Commonly asked questions & answers:
Q: Why am I getting "error cannot read" while attempting to sideload the ROM or are unable to fastboot flash vendor_boot
Spoiler: Answer
Well, you should be using the latest platform-tools and have it added to PATH. A lot of unofficial drivers floating around on the internet install outdated adb/fastboot along with the drivers. Please refrain from installing these as well as minimal adb & fastboot; Use the official google driver and official platform-tools instead.
Alternatively you can prefix each adb/fastboot cmd with ./ while in the platform-tools folder via powershell or bash, etc.
For example:
./adb sideload ./rom.zip
This basically tells the shell "Hey, I want to execute this local binary rather than the one in PATH".
Q: I'm a windows user and my device is not being listed when I run adb/fastboot devices. I'm using the latest platform-tools, what could be the reason for this?
Spoiler: Answer
Use the official Google USB driver
Q: I'm a linux user and my device is not being listed when I run adb/fastboot devices. I'm using the latest platform-tools, what could be the reason for this?
Spoiler: Answer
Set up udev rules
Q: Will you release builds in the update.zip format?
Spoiler: Answer
No, we will not be releasing builds in that format due to a handful of reasons; The main reason being that it is not able to be installed via OTA and is incompatible with our official devices infrastructure.
Q: Why is MTP and/or Android Auto not working?
Spoiler: Answer
Set the default USB configuration in Settings > The Evolver > Miscellaneous > USB Configuration
Don't see your question? Well, feel free to post a comment in this thread, we will reply as soon as we can. We'd appreciate if users used XDA FIRST and the telegram group as a LAST RESORT.
To be continued (I'm sure).
Custom Kernels:
Custom kernels may be flashed at YOUR OWN RISK. However, we will not provide extended support regarding such and it is up to YOU, the end user to make your reports in the appropriate thread for X kernel, not in this thread.
Obtaining root:
Let it be known that we will not assist anyone with bug reports until they have disabled all modules and restored to the default, unpatched kernel that is shipped with the ROM!
Root can be obtained by either one of the following methods.
Spoiler: Method 1 (flashing magisk.apk/zip)
1. Download the Magisk.apk on your pc (you can change the file extension to .zip if you wish, though it is not required.
2. Reboot to recovery
3. Navigate to Apply update -> Apply from ADB
4. adb sideload magisk.apk (replace "magisk" with actual filename)
Spoiler: Method 2 (patching init_boot.img)
1. Download the full rom.zip from post #2 of this thread
2. Download payload-dumper-go that corresponds to the architecture of your pc
3. Run payload-dumper-go against the rom.zip
4. Grab init_boot.img from the extracted folder and transfer it to your device
5. Patch init_boot.img with the magisk application and transfer the patched image to your pc
6. Reboot to bootloader
7. fastboot flash init_boot init_boot.img (replace "init_boot" with actual filename)
Spoiler: Retaining root across OTA updates
When an OTA update is available, let it download and install. Before rebooting simply open Magisk Manager and click on the first "install" button and select "install to inactive slot". Once it's done, reboot and enjoy.
Reporting bugs and submitting logs:
In most cases logs should be provided when reporting bugs. This can be done by enabling USB debugging in developer options of the device, connecting it to your PC and running one of the following cmds depending on the type of bug/issue while reproducing it:
General system log
adb logcat > logcat.txt
Kernel log
adb shell su -c dmesg > dmesg.log
Please provide a detailed description of the bug/issue as well as link/upload the log you had taken.
There are exceptions to this as some issues are unable to be caught in logs. In this case, it is expected that users provide clear and accurate steps to reproduce the issue.
Getting involved in the development:
We've set everything up in such a way where all you need to do is install AOSP build dependencies, initialize a repo client, init the tiramisu-pixel branch of our manifest, sync the code and lunch your device (e.g lunch evolution_cheetah-userdebug); Roomservice will automatically sync all device specific dependencies for you to compile without error. There is no need to manually clone anything due to this and applies to Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, 7 Pro & 7a (oriole, raven, bluejay, panther, cheetah & lynx).
Device and ROM source changes can be submitted on github to the appropriate repositories by making pull requests via comparing forks. Please follow the google patch format for commits and triple check your changes by compile testing and verifying they're correct. Please retain proper authorship if you are not the author!

Do we need to run Fastboot -w --disable-verity --disable-verification update rom.zip each clean flash?

Thanks for sharing your hard work. It's much appreciated!

