Use radio when ACC is off - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hi everyone! Just got my PX6 MTCE android 11 radio (I think 800x640 or something? Misadvertised as 1080p lol) and I am pleased with it so far.
However it only works when the key is in the ignition... It goes into sleep when the key is removed and the power button does not wake it up. Same case when I turn off the engine, it goes straight into sleep mode unlike my OEM radio which would remain on until I pull my key out.
I spend a bit of time with the radio on when the car is off, so I need it to be able to be used when the key is out/car is off.
Is there any solution to this? I briefly checked factory settings and couldn't find much...Would I need to root it? Or should I try to put a relay in the harness? Surely it is software related? Thanks!

Also, the OEM one could be turned on anytime, regardless if the key was present.
The unit I bought was a drop in replacement which included the harness for my car, if that is important.

QTEK 8300 power management

I just got a QTEK 8300 almost new but I got also an issue about the power management: after the display time out (all kinds of value), it seems it gets sleepy deeper and deeper and at the end, I cann't get it work at all: no key press can wake up, even the power on/off key, nor the incoming call, nor managed applications such as IE or WMPlayer. The led near the power button is blinking. The only way I found is take the battery off and put it again
If I set the display time out with "Never", it works well. If I set another value but with the charger, it's also OK
The issue exists for all ROM versions I tested: original when I bought, others like: wm6-for-tornado-perfect-english-edition-20070810, Build_5.2.1616.18120_____v3.7, wm6-for-tornado-perfect-chinese-song-edition-20070819, Tornado_WM6_Platinum_Edition. I will also try the LINUX version
It seems a hardware problem, I'm looking for a workaround: is it possible to setup something simulating the presence of charger ?
Anyone have a good idea ?
Thanks

How to turn Backlight OFF

Hello,
i am using my touch cruise (or better o2 xda orbit 2) for navigating on my bike.
I use it in my pocket, only listening. After some research and testing i found a way to use tomtom with locked screen.
I now want to turn the backlight off because of power consumption. But when locked the backlight is only turned to minimum, not off. How can i turn off the backlight completely ?
I tried several tools which turns the whole display off. This works fine with all applications except tomtom, i dont know why but as soon as the display is switched off tomtom stops.
So i want to turn at least the backlight completely off, but how can i do that?

With my older pocketpc's and pocketphone's the backlight could be turned down with pressing the power button for a longer period.
I told it was about 3 sec holding te powerbutton and the backlight stops.
But with the HTC TC i din't tried it yet..and my device is now at the repair centre..so you have to try it.
But when the backlight is down..you don't see a think when ther is enough sun light..so why do you want that..buy a usb car powerplug and you can charge it and use it with full light on!
Does not work (3sec pwr button)
I dont need to see anything on the screen. it will be in my pocket while navigating so theres no need for backlight.
And a car charger on the motorbike - that would need a socket to plug it in.

Thanks, i already tried it before. As soon as the screen gets black TomTom stops.
It says it turns the backlight off but as far as i can see it disables the whole screen. And as soon as this happens the f***ing TomTom stops the Navigation.
If i press the pwr button for 3 sec the device asks me if i want to turn it off.

Hi remoh, I'm having the same problem. Have you found a solution for disabling the backlight by now?
How did you manage to lock the screen and keep TomTom navigating?
Let me get this straight... do you want to turn the screen off (i.e. lock it) or just turn off the backlight (in which case the screen remains active)?
For the second case there should be some options for it in TomTom, but it's primarily for in-car use. (never used TomTom before, it's crap for my country... i'm just basing on iGO)

Being able to turning the screen off would be great but just being able to turn off the backlight would be fine also. Tomtom doesn't have an option for this afaik.
Now, thats the second reason i won't use TomTom... if the first wasn't enough
Not even power saving options?

HA 10.2" MTCD black screen -- with flowers...

