Then again new AnexTEK SP230 PocketPC phone seems to boast graphics into whole new level according to the spbsoftware: http://www.pocketpcreviews.net/reviews/022004/anextek2.htm
I wonder how pocket divx works with this one..

Any feedback yet on Eten M600

From all the specs I read, it looks like a great piece of equipment:
- quad-band (useful for me)
- 802.11 b/g (at last!!!). Wonder if WPA/WPA2 is supported, and PSK and/or 802.1x
-full-size SDIO
- Size looks to be between Magician and Himalaya (good enough for me!)
- BT 1.2 supported
- WM5.0...
So if anyone has anything to say about Eten in general and on the M600 in particular, I'd be glad to hear.
Cheers,
Hal

i was looking at one of these too. This looks like one sexxy handset!
not 4 me.
crappy samsung cpu, 64mb ram and useless 802.11g(it will take tons of energy if used)...
Qtek 2020i still the best.

I played with an Eten at Modaco.
Nice device, but fairly plasticy, unlike the aluminium sheathed godliness of HTC's stuff.
Nice to have the competition though. However, If i was going for a non HTC, I'd wait for the Atom = perkier.

Hal,
Do you know where this product can be purchased with a new abbonement in France?

As an owner of imate JAM and after reading all that about the warranty on blue angel and stuff I am going forward and I ll be ordering an ETEN M600 this monday morning!
At least it has full size SD and it supports SDIO!!!!
As for the quality mentioned above nothing can be worse than the firming on JAM. Have you seen the battery cover of the JAM???? How many of you have a jam that its colour didn't came off? Mine is becoming grey after the silver has gone in the back!
Anyway as for the samsung processor just think that K-JAM has the 200MHz version of it while M600 has the 400MHz one and I ve seen some benchmarks on the net showing clearly that tha 400MHz Samsung is faster in many tests than the Intel 416MHz located inside my JAM. At least msmobiles in their recent review say that skype works flawless something I never managed to see on my JAM or my friend's PDA2k.
So I will make a small review as soon as I lay my hands on it sometime after 5th of December.
And admins please create an area for ETEN users too.
I've seen the E-ten m500 (300 MHz Samsung CPU) in action and must say that I was really impressed.
Scrolling of navigation cards (Navigon Mobile Navigator 5.1) almost in real-time.
You'll need at least 416/520 MHz Intel CPU to achieve same results.
Don't know about battery life though.
Sascha
Sabo M500 has exactly the same processor with M600 and its clocked at 400MHz. I also saw an M500 and it was really fast and smoother than my JAM. Let me get my hands on M600 and I will let you all know how good it is!
Too bad there is no keyboard!!
The missing keyboard is one of the advantages of my M600 for me!
M600 in FR and lack of keyboard
Ok, I confess, I couldn't hold it anymore: I bought a K-Jam WWE while in Dubai last week.
First impression: not slower than BA/HIMA running WM5 (I have both - BA has dead screen now...).
It is the right size for me.
I tend to hate the keyboards, having been on Palm since 1995... The BA keyboard was laughable! But the on on K-Jam is real cool.
Keep feedback on M600 pouring please, I still find it's a nice piece of equipment!
My 2c,
Hal.

M500 has a 400mhz cpu
I had (still have, in fact) a Magician (JAM) till about 3 days back when after careful comparison of the various alternatives available (I wanted a WiFi pocket pc phone that was stable and fast) I bought the Eten M600.
Compared to my friends K-JAMs and JAMINs this one is really stable and fast. I can skype away happily on the M600 while my friends struggle to start up skype on their JAMINs. I make calls on Skype while they listen to garbage trying to make one.
Eten rocks, and at a price that $150 cheaper (including a free 1GB SD Card) than the JAMIN its too good a deal to ignore. @ HTC - competition has arrived, and in style!

HTC TyTN II or HP IPAQ 610c

Hey guys can someone help me out. I'm really confused which one amoung these two HTC TyTN II or HP IPAQ 610c sholud i go for. I love both the models. Can someone suggest which one is the best. HP IPAQ 610c will be releasing this october.
Question is: do you wan to have PDA integrated in a phone or Do you wan to have Phone integrated in a PDA.
I would go with HTC TyTN II which is HTC_kaiser
TytnII FTW
It has a full keyboard, the same quality cam and amount of ram
the kaiser is slightly less powerfull (520mhz verses 400mhz) but thats not really noticiable, specially if theres a overclocker coming
I like the IPAQ 600 because of its flash/led light (needed to take pictures by night)

HTC Tytn Vs HTC Tytn II

which is the best of both ?
The Tytn II is a much improved device over the original Tytn.
Just a highlight of some of the newer features;
- Slimmer, slicker hardware device
- Integrated GPS
- Integrated 3mp camera
- Double the internal memory 256mb ROM, 128mb RAM
- Support for HSUPA Protocol
- Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR
- Touchscreen which is better optimised for using HTC TouchFlo applications.
if you want to take a deeper look into it yourself check out these sites;

Hope that helps
Trist
I can't belive that this has even shown up. The Tytn II is the newest version which should obviously be better. Its GPS actually has an antenna attached and all points stated above.
However, the TyTN has flash... the TyTN II, no. The TyTN has a vanity mirror. No for the TyTN II. TyTN has one more button than the TyTN II. Finally, TyTN II has no infrared. But I still love my TyTN II!!
The II weighs more as well. Personally waiting for their next line to consider upgrade (would like larger screen as well as smaller form factor).

