Weird Charging Issue with My OnePlus 8T - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

Need suggestion:
I'm facing a weird problem with my OnePlus 8T. Here is the situation: I can't charge my device with the original OnePlus Warp Charger (that has type C on the both end). I've tried with my friends charger it's the same, the device won't charge. But with other charger ( type A to Type C) it charges.
So the main point is: The phone only charges with Type A to Type C chargers/cables, Doesn't charges with Type C to C chargers cables.
What's the issue here!

I presume, it happens because of the proprietary fast charging protocol OnePlus uses.
GaN charger support warp charge 65w
Can anyone suggest any GaN charger support warp charge 65w??

USB-C cables can be different inside.
One provide only usb 2.0 wiring, others usb 3.2 or even thunderbolt.

About quick charge

HELLO GUYS
i just got the tronsmart quick charger and remax type c cable
i see that its charge my xiaomi mi4c a little bit faster then the original one but theres not big diffrence
i tried on my girlfriend lg g4 and the charging is really fast
i think that xiaomi has built in limit for the charging
any idea what to do to skip that limit?
Until xiaomi releases kernel source code and a custom kernel is developed, nothing can be done about the charging limits (which is true and tested). I used the same charger to charge my HTC M8 and it has quick charge compared to the M8 original charger.
Sent from my Mi-4c using xda premium
There's a good reading material here: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/charging-analysis-between-oneplus-2-and-xiaomi-mi-4c.387573/
I'm not sure whether it's kernel controllable or not, but even if yes, we need the kernel source to modify it.

From what I have understood, the original cable that came with the MI4c is a modified Micro-USB type B cable, and not a "real" USB-C cable. So your (and my) MI4c phone draws a maximum of 5V~2A from the original charger and the standard USB-C cable, whereas the LG G4 draws a maximum of 20V~5A from the USB-C cable. This means that the LG get more power, faster from the USB-C cable you bought, and therefore gets charged faster - and you will not notice a big difference when using the USB-C cable, as your phone only draws the mentioned 5V~2A.
Do yourself a big favor, and throw away your original cable from Xiaomi, as it might potentially break your charger, laptop etc. if you use it in your girlfriends phone!
G4 does not have USB Type c cable.

Good to know... I just assumed there was USB-C type cable to the G4 as OP apparently were able to charge the phone with a USB-C type cable.
OP must have mixed up the model name of the phone, then.
Hi, I tried an Anker and Aukey quickcharge wall charger with some issues...I used till now the original battery charger with its usb cable. I usually charge the phone turning it off... When it gets to 100% I unplug the phone and then turn on .. that's normal ok... But I noticed that using another compatible charger that uses Qualcoom 2.0 quick charge technology.. once the phone gets 100% and I unplugg the charger my phone boots by itself.. Why does it happen with this charger and not with the original one???

Pixel C charger

The only charger that's charging my Pixel C is the original charger that came with the device.
I have a number of other chargers here, even a QC3.0 charger, and another USB-C charger (from a Moto Z2). None of them is charging the Pixel C! They do light up the charging icon, but when I look into the battery settings, it says: 'not charging'
What are your experiences with charging the Pixel C?
i use the factory charger, the charger from my oneplus 5, and if it is connected to my pc it charges during that time. i remember using a few others also and have had no issues with any specific charge method. in fact, i am sorta surprised by the post. i know the factory charger has a built-in cable, so i might first look at the cable used with any other charger. i bought some usb-a to usb-c cables from amazon and the oneplus 5 is a good usb-a to usb-c cable.
I purchased this from amazon
Anker Quick Charge 3.0 and USB Type-C 24W USB Wall Charger, PowerPort+ 1 for Galaxy C9 Pro, Nexus, Moto and More
I think it came with a cord
Anker PowerLine+ C to C 2.0 cable (6ft), High Durability, for USB Type-C Devices Including Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, the new MacBook, Nintendo Switch, Google Pixel, Nexus 6P, LG V20 G5 and More
this is optional.

