Question How to use Google Photo unlimited 15Gb capacity? - Google Pixel 7 Pro

How to use Google Photo unlimited 15Gb capacity? I am using 1 Pixel 7 pro and rooted, can anyone guide me in detail?

Google Photos used to have an unlimited storage if you chose to have the image optimised. But they stopped this, so you now have to pay for more storage if you need it.
Google Drive storage is very cheap, and is definitiely worthwhile having.

I bought Pixel7Pro in January this year. The Google One offer was valid for 3 months only! As scotsman said, I ended up purchasing subscription.

Using Magisk + LSposed + Pixelfy GPhotos, you can trick Photos into thinking your device is a Pixel XL, and get unlimited storage at original quality. It's working great on my Pixel 5

There is also a module for Magisk, so no need for LSposed.

A word of caution on installing Pixelify on a Pixel device.....
I've spoken with at least 3 other Pixel users where a lot of their "Pixel" experience was messed up because of installing that module -- where they were only installing it for the Google Photos mod -- although that was in Feb. or Mar. and there was no independent "submodule" at the time so things may have changed -- but, IIRC, the members were still having issues even after uninstalling/removing the module....
Balti/Baltiapps version/fork works perfectly and as intended enough that, just as roirraW "edor" ehT's reasoning on sticking with platform-tools r33 where "if it ain't broke...", I would stick with that until/unless it stops working....

Is it just me, or is "15GB unlimited" a contradiction?
Just an FYI, I build ROMs from, source, so over the years I have created many MANY free test accounts when initialising ROMs. I now have 10+ accounts, each with 15GB storage. Admittedly, I use them from the desktop where switching accounts is not an issue, and have never tried accessing different accounts to my main account on a device.

Depending on the phone that Google thinks you're using, photos may or may not count towards your Drive storage quota.
The OG Pixel/XL get unlimited storage at any quality - for life.
The Pixel 2/2XL got unlimited storage up to 1/16/21, unlimited Storage Saver backup thereafter
Pixel 3/3XL same as above but cutoff was 1/31/22
3a thru 5 get unlimited Storage Saver backup (16 megapixel/1080p)
All other devices: Any Storage Saver photos backed up prior to 6/1/21 don't count towards storage quota
Pixels 5a and later don't get unlimited anything
The Pixelfy module spoofs Pixel XL fingerprint to Photos only, for unlimited Original Quality storage

I only installed (only) the Unlimited GP backup submodule and it worked without problems.
On the other hand installing whole Pixelify, even with opting out other features can indeed cause problems as there could be conflicts between features flashed from the Magisk that are already present on Pixel 7/pro.
FYI: With flashing this submodule you are loosing Pixel 7/pro exclusive features like Magic eraser or Unblur.
Magic eraser will appear (not immediately) if you have Google One/Storage subscription.

halogenOS Checklist
Although no data should be lost or damaged by the flashing process,
we advise you to follow the following steps if you are coming from another rom:
Please take a full nandroid backup!
Please copy your back up to an external device.
Backing up your Internal Storage is also recommended.
When completed, please clean flash the build!
Although you usually can dirty flash halogenOS over other ROMs, considering the other
ROM has the same Android version, it is not guaranteed. In case of serious
crashes please do a clean flash.
If you get app crashes after dirty flashing over XOS 6 or another ROM, please just
clear the app data of those apps, and it should work fine then.
XOS is a new generation cutting-edge OS for Android based on Code Aurora Forum releases.
What is XOS?
halogenOS, also known as XOS is a new Android ROM which ships with the global aim to
become a modular ROM which keeps as high as potentially possible operating
performance on your mobile device while still maintaining a sufficient feature
base of nice, small and minimal features that would not be available via any
external feature base, extension, mod or plugin.
We hope you have a truly halogenified experience!
Internals of XOS
At core, the ROM is composed mainly of components from CodeAuroraForums (CAF),
featuring only extremely minor set of components from CyanogenMod (CM) which
have been added to source in order to allow for better cross-device compatibility.
Our LOVE to others
A huge thanks goes to those behind the CodeAuroraForums (CAF), the CyanogenMod
organization and all of its
contributors for the sources used in the development of the base ROM which we
started with inclusive of all the work and dedication their team puts in order to
keep us updated on the awesome contributions that they make.
We will be keen on ensuring that we be up to date with the code from our base sources,
with regular ROM updates hopefully coming from time to time.
Please do not ask for ETA's (else you shall be spooked by Mr Skeltal). Almost all of us are
students, and with the current lifestyles and routines we have, it is not that easy to acquire
time to develop the ROM, though we'll be sure to keep you updated and release OTAs as
soon as they are available and ready for publication. If you want to be really updated quick,

