Question My P7P just chokes on USB-C wired ear pods. - Google Pixel 7 Pro

The phone (running the latest 13-beta and rooted) just can't tolerate USB-C wired ear pods. Audio drops out after a few seconds--even tho the app shows it's still 'playing'. Sometimes I have to stop the app, un-plug and re-plug the pods to get it to play in the first place. The notification area will show that wired headset is attached, but audio just won't stay on.
This morning the phone locked-up while trying to get them to work and I had to hard-reboot.
This happens with a brand-new pair that had a native USB-C connector, and an older pair I'm using with a USBC-to-miniplug adapter.
My bluetooth OnePlus pods work reliably every single time. Tried with two different audio apps, still no love.
Any thoughts?

[Q] Issue with bluetooth earpiece Latest Vegan Tab flash

Getting a "Paired but not connected" issue with my bluetooth ear-piece and I've tried everything to get it to connect, even force closing wiping all the data from the bluetooth application and rebooting several times. I've only had this problem since switching from cyanogen mod to vegan tab (Love vegan tab btw) does anyone know some fixes or solutions?
Thanks in advance :3
come on :\ doesnt even one person have a suggestion?
I was able to pair my phone with the Vegan Beta 5.1 gTablet without issue...
I just bought a new headset and will try it and let you know...
Working fine for me as well but when I disconnect I have to re-boot to get audio over speakers on the GTAB
hmmm, thats really odd, maybe my headset itsself is being stupid. Thanks for the feedback guys.

I've found if you plug and unplug a regular wired headset into the headset jack, thst usually fixes the audio be muted on internal speakers.
bluetooth help
I am having the same problem. Tried 2 different headsets, netbook, and my moto droid - but everything says "paired but not connected". nothing works! please help
may be a direction for a fix; DEVs could you clarify for us
I found this in a post today by enigma0456:
More research finally revealed something. BlueGPS4droid at sourceforge not the market. So, the external gps was "paired but not connected" until there was an application (bluegps) to "connect" to. Once that was installed I turned on the bluetooth and it immediately saw the hollux remote gps receiver. Tested it with Maps and it worked beautifully. So theories:
1. If there isn't an app waiting to use the bluetooth device it will pair but not connect until something asks for it.
now I realize this has to deal with gps but as i understand all phone apks have been removed that can be and not lose functionality in order to save battery life in Vegan 5.1 so if the above quote is right then there is no app (phone.apk etc.) to ask for the use of the ear piece and thus the paired but not connected issue.
now some people have mentioned not having issue getting their BT headset to work and maybe this is because the headset offers another use in their programing like they are designed to work like headphones or something and then there would be and app to ask for them and so they connect
the ones that do not work on the other hand like mine are only designed for phone audio; ever notice that on your Droid cell that your headset will say connected to phone audio, well in our case if the phone.apk/s are not there then there is nothing asking to connect to it.
DEVs are there any ideas to get functionality back even it that means adding back the phone.apks--and is that possible to do with our re-flashing a rom like side installing it or an update.zip
Thanks

There is an app on the market, called "headset toggle widget" and that will do the trick and unmute your speakers
Possible workaround...
Don't know if this will help but, after I paired my BT headset with GTAB, I then paired it with another device (my phone) after which GTAB started giving me the paired but not connected message when I tried to connect back to the GTAB. What worked? Well, now before I select the headset device in GTAB's bluetooth device menu, I put the headset itself back into pairing mode. THEN, I select it in GTAB's bluetooth device menu and voilà, it connects. Downside, I have to put the headset into pairing mode everytime I want to connect it to GTAB. (Haven't bothered trying to unpair the headset with my phone yet to see if it makes a difference.) Hope it works at least as temp fix for ya.

JVC Radio Can not connect

I have a JVC radio that works with an iPhone. Is there any SW that would allow it to work with a android?
This is the second thread you have started on the same subject. What are you expecting to do with it? As mentioned before if your phone is in disk drive mode you should be able to play mp3 files from the card. Have you tried that? Works fine on my kenwood like that.
thanks
I was actually hopping to be able to pump out audio like phone calls etc.. The iPhone can can do it. I thought the other post was removed becaues I put it in the wrong section.
My kenwood does both. But it is actually done by bluetooth. There are 2 channels, phone and AD2P that my headunit has settings for. I myself have never heard of using USB for this phone. I don't think the micro usb port is capable of handling that. If you expect your headunit to handle calls it will either have to be done by bluetooth or by auxillary headphone cable. What way are you trying to make the connection? What make and model of headunit do you have in your car?
You are correct. I was to cheap to pay the extra $ for the BT. I put a spliter on the AUX port and all works. Just had to hide a few cables. The reason I can not use BT is, I use SKYPE for long conf calls. IT works great but it does not pump out audio out of BT.
I connect one side to my XM portable and the other to the audio port on the phone. Seems to be working ok. I get a little feedback from Phone when it is plugged in to a power source. I am working on a fix for that.

