Xperia Z3 Hard bricked? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I messed up an instruction on my Xperia Z3 (D6603) and ended up flashing the wrong boot.img file. I ended up getting it to flash again by using the stock Android 6.0 rom in one of the threads, but my phone wouldn't boot to system. Eventually, one of the FTF files I flashed on the phone ended up bricking it. I've tried unplugging and replugging the battery to flush out everything. I've tried the rubberband method, I've tried holding Vol-Up for fastboot and Vol-Down for flash mode and nothing happens. My phone just flashes a red LED briefly every second. Nothing is detected even when I'm pressing everything, the LED changes from flashing red to a solid red LED if I press and hold the power button but other than that, it's just in this bricked state. I'm probably screwed with what happened, otherwise is there a way to unbrick it or at the very least bring flashmode/fastboot back to reflash stock firmware again?

Another bricked phone, new prob, stock recovery not working!!

Does anyone have this problem? I`ve searched and cant find a solution.
I had sense rom on my phone then decided to go back to jboogie rom. I booted into stock recovery(power+vol down) and when i tried to tap bottom right of screen the screen wouldn`t respond so I couldn`t do a factory reset. I then tried volume up=power button to flash sbf through RSDlite. Nothing came on my phone screen telling me to attach usb, it juat stayed blank, although rsdlite said phone was connected so i started to flash sbf anyway. Then on the phone screen it said software update in progress, once it finished flashing, instead of saying rebooting phone on RSDlite it came up with "pass" and the phone wont boot or do anything at all now.
Sorry for long message, but hope someone can help.
Thanks
Mark
try to flash a stock rom sbf with rsdlite and after that, do a wipe in recovery mod. to enter recovery press power+ vol down, after the droid apears, push vol up+vol down. You have to see then the stock recovery menu. I did in the same way and is working. I think is now so easy to really brick this phone.
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately when I try to get into stock recovery by pressing power+volume down I dont get anything on the screen at all anymore, nothing happens. Its the same when I press power+volume up to try to flash it too.
not even white led?
maybe your battery is 2low?
if u see the white led u can still go into bootloader and flash .sbf with rsd lite
Hi there,
I can't believe its dead!!
I have tried every rom available and tried out all the .sbf's too. A couple of times i thought i have bricked it but it was always done to user error (or a lack of understanding at times on my part). These Defy's seem to be almost bullet proof!
I had the "pass message" from RSDLite and all i had to do was flash the "2.2 bootonly" sbf to get past it. I have had corrupted boot loader messages and more but it just keeps coming back for more once things the right things are done in the right sequence.
Assuming your battery is ok, I would try installing one of the latest froyo .sbf's with RSDLite 3.9 only completion do a wipe from the stock recovery (hold pwr + vol down). Press vol up and vol down to activate the menu, select wipe with volume up or down, press power to go. The after rooting apply one of the excellent roms from Jboogie & Pays.
Good luck... sure it will be fine.

If you have only black screen, you have to flash the latest undowngradable rom you flashed, then you you finally get to moto logo, you will be able to go to recovery and wipe. After it it will boot just fine.
I had the exact same problems, i tried to reflash. It ended up not showing anything on the screen in any of the button combinations. It did however show in RSD Lite and after i tried to flash the chinese rom it said "pass" after that i only got a white led and it no longer was detectable through usb. I tried to recharge the battery so i left it on white light with charger plugged over the night... No success. It's now in service and hope they fix it.
I would like to point out to anyone trying to help me that bootloader no longer shows up, neither recovery menu.

