Xtrons PQS Series/PX6 1280x480 Android 10 image (PX6) needed - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hey all,
does anybody have an Android 10 firmware image for the Xtrons PQS series head units or for a PX6 in general with a screen resolution of 1280x480? Xtrons just sent me an update.zip but no full image to restore my HU to a working state.

If you have the correct firmware installed, then maybe the resolution was changed during the previous installation, read the last page from message #89, here I explain how to change the resolution using the dmcu.ext file, in message #98 the owner is xtrons and for a resolution of 1280x480, he used screen :11. During these attempts, it is important to enter recovery, if you do not have this option and the screen goes black, then there will be a problem with the corrective update. First, save the current factory settings in the dmcu.cfg file. Factory settings/ EXPORT/ save dmcu.cfg to external storage, in case of problems with it, update from recovery MCU, all settings will return to their original state. I am not responsible for any mistakes, you do everything at your own risk.
MTCD/E MCU firmware modification
At the beginning: Flash/Upload modified MCU firmware can brick unit !!!! (in particular from an unknown source, untested etc.) Maybe this thread will not only affect the modification of the MCU firmware. I hope that this will help us understand...
forum.xda-developers.com
There are other numbers for 1280x480 in all-display-timings.txt that you can try. Open the dmcu.ext file in notepad and change the number:

Can i safely update my MCU using an upgrade PX5 board without updating the ROM also?

I bought a while back a Chinese MTCD PX3 'ouchuangbo' unit with as MCU: MTCD_HLA_V1.88_1 running on android 5.1
I then upgraded this PX3 system with a PX5 board from wilson and installed this on my system, it was a matter of plug and play and it works fine, the unit is now working for several weeks on the new PX5 board using the Malaysk PX5 rom on android 6
Because the MCU is an older version I contacted the seller and asked if there was and update available for the MCU.
It seems 'ouchuangbo' indeed had a newer MCU version available with number MTCD_HLA_V2.46.3 but they answered to me the following after i asked if i could receive the update files:
'Our engineers said: If you want to upgrade the MCU software, you need to upgrade the main program at the same time. If the operation is not correct, the upgrade may fail. If the upgrade fails, you need to return to China to repair, all costs you need to bear. Because our main program and MCU software are updated. While upgrading the two software, the system more stable. Our software is android 5.1. '
I also received from seller the 2 following files: dmcu.img (189kb) and dupdate.img (850mb).
Is his answer true and can i NOT update my MCU with the current PX5 board with this new MCU update safely without flashing the ROM aswel?
Must i first place back my old PX3 board before i update my unit?
Or can i only update the dmcu.img running Malaysk PX5 ROM and keep the current ROM without risking to brick my unit?
Who can advise?
You can safely use dmcu.img without flashing dupdate.img.
Before updating MCU, make a backup of MCU config

Thx.
Any idea how do make a backup of the mcu config?
Go into factory settings and you Can find the "export settings" button
Inviato dal mio Redmi Note 3 utilizzando Tapatalk
Also, maybe search thru some of my recent threads. I have accomplished the same for my mtcd-kd unit with some pretty interesting experiences. If you have a 1024x600 unit, you should have no issues.
Use the dmcu file by itself, do not flash the PX3 dupdate image on the PX5. At this time we have franken machines. Use the dMCU file from your manufacturer or known compatible unit and the PX5 dupdate image of your choice. However, I would perform any updates individually.

In factory settings you can export mcu.cfg
To re-apply the settings, just put the mcu.cfg file on the SD card with the mcu.img. Or, once mcu has been upgraded, you can remove the mcu update (.img) from the root of the SD or USB Stick card and apply the config (.cfg) on the root of the SD or USB Stick separately - by running the 'upgrade MCU', it will see .cfg file and apply it.

IS this a safe operation? I can see restoring the dmcu.cfg for the same version of MCU Code that was originally installed. HOWEVER, I can see how an application of a dmcu.cfg file may not function appropriately if a different version of MCU Code is in place.
Anyone have a 100% answer on this?

I upgraded my originally JY PX3 MCU to HA after installing my PX5 board (see cross-compatible MCU thread.)
Unfortunately there are no guarantees in this risky process.
Your concern appears to be around factory settings/dmcu.cfg - to mitigate this risk, document all of the settings as they are found in the factory settings menus. E.g. "knob mode", volumes, customer version, radio, bluetooth type, hardware keys.
I had to manually set some of these factory settings after applying a backup from my Joying config, as it appears that the vendor mcu contains some configuration which takes precedence.
Good luck.
i got no luck.
When i started the update it fails with:
do not Match mount /mnt/external_sd
Installation hctextcfg aborted.
do not Match mount /mnt/external_sd
Installation mcucfg aborted.
do not Match mount /mnt/external_sd
Installation mcuimg aborted.
updata fail!
System works further normally, but the mcu version is still the same.
Contacted the seller and they insured me it was the correct version, they would as the enigineer on monday.

Thank you
Is it possible to make a full backup off the mcu? I mean a mcu.img. I have the mcu.cfg already.
Also got the update of a HLA PX3 unit with 7.1 from the manufacturer, nupdate.img and mcu.img.
But to be sure I want a backup from the original mcu.
Any updates here? I have also al HLA unit, a PX3 7.1 than I have upgraded with a PX5 board. I would like to update MCU...