C:\Users\namet\OneDrive\Desktop\platform-tools>fastboot flash vendor_boot recovery.img
Sending 'vendor_boot_a' (98304 KB) OKAY [ 2.226s]
Writing 'vendor_boot_a' FAILED (remote: 'failed to flash partition (vendor_boot_a)')
fastboot: error: Command failed
PS first time seeing this method... is adb update better than fastboot zip?

It seems Rom flashed with no issues.
Appreciate all the work and extra perks, especially the ability to have brightness slider at the bottom and built in font selector! Amazing work!

This is the format builds should be in, not update zips. Official LOS will be using it, graphene uses it, hentai os uses it, and now us. The OTA package format also allows us to push out OTA updates, whereas with update zips we cannot.

The ROM base is AOSP. The vendor and device tree used were taken from LOS. I don't see any issues if it works fine?

Why does it matter? Everything is publicly available and open source. Either use it or don't. Please don't flood a new thread with nonsensical questions.

You make it sound as if there's anything actually wrong with that, lol? I hope you go look at the source and realize everything is from google with the necessary changes for custom roms added on top. The trees being a fork of los doesn't change that or make it any different. Inform yourself before asking nonsensical questions, you're just making yourself look ridiculous at this point.

thank you op for this build... in the flashing instruccions i have noob questions (sorry):
- Have OOS 10.3 flashed to both slots!! <-what does this mean? flashing the "copy-partitionsAB.zip" file with twrp?
- Make sure you're running the latest TWRP <- do you refer to the official twrp 3.3.1-0?
- Boot into recovery
- Flash BUILD.zip <-do you refer to evolution x 4.4? do i need to wipe something before? like system or dalvik cache, or cache?
- Flash TWRP.zip <-do i had to reflash twrp? using fastboot flash recovery xxxxx.img command?
- Wipe Cache <-how? do i need to enter to recovery to do it?
- Format data <-the same?
- Reboot to recovery (optional)
- Flash Magisk.zip (optional)
- Reboot to system & #KeepEvolving
thanks in advance for your comments.
I liked this ROM. I expected a little more to performance, but thats not problem. The only one that is bothering me is that I cannot record audios. Why?

I'm confused too. What exactly is OOS 10.3. I tried flashing A/B partition copy, but then i couldn't flash the rom. It says error flashing rom. If only the setup guide was clearer

the guide is indeed messy...
my guess is that OOS 10.3 is OxygenOS (oneplus stock rom) so it mean that this flashing tutorial is for another device (not for evert)
i recomend the flashing tutorial for lineage.. it will apply for any custom rom, but as usual, do it at your own risk.. don't blame me for hard brick or anything...
hope you can make it.

Hi we really appreciate your work, but if could make the guide more elaborate. Atleast, let us know how we can flash the rom without flashing OOS. Thank you.

the guide is indeed messy...
my guess is that OOS 10.3 is OxygenOS (oneplus stock rom) so it mean that this flashing tutorial is for another device (not for evert)
i recomend the flashing tutorial for lineage.. it will apply for any custom rom, but as usual, do it at your own risk.. don't blame me for hard brick or anything...
hope you can make it.

Hi! I just found that the download file on sourceforge for latest release is actually for another device. Make sure it is for evert. Last update file for evert is dated as 2020.06.16 Download that file and try again. I'm doing the same

thank you op for this build... in the flashing instruccions i have noob questions (sorry):

I found that when I flashed the ROM, I had no APN. I had to use the attached to be able to create an APN. Search to find the appropriate APN codes for your carrier/region.

Hi to everyone. I must say that is a great rom! I liked.
I have a little issue, maybe anyone can help me: The sound is TOO LOUD. I've tried to control by V4A but sounds bad and with distortion over speakers, and the speakers works very well in stock rom.
Any Ideas? thanks in advance
fingerprint unlock does not work, any fix?

A special thanks to @EmanuelCN for work hardly on Device Tree, Kernel and Recovery, without it this Rom wouldn't be possible.
What is BlazeOS?Blaze is unique from other android 12 ROMs - Remember how Google changed the whole way the QuickSettings panel looked? Well, if you liked those smaller, round Quick Settings tiles from previous android versions which look much cleaner while also retaining the goodness of the MaterialYou theming system - then BlazeOS is for you. BlazeOS is also a customization feature rich ROM where you can tweak the UI according to your needs. It also has some interesting extras like the all new GameSpace, colored statusbar icons, UDFPS customizations, clear all notifications button, and a ton more!!
KNOW ISSUES- VoLTE (Will never work on custom roms on LG phones).
- 10 bit video recording (Watching content in 10 bit works, you just cant record video in 10 bit format).

