Hey guys, finally got CM7 onto my HTC Vision/T-Mobile G2. Loving it.
However there's one small thing that's been bugging the snot out of me.
I turned off Auto Orientation since I like using my phone while I'm lying down in bed (so I'm usually turned to the side). I'm not a fan of Accelerometers on phones in general. Youtube obeyed the Auto Orientation of Froyo, but Youtube in Gingerbread doesn't. This ONLY happens while playing a video. The Youtube application itself (browsing my subscriptions, searching for videos, etc) works fine, but once I get it playing a video, the phone tries to be "helpful" and play in widescreen/sideways mode whenever I move it around.
The only way I can force it to be the orientation I want is either by pulling out the hardware keyboard (which keeps it in permanent landscape mode) or by double tapping the video (which forces it to go into portrait/landscape mode).
Any way to turn off Youtube's auto orientation change in Gingerbread? I tried using Smart Rotator to force Youtube to listen but it doesn't work.
I tried a bunch of apps from the market but I can't seem to turn it off either. I was so excited to see disabling rotation built into 2.3 with CM7 too.
I'm running CM7 on Droid Incredible.
I've been using android 4.0.4 for awhile. I had a very irritated issue. I set phone auto rotation off from the power widget, everything work fine except youtube. Now i can't lay down and watch youtube peacefully since it keeps rotating. As i remembered, that is not happened in GB. I just double tap video for full screen playing and that good to go, no need for auto rotation.
Have you guys experienced the same issue? How can i set youtube auto rotation to off?
sr for my bad english.
any idea, plz help
Hey guys,
I'm currently working on a dashboard, developed in HTML and CSS and i want to display this dashboard on a tv screen (screen hanging vertically). The problem is that the TV screen itself does not have a native portrait mode so i googled around and found the android stick which "might" solve this issue.
Is there any android stick you guys know of that can force the display (of say an app like Chrome) into portrait mode? I have a google chromecast but it doesnt seem to do the trick.
Try the app ultimate Rotation control. This fixed my problem the other way round. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate
Before i switched to the s6 I was using an iphone 5s.
I usually watch videos on chrome while laying on the bed so on my iphone i rotate the video to landscape and watch while the phone is portrait.
Using the s6 was a bit different i had to use the phone 180 degrees so that the auto rotation wont disturb the video while watching it landcape on portrait.
Any fixes for this?
Info
What is exactly ur problem?
you wanna rotate everything + video player?
Or just video player?
you can switch off auto-rotate
Or you install 3rd Party Launcher like Apex/Nova that support rotation
it means whole home pages will rotate
:good:
There is a bug in MX Player Pro for Android, v 1.9.24... at least, when it runs on my Pixel 2 with Android version 9. (I can give full kernel version and build number if needed).
1) When the movie starts, it sets the brightness (backlight) to medium low.
2) Swiping up-down the right side of the screen changes the volume.
3) Swiping up-down the left side of the screen also changes the volume.
Note that in MX Player (free version), swiping up-down the left side of the screen changes the brightness (backlight).
This has been broken for months!!!
I like the GUI.... I can't stand ads, so I paid for the Pro version... but the paid version has a bug that the free version does not!
OK, OK... I finally found where things were going wrong:
Apparently, my the box to optionally show the brightness control was UNCHECKED. I checked it, and now things are working as I'd like.
For others with this problem, you can check the required box either way:
From the video list window: (menu dots) -> Settings -> Player -> Controls -> make sure "Brightness" is checked.
From the video player window: (menu dots) -> Display -> Settings -> Controls -> make sure "Brightness" is checked.
Does anyone notice the auto rotation bug?
Does anyone notice that the auto rotation works sometimes even when it is turned off? It quickly goes to landscape mode and then switches back to portrait.
For those of you who didn't notice this one, Try playing a video in landscape on MX Player with Auto Rotation OFF.
Then press the back button. If I'm right the display will go back and forth between portrait and landscape mode for once.
I'm using this App in Android.

Indeed, it's a bug on the Android itself (https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/69168442) which is yet to be fixed by the google. Can you please specify the MX Player version you are using? We have already implemented a workaround for the same in the recent update.

In the newest Android UI 2 ETF5 for Note 9 there is a bug. When you record a movie in a portrait mode, then want to view it clicking from the camera app itself, then video orientation is never correct. It is always landscape.