Wow! good to see some new ROM for falcon. I have a doubt, as mentioned the steps to flash the ROM without wiping is only for updating the ROM version, right? Now I'm on RR 5.8.1, so to move to this ROM I'll just wipe clean Cache, data, system and then flash ROM+Gapps - correct?
Edit: Sorry for the fuss, I read the whole post again found what I needed, thanks anyways, will try this ROM soon.
So this was the rom i had no clue about in the AFH falcon section.

Dirty flash if you are updating the rom, it means only if you are already on Halogen OS.
Otherwise clean flash.
REALLY smooth
Bugs: lantern not working
Didnt like: not being able to take out the adaptive brightness button next to brightness slider in QS
Boot time (restart) only takes about 40seconds, amazing!
Very nice ROM.
Camera is also not working.
And I wasn't able to flash open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20170212.zip

Oh, yeaaaah. The greatest of cherries to be on top, if you catch my drift.
Unless my reading comprehension is worse than I thought, there is no mention of over-the-air updates (the ever-lovely OpenDelta). So, it's not available? Not that I particularly care, but I find it's absence curious.

Signature spoofing is a feature that lets apps, well, spoof the signatures of other apps (see attached picture: the FakeStore app — what is otherwise an empty app with no actual functionality — "disguises" itself as the genuine Google Play Store, getting rid of apps' whining that Google Play Services isn't installed; similarly, the microG Services are detected as the genuine Play Services, allowing microG and its unique functions to be used instead).
This feature is implemented as a hidden additional permission you have to manually grant apps that request it (you never get request popups, so it's unlikely you'll accidentally end with a rogue app doing Bad Things). Depending on the ROM, you might have to additionally toggle a hidden switch to enable the feature (I never got around trying this ROM; I'll do so once the camera is fixed, so I cannot tell you if it's the case here).
Thus far, MicroG and related apps of the project are the only ones that should appear once installed.
MicroG is a free (on both meanings of the word; as in free beer and as in freedom) reimplementation of the famous Google Play Services and Framework. It's mostly for people concerned with their privacy, who wish to get rid of (or at least severely reduce) Google's influence on their device.
Also, it's much more battery friendly.

It's a bit of a pain to set up; signature spoofing is not supported by the vast majority of ROMs (you can patch a ROM to add support for it, but again, it can be a bit of a pain since you'd have to repatch every time you upgrade the ROM (dirty flash or OpenDelta OTA)); some Play Services features aren't yet implemented (see the microG website for details) — this includes contact and calendar syncing (although you can separately install the respective Google Sync apks and they work fine; but it can be distressing at first. Also, alternatives such as DAVdroid are available).
You might run into issues getting certain things to work properly (the infamous "stuck at 'Just a sec...' screen" and "asks me to add an account already on my device" some people experience).
It might sound daunting, but I think it's worth it if you have the time to spare.
...but we are getting off topic, aren't we?

