Question Restore on a new phone? - Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

Hello.
I have a pixel 7 and i juste buy a galaxy flip 4.
I want to restore my data.
All was backed up on google one.
I don't find how to reste this backup on my galaxy.
Another question, which one is the most piwerful. The Samsung smart switch transfer or backup with Google one?
Thank you

Go for a clean hand load. I would not use SmartSwitch especially if going between manufacturers and OS versions. It doesn't save 3rd party app data. It can fail you miserably.
All critical data should be copy/pasted then verified for data size and readability. Apps that allow you to import/export settings, like Poweramp do so.
Before you begin make sure all critical data is backed up redundantly at least 2X on separate drives that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and the PC!!!

Hello.
I made a backup of my pixel 7 with google onr, but i don't find any way or button to restore the bzckup on the same or another phone.
Do you know why?
Thank you

But what's the point of being able to make backups if it's completely impossible to restore the backups?
And sorry but my question was about restoring not doing backup.

Understood, have you already tried Google? First result:
Back up or restore data on your Pixel phone

You are talking about that?
When i install my new samsung phone, the only option i have for backup or restore is samsung smart switch.
I tried 3 time after reseting 3 times my new phone...

I'm sorry, I somehow missed the prior posts. You're restoring from one type of phone to another. I thought you were restoring a Pixel backup to a Pixel phone.
You cannot restore a Pixel backup on a Samsung device. Some things should restore - apps, maybe texts and calls, etc, but no settings. Your photos are still available in Google Photos.

Then smartswich is the only way for a non root phone?
The problem is that it does not backup the settings and data of my apps.

Hand load it. If you don't upgrade or update the firmware that load can last years... without major issues. This N10+'s current load is now almost 3 yo, still fast, very stable and fulfilling its mission.
Again relying on SmartSwitch or its predecessor Kies is an accident waiting to happen. Then you'll be back to having to hand load it anyway, maybe missing a huge chunk of your critical data. It's not that big a deal and it helps you to familiarize yourself with the phone. Samsung's are full of features...

It'll require a hard reset .... backup everything with Sprite or SPB Backup first.

The other day I exchanged my 2 week old Atom for a new one since there were bugs in the Radio. For some reason the Atom would decide that the radio functionality would just turn off, but not let me know about it. Someone would call and they'd get the message that my phone's turned off even though on my screen it would say I have signal (Flight mode turned off). I wouldn't know it wasn't working until I'd try to make an outgoing call and just get 3 beeps and a call that lasts 0 seconds. After turning Flight mode on and off again everything would be fine until the phone decided to do it again (few hours later).
I thought I had the latest radio version, does anyone else have/had this issue at all? Maybe I had the same rom but older radio, maybe I had a faulty unit. Had the new phone for a day and haven't noticed it happen at all yet....
I did have one period yesterday that I didn't get any E-mail warnings through SMS messages, and after a soft reset I got four. But I attributed that to problems with the network. Except for that I haven't had any such problems.
No More internal stroge Memory After Update.
Hi All,
I also have updated the rom and it seems much better. But did any one experience or noticed about the internal storage. when i updated to Xda-Atom-ENG-20060123 the stroge memory has been disappered.Even I've checked the File Explorer cannot see the stroge.
Just see the pics which i've taken b4 and after.
According to O2, it's been reallocated to more storage memory, instead of a separate partition. IMHO, that's much better than having to deal with an extra folder or location to store stuff.

BEST way to back up my Thunderbolt for BAMF upgrade?

Hello all,
Sorry for the n00b question, but which is the BEST, most COMPLETE way to back up my personal data, if I want to update from BAMF 1.3.2 to 1.6? I want to do a clean wipe, then install 1.6, and then restore my files/data, including: photos, videos, installed apps, phone contacts, SIM contacts, Facebook links to contacts, downloaded live wallpapers, downloaded ringtones, downloaded documents, etc., etc.
Should I use HTCSense.com to back up? Verizon? An app? Which is the best/most complete/easiest?
Thank you!!!

Titanium is the best solution. Your wallpapers and ringtones and whatnot will be on your SD card so there's no reason to back them up.
When doing a full wipe it will not touch your SD card so don't worry about that.
Also, you can make your contacts sync with Google servers.
THANK YOU for the replies!!
I've heard also about MyBackup Pro/Root, has anyone tried that out? How does it compare?
How do sync contacts with Google servers?
(sorry again about all the n00biness!)

MyBackup Pro isn't as good as Titanium.
Your contacts will automatically be backed up to your Google account. When you login to your Android phone for the first time upon flashing BAMF, it will sync your contacts.
Definitely agree with everyone here Titanium is the best.
titanium is the way to go.

i tried being cheap and using mybackup pro.. big mistake.. i thought i had a sucessful backup (and didnt nandroid either) and well lets just say it sucked to have to restore everything by hand and i lost all my angry bird progress.
Ti backup pro.. just do it..
Another +1 for Titanium.

