Hi All,
I downloaded and installed DivX (Not as part of the special ROM) and I can't get it to play any sound ? I can play MPG files ok but without sound.
Is there anything I need to do to enable it ? I have checked volume and also checked that audio is enabled. Sound works fine in Media player.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Ta,
Rob.
hey mate
is your mpeg stored in the xda or in the storage card? if it's the latter; had the same problem a while back. what i did was stored an mpeg file in my storage card; creating folders and putting the file in one of them. used pocket tv and divx and no sound. took me while to figure it out; what i did was simply stored the mpeg file directly into the storage card; no folders. result; sound was there. posted this problem a while back but no one was able to figure it out. strangely it only occurs with mpeg; not with mp3s.
cheers
rob
pockettv
Can you recomend pocket tv?
not quite sure if to get it or not
I like it and if you dont then the option of removing it again is always there
video clips on xda
pocket tv is only program that seems to run all my video clips without problem. Some wouldnt recognize the clip format(even mediaplayer while pc mediaplayer played clip fine) or no sound(arghhhhhhhh)

Hi,
I'm using o2 mini & have a problem which need your help.
1/ Pls consult me what software for compressing music files from CD & then copy it to SD. Pls instruct me the way to do it.
2/ I'm looking for the software to watch films. Pls advise me what software can give the best pictures & fully sreen.
3/Can I use CD music to be ringstone. The way to do it.
Thank you very much in advance.
Hi Baloo,
Ok, let's do it step by step:
1) CD to SD:
For this you can use Audiograbber, which gets the audio tracks from your CDs (as long as your CDs aren't copy protected, otherwise you'll might run into troubles) on your PC and converts them into MP3 tracks. These MP3s you can put onto your SD card (using a card reader or via cable).
2) Watching films on your device:
Normally all PocketPCs come with windows media player, which can be used to view videos too. As I personally dislike WMP, I use BetaPlayer, which is a very nice video player and is able to play AC3, MP4, AVI films and also MP3 audio files.
3) Music as ringtones:
After having done the steps mentioned in 1), you should be able to use your MP3 files as ringtones too. I'm using the term "should be", because this depends on the capabilities and settings of your PocketPC (normally it should work, but there are some users who reportet problems - for more information just use the search function of this forum). As an alternative you also can use WAV files (they also can be made with Audigrabber) as ringtones, but they are about ten times larger in file size.
Just a little further note:
When using MP3s or WAVs as ringtones, you should place them on the internal memory of your device, because otherwise they may not be played (SD cards need some time to be activated when the PocketPC returns from sleep mode).
As a complete MP3 music file normally is about 4 MB of size (which is a lot), you should edit the MP3 you want to use and shorten it to about 20 seconds (look here, too). With this, you keep your memory and have your personal ring tone too
For more informations, just use the search function of this forum.

Hi everyone,
Just got my Pro yesterday and generally loving it - with one major problem though.... I can't seem to add music to the device.
If I dump them straight on the memory card then TF3D music tab says "No Music Found", if I sync them over WMP11 to the device then it shows them - but no album art and their durations are all zero seconds. WMP won't play them either. They're just in MP3 format and play fine everywhere else.
Help?
In the TF3d music tab, click on the Library softkey. You should be able to find them in there (under artists, albums, etc). Once you select a song, it will then load into the TF3d music tab. Hope that helps.
Thanks, I can get them to show there but without album art and the duration is zero seconds... WMP Mobile shows an error "access denied" when i try to play them there, if that helps.
I have no problem accessing my mp3s, but I did not use WMP11 to sync them.
I just copied mp3s right onto my microSD card, separated into folders by album (eg: \Music\artist1\album1\song.mp3), with a folder.jpg image for the album art. TF3d/Library recognized the files and the album art with no problem.
Hmmn, tried that, still the same thing. Just hard reset the device and still a no-go. This is beginning to really bug me very badly (like sending the device back kinda bad).
Double post to update:
So, I find that I can add WMA files without a problem. So at least I have a viable work-around for the problem. This doesn't actually help me sort out what the problem regarding mp3s actually is.
I thought it may be something to do with the File Associations, that I broke them somehow by installed Coreplayer, but I'm less sure now that a Hard Reset didn't solve the problem. It still could be, I see others have had similar problems relating to the registry (although their problems always came after installation of a different media player, rather than on the devices stock ROM). Does anyone know where the pertinent registry values are, and what they should be? Or perhaps others have some different solutions?