[GUIDE] VIVO NEX S/A Apps Safe To Uninstall/Disable Without Root

The subject of app/bloatware removal/disabling has been mentioned in a few threads throughout the NEX forum, but, not much to mention as far as advancing the discussion,so,I thought I'd start a thread to centralize the topic.
As w/any mods go,this is one that's fairly harmless, worse case scenario,a factory reset will get you back on track, but, ultimately everyone is responsible for their own phone & what happens to it.
With that out of the way..............
1) Any app that can be easily uninstalled by the "uninstall" button is 100% safe,no harm whatsoever. If you want,d/l an apk extractor tool app to make a copy & store wherever, should you change your mind.
2) Now,most are interested in getting rid of as many of the VIVO system apps as possible w/o crippling wanted functionality. This will be an evolving list,& gradually adding to it,with input from anyone interested,I'll update the list right here.
3) OK,the How-To is right here: https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
4) Now here's what I have so far (see below,I'll edit/add as needed)
Any input regarding adding to the list is encouraged, please only suggest bloatware that you have actually uninstalled yourself & please include any effects on functionality that may have resulted, especially if it affected other apps & their functionality. (question marks below [??/etc...] are in place of Chinese letters/characters)
5) Once again, tried & tested input is highly encouraged & welcome. The list will grow & evolve/be edited on a continuous basis until we all get it figured out. :good:
******** A factory reset will restore all uninstalled apps
******** OTA's shouldn't be affected or affect the status of apps, whether they're installed or uninstalled (unless,of course, you've deleted something pertaining to updates, which won't be listed below)
******** The dates reflect the time of posting/removal,for ease of troubleshooting,in the event something noteworthy gets broken,it gives a good reference where to begin looking for the problem/solution.
*****************************************************************************************************************
I no longer have this phone,soooooo......
I'm looking for someone to take over the thread as the OP,to manage/edit the OP/List as they see fit.
I've already received pre-approval from the Admin/Moderator staff to make this happen,if anyone is interested,P.M. me.............................

Yes, absolutely..... I'll post every time a new app is either added or put back. I'll also add notes per each app if needed, especially for the ones that are system apps & not in the app drawer.

Updated OP with Dates of Removal, to facilitate troubleshooting in the event something of consequence gets broken.
I'm using the latest Windows 10 build where command prompt is replaced with Powershell. Have tried various options on the internet to revert back to command prompt (including going to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar and disable the option to use Powershell), but still stuck with Powershell. Any other workarounds ?

I'm also on WIN10 & using Powershell, seems to be working here, been using it on various phones for ADB & Fastboot commands since day one.

Great post - many thanks. I must have uninstalled something I shouldn't have as the swipe up from the middle to get multitasking no longer works !!
Any ideas ?
I think i will wait to see if we can get and install the global rom before trying to uninstall some chinese app.

Nothing really jumps out from the list in the OP.
1) Are you able to use the nav buttons & get to recents/multi-tasking?
2) Did you uninstall anything that's not on the current list in the OP?
Many thanks for this great thread!
I have received my NEX today and right now am uninstalling stuff. If I get any new to be removed safely I will post here!
Best greetings from Austria!

Thanks for the reply. I made sure that I only uninstalled items that were indicated safe in your post and some from the post by WhySoSeriousJoKer. I certainly have not uninstalled 'com.vivo.upslide' which was flagged as disabling navigation gestures.
All the other gestures work fine, it's only the swipe up from the middle to bring up the open apps !

Yeah, I wouldn't have uninstalled that one either.
For troubleshooting purposes, can you try out using the navigation buttons, see if you can access recents/multitasking?
Also, which software version were/are you on when you lost the multitasking function?
It probably doesn't matter, but, any information for troubleshooting purposes is always a good thing...

You show com.vivo.browser as one of the apps that can be removed. When I send Location Sharing from Google Maps to a contact via messenger, the link opens up using the vivo Browser app. Can this be defaulted to another app before that browser is removed?

Here's the choices of sharing that pop-up,with the apps removed (on 7/7/18) :

If I tap "Select People",my Google contacts appear & I get a link to direct share & it selects my default texting app (Textra,FWIW).
EDIT: @Saloei
As for if the default can be selected before the VIVO Browser is removed,I don't know,TBH,this is the 1st time I've ever used Location Sharing,LOL.
Can you send yourself a Location Sharing link selecting MESSENGER and then add your phone number as the receiver to see if it'll work with no VIVO BROWSER app installed?

If you're speaking about Facebook Messenger, I don't use Facebook, but I was able to share the link with Textra, my default messaging app. I shared it to myself on the same phone, using both SIM Cards & using the same SIM Card as sender & receiver.
Also sent my location to another phone I have via Textra with no problem whatsoever.
Perhaps someone here who has already deleted the VIVO Browser & uses Facebook can verify it'll work.
My guess is that it will, but, I can understand if you're hesitant, most don't want to have to start over via factory reset if, in the unlikelyhood, it doesn't work.....

Question What are the non essential APKs to remove if i care about privacy or debloating?

