BlissOS installed but not found as boot system - General Questions and Answers

These are the installation steps i followed to install BlissOS14 on an older Acer laptop:
Install to harddisk
Create/Modify partitions
GPT > No
1 New
2 Primary > Enter
7 Bootable > Enter
4 Write > yes > Enter
6 Quit
8 sda1
9 Ok
10 ext4 > format yes (used fat32 because ext4 didn't work)
11 GRUB > yes
12 Read/Write > yes
I've tried the same with BlissOS15 and it didn't work at all, then when i tried with BlissOS14 it also failed but i retried using fat32 over ext4 format and it worked, after waiting a few minutes, blissos started successfuly.
But, when i rebooted the laptop there now is a status message displayed saying "this is not a bootable disk". Note that this error happens even when i clearly installed blissos on the harddrive instead of using livemode.
So i went into the bios and moved drive0, then drive1, and a few other options to the top of the list to make them the boot-drive.
No matter which drive i selected as boot-drive, blissos doesn't boot as if it wasn't even installed.
I can only guess from here, either the acer laptop doesn't know how to boot bliss, or i might have done something wrong?
After all i was able to use blissos14 on this laptop without any issues but after the reboot the device acts as if there was no os.

If your having issues using paragon partition manager, and trying to make a linux swap partition, try these instructions for formating thru Cyanogens newest recovery
Formatting you SDcard
You only need to do this once folks..if you already have 3 partitions including linux-swap move to step 2
You need Recovery image 1.31 to do this folks!
To format card SD card with linux-swap WARNING!!! this will reformat you entire SD card!!
You can use the recovery console and parted to format SDcards with 1.31 folks, no more going through hassles you have the tools on you G1!...here is an example of how to do this in recovery console using parted
Example for 8GB card (specific value's may be slightly different use print to verify your total SDcard size~!
Reboot and enter recovery
Enter console
#parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
#print (to verfiy we know what size card we are dealing with, the details should be straight forward)
rm 1
rm 2
mkpartfs primary fat32 0 7584
mkpartfs primary ext2 7584 8127
mkpartfs primary linux-swap 8127 8159
#print (to verify we have the 3 partitions)
Example for my 4GB card
#parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
#print (to verfiy we know what size card we are dealing with, the details should be straight forward * then grab a calculator to figure the exact amounts... as shown below that is an example..)
rm 1
rm 2
mkpartfs primary fat32 0 3420
mkpartfs primary ext2 3420 3932
mkpartfs primary linux-swap 3932-3964
"End?" you need to place the last value for the linux swap eg.3964 for my 4GB card
#print (to verify we have the 3 partitions)
Next we need to "quit" parted and upgrade our ext2 partition to ext3
#upgrade_fs
Swap value is set to 30 currently, you can change this by modifying the "echo" value for swappiness in the a2sd.sh script
swap partition shouldnt be no larger than 92mb
ext2/3 partition shouldnt be more than 500mb ( more than that is too much )

during the paragon process it says do not interrupt it while it is formating, cause you pc can become unstable. and thats exactly what you did.. u might be able to press the esc button, i believe it gives that option at the bottom of the screen to exit it properly. but rebooting was wrong...
anytime u FORMAT any drive or card you will lose information, thats pc fundamentals... will add the issue about losing info to orig post..

Question
First i partitioned my mini sd card using my G1 with paragon manager and when everything was done the computer restarts.
But the weired thing is that now when i mount my G1. My G1 is recognized by my computer but it does not show me the storage device on my computer folder or even prompt me with opening a folder for my storoge card. I am freakin out.
Things i tried.
1. Rebooted my phone
2. nandrroid backup restore
3. restarted my computer
4. changed minisd cards.
5. uninstalling the usb android driver and reapplying it
6. went to usb debug on the settings on the phone

Fix ******Update
It took me alot of time to figure this out. if anyone gets this problem just assign your sdcard a Letter. Example: E: Drive.
When i look at these tutorials it does not mention anything like that.
thanks anyways

