Question Application MTP system app - Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

Hi All,
In a topic in this section, an user told to get access to the system app "Application MTP" and do an operation to try to fix a bug with the Z Flip 3 phone. I'm able to see "Application MTP" system app only when I clear the memory but not if I go into the system apps where in fact is not present. There is a way to find it and to disable it?
Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards

App update problem...

hi,
i have a new problem that start in the last few days ,from some reason i can't install new apps and update existing apps- its say: "update unsuccessful" after its download the update and try to install it.
i also tried to delete some apps in order to get some more free space and now i have 50Mb but i still have the same problem.
please advice,
Hello friend , i want to help you out but I'm in the dark, you didn't mention witch app you can't update and if you use a custom rom or stock rom.
Whatsoever IF you can't update an application that was included in your rom and you using a custom rom most of the times they cannot be updated or uninstalled. The best way is to ask your rom's developer to update the rom with the newest versions of the applications you want. Another way (risky way) is to download titanium backup from market, this app gives you the option to uninstall apps builted in rom , after removing the app install the newest version one.
i must warn you uninstaling a builted in app may have bad result to the rom, i suggest a backup before trying this.
About your storage , does your rom has a2sd ? If yes you are OK unless you have really big number of installed apps cuz internal memory still saving a small amount of the apps data(i don't know exactly how it works).
I hope i helped you out and good luck with any decision you ull take.
First, thanks for your attention.
I have Cyanogen-6.1.0-N1-signed and app2sd app.
The apps that i tried to update are not built-in apps(lookout, sms backup...) and i also tried games but still i had the same error...i think i will try to uninstall the relevant apps and reinstall them maybe it will solve the problem...
Kindly check under the "CyanogenMod Settings" - > "Application Settings"
try to disable (uncheck) first the "Allow application moving" and make sure the "Install Location" is set to automatic or Internal..
Lets see if this fix your problem..
if nothing works, try the workaround i have detailed

[Q] ICS Official: No Device Administrator Settings

Hi,
Is this a known issue on Android 4.03 Official?
I can't uninstall an app, because I can't disable its administrator privileges. These settings are gone after applying the FOTA!
Not noticed it but I did a factory reset after getting the update

Thanks. I didn't. Interesting. Can anyone else confirm/reject this please?
Nope, i can just remove apps and everything. Didn't do a factory reset after OTA update.

But do you see the "Device Administrator" settings?
You mind trying to install this app (SwitchPro Widget) and then uninstall it?

i see the device administrator settings. Can't install the app because it's a paid app and i don't own a creditcard
Factory reset was the solution indeed!
Where's My Droid is the problem
I noticed after installing Where's My Droid and granting it Device Administration privileges, the option itself disappeared from the Security menu of my phone, along with Unknown Sources option. WTF - I reset my phone over a dozen times (literally) before I realized what caused it to keep disappearing. There's no telling how many apps out there that might cause these options to disappear after being added as a Device Administrator. So please, test my conclusion...reset your phone and if the options reappear, try installing the app that caused the options to disappear (most likely a security app or phone locator app) then grant it Device Admin again and see what happens. If I'm right, please hit the thank you button. Peace!!
I don't see this menu even I did factory reset+wipe data in stock recovery ... I've tried to check it on clean phone without any application installed and it is not there - just setting for "Unknown sources" but not Device administrators ..

Me either until you install an app like Where's My Droid, then go to the Security section of WMD> Remote Wipe or Remote Lock. DO NOT 'SET DEVICE ADMIN' but this should put the option in the Settings>Security menu of the phone. but after uninstalling WMD it goes away. maybe you can make use of it for programs that need device admin privleges while WMD is installed, hopefully it dosen't disappear if you authorize a different app, then hopefully uninstalling WMD wont remove the option if a different app already has admin rights. Are you pickin up what I'm layin down? I know it sounds crazy, thumbs down ICS

I'm knew at posting and don't know if you hit the thanks button but it would be greatly appreciated. btw, this problem is not on any other ICS phone I've seen, just Vivid, rooted or not.

You have found the root cause of this "problem".. It is not a bug it is feature
That did it for me, too!
Just to confirm, I found a small app on the Play Store that wanted Device Admin rights (an app called "Lock Screen" which just provides a button to lock the device), went in to it's settings, enabled Device Admin rights and then the 3rd Party Apps and Device Administrator settings appeared in the Security Settings. Thank you!

Seems like a problem to me, I have yet to get these options back after setting Where's My Droid app as a Device Admin.
Only Install Android Device Manager for enable this menu

[Android System][Device Locked] Device Management has restricted certain features

I was installed some s8 random apps (downloaded from appmirror) by the following tricks from this forum.

These are the steps I done
1. Add a shortcut of the apk to the home screen from the my files app
2.Power off the phone.
3. Cleared the cache partition.
4. Restarted the phone.
5. Quickly installed the Apk by accessing the shortcut from home screen.
(Now it's installed )
6. But the launcher keeps force stopping.
So I cleared touchwiz home's data and cache from app manager.
7. Now it's working fine.
I also installed Bixby app through the same process.
Hope this solution works for all those who face the conflicting signature problem.

