Since there's no dedicated forum for this phone (yet) & since I have a Motorola One Vision, I thought I'd post my question here to see if anyone here has upgraded their phone to this - or maybe suggest phones of similar type that I may've not considered/ found out about
Anyway, In the UK the mobile providers are starting to discontinue 3G from their networks & I've been thinking its about time to update.
Looking at (SIM-Free) phones in my price range (up to £300) I looked at internet 'recommended' listings & comparing those with my exiting phone to see what may be missing from those phones that I currently have on my phone (a few of the 'important' things are 'SD slot','3.5m Headphone socket' & NFC etc), since I don't like to 'downgrade' on features - then looking at reviews of those that fit the bill & try to see if there's any downsides to that phone in question
Since Motorola doesn't bloat their phones (much) the G73 seems to be a nice replacement (similar features, larger screen - although still a LCD - & 5G support)
- other manufacturers seem to add bloat/Ads, have cut-down firmware/UI [Samsung OneUI vs OneUI core for example] or other things that I don't like the sounds of
HOWEVER, some sites I've looked at the full specs of the Moto G73 & there seems to be some confusion with some of the specs such as the memory & internal sensors
- some sites state it's 'country specific' on what you get
So my questions are:-
- does the (UK) version of the Moto G73 contain a Gyro or not
- does the same UK model come with 128GB storage/8Gb Ram OR 256Gb Storage/8GB Ram
- can the phone use VoLTE (or '4g calling') which I think its also know as or is it like my ONE Vision that says it's 4G but doesn't allow 'VoLTE' ??
Many thanks in advance for any help & suggestions

I am looking to possibly acquire an Android handset to replace my Motorola featurephone and I want something I can play with and hack.
Specs I need:
1.UMTS 2100 and UMTS 900 as thats what my carrier uses.
2.Physical QWERTY keyboard
3.Good hardware specs
4.Readily available on the open market with no carrier lock and all features working including sideload, android market and tethering (I am in Australia if that makes a difference)
5.Running FroYo
6.Easily hackable, rootable and moddable.
I was considering the HTC DeeZire Z but with all the noise about how the G2/DeeZire Z has locks preventing you from changing the system files, it doesnt sound like the right phone (I want one that doesnt fight you every step of the way).
You might wanna shop around. I guess the best way is to find your preferred device/or device you think fits you well and check its development under Android Rom development, check issues being reported, see if you can live with em and make a decision surely noone will tell you mate buy this but you can easily find out all you need by asking device specific questions on the appropriate device thread. Hope that helps.
Motorola droid 2?
I previously had no Android experience and recently bought Xperia X10 Mini Pro as suggested by friends in a haste as an upgrade from my Nokia E63. After purchasing it, I found it out to be more of a downgrade. The phone itself is outdated but that is a different issue.
Web browsing is better, I got GPS and music is a major overhaul. But the inability to do proper multitask and lack of GSM-GPRS Dual Mode means this is not gonna replace my E63. Sadly, as deep as I have searched, Dual mode is not as easily available among Androids and proper multitasking requires huge RAM compared to Nokia. So I need suggestion on a cheap android that can truly replace, suppose a Nokia E71. Does such an Android phone really exist?
ZTE blade maybe the best one for the guy had no Android experience, or a better one, MOTO defy.
I don't think so

