Question Not getting OTA updates on my S22 ultra (SM-S908U) - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Hello,
Recently I bought an S22 ultra from unofficial source. I haven't got any updates from then. I think it's carrier locked. And it is not possible for me to use that carrier in my country. The phone's model number is SM-S908U/DS . In the software information page the whole model number is shown as SM-S908UZKATT. I want to update my device. How should I do it? I heard odin can be used to manually update my phone. But I don't know how to do it. Also I don't know where will I get official firmwares. Please help me ASAP.
Thanks in Advance. Cheers.

You might want to consider sideloading the latest firmware update.
But before that, you must
1. Find your Model name & CSC Code using Phone INFO ★SAM★ 3.8.5 or just go to about phone
2. Download your firmware using Frija
3. Flash the latest firmware using SamFw Tool

Hello edwaine, thank you so much for the help. I downloaded all the things you've mentioned.
I went to the Software information page in the About Phone settings and found out this...

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

After this I thought my CSC will either be GCF or XAA, then I head over to frija and typed my model number SM-S908U and the CSC code which is GCF and then clicked on check update. It showed
then I thought the CSC might be XAA. So I typed XAA and clicked Check Update. It showed
am I doing it the right way? or do I need to search using my whole model number? (which is SM-S908UZKATT.)

Add "1" on the end of your model name. Your CSC is "XAA"

Okay on it now. And are you sure adding 1 at the end of my actual model number will be okay? Because I just went to my about phone settings and found out this
Sorry I am a super noob!

There are 2 Models for the US: The "U" which is carrier locked & the "U1" which is Carrier Unlocked. Your device as per the CSC belongs to the U1 model.

I mean you already tried it with SM-S908U and not SM-S908U1 and did not get any result.

Need alternative to sammobile

I am in desperate need to get the firmware for my g930f - BGL csc specifically. Since Sammobile free is down for maintenance, I am stuck. Are there any mirrors or archives I can use? I tried updato.com but it got me the wrong file with wrong CSC.
What are my options at the moment?

Actually that's exactly what I used and it downloaded the Polish CSC not BGL which is what I needed. At least that's what autodiscovery did. With manual, it does not find the right firmware at all even though I am copying and pasting the details from their website.

Try this (Click "Slow Speed" for free download)
Code:
https://samsung-firmware.org/model/SM-G930F/region/BGL/
Using a download manager with multiple concurrent connections might help with the speed

Thanks, trying it out now. I guess the site has a pretty strong protection as none of the managers that I tried could do multi segment. Estimated completion is 12 hours, but oh well... its the best I can do at the moment.
If you post in the updato thread and let the owner know the wrong firmware is being downloaded he'll no doubt sort that for you too
Thank you Detection for all your help! I actually got tired of it and installed the PHN firmware via SamFirm. It has the latest Oct 1 patch and seems to be updated regularly... still unbranded. I should be OK with it, right?

Yea you'll be fine, just means you'll get OTA updates for that CSC now rather than whatever you were on before, only real differences I've heard about switching CSCs is features such as VoLTE and WiFi calling etc

Google Fi Version - Software dependent?

Hi, wondering if the Google fi version of the note 20 ultra, is identical hardware, in that I could flash google fi compatibility rom on any device to support carrier switching?
Thanks

Google is selling the U1 version of the T-Mobile Note 20 line. Basically an unlocked phone.
Google Fi operates on T-Mobile/Sprint/US Cellular networks, and uses a TMB CSC code.
There is nothing unique about the phone hardware.
This device would have specific google fi software for access to fi carrier switching? (and if so, could be ported to any generic unlocked note device?)
The reason I'm asking is to be able to source a cheaper device outside of the Google store, or used.

Google Fi works with a lot of older Android phones.

Carrier switching does not work on byod.