All my chargers do that, including the original one. It takes maybe half a minute to a minute before this changes to "charging" in battery settings. So it's not a charger problem really.

well.... it once drained the battery, the screen stayed on because a charger was connected, but it did not actually charge the battery. i thought it was charging, some time later i noticed that it was not!
this and other experiments made me write this question on the forum.
update: due to a problem with the PIN I had to factory reset my Pixel C https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73807273&postcount=20
and ever since, different chargers NOW do charge the Pixel C!!! strange, but that's how it is now....
Sorry for resurrecting this old thread. Hopefully this may help others with this problem.
I am on my second pixel c and both had/have this problem with aftermarket chargers. For me, the problem is not that the chargers won't charge the unit, but that they won't charge the unit every time they're plugged in. My workaround is to run the ampere app and repeatedly plug the charger into the unit until it shows it charging. Normally it takes no more than 5 tries. It even charges rapidly.
I currently use an anker charger that works as above, my previous charger, Aukey, also worked similarly. Strangely enough, it doesn't matter which end of the cable(usb-c or USB) is removed and reinserted to get the pixel c charging. This proves to me that it's not a bad connection.
I can confirm that the Anker aftermarket charger works great. When I plug in the Pixelbook charger into the Pixel C the tablet will charge but it will reboot android everytime.... Very annoying!

any brand cable with 3A (aliexpress) solve your problem
Hi to all
Here you have my experience with my second hand pixel c.
I have tested :
huawei 5v 2A , 9v quick charger Charging ok.
Apple ipad 18w charger. Charges it ok.
Anker 5 ports QC2.0 not charging.
Aliexpress QC 3.0 charges but makes some bad touch screen errors and ghost touchs. It is impossible to use Pixel c.
Huawei 5v 2A. Not charge
With charge i mean in the battery options icon i can see charging...
Thanks to all.

USB Type C to Type C Quick Charge

I upgraded to LG V30 from Nexus 6P. Skipped the Pixel and Pixel 2 series...
I have a large supply of USB Type C to Type C cables that rapidly charged my Nexus 6P....they will not fast charge the V30 though.
My Type A to C cables will not fast charge it either with anything but the stock LG charger.
I tried the "AUKEY Amp USB Charger with 60W Dual USB C & 4 USB Ports for LG G5, HTC 10, Nexus 5X / 6P and More" from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EXWXVWO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That is supposed to support Quick Charge from both the Type A ports and Type C ports but LG V30 would not say fast charging with any of the ports or cables I used.
Is anyone having any luck with 3rd party Quick Chargers? I wireless charge at night with a dock and in my car but I like to have quick chargers spread around the house for when I need to charge up fast before running out of the house.
I'd prefer Type C ports so I can use all of my Type C to Type C cables...but I'll take anything that works. Looking for multi-port options like the Aukey above so my family can charge their devices too at the same time.
Any suggestions?

Thanks....really looking for one that has USB Type C ports...I have like a dozen of those cables now (type C on both ends)...all a different color than the USB Type A to Micro USB cables that all the other phones in my house use...makes it easy to grab the right cable among the bunch of them...
Are you getting super slow charge, like 4 hrs reported or just not quite as fast?
I have the Nexus 5x and that charger charhes my V30 close to the OEM QC3 charger, just slightly slower.
I did have some issues with a desktop USB-C PCI card triggering a file transfer mode, which gave it that 4 hr slow charge estimate. I had to reset it in developer options and reboot (even though it already was set to "charge only"). Something buggy going on.

I think it may be charging close to stock charger with my Nexus 6P compatible chargers and Type C cables....but my battery lasts so long and I wireless charge at night...so have not done real test where the battery was close to zero yet.
Was hoping for the phone to confirm it is in fast charge mode...but if it still charges fast that is good enough...we'll see...
I have the same issue. chargers and cables that work with my Nexus 6P do not necessarily charge the V30. seems the USB A to USB C cables don't work as they do for the 6P.

I had something similar with the htc 10. Charger and cable both from aukey together would not work but same components paired with any other worked.
The fastest possible type C charging is Power Delivery (PD)
19V vs 9V (QC 2.0)
should we all email LG to let the know the V30 is very picky with QC3.0 chargers? maybe they can resolve this in a future update?
My V30, V20, and G5 all exhibit the same behavior when using USB-PD: 5V 2A or 9V 1.67A peak. So if you want the fastest possible charging you need a charger that supports 9V. The 5V 3A chargers wont cut it.

This has worked great on my v30. Charged it from 25% to 95% in about 40min. Only thing I don't like is that it has no light to tell if it's connected good in the plug

The fastest possible type c charging is the fastest charging standard both your phone and charger support. My zte Max xl will only charge at 5v 1.5a from a usb-pd charger, but it will charge at 9v 1.15a with a qc 2.0 charger.

I've discovered something interesting about the V30 and PD. The V30 accepts 12V via PD but not via QC3.0. Up until now all of my PD chargers have been 5, 9, and 15V but I recently got a power bank that outputs 5, 9, and 12v. I've never seen a phone accept 12v before.