I had a similar thing when i flattened my battery half way through flashing an .sbf. I borrowed a friends battery, flashed the boot only and all was fine. There is a couple of pointers on the forum on how to charge your battery if you dont have a working rom (it wont charge without one! You have to get the motorola logo followed by the battery animation to charge your battery).
In your case im pretty certain you could have saved yourself the hassle of sending it off for service.
Andy
Thanks for all the replys, I have already had the dead battery a couple of weeks ago and "revived" it by putting the + and _ wires of usb cable into the battery of the defy, but this seems different, I cant get anything to work on it, no roms will flash and all I get is black screen. I do get the white led but only sometimes. It is very change indeed, I will try some of the solutions you guys said tomorrow and let yous know how I got on.
Thanks again
Mark
I did not want to risk charging out of wires, i have unlimited warranty on it after all so i gave it to service hoping a fix will be made by guys who know what they where doing (i hope).
In any case i see -qpzmaluk- tried off of wires and nothing happened.
I tried to flash again this morning using all the techniques above but I cant get rsdlite to recognise my phone either now. All i get is when connected to usb is the white led, nothing else happens when i try to go into recovery etc.
Mark
Huge thanks to EDITION I got my phone working again.
I did what he said about flashing last undowngradeable rom and surprisingly it came back to life. Brilliant mate, i cant thank you enough.
Mark
how did u do that? if u said your rsd lite cant recognize your phone?
I kept trying to connect to pc with usb and rsdlite eventually found it so I took the chance of flashing froyo 3.4.3-the one I last had on the phone, and surprisingly this time it went throughht to the end of booting the phone and now I have everything working again including stock recovery etc.
One thing to mention was that I couldn`t get into pwer+vol up or down before I flashed this time I flashed my phone. I just connected it to pc and luckily rsdlite recognised it this time and I just pressed flash button, then eventually phone booted up. So something was wrong and it didn`t flash it the normal way by going into stock recovery on phone but it worked

Xperia Z3 dead, wont charge blinking red light

Follow these steps

My phone did the same thing....I flashed something I wasn't supposed to and ended up soft brickng...
Ran through these steps and I'm all good now....you sure u can't go into flashboot.? To enter flashboot...
Hold the down key on the volume rocker
Attach USB that's already connected to the computer
Notification should turn dark blue
It indicates it is in flashboot...screen will not be on
Sent from my D6616 using XDA Free mobile app
Now I have exactly the same problem. Where you able to resolve it? There's also someone else with this problem:

I've had this problem when the file system becomes corrupted and can't get into recovery or anything. The method mentioned two posts above works. Hold the volume rocker pressed before plugging in the USB cord to the device. That causes it to boot into flashmode. With flashtool you can have it prep all the files for install even if the phone restarts during that process. When it comes back up it will start the install. That's what has worked for me. Good luck.

Problems with my d6633 Z3 Dual

Hallo people,
I have a very big problem with my d6633. I installed tonight TWRP - so fas, so good. After installing TWRP asked me to root the device, I said YES. My bootloader was unlocked. Then I couldn't exit TWRP. After every reboot the device started into TWRP. Now I can not start the device. I tried with Power+ Volume+, reset button - nothing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help.

How much % did it have before you started the procedure?
Did you try holding down vol+ and then plugging it into USB?
Hello Jkay7,
Thanks for your support. My solution was to leave the device switched off over the night. Connected via original cable. Today in the morning my dyouzhengwen evice was detected via flash tool and as youzhengwen suggested I could flash the original ftf file.

Sony Xperia Z3 Dual D6633
I have tried just about every method seen. My problem with the flashtool or PC companion is that the phone is recognized by the computer but I can only start to turn the device on which I don't believe it actually boots. Broken display and new display does not power on.
Or it connects in fastboot by holding volume up when connecting. This shows a blue led.
But trying to connect in flash mode by holding power down just makes the led flash red then green continuously.
And for the pc companion it always says the connection was unsuccessful once the led turns green on the device.
I got the phone for only $40 in this condition. So I cannot say what entirely was wrong or what it's last working state was.
I bought a new screen and power flex cable. As well as a back plate and tempered glass protectors. I was going to wait until everything works perfect speakers and all before I sealed it tight with water proof adhesive stickers.
Even before I bought the new power flex the computer recognized it and the battery health and charge %. The battery was able to charge. But I couldn't turn the device on.
The computer confirmed that it had been at 29% after some time charging and then 100% after leaving it on charge.
Now with the new screen and power cable the phone still does nothing if not plugged it. The light was red at first, but then yellow, then after some time green when the battery fully charged. This was again even before the new parts.
I have to plug it in to try anything.
It goes red then starts to turn on and turns green.
But I hear no sound, get no vibrations, the computer only sees it as the phone and shows absolutely nothing on the removable disk. Just blank when I click on the drive volume. But it is seen as an Xperia D6633 phone or fastboot Android device.
I've tried the reset button, holding power and volume up, volume down, all three. Tried my factory cable. Different cables, different ports, uninstalling it from service manager and letting the flash tool recognize and install it.
I also tried the new display on the old power flex and the old display on the new power flex.
Nothing changed, no vibrations, no sounds, system never actually fully starts as far as I can tell, and cannot connect in flash mode only fast boot. And the flashable file is only seen in flash mode. Fastboot can only see the folder but it is ready to flash files as far as I can tell.
@xdathekilljoy
That's a lot of money you're putting into an (apparently) broken phone Brave!
Okay so what happens if you hold Vol+ while it's shut down and then connect it to USB, the LED turns blue, right?
So why does flashing it from there on not work?