I guess it doesn't matter it would require a whitelisted imei (Google store samsung device). Thanks

Is the firmware I need TMB? I have a SM-N986U through Fi and it's showing XAA/XAA/XAA (which I can't find anywhere). I can find the TMB firmware but I'm not able to convince myself it's the right one...

You sure you have a U device?
XAA/XAA/XAA is typically used for unlocked U1 devices.
You can get the firmware for U and U1 devices here. If you do have a U device, grab the TMB CTLB version from this thread.

You'll be fine.
Considering all T-Mobile features work on U1 devices, I'd assume you're on the right firmware for Fi.
As for the carrier codes, U1 would be XAA/XAA/XAA. When you insert a carrier activated sim card, the phone should automatically ask to be set to correct carrier configuration. In this case, you could end up with something different after installing the SIM, such as a T-Mobile CSC but I'd keep it as is and let the phone configure itself.

Hi, I bought note 10 month ago and it had the same kinda issue, mine was AT&T but unlocked at the same time idk how, anyway It had no updates what so ever After some search I downloaded the N970U1 Firmware and my phone was N970U(ATT)weirdly it worked and everything is ok, I don't know if this was wrong but everything on the device is working perfectly.
note: I am not from USA so any sim will work.
NOTE: "I AM NOT RESPONSBLE IF ANYTHING HAPPEND IF IT WORKED WITH ME I AM NOT GURENTEE IT WILL WORK WITH YOU"
I Used Patched Odin for this to work Link To Download Patched Odin on XDA, if you want to apply this method here's a link from Sammobile to download the Firmware: Sammobile SM-N970U1 Firmware

And Here's a Screenshot from Samsung Members app still recognize my device as SM-N970U but still works with the U1 version
Supposedly the U and U1 firmware can write to either device, but I have a Flip 3 and (F711U) and it only allows U firmware.

Question Change carrier SM-S908U Or Change Firmware

Hello
This is the first time I write here, I bought a phone from someone on the internet a week ago as it is unlocked but it is locked on Verizon network and I am in another country in the Middle East and I spoke with Verizon and Samsung Care in the US they all told me that it is not stolen but requires data to unlock The first buyer, and I don't know her, is there a solution to change the firmware to another country and open it? How do I bypass it as soon as possible? I tried to install a ROM for Europe, which is SM-S908E, but the installation did not work, it says fail sha256 is invalid, and another version was installed through Odin
SM-S908U but nothing changed, is there a solution?

Flash the U1 firmware, hoping the phone was purchased from Verizon more than 60 days ago. You can't install other regions firmware in USA model, only U1 can be installed.

Hello there! Yes and no, you cannot change the model number, but you can change the CSC code to for example one where updates are received faster. I have 2 methods you can try (I have an SM-T290 which is rooted):
Method #1: Root Essentials app1. Power on your phone if it isn't yet.
2. Open Google Play Store and download this app.
3. Install the app.
4. Open the app.
5. Give all permissions that are needed.
6. At the default 'Tools' section, scroll down until you find something like 'CSC code changer'.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions to change your CSC code.
Method #2: Phone by Google app (WILL ERASE DATA, atleast they say)THIS METHOD MIGHT NOT WORK.
1. YOUR DATA WILL BE ERASED. So, back up your data.
2. Install Phone by Google (from the Play Store).
3. Open Phone by Google.
4. Dial this code:
*#*#27262826#*#*
5. Choose the CSC of your liking and tap on INSTALL.
6. Wait for your phone to reboot.
7. Enjoy your new CSC and the features that come with it!

That is the firmware for different countries. Every firmware has a specific country code, called CSC. I have for example a firmware from Thailand on my A12, and it's CSC code is THL (from Thailand). This can be changed, and I think it allows you to flash different firmware images (although I am not sure).
I thought of doing it by using odin....i have downloaded indian firmware will try flashing it with odin

There are atleast 2 benefits I know:
1. You can get software updates earlier.
2. You can get some exclusive features, such as the option to record a call (As I can).
