8gb sd card

Has anyone tried using an 8gb sd card under WM6?
I have WM6 on my XDA Exec, but don't want to buy an 8GB card if it's not going to work.
If it's HDSD it won't work (from my understanding), if its SD it might work... but i've never heard of any regular SD card that is bigger then 4GB.
you can use it as a storage. it is be able to install programs on!

Hi!
I think the bigger memory will be apear very soon. So that is very good for memory limit of PPC. But can it work???? Not sure.
>4gb wont work with universal, and indeed some 2gb and 4gb ones too.
the universal has only a SD card reader, not SDHC. SDHC capabilities would need new hardware or at the very least new firmware so its not gonna happen, sorry
ocz sd card 4gb

A new firmware to make the Universal's SD Card Slot SDHC compliant is not possible. Only a new hardware component will work.
The OFFICIAL maximum storage capacity supported on the Universal SD Card Slot is 6GB. Obviously such an SD card does not exist and hence the practical maximum limitation is 4GB.

Stock 1GB card safe for Apps2SD?

Can I setup Apps2SD on my stock 1gb or will the card be too slow?
Well i dont know but i dont think so. Alot of people in these forums told me and other people that a class 2 8gb would cause problems and would slow down my device, but i guess there wrong because im pushing this card to its limit with no lags and no probs. So i will tell you, go ahead and use what you got.
I wouldn't I would go with a class 6 card at least if you want to put apps on a SDcard.
as long as it has a write/read speed of over 6mbs your fine to use that. so just bench it and find out for yourself. you dont want anything slower than 4mb.
read this thread, tons of info on write speeds and benching.

I did it for the past 4 months and haven't had any problems whatsoever. I was also running cache to sd as well. You won't notice as much of a performance boost, but you will notice a boost, since you have alot more memory available on the phone.
I actually did it this morning with my stock 1GB sd card. Everything is peachy

I got apps2sd on my 8gb. I see what you saying, but budget wise hes probably just trying to use what he has. I have a class 2 8gb and i habe no probs when i sent my apps and cache to my sd. But if he has the money i would recommend the 6 class 8gb also.

Exactly just trying to save a buck or two while I test it before going for a class 6. Thanks everyone for your comments.
I Also have a 4g class 2 SD card with well over 60 apps installed, along with my dalvik-cache. I have 65mb free on my phone and My phone runs amazing. I'm sure that the Class six would load apps faster due to the higher flash memory. But I have no experienced a single problem with my 4g class 2 card.
Neither have I.
If you guys do a test on the mSD you would find out that the stock card is actually a Class 6. Enjoy
update
Just thought I'd post back here to let you know that I got my Apps moved over pefectly to my stock card with no problems. Thanks again for all your help. I hope to pick up a class 6 8gb card soon! .

Buy a good SD Card
I bought a 4gb class 6 card, and when i partition it to do apps to sd it doesnt work and corrupts the disk. so make sure you buy a quality card, as I am now going to buy a better card so I can do apps to sd.
go to newegg.com that is where i am going to get mine, and choose sandisk, A-data or kingston or another quality sd card. 4gb or more is what i've seen suggested, i am going to get the 8gb, there's one i found for 20.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211341
good luck!

[Q] Choicee Brand 16gb microsd class 4

Hi. I'm thinking of buying Choicee (New brand?) 16gb microsd class 4 for my htc sensation. What do you guys think?
http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/Choicee-...Domain_207&hash=item256e88359d#ht_2239wt_1139
Also, i'm currently using 8gb class 2, how do i copy EVERYTHING in the card to the new card so they are exact but with extra space? Just copy/paste it straight away or it needs some requirement?
Thank you
The card looks decent but I'd still go with a proven brand like SanDisk or Transcend.
Have you got any apps on your SD card? If so move them to internal memory.
Then copy the contents of the SD onto your computer and then put them onto the new SD card.

[Q] What's the point of having so much internal memory space?