For some reason i was reset(hard) my phone (by wiping data + cash partition). After successfully reset when device is turned on i found an unexpected error like below:
Device Locked
Device Management has restricted certain features on your device.
Please contact the administrator to re-install Device Management to recover your restriction.
Now I can't access CAMERA(security policy restricted camera), SD-Card not found(showing not inserted), Bluetooth is also disabled. USB-debug is also disabled although DEVELOPER OPTIONS is enabled. Screen-shoot is also disabled. I have flashed my mobile multiple times after that occurrence with proper updated files(AP,BL,CP,CSC,pit). But my problem is still remain. I really don't know what to do. Plz help me out. Thanks in advanced.
N.B: I have also used a fresh gmail account but problem still remain. I have a backup EFS folder but i can't root my phone as usb-debug is disabled. I was tried multiple times to root my phone by CF-Auto root for sm-g930k but it stuck on KT logo and as a result i have flashed it again and again. :crying:
Sorry for my bad english.

"Unknown sources" missing on Oreo

Hi, since the Oreo update I can't find the "Unknown sources" to install APK's freely. I'ts not under "Lock Screen and Security", and I have enabled Chrome in "Applications/Special Access/Install other apps" and I'm trying to install apps from the "Downloads" section of chrome, but it dosn't work this way either.
I was trying to install the Pixel Launcher as seen from here: https://theunlockr.com/2018/03/13/make-samsung-galaxy-s9-look-like-stock-android/
But everytime I try it I get the "<!> Application not installed".
I don't know exactly what says in english, I'm using my phone in spanish.
Any ideas? Thanks!
If you go to Settings-Apps-3 Dots-Special Access-Install Unknown Apps.
They've moved it so only certain apps can install unknown apps
Please help how to fix this problem. This doesn't work, I tried installing Accuweather pro several times. I have the app saved to my Google Drive, I click on the app and I see something called 'Staging App' and then I get this alert ' There was a problem parsing the package'. I currently had an older version of Accuweather pro installed and working fine. I decided to remove the old version and then reinstall it and I received the same alert. FYI the old Accuweather app was installed before the Oreo update.

Have you tried downloading your APP file from Google Drive to your phone then opening the copy on your phone, that should install the .apk
Go to settings on the phone >> apps >> 3 vertical dots at the top right corner >> special access >> install unknown apps >> and there enable the permission from where you are trying to download it.
All thank you,
I found out that you now have to download the app to your phone. Google Drive does not allow you to download and manually install .
Dear sir/madam,
Following your answer, in specific this part, "They've moved it so only certain apps can install unknown apps", perhaps someone could help me out. I use the Firefox Focus browser and this app doesn't show up in the list of apps that are allowed to install unknown apps.
* Does this mean Firefox Focus can't install apps from unknown apps, since it's not on the list?
* And perhaps we can conclude from that it will never be allowed to do so?
* Or would this app not be on this list, because I've never tried installing anything using this browser?
I guess the real question would be, what populates this list?
I hope to hear from you, thanks in advance, all the best.
Form what I've seen, 1st time you try to install apk from an app it asks you if you want to allow it?

That's what I was thinking as well, funny thing is that 'Google Chrome' is in the list and I've never used that browser. Unless it's there, because it's from Google
I have followed the above suggestions and have allowed Chrome to install apps since that's the browser I'm using. The phone says I have downloaded the app but it is not giving me any option to install it? Where did the download go and how can I get it actually installed? This is an app for work.
Edit: Nevermind - I restarted the phone and tried again and it worked. thanks.

Question Install apk from local storage

Hey guy's, I hope somebody can help me out here. I can't find any explanation on internet. I want to install an apk from the local storage on my Rog phone 5 ( android 12,un rooted) .
In the old days it was pretty simple, just a slide to activate the "allow unknown sources", click on the apk file and it would install. Now on the rog phone 5 in the apps&notifications, special app-acces, install unknown apps it only shows a few apps that I can give permissions to install from unknown sources. Like Chrome, file manager, gmail, brave browser etc. ( see picture). So I give the file manager or brave the permission, restart the phone, go to the apk in the file manager but it won't install.
It will just show the contents of the apk. If I select the apk I can remove it, rename it, compress it, anything but install it.
I can choose open with brave but still nothing happens. I tried downloading an app in the playstore to install apk files but it won't even list the apk file. I have no clue why they made something that used to be so easy so complicated. So I hope somebody can enlighten me how to install an apk on this phone. Thanks in advance!
Have you enabled install unknown apps in developers options ? Special app access allows you to allow/not allow individual apps to install unknown apk files. I think you have to enable it in developer options for the native installer first. I may be wrong but it's worth checking.
I'll go check if the option is there and let you know. Tnx man.
The only thing I found was " force app allowance on external drive" and but it changed nothing.

you could try
Code:
adb shell settings put secure install_non_market_apps 1
adb shell settings put secure unknown_sources_default_reversed 1
that would be from terminal on pc or you could install settings database editor from play store and grant it permissions via adb and you will have gui to change system settings
Could you please walk me through how to do this? Tnx.

Ok, first I guess I need to ask some questions. Have you tried a different file manager, installed thru play store ? How many .apk files have you tried to install ? If it is just the one app that you have in storage it may be corrupt. Have you tried a fresh copy of it ? Is it an old app and is it compatible with your Android version ?
I don't know what I was thinking, that isn't in developer options anyway, it's in security. It would seem odd for them to remove the ability to install personal apk.