Have you tried soft resetting and deleting the file
\Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\AudioManager_Eng.vol
before switching to the TouchFlo Music tab?
Found I've had to rebuild my library in this way each time new mp3s have been added.
(I assume the mp3 aren't DRM protected - copied a number over myself by mistake which caused a similar problem.)
Probably a silly question,
When i synced my phone with Windows media player 11, all the tracks went across but not the artwork. Having looked in the folders on my pc, i see that the folder has an image, but there is no image file to transfer to the TPro. How do i get the artwork across and does this have to be a manual process.
If the album art is in the folder and named folder.jpg it automatically picks them up ardsar.
Thanks for that Lazy Slug, I'll give it a go.

Fancy seeing you here, and sorry didn't mean to hijack your thread, it's a great forum eh!
im using vista with wmp v. 11 and wmp cannot see my touchpro even if it is connected (via bluetooth). i've got no problems syncing mails, calendars, etc. i just cant seem to sync audio files using wmp.
thanks.
Well, my problem is sorted (kinda). I backed up my mp3's to a different external hardrive, something has happened in that process that means they only work on my PC - my PS3 can no longer stream them, my N82 can't play them, my Touch Pro can't either. I'm still trying to work out how to fix them (although when I have time I'll dig up my old drive and see whether they work from there). So good news: nothing wrong with my PS3, N82, Touch Pro.
Regarding your issue dido-11 - have you set up the Touch Pro to sync in WMP11? Instructions are in the manual for how to, if you haven't already tried.
NZtechfreak: indeed, it's in the manual. sorry, quite excited to use it right away without looking at the manual.
fhsieh: thanks, ill try that method as well.

Did you try to reencode one mp3 in standard 128 (not VBR) and see if is played?
They're all constant bitrate, they work when converted to WMA. I don't think its a problem with encoding though, since they worked fine with everything previously.

I am syncing my music with Windows Media Player 11 - it syncs over fine and the image art is there when playing the music in the windows media player on the fuze, but not present in the cover flow app. Where are these images stored? There are no jpgs in the directories where the MP3s are.
No matter what song I play from my MicroSD card, the whole Audio Manager just shuts down after about 30 seconds or so of playback. If I use the Music tab in my Manilla2d, the playback just crashes. I don't know why and I can't find a solution when using the search tool.
What's weird is that the songs all work fine in Windows Media Player.
Any help is appreciated.
What Pocket PC model are you using?
Sorry, I forgot the simplest of information.
I'm using an unbranded HTC Touch Cruise (Polaris), the official WM6.1 ROM and I installed Manilla2D on it.
Are you sure you have the latest builds of manila and audio manager?

can you post a screen shot cause i have only seen upto ver 1.2
I have the Audio Manager that comes with the build of Manilla2d I downloaded. I think I got it from freewareforpocketpc. I downloaded the exactly same thing for my HTC Touch Dual a few months ago and it worked fine. It also worked fine when I only had one song on my phone and that was in My Documents on the device itself.
Attached is the .cab and a screenshot of it.
Can anyone help me with this? It's really annoying. I have to settle for WMP to listen to my music and I don't really want to.
I had a similar problem - Audio Manager was using 99% CPU when it was trying to play 2 MP3 files in particular. Using WMP on my PC, I looked in the Advanced Tag Editor and under "Comments" there was some info which was not in other MP3 files. I removed this info, re-downloaded the MP3s to my phone and it started working.

Did you find a solution to the problem? I increased my music collection from +2gb to +6gb and now experience this same problem. I even re-encoded the MP3s to WMA, lowed all files to 128kbps, no folders, or album art, but same problem. The 2gb collection was resample to 96kbps to save on space. I haven’t tried that yet on the larger collection.
HTC Audio Manager ver 2.0 (build 1819.3326)
Edit:Solved - Well, for me. If any of the folder have files names FOLDER(2)(3).JPG etc, remove. It’s fine to leave FOLDER.JPG & FOLDER1.JPG.