Well it didn't seem that broken at first and both it and the display were only about 37 piece. Power flex was almost 10. Seemed like a rightful price.
Yes the led turns blue and it is in fastboot mode. The flash file seems to only be readable for flashing in flash mode "volume down". I can see the folder of the flash file in fastboot mode " volume up ", but not in a flashable format.
And when connecting " volume down " it fails a connection while the led just flashes green to red to green to red continually
Two updates
1. I thought I should mention that when I do plug the phone in to a charger or computer the top does get a bit warm or hot as well as the led turns on. Different color depending.
2. With much fiddling and trying if holding the volume down button for different lengths of time while connecting up a computer I finally got it to connect in flash mode and flashed a file...... No change.
At this point maybe I should try a new battery for the hell of it even though this one seems to be working.
Or there is a minute hardware damage somewhere. Maybe the power ic? Or s capacitor?

[help] Z3 Completely dead (no vibration / no led / no charging / no flash mode)

Hello everybody!
I recently wanted to use a custom rom..
So I Flashed the stock firmware the .291 build. after that I wanted to flash twrp recovery.
So I downgraded the kernel to ,575 then flashed the recovery file, and from the recovery I flashed the Existenz rom (.291 based).
Then I rebooted the device,, Unfortunately I got a boot loop on SONY logo.
So I reflashed the stock firmware (.291) throw flashtool. but flash didn't complete,,, and I got boot loop again.
after that I DON'T KNOW why I flashed the .575 kernel.. Flash completed,, phone turned off
then it's COMPLETELY DEAD.. no signs of life
I tried every power- volume combinations, but I got no vibrations nor leds. and the charging sign doesn't appear when connecting the device to a power supply.
I only hear the connection sound when I connect the device to the computer and press volume down + power button for 10 secs, but it shows nothing on computer!
Any help would be appreciated
Your best bet if it shows no sign of life is to charge for a few hours to make sure it has enough battery.
Hopefully the red light comes on at some point. Either way try leaving it plugged in for a few hours.
Then you can try flashing again.
Ensure all the drivers are properly installed for flashtool.
Ensure you have the correct ftf for your device!
Start flash mode for a full .291 ftf and plug the phone in while holding down the volume down button as normal.
Try this repeatedly until you get a connection.
Alternatively you can wrap a very tight rubber band around the volume down key and connect it while flashtool is in flashmode.
If you're lucky a connection will be made and flashtool will have time to flash the firmware.
Persistence is key here. Many times a brick can be saved but it can take a long time.
Good luck and I hope it works
keep it on charge overnight.flash again when led turns on

No power after flash

I flashed the factory binary to my S8+, and instead of the phone rebooting after the flash, it won't boot. I think I may have had G955W firmware on it, and flashed a G955U factory binary. The phone doesn't do anything when I hold the power button, the LED doesn't light up, no vibration, and won't boot into download, or recovery mode. If I try to do soft reset, or enter download mode, the phone will briefly flash a white line or two, but that's it.
Anything I can try to do to fix it, or is it useless now?
flashing the binaries shouldn't really hurt anything unless something happened while flashing parts of the bootloader. Maybe take the back off and disconnect the battery for a few minutes
I'm not sure what happened really. The flash went through fine in odin. After the flash passed, instead of the phone rebooting like normal, it just shut off and wouldn't turn back on. Doesn't holding power and vol down do the same as removing and reinserting the battery?
I went ahead and unplugged the battery for about 5 minutes, but no change. I also put the phone on my wireless charger instead of the cable. Still won't turn on.