I have a 12v c-c power delivery charger and it still won't fast charge my phone. When I plugged it into the a to c yesterday it said fast charging 1h 10m remaining to full and when I use the c to c it says charging 1h 20m remaining. It's not much slow but it is and it makes no sense because usb c is the fastest possible way to charge something over USB.
Why would they make this phone use USB c if they aren't even taking advantage of it? My 6p had a bigger battery that charged faster than this phone because they actually utilize the USB c.

Ordinary USB cables that support dash charging

I've read countless comments here about how dash charging requires a compatible charger and cable. However. I recently made an unexpected discovery that certain cables sold on Amazon support dash charging with the Oppo branded VOOC chargers (but apparently not the OnePlus branded charger). I discovered this by accident when I plugged this cable into my Oppo charger:
Cable Matters USB-C Cable (USB A to USB C Cable/USB C to USB Cable) in Black 6.6 Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S8GU544/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_dkTJBbN069J3Z
Using this cable I get the beep, the blue light and the dash charging icon, and my OP6 does in fact charge at the faster rate. Wondering if it was a fluke, I bought a second cable and got the same results. This is great since these cables are 6 feet long, thin and flexible, and appear to be well made.
Now here's where it gets really weird: both cables only dash charge when plugged into the Oppo branded wall charger. When connected to the OnePlus charger they only charge at the normal rate. The Oppo charger looks exactly the same only with different branding. I do not know why these cables seem to work with one but not the other. I cant think of why they would support dash charging at all except that maybe they're made for the Chinese domestic market.

Is it safe for your cellphone?
From what I understand, OP has a way of knowing if one of their cables is connected. If using a generic cable, it will default to slow charging.
Seeing that OP fast charging is based off of OPPO fast charging, it should be fine.
I would assume the OPPO brick doesn't care who's cable you're using as long as it can support the higher charging rate
Ordered both, the USB/C cable was just delivered, 3ft is long enough. Found it on Amazon for $5 and the OPPO charger on eBay for $10, that's about a 1/2 price of Oem from OP site.($8 and $20 respectively) It's always good to have a spare 'just in case'.
Interesting find.

I have read people recommending to get Oppo VOOC charger brick, as it supports Dash Charge.
Oppo and OnePlus are same companies.
Yes, its recommended to just buy oppo charger / cables. Both are the same and support dash (same name with vooc) . It's alot cheaper too.

Sometimes its the only option.
I am in Australia and the only charger with Australian pins is available through Oppo.
OnePlus does not manufacture AU chargers currently.
I have the official oneplus dash charger and the dash charging is activated with all the cables I have (an old huawei cable, and 2 generic ones) , but it took 3 to 4 seconds for the phone to activate dash charging while it is almost instantaneous with the official cable.
act OPPO and ONEPLUS is made in China and same parent company...instead of dash charges, OPPO call it VOOC
What about OPPO rapid (aka dash) car chargers for OnePlus?
If you can wait for shipping from China:

Poco F2 Pro Charging Study - How Fast does it charge?

