Has anyone got the Qualcomm Smartphone Write IMEI Tool working? - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

This tool: https://androidmtk.com/download-qualcomm-smartphone-write-imei-tool
This guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/4427589/
I need to repair my device. I'm trying to get that tool to connect to my 8T but I don't know which (of the many dozens) of drivers to force it to use. (Windows won't auto-detect the correct one.) Different phones use different drivers from the list. Without the right driver installed, it just says "Error: the smart phone connection timeout!"
Been at it for 18 hours and no luck. I really don't know where go from here. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what your ROM installation process was, however at this point sounds like you need to use the MSM tool and recover your phone.
Unbrick tool to restore your device to OxygenOS <-- Use this thread.
Also from that thread:
Go to device manager and make sure your phone shows up as QDLOADER 9008.
If it shows up as QHUSB_BULK, it means Qualcomm driver wasn't installed automatically by Windows Update.

Drivers are in that thread.
Screen will be blank / off during this process when you are in this mode (what you are seeing). At least that is what I believe you are describing / seeing.

Why is my device getting in Qualcomm crashdump mode in spite of a successful download?
Your unit was most likely manufactured after March 9th 2021, see https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ice-to-oxygenos.4180837/page-14#post-84789741 for reference. You therefore need to use HydrogenOS 11.0.7.12 MSM to recover your device linked at https://www.oneplusbbs.com/thread-5886794-1.html (mirrored at https://mega.nz/file/O8UySbgR#cXGlHkdA_7CYEhKIrek9zzAEwJ7Vx1D5BZdemnPlvGE by @pikatenor ). Getting new OxygenOS MSM tools is nowadays impossible unless you own the device it is meant for, so OP will not be updated to add new OxygenOS MSM tools allowing to workaround this issue. Feel however free to reach out to me in DM if you would like to get told how to maximise your chances to obtain one.

BRICKED ONEPLUS 8T FOR NO REASON

GUYS I NEED SOME URGENT HELP.
I bricked my phone accidentally by trying to relock my Oneplus 8t coming from EVOLUTION X. It's showing me "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and will not boot". I really don't want to hand it back to customer support since it's my only phone. If someone can give me a solution, it would be great of them.
Thank you very much.

I would recommend using the msm tool for the correct region (check the guide forum for links) that will wipe your device and restore it to stock.

I have already tried using the MSM tool. I can't even get my phone into recovery mode, how I am suppposed to use that application then?
You sure you can't get into edl mode by following these instructions? It is almost impossible to hardbrick a OnePlus 8t so it can't access edl mode
Power your device off.
Let it cool down for one minute.
Hold both volumes in to get in Qualcomm EDL mode and the screen will stay black. While holding, plug in the USB cable from your phone to your computer. Let volumes go alter plugged in.
Wait some time (should not be longer than ~300 seconds).
Enjoy your brand new device.

No I just tried that. It doesn't work. Any other tips please?
If msm tool won't work and if If you can't access fastboot to try and flash a rom there. I think contacting customer service and sending it in for repair is your only choice.

Keep trying... It can be really tricky to get the timing right. It took me a while to finally get it connected when I used the MSM tool. I can't remember what finally did the trick, but if I remember correctly, the phone screen was still black so it didn't seem like anything was happening but the computer showed it connected.
Hello. Just an update, I managed to get my phone back to life by using the MSM tool and installing the Qualcomm drivers (this part which I hadn't done before) and it worked out. Thank you very much. I love the OnePlus community!

Question OP9 Hard Bricked, cannot enter EDL mode because Windows won't properly recognize device, please help

I followed this tutorial. Qualcomm drivers worked briefly for detecting my device initially. I unplugged, opened up the MSM tool and went to plug the phone back in to begin the process, no luck. Now when I check device drivers it shows this error (Device Descriptor Request Failed). Does anyone have any experience with how to fix, its driving me nuts.