[Q] USB Speakers - Is it Possible

Hi guys I was wondering if it was possible to get the transformer to output music through the USB ports. I have a set of portable Creative speakers which have great sound and would love to use them with the transformer. They are powered and receive audio from USB
It is very possible, but you'd ave to add the device modules (drivers for the device) to the kernel yourself because it isn't native. I've been trying to get USB headphones working for a while.. :/

Got work usb audio on tf101 with CM10. Just kernel modules for usb audio are not enough to get sound from apps to be routed through the DAC. It's also needed to patch vertana audio driver.
I know it's been a long time but I just got around to rooting my TF101 and actually enjoying it. Has anyone done anything similar with speakers or headphones

Lollipop - Any Improvements?
Has anyone been able to get USB Audio working in a Lollipop ROM given the improvements to USB host?
So far, no luck for me:
KatKiss Lollipop 5.1 #21 ROM
JBL Pebbles USB Speakers connected to the dock
My tablet recognizes there is a USB audio device as the audio stops after connecting.
Also, disabling auto routing of audio to USB audio devices does what it supposed to do - so detection works.
Connecting the headphones out to the aux in of the USB speaker didn't work. Tablet speakers shut off but no sound in the USB speakers.
I could get it to work is powering the speakers from an AC charger and using the tablet headphone out to it.
Also, USB Audio Tester app works in that it can detect the USB device and it was able to play audio out of it (tested via connecting int mic to ext speaker mode and raising the volume bars).
To my understanding from the developer's description, that app uses non-standard interface to output USB audio.
The speakers work fine on Windows and Chrome OS without drivers so I was hoping it was plug and play.
Update:
I did note that I had to raise the in-app playback control volume bars first though to work in USB Audio Tester app.
Also, when connected to a computer and using the Aux In of the speakers, my phones and tablet can play audio.
Based on power draw of a USB charger I connected, the speakers use 0.6W idle and about 1W max.
Therefore, I'm thinking maybe it fails the USB enumeration in Android and the default 100mA is not enough.
Anyone know how to check the USB host enumeration settings?

Since we are talking about USB HOST, maybe it's important to use USB OTG cable, I reckon, as not all USB cables are equal. This has just recently struck me, because I used USB cable that came with my soundcard the other day. Its of great quality, sure, but I'm almost positive it's not OTG. My audiocard is externally powered, so on the other hand it might be just unimportant in my case...
USB Speakers of all sorts have generic DACs in them that require no special drivers and have to work out of the box on any system as long as USB connection and standard USB functionality are intact. Success stories of USB Audio working under Lollipop are rather abundant.
If USB Audio Tester works for you then USB Audio Player PRO should too, those are made by the same guys AFAICT. UAPP is no free app though, costs a sum, and sadly its proprietary driver(yeah, those devs apps use "non-standard interface") only works inside the program, one cannot watch Youtube or MX Player by using that... Compatibility list is on the devs site. My card, E-MU 0404 USB is listed as compatible for only RECORDING, not playback. Heck, I'm absolutely certain, I saw someone on some forum claiming they got same card totally working under UAPP and that wasn't even on Lollipop! Anyway, my trial and error continues...
I don't have a USB OTG cable for the TF101.
Instead, I'm using the keyboard dock that provides two USB ports.
It should be the same thing.
It is very good to hear that USB audio is working for a lot of people on Lollipop.
I've tried testing my speakers on more Android devices - my Nexus 5 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S.
Like the TF101, the speakers are detected as the OS switches over (no more audio out of built in speakers) but no sound out of the speakers themselves.
I'm leaning towards these speakers are not compatible with Android yet.
Sigh - non-standard standards.

Bluetooth device to only let my phone know I'm in the car?

I want to find a way for my phone to automatically know when I turn on or off my car while I'm in it. I will use tasker to turn on and off my mobile hotspot when I'm in the car, so my echo dot ,connected to aux-in, can play music.
tl;dnr: looking for a usb-powered-only bluetooth device that can connect to phones and doesn't involve the aux-in of my car audio. eg: usb-powered bluetooth speaker/speakerphone/input-device.