I used PM 10, it is very easy. However when the program wants to reboot it says there is an error, but I check that the ext2 partition is good by typing busybox df -h in terminal.
I've partitioned several cards now and they all work.
I found that doing a wipe then installing Lucid's rom.
I reinstall my applications from mybackup pro and downloading others from the market.
I test everything is working fine, then and only then I use the scripts that Lucid posted.
To recap ensure that busybox recognises the ext2 partition then wipe, install Lucids rom

thank you for the info..
was looking for the commands to verify that the ext2 partition is done correctly, and of course it verifies that busybox is working also..
I'm having a large issue with my new Micro SD card.
When using PM and my MicroSD in an SD adapter it allows me to format and create partitions successfully JUST FINE with my Sandisk 2gb which is probably a class 2 or just not a class at all...it doesn't say on the card at all.
BUT I just bought a Transcend 8gb Class 6 HC card and when using the SD adapter the computer recognizes it just fine to open and view files...BUT Paragon says its "Invalid" and won't allow me to format, partition, or anything.
I have no idea what needs to be done differently. It works just fine in the phone and moving files but Paragon won't recognize it or allow it to be modified.
I need some help please!!!
First of I'm new to all this so I'm a nood and I need some help massively I have trying to make this ext2 partition on ubumtu for months and always get an error message and a lost and found folder in the ext2 partition. Found these directions and finally make the partition w/ no error messages. Fat32 1st then ext2 2nd type busybox command so I think its done right. So I try to mkdir /system/sd/app for marcus directions on apps to sd to use his apps to sd2 app and I get error /system/sd/app read only. Why is that so? I look in pargan partitioner were I made the parition and there both still there. I would be greatfull if anyone can help out a nood like me [email protected]. I have been trying to get this ext2 partiton for months and today thought I did it correct cause no error messages and boy was I wrong!! Please anyone help !!

im have the same problems as her, i dunno why
I am running vista 64 and paragon profesional. I can get it to format and can get the ext2, but I can not do anything with the card. I try and reformat the fat32 and give it a letter for a drive but it wont take or if i format it and then create the ext2 it gives the ext the drive letter(both cannot have a drive) What gives and in the meantime I have to use the 1gig because although paragon recognizes the sd card my pc does not!
so i've done everything in the tutorial. and even the coding for checking busybox.
it doesnt show the ext2.
and i tried running the lucid commands
and it says ext2 is not mounted.
i get all the way to the ext2 part the very last thing
like mount/dismount and i get a error
saying to close a program or restart pc
cant close program because i dont know what it is so i click retry same error
i restarted pc 2 times
still same thign tried reformatting all over again what am i doing wrong? thanks guys!

[Q] internal mem. reads only 54.52MB! after installing starburst classic

1. 16GB Class 2
2. Primary FAT32 12.5GB, Primary EXT4 1.95GB
3. Gparted
4. clockwork-2.5.0.7
5. S-ON
6. I’ve done exactly like it’s described on the starburst minisite, did not receive any errors, I started doing the partition using the Gparted live by rebooting with the MicroSD connected by USB as described first deleted the partition and got unallocated space, then first made the FAT32 partition which is primary and 12.5GB then with the left space I made the EXT4 partition which is also primary and it’s 1.95GB then applied. After this I put the StarBurst_Classic_1.4.0.1 zip file into the FAT32 partition and started the phone on recovery and installed the ROM from SD, BUT I didn’t do wipe before installing, after installation was done successfully I rebooted and the phone booted and stayed on the HTC screen and I thought it hanged but it looks like I didn’t wait enough so I took out the battery and booted again to recovery then made wipe and reinstalled the StarBurst_Classic_1.4.0.1 zip from the SD. And was installed successfully then rebooted and everything was good, I skipped all the Google account and stuff then waited for few mins then I rebooted just like it was described to install the Data2SD, it was written that a green LED will flash for around a minute and indicates creation of the new Data2SD ext4 partition and initialization procedure. Then, a blue LED will flash signifying successfully starting the Data2SD program, But I didn’t see the blue LED, I checked my SD settings after that and the internal memory was 54.52MB!! And I don’t know what to do now so please help.