ZTE models are sadly not available Here in Kolkata. That model would not have suited me either. But DEFY is a seriously good mobile. Got good RAM, Armv7, PowerVR GPU, long battery life. Price is within my capability. It is also water/scratch/dust resistant. Are u sure that it supports dual mode? The website does not mention.
I didn't understand the issue with camera clearly, If I get the GREEN version does that mean camera will never work for me using CM9? [I am damn sure India gets green. Guess I'll have to sacrifice ICS then]
From this post it seems that Moto Defy supports Dual Transfer Mode. The only concern that remains now is about ICS update and the camera. Can anyone clarify that?
When it comes to pricing, no one can beat Nokia
There are lots of cheap Android phone available in the market, but you have to compensate in the screen resolution, speed etc. I wud recommend you Galaxy S (i9000) if you can afford...cheaper than dat is Galaxy ACE & Galaxy GIO.
Check if HUAWEI is available in your location, they are the cheapest highly loaded Android devices here in Oman.
zte monte carlo nice
Problem is, none of the mobiles you mention has Dual Transfer Mode in official specs, while even the latest Nokia, the Lumina 800 mentions Dual Transfer Mode (MSC 32) clearly in its specs. It is sad how Symbian died due to lack of interest from the part of application developers, but it had the best multitasking among all mobile OSes. In Android, whenever I minimise Opera Mini to do something else, I am always afraid that perhaps opening the next file will unload the browser in background; while in S60, u can have 20 apps running and 20 tabs open in browser in a handset with only 128 MB RAM, if pushed to its limit, the device will reboot but never ninja kill apps in background.
I can provide many links where people complain about lack of DTM in their Androids. Sony Vivaz is a S60 and it supports DTM.
Some said that editing build.prop allows DTM in some HTC phones. I have tried that in X10 Mini Pro and it did not work. Seems the radio antenna itself is cheap.
I recently ran a test in my X10 Mini Pro by starting a file download in it and sending a barrage of SMSes from another phone simultaneously. The download failed, none of those SMSes arrived ever.
So please mention how u know that those devices suggested have DTM. It is necessary.
I think I need to update my question. From this post, it seems that SE does not provide DTM as 3G already supports multiple connections. SE may think that there is no necessity of this technology in this age of 4G but in India 3G is both costly and rare.
I need GSM DTM, not the simultaneous voice and data capability of 3G.
Edit: I have subscribed for 3G. I was shocked to find that good quality 3G is cheaper than US here. It will be activated within 24 hours. Lets see if dual mode works now; else I'll have to get another handset with better radio.
Update: Ok HSDPA allows simultaneous voice and data in this handset. But 3G drops during calls perhaps due to poor signal so I need stock ROM to force WCDMA only.
I'd like to buy a new phone and/or tablet, I don't mind if no-name Chinese, but it has to be
powerful with up-to-date hardware
low-budget (I mean a real bargain)
suitable for running CyanogenMod
No idea about a tablet yet, it should be around 10" (min. 1280x720px) with built-in 3G, thought about a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5100, but compared to some Chinese devices I found on Alibaba it's quite expensive, with the freshly announced Tab 3 even at a higher price.
Concerning the phone I found the amazing Lenovo A820 at an unreal low price with top specs, but it's Dual SIM and not supported by CM (in fact CM currently has no Dual SIM support at all).
The major issue with no-name Chinese devices is the uncertain CM support (don't mind if officially or unofficially supported), but not being able to install CM would be a showstopper for me, as I have no intentions at all to run any Android device with GAPPS installed!
And advice?

Most Chinese devices (HTC and huawei and Oppo excluded) will not get CM support. If they do, it will be very limited. As in, they'll stop after maybe a couple months of nightlies.
Lenovo makes android tablets? Hmmm.
And stuff that is made specifically for China is usually much cheaper, but much harder to get your hands on.
My 0.02.
After some more research and searching through the list of supported devices at CM I came to the conclusion, that unfortunately none of such interesting Chinese / no-name hardware is suitable for me. I just have to have CM without GAPPS on my device, there is no way around it.
It seems there are quite some devices coming now with reasonable (and similar) specs at very low prices, like the freshly announced Huawei Ascend G525, which are all Dual SIM. If it wasn't about the missing CM support, I'd go for something like the Lenovo A820 or similar.
I still don't know what to do. The tablet is not a must-have, but a new phone would be nice right now. The list on CM does not show which devices are new, it should be a recent 2013 model.
So any hint, which of the un-/officially CM supported recent devices would be worth looking at?