Titanium PRO UI has much more options when backing up and restoring. In a not-so-good metaphor Mybackup is a one click root and Titanium Backup pro is ADB. You have much more options with one vs. the other. I've tried both and prefer Titanium because of the options it gives you such as; restoring each application manually one by one or installing them all but eliminating the ones you do not want to install.
What I haven't seen anyone say it to to a nandroid either directly through Rom Manager or through CWM. I do both just to be safe even if they are the same. With Rom Manager, I can name it by date/name or what not. In CWM, it doesn't give me that option but it backs up the same.
I would HIGHLY recommend buying Simi Folder from the market. This has been awesome for restoring applications you would normally want on your home screen. I've attached a picture below.

Once you start trying different rom & kernel combos (and you will), go ahead and ante up for titanium pro. It's $6 which is more than most android apps, but it's well worth it. It saves a lot of time when restoring from backup
How about a nanddroid?

Titanium Backup Adds Google Drive Based Backup Option

SOURCE : Kickedface
After the long-awaited launch of Google Drive, it was only a matter of time before users began seeing integration with Android apps. While there's no official Android API for Google Drive just yet, many devs suspected that Drive's Java API would work just fine, despite a confusing statement on Google's developer site:
Warning: Apps will not have any API access to files unless the app has been installed in Chrome Web Store. To test an app during development, you must first create a listing and install it.Putting that idea to the test, popular (and extremely versatile) backup solution Titanium Backup has made use of the cloud service's Java API to bring Drive backup options to users in a recently released update.

While it's great to see added Drive support, the ability to schedule Drive (or Box) backups seems to be missing, despite the app's promise to schedule Dropbox, Box, and Drive syncs.
That being said, Titanium Backup's added Drive support makes it the first app to officially deserve this badge:

That's not a bug. I explain : If you syc yesterday and what if you install new app or do something with your applications its their responsibility to Sync it on Gdrive. Its also same with Dropbox, Box.

I get the exact same issue you were responding to, but im a bit confused by your answer. Surely if you make a backup of an app and that backup file doesnt change or get updated again, then Gdrive, should see the file is the same and skip it, not upload it again... i.e how sync is supposed to work.
Does anyone else have this problem and know why it happens?
Yes it's totally what i tried to explain.

You can schedule synchronization, it just has to be added on to the end of another scheduled backup action.

Steps by Step Guide to Recover Deleted Files Form Android
Getting back deleted files is your ultimate goal, so, we still recommend you to use a data recovery software on a PC to make it easier.
Actually, when a file gets deleted, it not really be removed forever. It has just been marked and hidden on your phone, that is why data recovery software could find and recover it.
However, the deleted files are replaceable if new files come. So, if you try to recover deleted files right after deleting them, you’ll have more chances of getting them back.
But, If you are too late and do it after weeks or months, then you may lose them forever for sure. No any software or tool can help to recover those lost files back to you.

Question Unbrick phone without wiping data

I have a stock Google Pixel 6a, which is not and has never been rooted. USB debugging is not turned on and the bootloader is locked. The phone turned off while taking a photo. The power button had to be held down a long time to power back on, at which point it was in a boot loop. Phone battery was mostly full at the time this happened and there was plenty of storage space left. It should be noted that this was not the first time the phone restarted on its own, I just didn’t think much of it at the time. The phone was not dropped, exposed to water, or abused in any way. It just inexplicably turned off mid use. Which is when I realized my cloud backup never actually saved anything from this new phone. Ouch.
The phone was only 4 months old at the time it entered the boot loop (April 8th) , which is still well under warranty, so I contacted Google, who sent me their designated repair shop. The shop told me the motherboard was bad and would need to be replaced, but the photos would be safe. An internet search and call back to the shop confirmed all data would be wiped and I would have to get it off myself before the repair.
I tried everything I could find online to get the data. All the data recovery programs require USB debugging, which I never even knew was a thing, so was still off. There are a ton of solutions for rooted phones, but mine is not. Bootloader still works, so I tried to sideload the factory firmware from April 2023, which did nothing. There was a beta version at the time, which I also tried to sideload. This resulted in the phone only showing the “Google” load screen and not alternating to the “G” one. I reloaded the non-beta version and was back to alternating between the two. At this point I started trying the less conventional methods of repeatedly pressing the power button in case it was stuck and even putting the phone in the freezer. That didn’t help either.
Having run out of ideas, I decided to pay the fee for stupidly not having my stuff backed up and sent it to one of those data recovery places, figuring since there was no damage to phone, it should be an easy, albeit expensive fix. They were unable to recover any data. The diagnosis was:
“Our engineers observed there is a corrupted system partition. To put it simply, we are unable to access any point of the phone, even directly through the memory chip due to this logical failure.”
I don’t understand why the sideloaded firmware didn't fix this though. Could the hardware that stores the system partition have failed? And is that the same part that stores the photos? Could a chip swap to a new motherboard fix this, or is the chip that stores the system partition part of what is encrypting the photos? I’m just confused and want to make sure I have exhausted all possible ways to recover these photos before I turn my phone over to be wiped. At this point, I have accepted that all the photos and videos of my daughter’s first four months of life are probably gone, but am hoping someone more knowledgeable than I can either confirm or offer another idea.

Ah, that is what I thought. Apparently, the Pixel phones up to the 5 series would keep backing up all photos at a slightly lower resolution even when Google drive is full. The storage saver benefit was removed for the 6 series and on.