After the fiasco of debloating so much my battery was permanently on energy saving mode and my GPS wasn't working correctly with some apps i decided to reset from factory and try again. Does anyone know more or less which apks are entirely non essential, spyware, bloat, or google stuff that can be removed?
FB, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, etc are all trashware and major privacy threats.
If you insist on using them do so by browser login only.
Use Karma Firewall to lock apps down so they can't connect with the internet.
I prefer to use a package disabler as you can make changes on the fly, use it for troubleshooting and completely clear system app data with no nulls left behind.
Dependencies... many apks rely on other apks to be fully functional. Names can be misleading.
Many of the Samsung apks just sit there and do nothing unless called upon. Many smaller ones are used to modify the UI and will cripple it if removed.
I disable all cloud apks especially Google backup Transport (I don't use it for backup). I normally keep Google play Services disabled unless needed for Gmail or Playstore
Playstore disabled unless needed.
All OTA updates are always disabled to avoid rude surprises.
Bixby never runs. All MS junk never runs.
Google Firebase, all carrier, Samsung and app feedback disabled.
I have about 80 packages always disabled and about 7 that are sometimes used which include "problem" apps on my N10+'s. I have one running on Android 9, one on 10. Both are package disabled profiles are almost identical.
The Android 10 variant has over 100 more apks than the 9 variant, many of these are all essential system apks the modify the UI so it's compatible with Android 10. The result is both devices look and behave almost identically. Samsung went to a lot of trouble to make Android 10 functional, don't undermine this by blinding disabling apks as the results will be less than optimum
What's also interesting is the Android 10 variant gets near the same or better battery life as the 9 variant. Those additional Samsung system apps impact on battery life are not perceivable.
Play with it, each device, user needs and setup are unique. One size does not fit all. You need to learn what's best for you on that particular variant. Fun times...

The easy stuff to remove are those bloat crap, its the other background stuff that worries me, THAT is the stuff that you never know how important it is or it could be some background data collection i wanna get rid of. I removed all google services and some apps didn't want to update anymore (did some just use google services even without an account to update?)
From what i understand Bixby is security related, and a lot of it is required to keep the device functioning, however i never used its features and i believe them to be somewhat privacy intruding, same with find my devices and such. That's why any help on a list would be appreciated.
I dont suppose you would also happen to know what's a good browser for the phone? i was using Firefox then DuckDuckGo then Brave but from my understanding there's little difference between them.
At least now i learnt my lesson, next time im just buying a phone compatible with /e/OS or lineage.

What OS version are you using?
Bixby can be wiped, however Bixby Vision and Bixby Vision Framework are used with the cam to read QR codes though. You have to test to see if more of Bixby is needed for QR codes. I don't use this feature. The Bixby eula is a *****.
Knox are the Samsung security apps. They ones I can disable cause no harm, not sure if that holds true with all of them though. I do not disable knox attestation com.
Knox is a default system Administrator on stock Samsung's. No idea what disabling that will do... be careful. Samsung Pass is also a default system Administrator. I leave these alone.

SM-A325M. Dunno what the M stands for, its the southamerican market one. Sadly reading QR codes is something i will have to do. Although i dont know how intrusive or concerning Bixby might be regarding privacy. I know that Knox is all just security related but i always enjoyed to remove the features i wasn't gonna use. Sadly the harder parts to remove are the things that start with samsung and are necessary for some things to work.
OS version Android 9,10 or 11?
The goal is to remove only the trouble makers not damage the functionality or usability of your phone.
Even after 2 years I'm still exploring my N10+. If the feature has been arbitrary blocked you'll never know it was there and/or it may cause erratic behavior with other apps.

11. Yeah, i dont remember what you did say, its just that im a guy that really likes the simple things on a phone. Yeah im THAT kind of guy that sometimes wonders if there's an use to a phone to begin with.
To make things a lot simpler is there any way to check which apps use data or send info back to google or samsung or log my activity for example?
Im also noticing after setting back to factory settings that the phone keeps showing me a notification to copy and paste data from the previous phone using smart switch, OR log in to google. I do not want to log in to google at all and while this notification does not prevent me from doing anything is there a way to stop the phone from constantly asking me this?