Hi Guys,
I purchased 3 tablets over the last year and they were all supposedly "NATPC X210" tablets from the link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AKYZ6R
The first was sold by: BE Tablets and the "About tablet" looks like: http://i.imgur.com/4zBFegd.png We'll call this Tablet 1 for £88.04 on the 10 February 2014
The second was sold by: Tablet Traders and the "About tablet" looks like: http://i.imgur.com/qmu9wPj.png We'll call this Tablet 2 for £89.99 on the 14 February 2014
The third was sold by: GadetsFair and the "About tablet" looks like: http://i.imgur.com/0UHC4pH.jpg We'll call this Tablet 3 for £62.95 on the 18 June 2014
Tablet 1 and Tablet 2 look identical in terms of physical appearance, tablet 3 looks nearly identical with the exception of it only has 1 MicroUSB port where as the other two tablets have 2 MicroUSB ports.
I've been looking around I've managed to work out that Tablet 3 appears to be a Crypto Novapad S104. Firstly, I could do with some help properly identifying the tablets because they definitely aren't all NATPC X210 tablets.
TABLET 1 and 2 Downsides:
- Both tablets came WITHOUT root (I want root!)
- Both tablets came with different firmwares so there is no consistency between them.
- Both tablets have issues finding certain apps on the Play Store...
- Both tablets have different pre-installed apps
- Both tablets have different appearances (See: http://i.imgur.com/eckPZpJ.jpg)
- Both tablets have different soft-key layouts. (See: http://i.imgur.com/eckPZpJ.jpg)
- Both tablets have an update checker but the update checker fails to work.
- Both tablets show the mobile signal signal strength as no signal (the tablet doesn't have any phone support so it should be disabled. (See: http://i.imgur.com/eckPZpJ.jpg)
- Both tablets have an ugly looking options drop down (top right) (wrong dpi or something) (See: http://i.imgur.com/eckPZpJ.jpg)
TABLET 1 and 2 Ups:
- Has two MicroUSB ports
Tablet 3 Downsides:
- Has one MicroUSB port.
- Has no update checker.
Tablet 3 Ups:
- Comes with root (However, I contacted CryptoTablets and they said that they don't come with root, he might have got it wrong I don't know.)
- Can access all of the apps on the Android store (as far as I can find)
- Has Ethernet support in Settings. (See: http://imgur.com/Bqz4Mdh)
- Has a much more refined UI with the dpi's set correctly.(top right looks much better) (See: http://imgur.com/Bqz4Mdh)
- Has a better softkey layout (See: http://imgur.com/Bqz4Mdh)
- Has a no mobile network signal, disabled because it doesn't support phone networks. (See: http://imgur.com/Bqz4Mdh)
I e-mailed CryptoTablets to try and get the firmware zipfile from them so that I could flash the same ROM that's on Tablet 3 onto Tablet 1 and Tablet 2 but they said "Our tablets are not rooted and any updates are performed in our service center, You need to send the device to us." which is obviously not acceptable for me :/
Secondly I want them all to have the same ROM on them WITH root... does anyone know if there are any custom ROMS out there that could be used?
I could really do with some help with them :/
Hi,
I suggest you ask here for help,
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
And unless they are indeed the same models... If there are roms, you won't be able to use the same rom. You need to only flash roms made for each specific device, or you could be in real trouble.
Good luck!

Aestheticallly they look pretty identical and they supposedly have the same processor, ram...etc. How can I 100% correctly check the processor and stuff?

You need to ask in the link I gave. We only point the way here. ?
I'm tossing and turning, and quite frankly I'm getting tired of deciding between which device I want to choose for my next all-in-one device.
Currently, I have an LG-G4, and a Nexus 6. I want to consolidate; that means dual-sim is the only option at this time.
I keep coming back to the Asus Zenphone 2 Lazer, or the Huawei Mate 8. I love how the Mate 8 looks, but also like the options of the Lazer.
In terms of ALL AROUND device rank, which would you choose? Why? I'm currently in South Korea, so I also need a device that is capable of using South Korean bands (KT Olleh specifically), but also allows me to use the device when I return to the states with minimal issue. I don't take A LOT of pictures with my handhelds, but that doesn't mean I need a potato for a camera. I don't use all of the space on my devices now, and none of them have over 16GB of storage. I also play with roms seldomly, as I prefer the natural MM firmware as of late.
Primary reason for consolidation is simply that. I hate carrying two devices. My Nexus 6 is my personal device, and pretty much the device I use to stream media (internet radio and Plex). My LG-G4 is the work phone that sees data, but primarily is used to communicate via text or phone with customers.
I'd like my device to use one sim for Data (LTE+ Cat 6), and the other pretty much just for voice/text services.
Thanks in advance!