And its thickness is 2mm more, compared to the Tytn.
I'll consider a device with a sliding full keyboard when it will be as thin as keyboard-less devices...

Htc Touch Cruise Unavailable-uncertainty About The Gps Chip

Hi
I was also waiting since 2-3 weeks the new HTC TC, I was intersested because it had everything I wanted (except a SIRF Star III chipset).
I'm asking myself now if I will not buy instead the new ETEN Glofiish X 800 who except a 2MPixels camera (in place of a 3 MPixel for the HTC TC) has not only a better GPS receiver (Sirf starIII) but also a much better screen (VGA 640x480 in place of QVGA 320X240) , a faster processor 500 MHz for the Eten vs 400 MHZ for the HTC and a better battery 1530 mAh vs 1350 mAh for the HTC.
And it seems that the ETEN will also be cheaper than the Touch Cruise....
What do you think ? ETEN GLOFIISH X800 or HTC TC ..? Wait or not wait ?

With respect to SIRF Star III, if you use Tomtom it doesn't support the additional capabilities of the chip (I contacted Tomtom for this), besides, the HTC Cruise got the fix much faster then with my MIO A201 wich has a SIRF Star III chipset. I compared these two PDA's to figure out the diferences with respect to navigation using Tomtom.
Although the X500 has a higher clock processor, it is actually much slower than the Kaiser/Polaris because it doesn't have a dedicated gfx processor - so all gfx processing (and don't forget its 640x480) has to be done by the main CPU which makes even simple things like scrolling very slow.

Kaiser and Polaris DO have a GFX processor but they DON'T have drivers for it at the moment....
So they won't be any faster until we can get those drivers.
Compared to my SIRF Star III gps receiver the Cruise is just as good. Get's a faster fix and has just as many satelites. No major differences there, so there is nothing for you to worry in that department.
The X800 is a nice device as well. It's also VGA which could be something you like where the cruise is qvga.
But! from what I've read it feels kinda slow. Mainly because of the VGA resolution and that there is only 64mb RAM in the device. There where the cruise has 128mb ram.
Also for the future the gfx processing might be something to consider. There where the Cruise could get support for it at some point the X800 will never get that. Take into consideration that it's VGA instead of qvga ánd only has 64mb RAM I think the Cruise is the better choice here.
At least that was my conclusion when I was thinking about getting the X800 or the Cruise. In the end I was 100% sure to get the Cruise and so far it hasn't let me down as well. I'm quite happy with it, only hoping on some better video driver support.

After long struggle with myself I decided not to buy any Eten (considered X500+, X800 and M800) due to small amount of available memory.
So I wanted iMate Ultimate 9502, but it seems not available in Europe.
Therefore, since I need GPS, HTC TC, even if it's QVGA... TyTN II is simply too heavy... and I'm not sure I need keyboard.

Don't be confused (or to confuse others) about video drivers and gfx drivers.
Kaiser and Polaris don't have proper video drivers (DirectX), but the dedicated gfx processor does function correctly for 2D acceleration.
And the X800 is very slow.

X800 IS THE SLOWEST PDA I HAVE USED, YOU MUST DO A SOFR RESET EACH 2 HOURS TO USE IT NORMALLY...

compare of ATOM V with Intel chip while the rest HTC Tytn II/Touch Dual/LG KS20 with qualcomm.
playing back the same video file on memory card at the same time but you can see that ATOM V with intel (marvell) performance better.
http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/0,39029453,49296230,00.htm
Knowing what i now know, about all the issues and the crap support from HTC, I regret purchasing my touch cruise. If I could go back in time, I would definately get the atom V. Oh well. Heindsight is always 20/20.
I think this is so skewed/biased.
I've got the 8525 and using BetaPlayer and can play smooth converted movies flawlessly. Without tweaking or optimizing Betaplayer, I can duplicate the stop/start effect. Yes, there are some tweaks that needs to be done, but BetaPlayer needs to be optimized for each PDA device it's installed on -just like everyone needs to adjust the seats on any rental car before they can feel comfortable in it.

This another link by tatsdiy compare of INTEL vs SAMSUNG
O2 Zinc with yr 8525 aka HTC Hermes playing back same video also while zinc intel chip with speed step managed to run the video even at 312mhz while hermes cant perform well with its samsung 400mhz
Intel > qualcomm, samsung...
just from my own experience with using devices built on those chipsets, I can tell you that it's true..I had an apache (samsung 400mhz), currently have a touch cruise (qualcomm msm7200 400 mhz), and have used intel based ppcs before as well. The qualcomm chips are definately garbage, and are at the bottom of the barrel. The apache, I miss...I think it's def. faster than the touch cruise. I guess I regret my purchase :|
But as for the intel ones go, I would have to say that I think theyre better than both of those...just from using it for a little while..just normal email, web, etc. apps..no benchmarks, just personal opinon though.