For phones like the S3, you can get them with up to 64 GB internal phone storage, what's the point?
You can't transfer your songs or movies from your SD card to your phone, so that means the internal memory can only store apps, and who has 64 GB of apps?
Isn't 1GB big enough for all your apps?
Or am I missing something here?
... I have over 1Gb of apps and I don't even have any particularly big ones on there... and I didn't think I had many, either. I have been considering a nearly 1Gb game app for my tablet, and I'm sure some people have mental fortitude to play such games on their phones (I like the bigger screen, can't concentrate on the phone sized screen for really detailed games).
Why couldn't you put music and movies on the internal storage ? Kies will try to put music on internal by default - I actually had to move to the external SD after transferring because I didn't realise that. I'm sure I could do the file transfer in the opposite direction as well and cut and paste from external to internal.
I think ur misunderstood by 64GB in S3...its Internal USB storage (in-built memory card) not phone memory.
I have a 32GB Galaxy S2 model..it doesn't mean that it has 32GB phone memory..lol

This is internal but accessable as storage space for films etc.
On many new devices (like nexus4/7/10) everything is kept on one partition so the internal memory is for apps and files

Yeah, I meant internal storage, as in space, and not RAM, if that's what you mean.
Unless you're saying there's the internal storage + internal sd card + external sd card?
You can drag and drop or use Kies/Kies Air or any other such program. I mean, they're not going to mandate you buy an external SD card in order to store media, that would be silly.

So which one is the one you can buy in stores?
Where's the internal memory card located?
I've got a Galaxy Ace.
Galaxy ace doesn't have it.
Models like Galaxy s, S advance, S duos, S2, S3, Note...and others have it inbuilt.
You can't remove nor expand the internal SD card.
There is a slot for external card too like in galaxy ace....external SD cards are available for sales everywhere.

SD CARDS ARE NOT GOOD!
having internal storage is much better then having SD storage, reason being is the phones processor has process stuff much quicker if its on the internal memory. When stuff is stored on an SD card the access time is always greater. Also theat is not true you can store your mvoies videos and pictures on the interal memory.(I have an S3 and i know this works)

So you can transfer files from your computer to your internal or external sd card, or from your internal card to external card or vice versa, but you can't transfer to your phone memory?

Yup..u got it right.
U can't transfer to internal memory (phone memory) but u can transfer to Internal Storage (inbuilt SD card) and External storage.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
I don't know how they wire these phones up, but I can tell you that the storage memory that is actually inbuilt to the phone will be faster than anything you plug in. SD Cards usually take more time for transfers/reads than internal memory. Hence, people go for more internal memory nowadays rather than use an SD card to store their crap on.
it is always better to have a hard-soldered memory chip for faster processing .
many applications wont install to an SD, one of them being Facebook!

128GB microSD card confirmed working with the Sensation

All,
Just got my San Disk 128GB microSD card from Amazon. It works great. You'll first need to reformat the card to FAT32 (recommend Google search for GUIFORMAT). Copy/transfer any of your old files from you old card to you new one (after you've formatted) and insert into you Sensation. The Sensation recognized the entire 128GB.
I don't think we're allowed to discuss prices; however, Amazon has a VERY good deal on this card right now for those considering it.
Cheers,
Justin

In fat32 the sd just acept 4GB files. You can put a lot of 4GB files, but 4GB is the limit.
I have a 32GB Sd with NTFS and works great.
I know it have 128, but you try with NTFS!?

Surely. I have a 32GB NTFS runing on my Sensation.
On bigger SDs the only problem, i believe so, is the lag.
I dont have this problem om my, just on 64GB or bigger.
Sorry for my bad english
Thank you for the information, I had no idea. Will be purchasing one when I have the cash. :good:

I've just installed SanDisk Ultra 128GB UHS-I/Class 10 Micro SDXC Memory Card Up To 48MB/s. It was on sale trough Amazon for $90. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M562LF4/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It works well on my Sensation, I've just had to format it to FAT32 in the phone first.
As far the file system used, I prefer FAT32 due to it's compatibility on both Windows and Androids.
None of my files are bigger than 4GB, therefor, this limit doesn't bother me. Only file encroaching this limit would be HD video (my movies typically don't exceed 2.5 GB size) or off-line map data files (I use Garmin's StreetPilot, however, it's easy to split maps to manageable sizes).
So the Sensation can actually read and write to the entire capacity of the 128GB card? I've read repeatedly that 32GB is the max supported for microSD cards, and some people report having a 64GB card working. This is the only place I see a mention of a 128GB card working for the Sensation.
I have a SDCX 128 GB card (Class 10) and when I make an ext4 partition for the MOD to get 8 GB of data my recovery doesn't recognize the card.
