XDA II car mount with power, hands free and GPS connection - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Accessories

Whilst looking on the web for somthing completely unrelated I came across this site -
http://www.seidio-europe.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BD-SMGF1XDAII
They do a mount for the XDA II which according to the site will be available on March 21st. A cut and paste of some of the info on the mount is below (it looks quite good as well) -
G2500 offers the following features:
It is model specific. You can simply slide your PDA into the mount without having to take the time to plug in the additional wires and cables.
It can securely hold and charge your PDA , while also improving the sound output making GPS voice commands and other digital sounds clearly and loudly through the integral speaker.
It is GPS ready meaning you can plug the GPS mouse (wired) receiver directly to the cradle for charging and connecting to PDA. No more messing around with tangled and expensive Y-cables. For blue tooth receiver users, It can charge the blue tooth receiver with the optional charging cable.
It can serve as a hands free speaker phone for cellular phone or PDA phone with optional hands free cable.
With a 360 degree swivel adaptor, maximum driver/passenger readability and viewing is always assured.
It can charge your blue tooth receiver, cellular phone, and additional PDA with optional charging cable.
DC power can be supplied either from the cigarette lighter socket or the unit can be hard wired directly into the car electrical system (12-24 V)
The mounting solutions: With the pedestals included, PDA users can mount their PDA in a variety of ways based on their personal preference or vehicle interior.

help with lead, not even sure what its called!?!

Hi
Ive got a emtac GPS bluetooth reciever and this comes with an in car charger. The charger lead splits into 2 with one side going into the emtac and the other should go into the XDA II
However the connecting lead is missing. So I need a lead that goes from the split into the bottom of the XDA II - I already have a XDA II power connector that goes into the bottom of the XDA so its just the lead to connect the 2?
I hope I have explained that????
Any help would be great
cheers

It would be very unusual for a bluetooth wireless gps to be supplied with a lead that links the pda with the gps, if you have the car charger for the gps and a car charger for the xda then all you need is a double adaptor for your lighter socket to take both chargers. If this doesnt answer your question then try here and look at all the different leads, if your gps uses a standard mini usb plug then you can use the Fortuna lead to power your pda and gps a the same time. If you are going to be using a cable that links both I wonder what the sense is in buying a wireless gps because it rather defeats the object.
hi
thanks for the response, i can see your point about connecting a BT device to a BT XDA with wires - sorta defeats the object!
However I suppose it is saving on chargers?
I already have a 4 way in car adaptor, but one is taken for charging my phone, one for my BT headset, one for the BT GPS reciever and the 4th can only be used for an actual cigarette lighter, meaning I am one short for my XDA
So if I can get the lead to connect the GPS power to the xda then im fully charged!
My car looks like spaghetti junction with all the wires!

It is a round conncetor with a six pin configuration five outer pins and one in the centre, the connecor is only half a centimeter diameter.

Looking for fixed car bracket

Hi all,
My employers are looking for approx 100 x car mounting brackets.
We need the following:-
Strong
Able to be wired into vehicle loom - no cigarette plugs (brodit style plug would be a bonus)
We would like something similar to the Brodit products (but they do not make anything for the Atrix2...yet)
Any suggestions?

Complete wireless car solution!

I've always wanted to have a completely wireless car solution, so I was pretty excited about the wireless charging on the S6. Combined with bluetooth audio, it should be possible right? So I got a RAM mount and slapped a wireless charger on it, and it works! My major worry was that it wouldn't charge the phone fast enough. From brief testing, the phone at least keeps a charge while running GPS with screen on and streaming music over LTE. With GPS and screen off but still streaming music over LTE, I got maybe 5% battery charging over 15 minutes. Overall I'm pretty happy. Of note, the wireless charging worked through my Versus card slot case (awesome case btw) with my credit card and ID in there. Here are the important parts:
Anker Ultra-Slim Wireless Charging Pad: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HIZ3ZI4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Ram Mount Universal X-Grip Cradle: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055PH0XA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Kinivo BTC455: http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC455...&qid=1428757582&sr=8-1&keywords=Kinivo+BTC455
Misc parts:
Versus card slot case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00U9PDW9M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Ram Mount Long Double Socket Arm for 1-Inch Ball Bases: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WJA5ZY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Ram Mount V-Shape Base with 1-Inch Ball for Rails and Yokes: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0030HO6SM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The Anker charger is about the thinnest I could find. It's very wide, but fortunately it just barely fits in the Ram mount. I'd recommend using some 3M double sided mounting tape to attach the charger to the mount. FYI, if you use that Kinivo bluetooth device (also great btw) you'll probably want a ground loop isolator like this one.
That is pretty clever! Nice. :good:
How's the BT sound? I have the same one and needed one of these to remove the dirty noise.

Can you explain how the three Ram Mount parts go together? I'm not familiar with that sort of design.
With the ground loop isolator the audio is perfect to my ears. Just as good as using an audio cable.
The Ram mounts use ball and sockets to hook together. Super easy. They have different cradles, arms, and bases. You just get the different parts depending on what you need and just make sure the ball size is the same.
very cool idea ! wireless is the way to go.

Connecting an android phone to a car with a MOST optical audio system. Help needed!

Hi all,
I have an interesting problem to pose to the techies amongst you.
I have just managed to get my dream car and now need to integrate my phone without paying the huge sums being asked for by the car manufacturers and some aftermarket electronic suppliers (car ICE specialists too). My phone is currently a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the car has MOST optical audio and satnav systems.
I'm after 3 distinct, yet simultaneous, solutions, which are : -
A/ power supply to the phone
B/ HDMI or RCA output to a dash mounted 5 inch lcd screen for satnav purposes
C/ audio output to link into the car's current MOST audio system (head unit in the dashboard, also running the car's hvac, and the amplifiers are in the boot)
My first thought was to open up the USB 3 cable and to run individual wires to 3 separate plugs for each of the 3 solutions listed above. At this point many of you may be laughing at my clearly very poor understanding of modern electronics, particularly USB, and I would not argue that at all - I'm a complete dimwit here! Obviously (I think...) the clear solution is in the fact that USB can run different objectives simultaneously.
So... I run my USB 3 CABLE from the phone to a (presumably powered?) USB 3 hub and have 3 appropriate cables plugged in and running respectively to A/ a USB cigarette lighter socket, B/ an hdmi (or RCA, or composite?) plug and C/ to a standard stereo headphone jack or socket.
I don't think A/ will work because I don't see power going from the socket back through the hub and into the phone. Suggestions welcomed as I can't see how to get power to the phone at the same time as having a USB cable supplying data out. Or is there power over USB through a hub available?
B/ seems straightforward enough.
C/ the audio then needs to go to an analog to digital / wired to optical adapter and then a 2 into 1 optical switch (so I can still have the existing output from the head unit) before plugging into the amplifiers. These 2 adapters are easily available through eBay, Amazon or Maplins as far as I can see. The issue I foresee here is will the head unit still be able to control volume, fade, etc of the signal coming from the phone? If the control of the amplifiers happens via the optical cables then presumably that won't happen if I've used a switch to change the source? Would taking the output from the phone's headphone socket be of any benefit? I doubt it as the output power from there may be quite a bit higher than from the USB port...
So you can see that I clearly need some knowledgeable direction here or I will be forever going round in ever decreasing circles!
Many thanks in advance for any help given. Cheers, Mark
