i was under the impression that the unlocked bootloader warning was not possible to be removed at all, but recently i installed a custom rom (sputnik) on my other phone (s20fe) and the warning was gone... so is that only possible on samsungs or can it be done on pixels (and other phones) as well?

Hello I think it only works on Samsung phones. I haven't seen it possible with other phone brands, but I could be wrong.
Pretty sure the warning was removed when I install Evolution X on my OnePlus 8 Pro.

Good Morning,
/* Intro
I am new to this forum and I have just received my Z3. Was made week 49 of 2015. So far this is the best phone I have ever owned even though its an "old" device (I had an Xperia E4g prior to this, and before a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime).
Anyway when I was deciding on my phone, I wanted to get the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro 3/32Gb but the shipping was 25days and I am generally iffy about devices that come in regular post. I pulled the trigger. Snappy phone no complaints at all.
End Intro
*/
Now with Xiaomi to get your bootloader unlocked is a pain in the behind and I believe it takes two weeks. What I want to know is can I permanently lock my bootloader on my Z3. I live in a region where phones get stolen and flashed, am happy with Lollipop and will wait for MM to come out and get it via the official update. I would like to take advantage of Device Protection but as we know any smart thief flashes custom rom or recovery rom to get around that. I am assuming if my boot loader is locked permanently that would increase my chances of recovering a device should it go missing. If that is the case, how do I lock the bootloader permanently.
Weird question especially on this forum I know but if I am going to do custom roms it will be with a secondary device not this one.
I guess no one has information on this?
Even with locked bootloader phone can be flashed.

Thanks for the reply.
As you can tell I am new to this.
That said I was under the impression that the protection was built into the bootloader and turned USB of in lock down.
Locked bootloader means that you can't flash custom rom but phone can be flashed with stock rom.

Thats false. You can flash custom stock-based ROM's with a LB (locked bootloader), but you cant flash custom kernels unless you have a UB (unlocked bootloader).
What happens in Lockdown?
Essentially, Lockdown will render the device completely useless unless you have the correct Google credentials to validate the device:
• All running applications are stopped.
• You can no longer maximize the notification panel.
• Incoming calls are sent to voicemail (if available).
• Outgoing calls (except emergency calls) are blocked.
• The USB port will only be available for charging. It will not be possible for a PC or Mac to detect the device.
So how does the device get flashed?

Now I realised that you are talking about mxtp. When in lockdown the only way to access the phone is signing in with your Google account.

I have a Galaxy s21 snapdragon with a locked bootloader, can not be unlocked. I have flashed many custom roms in my days on unlocked bootloaders but this is the first ive heard of flashing custom stock based roms and id like more info into doing this if youd be willing. How would i go about it?
You've stumbled on a very old Sony thread my friend, your comment is the first in 6 and a half years .
What I was talking about wouldnt be compatible with the latest Android versions with a locked bootloader anymore.
Disregard my comment in your case.
Bought a ""new"" One A9, came with unlocked bootloader. Is it safe to use?
The seller listed it as new, it was clear from the ad that it wasn't but this is not the problem (the price was right for a used phone in good conditions).
The phone has an unlocked bootloader (or so it seems from the animation on startup) and I fear that it may not be safe to use in these conditions. Furthermore, I fear about potential issues with warranty.
What do you think?
Non carrier versions of the A9 were in fact sold with unlocked boot loaders. The only A9s that came outta the box with locked boot loaders were carrier versions such as Sprint, At&t, etc.

I think I haven't explained myself correctly. I think that the phone has been rooted, as before the boot animation I see an image of an open padlock. Am I correct?

Hello guys.
I'm going to buy used and bootloader unlocked Verizon Pixel tomorrow and I'm interested in couple of things:
1. Can I flash all the ROMs that are available for Pixel on Verizon version too?
2. Can I properly install TWRP, root using Magisk, etc?
3. Can I properly flash (and downgrade if needed) official system images (and are they ever available for Verizon models?)
4. Can I take part in Android Beta program?
5. Is there anything I should be afraid of?
Thanks in advance.
Make sure it is bootloader unlocked, and not just SIM unlocked. There are not many VZ ones around that are bootloader unlocked. You need that to do the items on you list.

As I already stated, bootloader is already unlocked.
No one has an answer?
If it's bootloader u locked then yeah u can do all those things. Just do not ever for any reason ever relock the bootloader. Also I believe there have been a few cases where ppl have had semibricks or other issues which required locked stock to fix or somehow resulted in locked stock
I got a replacement about a month ago on my small Pixel and that one was unlocked. However, the one I got from Verizon in store did not have an unlocked bootloader. I'm not sure what the deal is, but maybe getting a replacement from an "accidental" break might do the trick. just to clarify, my first Pixels' usb port got completely fried and started to smell bad whenever it charged, and the phone would get really hot. I am now on 8.1 with an unlocked bootloader but have yet to actually root the phone

I am 99.9% certain that I will be upgrading to a Pixel 4a in the near future. Naturally, I will want to root. Is it possible to change/create custom boot logos/ splash screens after unlocking the bootloader? I have been able to do this with my multiple Moto phones. Unfortunately, my LG G6 was/is stuck with the hideous Unlocked Bootloader warning. While I can live with it on the Pixel as well, it would be nice to be able to change it, if possible.
Thanks!

I don't think it's possible. Bootloader on Pixel phones has a menu included... don't really think you'll be able to do that, or at least I don't know how to.
No, and you'll get a bootloader unlocked message at every boot. However, you can skip it with a double click of the power button. This is the same with any modern phone tbh. My samsung galaxy tab S 10.5 has the bootloader unlocked and it doesn't look like anything is changed, except for the lineageOS boot logo
Some time ago I bought a Pixel 2. It was the Verizon variant which has a permanently locked boot loader with no way around it.
The question is, is there any Pixel 3 with permanently locked bootloader or other restriction or can every one be unlocked and rooted?
EDIT, After posting, it showed me related posts (I did search by the way) stating that the Verizon Pixel 3 is permanently locked. Is this the only one of concern. So as long I get anything but Verizon I can root it? Thanks again.

AT&T phones are usually bootloader locked also. T-Mobile phones can usually be unlocked. Also the Google branded phones can be unlocked. However, I have seen reports of refurbished phones that had the bootloader locked during the refurbishing process. Better get a guarantee the bootloader can be unlocked.

Thank you for your help. I was able to find a Google Edition Pixel 3 and immediately and successfully unlocked the boot-loader with the TOOL_ALL_IN_ONE.
I was not able to unlock my Verizon pixel 2 with that or the Unified Toolkit as it is permanently locked.
Instead of rooting, I checked system updates. It had android 11 and did give me an update to Android 12 so OTA updates work with an unlocked boot-loader.
But OMG 12 looks horrible. The huge settings buttons with no way to shrink them and huge lock screen clock as well as all the text in the settings and no customization like in 11.
It think the biggest step backwards ever on Android. I am so happy my pixel 2 stopped at 11.
Now that I am unlocked I can do anything, maybe go to LineageOS, but am I the only one who hates stock Android 12? I suppose there are better places for that.
Thanks again.

Wait so I can use this toolkit to root Verizon pixel 3 so I can be able to unlock hotspot to tether my unlimited data plan with AT&T?
No, the Pixel 3 that I unlocked is the Google Edition. The Pixel 2 is Verizon and even the toolkits said bootloader is permanently locked. There was one older build of the VZ pixel 2 that could be unlocked, but I am past and I don't think it will allow a downgrade.