My car doesn't have bluetooth, so I have been looking for some sort of bluetooth device that will turn on and off with the car.
I don't want to use any type of bluetooth receiver since:
I'm already using my aux-in for my echo.
FM transmitter is also out since I'm switched to aux-in.
If I have the bluetooth receiver audio go nowhere, then I won't be able to hear my phone's GPS navigation.
I thought about bluetooth hands-free calling speakerphone devices, but the ones I've seen all use batteries, meaning it'll not turn off immediately when I turn off my car and will also probably need me to manually turn them on when I start my car. Anyone seen a batteryless version?
Are there any other bluetooth devices that run purely off usb power or off the car charger port?
I just tried the nonda zua smart charger that is suppose to connect to your phone when you turn it on. Only problem is that despite it showing up in the bluetooth device list, it doesn't seem to be a device that you can normally connect to. You have to install their app and the app somehow connects to it, even though the phone's bluetooth icon shows no active connections. Maybe the phone will only show a connection to devices it has supported profiles for. I can't even get tasker or android's smart lock to sense that the device is near.
Anything else out there? Is there a bluetooth input device that runs purely on usb? I have a selfie stick with a usb component that charges over usb and has an on/off switch, and I'm tempted to test if I can power it with the internal battery and have it turn on automatically when power is supplied. But I don't want to break my only selfie stick yet.
I suppose I can pair some usb-powered speakers to a bluetooth receiver so that I hear my phone over the speakers. Any recommendations? Of course, the speakers must not have batteries.
Found this:
It's actually a bluetooth speaker that doesn't have a battery. No idea if it will auto-pair when usb power is on or if the lamp can be turned off.
Can't you use an NFC tag on your car mount? When you mount your phone it hits the NFC tag and since you use Tasker you can set it to do what you want when you touch the NFC tag.

I may not always mount my phone and it may just stay in my pocket. And I would need to remember to hit the NFC again when I leave my car to 'automatically' turn off the hotspot. I also sometimes forget to take my phone with me and was going to have the phone alert me when the car is off.

I'll look into that. I need it automatically connect to my phone without the need to install an app. I don't want to face the same issue as with the nonda car charger, which requires the app to be running constantly to connect and it somehow can connect without android showing a bluetooth connection to it.
I've decided against obdii adapter because I am unsure if android has a built-in profile to automatically connect to it without the aid of a third party app to constantly monitor bluetooth. And they are rather expensive, especially for the ones that are smart enough to go to sleep and not constantly be powered on and drain the car's battery.
There are some speakerphone adapters that don't use batteries so I'm going to try one of them and connect them to usb-powered speakers. Going from a Nexus 6P to a Pixel XL, I'm finding the speakers are now rather weak and adding external speakers will help with GPS navigation.
It seems to me the easiest thing to do would be to upgrade your car stereo. By the time you're done with all of these workarounds, it might be cheaper, too.
Either that or ditch the echo dot and use the phone to replace it's functionality. I'd go to an auto audio shop and see if they could install an ignition switch controlled power source running a proper Bluetooth to aux adapter and compare that to the cost of a new head unit.

Do they make car stereo units that can mix multiple sources like aux-in and bluetooth?
I've had a cheap ODBII scanner in multiple cars for years and never had a battery drain issue. I honestly can't remember if my phone auto connects to it or not, last time I tried to read from it I couldn't because the latest Android beta update broke the connection.

You're missing the point, android auto will do your music and satnav prompts over usb. No need for the echo dot at all.
Rockford fosgate "rfbtaux" cheap reliable and will do what you need
You can use an OBDII adapter for detection
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kanetik.bluetooth_profile_condition&hl=en
You can set the condition to activate your task when its near the adapter
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kanetik.movement_detection&hl=en
I just learned they also have this app that should bypass the need for the hardware.
These apps are not free, $1.49 each. I can vouch for the bluetooth detection app, might try the movement one.
I bought this for my car and it turns on when there is no key in the ignition and off automatically when the key is pulled out.

[HELP] USB-C dongle DAC constantly disconnecting

Phone: Poco F1, DAC: Jcally JM6 Pro
I'm playing music, it stops and there is "Preparing USB device..." toast. Sometimes it reconnects a few seconds later and I can start playing music again, sometimes I need to reconnect it physically. Sometimes it disconnects once in 5 minutes, sometimes it starts disconnecting every 5 seconds. Upon disconnection sometimes the music player crashes and a few times even the whole system went into a restart.
It's not the fault of the music playing app, I tried many and whether the player has direct USB access doesn't make a difference. The phone's USB-C port is new and clean. The dongle works perfectly fine on any other device. The connected earphones make no difference. The DAC is relatively weak and it should easily receive enough power from the port.
I tried 3 different Android 13 ROMs with different kernels and same things would happen. I went back to stock fastboot rom, flashed Android 12 PE+ on top of it and initially it was working fine but then disconnects started and I couldn't figure out the trigger. Interestingly, upon reflashing the ROM, disconnects would happen even in the beginning.
The only ROM that solves my problem is stock MIUI A10 ROM, no disconnects whatsoever. But it's old and not that usable. Anyone have any idea what's causing this and what can I do?
May be phone's USB port your DAC is plugged into is a low-power one. Hence try to add an externally powered USB hub between your phone and your DAC. This will supply ample power to the DAC that the underpowered USB port just can’t deliver.

Thanks for the response. As I said, the DAC is relatively weak, people drive dongles over 2 times as powerful with no issues with this phone. Also, everything works flawlessly on the old MIUI fastboot a10 ROM but it's not good for daily use.