Keep at it.
I spent two days unbricking a 7T when it happened. Take 2/3 tutorials and see that every condition is met. Don't forget to look for the proper Qualcomm pilots, you might need to update them manually. (If I didn't know any better I'd say that your problem here)
The drivers you're looking for are named QDLoader something.
I know it should work because I did it on the One plus 9 if my memory serves me right, you just need to follow through and make sure that you also have the right MSM tool.
Pay attention to small details like the phone might be crashing on the start you should restart accordingly, or maybe you're not pressing the right volume button (was it up + power? I don't remember) and see what your computer sees plugged in.
Use more than one USB cable just in case but seems unlikely.
I followed this procedure since the one you referenced the google docs link would never download for me: https://www.droidwin.com/unbrick-oneplus-9-pro-msm-download-tool/
I had to use the alternate method to get to EDL mode in that tutorial since the normal one did not work. I also had to uncheck the box that said something about SHA256 before it would say Waiting.

OnePlus 8T TMO | KB2007 | A12 to A11 Issues

Hello,
I recently upgrade to A12 it has caused a bunch of problems with gaming and general performance. I have tried following several guides to rollback using the MSM Tool to no avail.
What I have done is download the MSM Tool. Install the QUALCOMM driver. Everything seemed to be working, but the tool had an error bout "DDR detection failed" or something. Another user said to check Windows updates for a QUALCOMM device driver, so I did that. Now the phone is detected as MTP USB device when in EDL mode and I cant uninstall the driver.
I'm at a loss here. I do see that the guides don't mention KB2007, so I'm not sure if it's even supported>? I also tried downloading the A11 image and using the APK MyApplication2 to rollback, but that gave an error as well. Am I just screwed?

[SOLVED] Unbrick hard-bricked OP 8T

Hello people, unfortunately, I bricked my phone and am stuck trying to unbrick it.
How the bricking happened:
I bricked my OP 8T when I tried to update my OS from Lineage OS 18.1 (Android 11) to 19.1 (Android 12) following this guide: Official Upgrade Guide, I installed the firmware according to Firmware Upgrade Guide.
I can access neither recovery mode nor fast boot mode, adb doesn't work anymore, and I can't boot into Lineage either.
So the bricking occurred at step 7 in the first guide when rebooting to recovery. Note: I was surprised that the guide does not mention also flashing the recovery image in step 6 (it is an .img file not .zip). So I didn't flash the 19.1 recovery image but only the Lineage OS. Maybe that was a mistake.
Unbricking steps I tried:
I followed this guide for the unbricking procedure and this guide for installing the Qualcomm driver.
In the device manager, my device is correctly shown under ports as Qualcomm HS-USB QLoader 9008 (COM3).
I put my phone into EDL mode and it says connected in the MSMDownload Tool. When I now press "start" it says "Open Serial Device Failed". Edit: after rebooting pressing the start button now gets me "Sahara Communication Failed, Please try again after power off phone (PBL:6)"
I tried different versions of the MSM Download tool (the Europe versions, the global versions, and even the newer one of the TMobile versions from the above link), all with the same error message "Open Serial Device Failed".
I tried many different USB ports USB 2 and 3 under Windows 10.
Now I'm out of ideas on what to try.
Can anyone help me?
Cheers,
Alex
Yeah, that happened to me too. Obviously the LOS guides are missing something.
The only way out is to abandon all the data and Msm to stock...
You don't have to try different versions of MsmTools, you can only use the one which matches your hardware.
Pick yours from these:

About your Sahara error, try these steps:
1. Uninstall any driver completely you've installed manually;
2. Plug-in your device while it's under EDL mode, and ask Windows to check for update;
3. Install the driver from Windows update from "Advance Options" - "Optional Updates";
(Or from here [ https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=qualcomm hs usb 9008 ])
4. Press phone power button for over 1 minute and try to reboot it into EDL mode again;
5. Try EDL flash again.
My phone is now unbricked again. I used a friend's computer and followed some scattered hints. I used another USB cable, a USB 2 slot on a 64bit Windows with an Intel processor. There the MSM Download tool worked without a problem.