Thanks for that. I will try this after I update to AM 2.0 again. I'm currently using 1.0.
Anyone encountered the "Can't load AAC decoder" error?
Volume
Is there no volume control in audio manager 2.0

Where this folders and folder's names usually are?
Ok I now can tell you that by using a program called Bulk Rename utility I renamed all of my mp3s and anything else in the directories that had any ( ) or { } in them. This seemed to work as for the first time I was able to listen to at least 5 songs in a row... Will test further but I believe this will fix it for good.... Thanks again to Silverexp!
Hi guys,
just got a HP touchpad. now is there a video player on here? and if its there what format do they have to be in to view it. have tried a couple of different ones and cant get them up.
Is there a player app i can download onto it at all ?
thanks
there is a photos & videos app built in, but it's pretty poor for video.
you need to add your video files to the root of the built in storage (the tablet installs onto your computer as a removable drive).
i still haven't got my head around the video file support just yet, but it doesn't seem to handle .avi, divx, xvid etc.
mp4 seems to be the main format.
there are a couple of apps for streaming videos from a upnp media server, but nothing free as far as i can tell.
kalemsoft media player seems to be the best of these as it lets you load video files from the local storage on your tablet as well as browse for remote stuff.
i have successfully played an avi file using this app.
i've only tried the demo version so far which requires internet access in order to assess the trial period.
i don't particularly want to purchase the paid version just yet.
I used Handbrake and followed the instructions here: http://forums.precentral.net/hp-tou...n-resources/287212-handbrake-preset-dvds.html I just tried a short 45 minute kids dvd to see if it would work okay. It was about a 400mb file. Placed it in a folder called Videos on the root of the usb partition and it shows up fine in the Photos and Videos app.

see i tried doing that as well. creating a folder called videos on the root and it wasn't detected.
only when i added the file direct to root could i access it.
are directory names case sensitive?
a video player that allows you to browse and/or add directories would be much better.
EDIT: looks like i had a folder called video. changed it to videos and it shows up.
strangely enough kalemsoft creates a folder recordings. when i added a video file to that, it also showed up.
I have put my videos in the download folder and they show up in the stock player fine. Also converted DIVX avi files to MP4 with Handbrake. Used the ipad HD settings for nice quality.
Kalemsoft Media Player wil read a lot of video formats , you can find it on app catalog.
The kalemsof that i downloaded isnt displaying in full screen and sometimes will hang on my TP. Guess its still not compatible to TP yet?

Thanx for the tip about Handbrake, nunja. I'll try it for conversions. I concur with the settings...
I'm on a Pre 2 and have no problems with mp4 playing (once you get the settings down it becomes rote). For my phone I use iPod settings...
For ripping from DVD I use DVDFab3 - I know there are way newer versions out there and I tried them but always go back to version 3. I just like the UI and it has never let me down. Point it at a DVD or ISO and under Mobile click Generic. You can configure it for generic mp4 and get a resolution up to 848x480 which should be alright on the TP screen. Your settings like Resolution, bitrate, volume level, subpicture - can all be saved as a profile.
DVDFab3 in a .rar file. Just extract and it will run out of the folder without install...
So I got digital download from Paramount and Universal a while ago. I was force to use this Digital Download manager http://www.digitalcopydownload.com worst call ever!!!
So the movie plays just fine on window media player, but now that I was able to buy a TF700. I try transferring the movie to the table, but it wont even transfer. So I though I could transfer to a micro sd card, but now it tells me its write-protected.......
I got on the web page for help and this is what it gives me......
"Portable Device Requirements:
PlaysForSure compatible portable media player with video playback support of at least 796 Kbps and video playback support of protected WMV files
Enough free storage space for the video"
Anybody got a solution to remove the write-protection so that I can get it playing on the tablet???
UPDATE: I guess its call DRM......freaking cant find a decent software to take it off......
Check out Audials Tunebite. I use it for my audio files but they make a video and pro version that does both. I have used it for years. Works on the same principle as the DVD backup software out there. It plays the file and records it in another format of your choice. I turned all my music into standard MP3 format. Can do the same with the video version, make all videos MP4, which is a format that works with pretty much every device known and works with HD as well.