INSTALLATION
QUICK FASTBOOT-DRIVER GUIDE INSTALLATION:How to install:
1. Extract the fastboot-driver.zip.
2. Open device manager
3. Click right on " Android " it should have a yellow warning icon, press on update driver
4. Select browse my computer then press on let me pick from a list of available drivers
5. Press on Have disk and then go to where you have extracted the zip file and select android_winusb.inf
6. Done.
IF YOU FACE SOME FASTBOOT ISSUES DOWNLOAD FIX-FASTBOOT ZIP :Instructions: Copy it in main directory (usually in C: drive) and run it as administrator, problem solved.
ORANGEFOX GUIDE:If you have acces to fastboot, download fastboot-driver.zip and fastboot-tools.zip for the tools necessary to boot ofox.
Open the CMD and use the following command to boot ofox:
fastboot boot ofox-metadata.img
If you don't have access to fastboot, enter in 9008 mode, open qfil and load ofox image on boot_a and boot_b then force reboot (hold volume - and power button for 10s), after it reboots it will get you automatly in ofox.
DISCLAIMER FLASHING OFOX IN QFIL WILL LEAD IN YOUR ROM NOT BOOTING AS LG G7 IS AN A/B DEVICE WHICH MEANS IT DOESN'T HAVE A RECOVERY PARTITION, BOOT IMAGE IS MANDATORY FOR YOUR PHONE TO BOOT, FLASHING OFOX USING QFIL ITS ONLY FOR YOU TO BE ABLE TO FLASH A CUSTOM ROM AS IT OVERWRITES THE BOOT IMAGE WITH THE CERTAIN ROM'S ONE.
NOTE: It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup (or with any backup/restore app) as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug, restoring regular apps is fine.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
CLEAN FLASH:1. Boot in OFOX metadata;
2. Format Data (Press on the recycle bin icon —-> format data ——> type yes);
3. FROM HERE YOU CAN CHOOSE BETWEEN 2 METHODS TO FLASH:
3.1. USING ADB SIDELOAD:3.1.1. Press on "back" and flash the rom using adb sideload (Go to 3 lines in the bottom right corner, choose "ADB Sideload", Then "Swipe-->", open the cmd from adb tools folder in computer, then type "adb sideload", hit "Enter", then < drag and drop the zip over the cmd>);3.1.2. Flash ofox zip the same way through adb sideload, it will automatically reboot to ofox after flashing is done;3.1.3. Flash gapps; (Only if the rom does not contain gapps);3.1.4. Flash magisk (Optional);
3.2. OR IF YOU HAVE A MICROSD CARD, YOU CAN FOLLOW THIS:3.2.1. Move the rom and ofox, and gapps(if you will use) zip file into your microsdcard;3.2.2. Press on "/sdcard" area and choose "Micro SDCard", navigate straight into your rom zip file, then press on it, then "swipe ---->", it will start flashing it;3.2.3. After flash the rom, locate your ofox zip file and flash it as you did with the rom;3.2.4. Flash gapps; (If you want);3.2.5. Flash Magisk (Optional);
4. Change filesystem to f2fs (Go to 3 lines in bottom right corner ----> manage partitions ----> select data -----> change fs ------> f2fs);
5. Reboot.
Upgrading to a Newer Build (DIRTY FLASH)• Boot in OFOX metadata;
• Flash the rom zip;
• Flash ofox zip, it will automatically reboot the phone to ofox after the flashing is done;
• Flash gapps (ONLY IF THE ROM IS WITH GAPPS ALREADY, MAKE SURE TO FLASH THE SAME ONE);
• Flash magisk (Optional);

A black theme was added to v2.1(as per the 2.1 changelogs). The Old QS style is probably the main reason I'm going for this ROM and the customizations are fun to tweak. Hopefully dirty flashing wont have any issues
Thank you so much for this amazing ROM! I was wondering, does this have a face unlock feature?

This is the format builds should be in, not update zips. Official LOS will be using it, graphene uses it, hentai os uses it, and now us. The OTA package format also allows us to push out OTA updates, whereas with update zips we cannot.

OK, I was able to get booted into the OS this time, so thanks.
I don't know if the script actually works, I think it hung after the `fastboot devices` line, but at that point I just copied the script into the terminal manually. Also, camera does seem to be working after it updates.

`fastboot devices` is a just in case line.
This detects fastboot screen, then flashing automatically

How did you find the kernel source for this? I looked in google repos and only see prebuilts?

I found kernel source of gs201. It's on our repos, not Google repos.
It's here: https://github.com/Evolution-X-Devices/kernel_google_gs201
But this franken build so actually isn't using source, but it's expected to use this when I have normal build.