I personally use ADB.
It is much easier to block Internet access of apps you don't trust than removing them with the risk of breaking your system. Use NetGuard if your not rooted, or AFWall if you are or need to use VPN.

Question root banking apps problems

Hi, so I need a little help here as I am not sure what I can do anymore. So yesterday got my new phone and rooted and everything worked fine. Revolut and my other banking app worked, in fact everything worked fine netflix google wallet etc.
Today i don't know what happend but my other banking app which is Reiffeisen Smart Mobile stopped working while everything else including Revolut(a banking app) still works. I tried to downlaod other common banking apps in my country and they are not working aswell. I have tried to switch to Shamiko module but its still not working.
Does anybody has any ideas what went wrong or what else I can try?
Oh yeah I forgot to mention that YASNACgives me basic integrity pass cts profile match pass andevaluation type basic.
Play Integrity API Checker giiives me MEETS_DEVICE_INTEGRITY and MEETS_BASIC_INTEGRITY green and the other one red but that is fine from what I know.
add the desired apps to the denylist, but don't enable the denylist. seems counterintuitive but it's needed for shamiko. enable zygisk and shamiko. if that doesn't work, check the magisk forum as certain banking apps simply will not work and others may have their own tricks to get working.
For me Wallet won't work, and my main banking app probably sees something as it won't enable fingerprint login... So there's something at play here probably.

Some apps just won't work no matter what you do. In fact there is an app called AirFrozen - https://github.com/hyongbai/AirFrozen that can freeze Magisk from the system and still my app Security Service Federal Credit Union cannot even get to the login screen.
You have to decide if being forced to use the bank's website is a worthwhile tradeoff for what you get from root.

Wallet works. I hid all Google apps. But trust me, just get a watch. I forgot my phone at home tonight on a liquor run and I decided to try my (unrooted) Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 LTE edition anyway... Even though it was not connected to the network (my provider doesn't have watch capability yet) and thus had no data, the transaction went right through. This was so thrilling I literally did a tiny jump in the air and a very very short dance at the grocery store (note to self: don't go there buzzed again, really hope it was slow enough I won't be TikTok'd)... I can do whatever I want with my phone and as long as I don't root the watch, I can always tap to pay! Seriously cool as hell. Plus the rotating physical crown on the watch makes it look like an actual watch instead of a piece of glass on a fancy strap.
But yeah... All my apps work when I use AirFrozen except that SSFCU app...

Try "IAmNotADeveloper" module. I used to whack my brain looking for a way to bypass my banking security, turned out the lazy ass developers of these respected bank decided to simply detect whether developer option was turned on or not to assume whether the phone is rooted. Such a lazy and stupid way.

I was under the impression the watch is a separate device. I mean... I just was *shocked* (and even did a happy dance) when I forgot my phone at home tonight and my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic still worked despite being bluetooth (well it's LTE but not activated because my carrier doesn't offer it). There's not even a mechanism for a Bluetooth device with no app to check the phone for root.

That's the experience I had some time ago...
Just tried it again thanks to your comment and I was able to add my card, I think for the first time ever! Will try buying something later to confirm.
Any way to forego the need for a pin?

I don't know about the PIN. I think it's tied to dollar amount? I spent $33 earlier and it required it but I know it didn't leave my arm in that time so maybe it's an extra precaution? I dunno, doesn't take much time. This was my first time doing it so I can't answer the ins and outs but I'll definitely be doing it again because even typing the 6 digit PIN, it's faster than whipping out the Pixel 7 Pro and using the FPS.
No I was talking about the necessity of a watch PIN that pops up when you set up wallet on it. The issue is that you need (or so I thought) to enter it every time you want to do something more than look at the time. However, after a few times that I had to enter it earlier when I set it up, it, for some reason, stopped asking!
I bought some groceries, paying with it worked just fine after all (and it didn't even ask for the PIN).
Thanks for convincing me to go through with it

add the desired apps to the denylist, but don't enable the denylist. seems counterintuitive but it's needed for shamiko. enable zygisk and shamiko. if that doesn't work, check the magisk forum as certain banking apps simply will not work and others may have their own tricks to get working.

I have tried that, the problem is i know for a fact it worked as in the first day everything was fine, after one day it stopped working. I am not sure what I have done to change that.