@Pavel-71
thanks for the replay,
my unit says in factory settings i have a WQ_BC6 bluetooth device, is this compatible?
There should be no problem with WQ_BC6. Before upgrading to android 10, I recommend updating the MCU. Save your settings before updating your MCU. In the factory setting, there is an export button for this. Locate the dmcu.cfg file and copy it to external storage. In case of problems with the control or the image after updating the MCU, you will return the settings with it.
The update is the same as the MCU update, just use dmcu.cfg.
You can download the latest updates, including your current one, here:

II do not bear any responsibility for any errors caused by the update. You do everything at your own risk !!!

Question China FYT flashing to Joying?

Hi. I bought a Chinese FYT head unit that look exactly like Joying...
Was wondering if it's possible to upgrade it's MCU to a Joying one.
I tried downloading Joying firmware however when I plugged into my head unit... It doesn't work like Joying where it automatically update the firmware.
The zip file from Joying consist of a big zip file.. after extracting, there are some folders together with another big zip file.
I went to settings, factory, and selected MCU Upgrade .. but it doesn't recognize any of the files within.
If possible I hope this community could teach me how to upgrade my MCU....
Thanks in advance.
My unit information can be found in the attachment. PS. Not sure why XDA don't let me attach image.

short answer, no. Note, MCU is not android.
You have latest mcu (53) = YIN. what is it you actually want or think the joying firmware will provide?
Suggest reading forums.

Hi, so my issue is that the UI that it provided is not to my liking... i would want to change the UI but the seller told me that he have no idea how to do it. my friends model... same but 10 inch.... has the option in changing the UI.
In my Factory setting page... the only available UI is UI17. I was looking at other threads and was wondering if TS10 firmware works for my device. The UI that TS10 provides looks nicer.
Sorry... but i dont really understand much despite reading. IMO its just a hardware trying to flash with different firmware... and base on the similarity of the device... i fail to understand the complexity in it.... (Im probably wrong in this aspect)
P.S. Im totally new to this and is trying to digest....
I'm not sure if your firmware will allow it, but there are other launchers that can be installed from the Google Play Store. They will change the interface and many of them have different themes that you can switch to. You can view them directly on your head unit from the Play store. Here are a few:
CarWebGuru Car Launcher - Apps on Google Play
Car launcher with themes, widgets, music control, gps tracker, and customization
play.google.com
Car Launcher - Apps on Google Play
Launcher for use in the car
play.google.com
AGAMA Car Launcher - Apps on Google Play
Home screen for car multimedia systems for Android OS (30 day TRIAL)
play.google.com
After installing one or more of them, they may ask you to switch the default launcher when you run them. You don't have to. You can try them and if you don't like them, delete them. I believe if you go "home", if will go back to your original launcher if you didn't switch the default. When you go into the settings, under Apps, one of the options is to display and define the default applications for different functions. You can also change them there. I use CarWebGuru and it looks very different from my original launcher.
If anything goes wrong, as a last resort, you can always switch back to your original firmware.
Just out of curiosity, go to Google Play and look for "Fake Device Tester" and check if that is really an Android 10. I have an unbranded FYT in my car (vertical Tesla-style) and it's a fake.
I need firmware for this car stereo I don't know model and name can you tell me please? Where and how to download?

You first should have read the documentation on this forum, including how to make a flashable backup of your unknown FYT unit before flashing it with something else.
And what did you do? Flashing the firmware or trying to upgrade your MCU with a Joying MCU (rule no. 1: Never ever do that !!!, and this is also rule no. 2 to 15)
Your flashed Joying firmware probably has in its config.txt the following line
Code:
sys.fyt.bluetooth_type=1
I guess your unit needs either 0 or 2.
The radio not working is probably due to a mcu firmware mismatch. Joying is type 43 (ro.build.fytmanufacturer=43). Your unit is probably 0 or 116, or some other value. Do you still have your orignal firmware with the original fyt.prop?

Question YT-F6002B Yes another Sofia headunit Slow as hell (Factory reset??)

Hi to everyone, I have an android headunit that I found on the car that I bought that is slow like hell.
I would like to make a factory reset of it but once I do it from the android menu almost nothing happen (not even the apps have been removed!!!)
So I decided to do it from the recovery but I am not able to access it.
At the end I decided to update it but I can't find any certain firmware for this headunit, I know that is a sofia 3GR BUT with only 1GB of RAM.
the MCU is: 2018-08-28 15:06:40 FY_(NOR)__90_C9_7706_6023_Newlap_18EM
Can anyone help me with this slow radio?
I found the updated firmware file. But I can't upload.

Thanks, but i already have that. The main problem with my headunit is bluetooth wont work anymore after i changed my mcu from hxd to gs, now i want to return to 3.70 hxd but i cannot find it.
This is the latest I found on 4pda. You can also install an older version. Or try asking the seller, maybe he has an update. Or try changing the bluetooth type in the factory settings, maybe the GS update switched it for you. If you made a backup of the settings and have dmcu.cfg, update the MCU with it. Anyway, crossbreeding the MCU is not recommended, but you already found that out.

Try HA see my thread for cross compatibility
I tried all the bluetooth adapters from the factory settings but nothing works.
I also noticed the name of the bloetooth is blank no name and no pin
The MCU update may have changed the customer's version, you can find it in Factory settings in the Other tab. This can change Bluetooth names and passwords. If you remember what version number you originally had, change it, but first save the image of the factory settings in the dmcu.cfg file. In case of problems with it, update the MCU from recovery, all settings will return to their original state. I must warn you that the change may cause a black screen and change the control of the buttons, so what you do is at your own risk!
