You should learn a lot about Android before moving on to install custom ROMs (there are Nougat custom ROMs for Z3).
Unlocking Bootloader and rooting should be an easy one to achieve for you. If not, Google those things or search on XDA. If you rather just jump in and flash anything you think is good, you will end up with a near-dead device.

Not sure if trolling or serious.....
There's loads of Z3 Nougat AOSP and CAF ROMs now here in the forums....
Just take the time to read about unlocking bootloader and the effect this will have on your camera quality and warranty (which I don't think anyone has now).
They are worth taking the time to learn about.
But as said if you just dive into it you will almost certainly brick your phone and not know how to repair the software.
Do so at your own risk.
Hey everyone
I have a Japanese Xperia J1 Compact (D5788) .
I want to install a custom rom and give it life again, however it's not really popular overseas, so no one making any roms for it.
I think Xperia J1 Compact is basically a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact that came a year later
because the specs are very similar.
So I'm wondering if I could use Z1 compact roms on J1 Compact? Could it brick the phone that way?
Does anybody know how to flash a Global ROM on xperia 5 ii Docomo? Is it available? Please help I am a noob to this