Try "IAmNotADeveloper" module. I used to whack my brain looking for a way to bypass my banking security, turned out the lazy ass developers of these respected bank decided to simply detect whether developer option was turned on or not to assume whether the phone is rooted. Such a lazy and stupid way.

Ok I found the solution, not quite the developer options, but i assumes that the only diffrent thing from first day to the second was that I enabled usb debugger to use revanced cli and guess what... Disabling it made the app work so yeah...
I feel like a moron XD.

No it's the option inside developer options. It has nothing to do with revanced, though i just need it to use de cli and install APK by mounting.

It stops asking as long as it senses it hasn't left your wrist from how I understand it. I think mine only asked last night because I didn't have it on very tight.

The aim of the lazy developers is indeed the Debugging option, because those option is needed for plenty of root/nonroot based modification.
the "IAmNotADeveloper" module hide 3 things :
- Developer Options State
- USB Debug State
- Wireless Debug State
one of my banking app wont let me use fingerprint security when Wireless Debug is on. Lame and shame on them
btw, am not running this on Riru. Am on Zygisk Lsposed + Shamiko + Universal SafetyNet Fix.

SD Maid SE (aka. SD Maid 2) is the successor to SD Maid (SD Maid 1/ SD Maid Legacy).
A new app, optimized for modern Android versions, and ready for Google's future challenges .
Description:
SD Maid SE is an open-source zero-bull**** system cleaner.
SD Maid deletes files and you get more free space. That's the deal!
SD Maid 1 and 2 share core features:
CorpseFinder: Find files belonging to uninstalled apps
SystemCleaner: Delete superfluos files from all over the device
AppCleaner: Delete expendable ("hidden caches") files from apps
AppControl: Manage installed applications
Scheduling operations
Protecting files with exclusions
Download links
Google Play
Google Play Beta Builds
GitHub releases
SD Maid SE has a "Pro version".
The Google Play release requires a payment, while the Github release asks for a payment.
Be nice, support your devs .
Changelog
GitHub release notes are the official changelog.
Bugs / Requests
Please use the issue tracker for bug reports.
I'll also discuss issues else where but usually a lot of helpful information gets lost if it's not organised, so use the issue tracker if it's important .
Feedback and bug reports are very welcome. It's a beta release, please be gentle.
I promise it's not as rough as SD Maid 1's first releases though .
If you encounter an issue, a video of it and a debug log would very useful.
You can go into Settings>Support and click "Debug log"
To stop the recording, find the related notification and click on done.
Things I'm looking for are:
All kinds of app crashes
Weird UI behavior
Bad results, either false positives that shouldn't be shown, or false negatives that SD Maid 1 finds, but SD Maid 2 doesn't
Of course any clutter that neither SD Maid detects
Specific instances of slow down. Not general "it is slower than SD Maid 1", but it something like "AppCleaner" takes super long if I don't exclude App XYZ"
Very keen for this! Long time Pro user of SD Maid 1
What a fantastic birthday present!!! SDMaid2 and myself will be sharing this day from now on. Thank
Will SD Maid 1 get further updates or is it time to change and pay again? But I have done it to support your work
I no guy th and used the pro version of 1, and will now be happy to purchase and use v2. Will get and prob purchase tomarrow!!!
Long time pro user of SD Maid, i love your work!
I think AppControl is the part of the app that needs the most work to get all the old features: filtering is not present, such as every possible action you can do in SD Maid when clicking on an app to manage

Filter and search will be there soon.
I'm open for a discussion on what features we need.
Currently it just has some shortcuts and enable/disable for apps.
Uninstall of normal apps could work, but doesn't work well without root? Uninstall for system apps with root is a can of worms... due to remounting etc.
Rootless mass uninstall via accessibility service maybe? Will have to check Google policies on that...
So I have some questions about going pro. I have no issues with repurchasing new app or doing a subscription, but 1- is subscription monthly or yearly and what is the cost? 2. I'm guessing there won't be a 1 time lifetime (of new app) payment to go pro? I'm only trying to figure out what would be the best option for myself while not being wasteful but also supporting development. I mean 5.49 for 2 years is fine, but if there were an option for lets say 10$ for 5 years or lifetime of app(obviously no guarantees it will go on for 5 years) I would pay the 10$. Or I'm guessing you are doing the subscription/2 year payment because you are not comfortable making a longer commitment longer than 2 years of support? Just seeing if there could be another option so I don't have to remember I have to purchase again when the time comes.