[Q] i9000 - internal sdcard gone - problems with boot / external sdcard mounting

Hi,
I have an i9000 and unfortunately, the internal sdcard is not recognised at all.
I can only boot using voodoo 500hz kernel, to bypass this problem.
All other kernels will fail at boot screen (reboot loop).
After booting with voodoo kernel, I've rooted the phone and connected through ssh to it (adb shell)
Listing devices in /dev/block showing nothing like mmcblk (/dev/block/mmcblk0)
I thought it must be the card itself or the controller so I went and bought an external sd card (8gb).
After I insert it, the phone shows it has 0 (zero) capacity , tried to format it to fat32, ext2, etc, both on device (parted) and computer (windows, linux). Not a chance. Tested it using a i9100 I also own and the card was recognised correctly.
Next step was to check if the controller still works so again adb shell and checked for a mmcblk device in /dev/block.
This time, a /dev/block/mmcblk0 and /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 / /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 were listed.
Removed the external card, no device at all so the internal sd card is gone for good.
Next step was to use a hack to swap the internal/external sd cards in (/etc/vold.fstab), but even it is recognized in recovery mode (I can factory format/ wipe data), still 0 size in android interface and I can't use Camera and other apps.
I tried to mount it manually, directly on phone (adb shell), with mount comand and it works! I can create files on it, which are persistent.
So the controller actually works and the card is recognised low level.
BUT, why Android interface (java layer) won't recognize it? It says it's there but size is 0.
Please help, I can't use a lot of features on the phone, I don't know what to do.
Tried to mount it manually (to /mnt/sdcard), and even it get mounted and everything works on shell (creating files, etc), still 0 size in Android.
Running df in shell shows the correct size.
Checked the fstab / vold.fstab / vold.conf , everything seems to be ok.
Can anyone help me to fix this issue? Or at least, to give me some clues / ideas? I've lost several nights and I can't find a fix.
I'm good at linux but don't know very much about Android and it's java layer over linux.
It happenned to me too... not sure it can help you, but this is how i fixed my problem:
1. connect i9000 to the pc thru usb.
2. found a filename "no media" in the root directory.
3. erase the "no media' filename and everything is back to normal.
Did you fix it? I have the same problem and can't find a solution yet

Install CyanogenMod 14 x86 on PC Hard-Drive | Android N 7.0 | Dual-Boot

1. Download CyanogenMod 14 x86 ISO file[Developed by Android x86].
2. Download Rufus win App to Create Bootable/Live USB.
3. Insert USB with Minimum 4GB. Below My Rufus Configurations::
# Device : Inserted USB.
# Partition Scheme and Target System type: MBR Partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI.
# File System: (Default).
# Cluster Size : (Default).
# New Volume Label : XXX.
# Format Options:
-> Except "Check devices for bad blocks" Make Tick mark to all.
# 1 Pass
Select ISO Image and then select downloaded CM 14 ISO file.
Finally Click start.
4. After Finishing, Create New/ Separate Partition in PC for CM 14 to be Installed with Minimum of 16GB Disk Size and Format it as FAT32.
5. After formatting, Reboot PC.
6. Boot PC from USB. (To boot Press F10 or Esc. It depends upon your PC).
7. Select Install android X86 to HDD. ( If you don't want to install, just select Run & skip the below all steps).
8. Now In blue-screen Select the Separate FAT32 formatted Partition to Install.
9. Do not Format.( I didn't formatted and it works fine else select ext4).
10. Install Boot Loader GRUB.( It will replaces default Windows Boot-loader).
12. Next it shows up that your are having Windows Partition and asked to create boot item for windows. Select Yes for that else you won't be able to boot into Windows next time.
13. Next Select Skip for EFI GRUB2.(I Skipped and worked for me, I think because I'm having Legacy PC).
14. Then Select Yes to Create Read/Write enabled system directory.
15. Now To create data.img, select yes and then Enter the Size you need for Internal Memory in MBs (1GB-1024MB).
(Note: If you formatted your Drive with FAT32 probably you can't enter more than 2048(2GB). If you want more than 2GB internal, you must format it with NTFS while in Windows Environment).
16. Now Accept Reboot and then Boot Android from GRUB Menu.
17. Thats all . You have Successfully installed CyanogenMod 14 (Android N) in your PC Hard-disk.
Also I Made Video Tutorial in YouTube for Better Understanding. You can Checkout if you don't understand or if any error pops.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQVzQhqb6N4(TechGeekShan).
Note : If you accidentally deleted the CM 14 Partition, then you can't boot into Windows as because your Boot menu is saved in that partition. It will show
"GRUB Loading.. Please Wait-Error-17" error.
But your Windows & its files are in Safe. To Overcome this problem, you need to Create Live/Bootable USB drive with Windows OS, then repair and then your Windows will be back with No Data Loss.

URGENT• Windows 8.1 rt unable to reset via USB help

I needed to do a reset using a
USB recovery image on my surface RT since i can't pass the surface logo when powered on
So I downloaded the recovery image for my surface from the surface website,
At the end of the download a message popped up saying that install.wim is corrupt. I downloaded it again and same happened.
I followed the instructions after extracting the zip file onto the usb (which i bought earlier just for this purpose and has 16gb and FAT32 formatted) And the install.wim wasn't copied into it.
When i reached to the troubleshoot option there was only 3 options; refresh. Reset. Advanced options.
When i hit refresh it says: the drive where windows is installed is locked. Unlock and try again.
When i hit reset= unable to reset, a required drive partition is missing.
Please help ASAP I need it to continue my studying