So I started my CX-5 about an hour ago to be greeted by a black screen full of flowers. Literally. No idea why. This happened one other time, and it seems as though once it powered completely down, it comes back up fine. I have the timeout at 2hrs, so I have to wait quite a while to see if it's going to be ok.
I tried to reboot the unit by holding the reset button down, but all it does is put it to sleep. Actually, a short press caused it to mute (literally displays 'mute' on the display), and a long press puts it to sleep. Tried the press it till it goes off then release, then press again -- doesn't do anything but wake the unit up again.
The steering wheel controls all work fine. When I parked it last night I had the radio playing, and it was still playing when it started with the black screen. Volume and fwd-rev buttons on the SWC work fine. None of the capacitive buttons on the LCD do anything except home and power. Power puts it to sleep. Home displays the launcher screen (Car Launcher Pro).
If I press any of the app buttons in car launcher, they send me back to the black screen. Pressing the speed in the launcher switches to the trip display like it should.
Anyone ever seen this?
Anyone know how to actually reboot the thing short of pulling the fuse (if that would even work)?
The car has resistive steering wheel controls and *also* has a canbus decoder to tell the Bose amp what to go do with itself. I didn't actually have to use the KEY1 or KEY2 - I assume that the Mazda ISO adapter that they sent has this built in but I dunno.
Running MCU MTCD HA version 1.81
Thanks for any help...
That's happened to my MTCD a couple of times and seems to be when Android's user interface hasn't loaded properly for some reason.
Pushing a paperclip into the reset hole until it reboots normally fixes it for me.

Reboot with a paperclip as other guy pointed.
Your can bus not only plays with Bose amp....it gives you the reverse signal for the Camera as it is coded by can bus.
You have nothing to do with cables as they are properly wired for your installation

I have tried the paperclip method. All it does is put the thing to sleep. Doesn't matter if I hold it for 5 seconds or a full minute the result is the same.
the flowers thing is one of the default wallpapers
Hi !, try this......

this video shows how to enter recovery, you need to re-flash the firmware one in the recovery.
Good luck

@DudeInMyrtleBeach You have the same Head Unit as mine. How is it now? I have not updated mine yet. Can you update me on how your car radio is right now?

@Sylvan15 -- I had the flower screen one more time after I did the firmware upgrade, but I was able to reboot with a paper clip and I have not had an issue since.
Thanks

I got the same screen in my HU but only when car launcher is installed. If you remove the launcher that screen will not show again. Maybe is an issue with the car launcher with the units. I am using an MX (witson) version 1.93
I thought it might be car launcher. I haven't had any issues in quite a while though.

Mtcd px5 no touchscreen or buttons after wakeup

My MTCD unit touchscreen or soft buttons don't work after wake up after key off.
I have to key on - key off 3-5 times before they work. Once they are working unit performs perfectly until the next key cycle.
I think it's a software issue but is it Firmware or MCU
I am seeing the same intermittent problem with my PX5 unit, screen is black and push buttons do not work, cannot enter recovery mode either, then for no apparent reason it will work normally for a while.
I suspect there is a hardware fault with mcu or maybe even some other failing component or poor soldering. I have raised the issue with the seller but would be interested to hear from others as to what they think the likely cause may be or what can be checked to narrow down the problem.
As far as I can tell the battery and acc voltages are good but 7805 and 7809 regulators do not appear to be powering up in my case?
Mine isn't as bad as the unit will continue to play music from the point key is off and steering wheel controls still function.
Hello, did you manage to solve the problem? I have the same issue after upgrading from PX3 to PX5. The unit works fine after booting (if the power is disconnected). The problem is after wake up, since it does not support to turn it completely off any more.
Did you do something before it happening (e.g. a firmware update, mcu, or?).
Thank you.
I have the same issue with my new GS PX5. Before I had another one which hadn't this problem.
My problem seems to have been solved by updating the MCU to HA 2.61. Now the menu to control shutdown behavior shows up in the Extra settings and I chose the 30 sec delay.
Not sure if auto sleep works too, need to try.
Alex.
My top soft buttons stopped working.Everything else work ok but all the top softbuttons doped working. What can I do?

Dasaita (HotAudio) PX5 Mitsubishi Lancer Issue

I seem to be having an issue with this radio on cold boot; The issue that occurs is when I turn the car key nothing happens (radio acts like it is dead). At this point I have to press and hold the RST button until the lights blink many of times (sometimes this procedure must be performed 20 times) before the device will come back to life. This issue only occurs after the car has been off for more than 2.5 Minutes. Does anyone else have this issue or know the fix to this issue?
I have tried updated the MCU and the Android software to the latest android revisions to see it that would correct the issue, but it does not.
Any assistance is appreaciated.

That's an odd issue. Is it can bus connected? What does the vendor suggest?
Same car and same unit. But i dont have those issues. Check all connections. If it still does not work, bring it back and buy another one.
Non canbus connected unit, vendor was suggesting that the connections were loose but I checked them and even tried the setup on a table top power supply and got the same results
