The phone itself does not need to be deactivated...you just need to put in a different SIM card and you're good to go.
Is there another way to enter the unlock code without having another sim card? thanks in advance.

Turns out I have a t-mo card - tested on my phone - unlocked it no problem, no t-mo service needed.
toxic- Here's a used T-Mobile sim card on EBay for $4 free shipping.

Hi All, I have an LTE provisioned line. The phone is a GS2 SKYROCKET. Can I just go to AT&T and get the smaller sim card that the Nexus 5 requires. Or do I have to perform major Surgery on my rocket card? Thanks in advance!

go into a ATT store and they will give you one..
I used one of those punchout cutters to cut the SIM card from my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket down to a MicroSIM. Worked with no problems in the N5, I'm running on LTE, etc. Less hassle for me than going to a store, and at least I had a SIM card that I knew would work!
Cool, thanks to both of you.

I wouldn't really know, but the safest way is to get it unlocked at a store. You can search around in the forum or Google of you wish to try some luck.

Anyone know how to network unlock an o2 s6? Codes from o2 don't seem to be working, can I do it myself with a ROM or kernel etc etc

As long as they work, I've read a few horror stories where people pay and the codes never work on s6 and they end up with a unusable phone, I've been to o2 and they want account holder to do it! No good as they no longer own it