Hello
So a couple of weeks back I upgraded to the Poco F2 Pro 6/128GB from my Mi 9T.
I have been using a magnetic charging cable with my Mi 9T, with a little magnetic part permanently in the usb port for convenience with a standard QC3.0 charger. Worked great and charged fast at 18W.
I wanted a similar solution for my Poco F2 Pro.
So I have done some testing and the results might surprise you.
Poco supports 30W Mi Turbo Charge which seems to be a custom Xiaomi charging protocol and does not seem to play nice with standard USB PD3.0 Protocol.
I have done charging tests from ~5-20% battery for maximum charging speeds and tested the actual charge rates with a USB Voltmeter
Voltmeter:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-Mete...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648
Test 1: Original Charger and Cable
Result: 30W Mi Rapid Charging (~9.6V, 3.1A) As Expected
Even tho the original charger is rated at Max 33W, Poco only charges at 30W Max.
Test 2: 60W USB PD3.0 Charger + 5A Type C to Type C Cable
Charger: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0824S38VC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Cable: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07QPNRGYH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Result: 18W Standard Fast Charging (~9.2V, 1.9A)
I did multiple tests to check if the charger is legit (which it is, many of my friends use it with different devices and it works great) with my brothers Pixel 4XL, and my friend Xiaomi Mi 9.
Pixel Charged at 18W, Mi 9 at 27W.
The phone did not charge at 27W (~9V 3A), even to it does support PD 3.0 charging.
Test 3: Original Charger with a 3A Ugreen Magnetic Cable
Cable: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ugreen-M...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648
Result: ~25W Mi Turbo Charging (~9.6V, 2.6A)
This is very interesting since it does trigger the Mi Turbo Charge, it is not the full speed charge like with the original setup.
Original setup also has a charging animation, with the % increasing at a steady speed.
With the Ugreen Cable, there was no animation.
Test 4: Original Charger + 40W Huawei Supercharge Cable
Cable: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08CR7W2T1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Result: ~25W Mi Turbo Charging (~9.6V, 2.6A)
The original Xiaomi Cable is a 5A Cable, so I thought id try a Huawei Supercharge Cable, but it ended up charging the same as a 3A Ugreen Cable
Test 5: 60W USB PD3.0 Charger + 5A Magnetic Type C to Type C Cable
Charger: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0824S38VC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Cable: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08HLN27DP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Result: 18W Standard Fast Charging (~9.2V, 1.9A)
Again, standard 18W fast charging, not 27W as you would expect.
Conclusion:
From my testing, the only way to charge the Poco at Maximum speed of 30W is with the charger and cable which I find very strange. Does the original Xiaomi cable have a custom Xiaomi chip which handshakes with the charger to get the full 30W Mi Turbo charge?
With a PD3.0 Charger, I was only able to achieve 18W of fast charging, again very strange, since Poco should support 27W (~9V 3A) charging with any PD3.0 Charger.
I have settled for a setup with the Ugreen Magnetic Cable and the Original Charger for convenience, ease of use and preventing the USB port from being worn out. I am loosing about 5W of speed, which does slightly increase the charging time. (I charge my phone to ~85% max)
(If there is something wrong with my methodology let me know and I will re-test if needed)
I approved with an Aukey 29w Fast Charging charger (model pa-y7) and the same charge at 18W, even with the type-c cable on both sides (Baseus brand cable up to 60W)
It seems like Xiaomi cable and charger have an extra pin. That might trigger and power the turbocharge

I don't know at which rate it charges but it triggers Charge turbo animation with the % increasing at a steady speed with almost any proper USB-C to USB-C cable.
I've also found that if you launch the CIT on the phone by tapping on kernel version 3 times on settings->About this phone->All specs
and go to the charging test (number 24) you can check which protocol is being used
If you use any QC3.0 charger it says USB_HVDCP, which triggers fast charging but not the charge turbo animation.
If you use a regular PD charger it says USB_PD which also triggers fast chargingbut also not the charge turbo animation.
If you use the original setup it also says USB_PD which means that extra pin it has on the USB-A connector is wired in a weird way it actually negotiates usb PD protocol, which I can also confirm because I connected it to a Thinkpad T480 and with the Lenovo Vantage software gets 27W charging, which is not possible with any USB-A to USB-C cable and QC3.0 charger.
Which may mean that maybe Xiaomi didn't want to pay for the QC4.0+ chipsets or something and did some weird stuff to get PD through QC3.0 by that pin and through the F2s software reducing the cost of the charger in the box and whatever else. As for this GaN 65W charger I have no idea on how they pull that off but is a proper PD charger
Since the update to Android 11, a set of cables that previously triggered the Turbo Charge, now suddenly work only as Fast Charge.
They were a bit slower than original before, but now they are a lot slower.
I only have the Accubattery measurements:
cca 4000 mA average on Android 10,
cca 3000 mA average on Android 11.
While the original charger + cable shows about 4500-5000 mA average.
They really managed to screw this device.
On ArrowOS my device charging at 1.8A and 7.5V with original charger and wire... so it depends on software. But anyway I don't want to downgrade from perfect OS to buggy MIUI only because of that.
I also have seen a weird change in charge speeds..
Used to be totally fine but it seems that for a while now the speeds are very slow and quickcharge isnt working anymore..

hey have the same problema. here. teh only way to get fast chager is with the original charger al cable. PD charger give me fast charge. but all my other chargers that gives me fast charger in other devices gives me NOTHING now.
original charger 4300 ma,
PD: 1200 ma
fast chargers QC 3 and others: 230 ma !!
****ty old chargers : 230 ma.
so what the hell? I was thinking that I screwed the port of the phone with magnetics cables before read this.
Just my 2 cents here. Don't try to charge this phone with super fast chargers. Mine developed the well known fault that you needed to press the corner of the phone to get it to start charging. I even opened it and put a bit of a tape behind the ribbon cable connector (as some guy suggested on YT). It started charging again and then after a couple of weeks and a few more quick charges it stopped charging at all. I guess heat affects the connector or some element on the board. I've just ordered a new usb board and ribbon cable from Ali and if the phone comes back to life again I will never ever use the original rapid charger that came with the phone.