I use it with root,
Things that are missing:
- uninstall/mass uninstall, at least for user apps
- freeze/mass freeze
- close/force close (mass close/force close)
- activity list and the ability to create shortcuts from them
- export apk
- clean data
I mean, sd maid has an app manager, sd maid 2 has an app list for now.
I don't know what's your intention, maybe you don't want to integrate a full app manager in SD maid 2, but in case you want, well, all the features of the old app are missing
With the new Update the settinge Button dont work
Anyone tried this on a Firestick or Cube yet? Does it work with Amazon Fire Devices?

I think you might have misunderstood the upgrade screen.
It's currently ~5€ for lifetime, or ~2€ per year.
Anything idea how I could improve the wording?

It's a bit of an experiment, I don't have a lot of experience with subscriptions.
In general I think that a subscription is a better model for development because it incentivizes development that keeps existing users happy as much as gaining new users.
With an IAP you are encouraged to "chase" new users, add new features that motivated new users to buy an app, not such much keeping existing users happy that already upgraded.
Also resource wise it's the more "sane" model for developers to live on, as it's constant income. The economics on apps, e.g. buy an app once, free updates forever are brutal.
Most users hate subscriptions and probably wouldn't switch to SD Maid 2 if it was subscription only, so I also have an IAP. While worse than a subscription for devs, it worked out well for SD Maid 1. Though this is also an extreme example. Early pro users got 12 years of updates for like 2€?3€? Was only feasible due to how popular SD Maid is and how lean I could do development.
I'm only trying to figure out what would be the best option for myself while not being wasteful but also supporting development.

I'm working on mass selection currently so that will come. I have created some feature tickets on GitHub to see which app manager functions have demand.
Uninstall functionality · Issue #30 · d4rken-org/sdmaid-se

SD Maid 1 will get maintenance updates (security, small bugs), but no compatibility fixes if Google breaks stuff or general improvements.

Couldn't reproduce it on an Android 14 emulator.
Can you force a debug log by creating this file:
/sdcard/Android/data/eu.darken.sdmse/files/force_debug_run
and sending it to me after reproducing it on the log?
We dont have to search further because I want do it and now the Button works
So I'm not understanding the 1 time purchase breaks even after 2 years. That is what is throwing me off. So if it's 2$ a year and the 1 time payment of 5$ for life of the app or it will be 5$ in 2 years?
Thanks for the refreshed release! Purchased the Pro to support the development.
A suggestion if I may - AppCleaner to run in the background instead of foreground, just like the old SD Maid.

It's 2$ per year or 5$ for lifetime.
Why is this so confusing? You are not the first person to be confused by this.
I just don't understand where the confusion is coming from, can you help me understand?
A product can both be "rented" and "bought". Buying something is usually more expensive than renting it. Let's say you can live in a house for 2$ per year, or you can buy the house for 5$. Then break-even point is after 2.5 years (5$/2$) the moment in-time at which it would have been financially more attractive to have bought the house.
A more visual example:
Person A and B meet in a cafe and of course start talking about the new SD Maid 2/SE.
Both agree that it's the best thing since sliced bread.
Person A buys the one-time purchase for ~5$, because they hate subscriptions.
Person B buys the subscription at ~2$ per year, because Person B isn't sure that they will keep using it.
Then life happens. After 3 years they both meet again on the street.
The first thing they talk about is of course how great SD Maid is.
Person A then asks Person B if they are still using Android and using SD Maid via subscription.
Person B admits that they are still using SD Maid and paying for the subscription.
Then Person A laughs at Person B, because if they bought the one-time purchase 3 years ago, they would have saved money by now. But for Person B it wasn't about paying less, they just wanted to provide on-going support to the developer and didn't mind the subscription.
Then they part ways and never see each other again, because friends don't laugh at friends for supporting developers via subscription.

Can you elaborate? Do you mean the AppCleaner deletion using the accessibility service? That also never worked in the background in SD Maid 1.
