Whats up guys

Just bought a Nexus s 4g today from sprint and got rid of my HTC EVO 4G which i had for almost a year and been rooted pretty much that whole time.
just a couple quick questions regarding the SNS.
Since this is internal memory and no sd card how do i add music bring all my pics and videos back from my computer? Only thing i could think of is download some sort of program. ( the one for evo was called "HTC SYNC")
And some other questions about root. Since i just bought it today and its at version 2.3.4 is it able to be rooted or am i locked out of it cause there last update?
i also saw the guide to root and saw that theres different versions ( like I90xxxx) how do i figure out which version nexus i have.
Thanks Guys, if i have anymore questions ill ask here.
It's just like any other phone. The "internal memory" is basically a integrated SD card that is irremovable.
Just plug your phone in via USB, mount USB storage. And copy paste it!
Or get Google Music (need to get invited to the beta).
It is a Nexus phone, it is a phone that provides a unlocked bootloader (you have to manually unlock it but its relatively easy). Nexus devices are encouraged to be rooted / played with.
The Sprint 4G version is not I9020A/I9020T/I9023
Root Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078213
Read the stickied threads. They'll help.
Edit: and which is the best root method to use.

I just said,

And provided the root guide link. Please read that, I shouldn't have to repeat this.
This phone is not Motorola or HTC. Those phones come with a locked bootloader which disallows you to tamper with rooting / flashing ROMs. To do that on those phones, you need a exploit.
Now this is what i meant by.. the Nexus devices come with a unlockable bootloader. Just follow the guide.
edit: Best root method? Uh.. rooting couldn't get any easier than a Nexus device. It's ENCOURAGED to be tampered with.
1. get drivers installed
2. go into bootloader mode
3. fastboot oem unlock
4. accept the terms
5. fastboot flash recovery whatever-recovery-name-is.img
6. go into CWM and flash su.zip
7. done you're stock rooted.
optional: download ROM & kernel, radio update (if there is one. I don't follow NS4G)

You have to repeat yourself because in your first post you didn't add a link to root until you edited it.

So you want me to double post instead of editting it? (Like what you did?) It was a relatively quick edit in <20 seconds.
Yeah ok. The only edit I did was to make the job EASIER FOR YOU by linking the stickied thread. I didn't have to do it, but I did it because I wanted to be nice.
The term 'unlocked bootloader' as I mentioned (before the edit) explains it all.

No one asked for a double post but with that stick up your ass you should be told that if you don't like repeating yourself then don't get all pissy if you didn't edit you first post fast enough by the time i replied.

Lol, Why are you getting upset? I gave what you asked for as well as including additional background information in regards to the bootloader. No reason to get a attitude. You didn't properly read what I said before responding.
You should double read things before you post. The only edit I did was to provide the link of the stickied thread to make the rooting process for YOU easier.
Nothing else was changed/removed. I included information saying that its a unlockable device, so the same rooting method will always work regardless of the Android verison before it was editted. And I edit my posts rather than double posting it because well, I believe its apart of the rules? And its apart of Forums 101. That's why the edit option is there.

lol come on now your saying i was the one getting upset? Don't try to turn the tables on me like that.
When you want to start a sentence by I JUST SAID... and I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO REPEAT MYSELF then expect some backlash.
Thanks for the info and ill even thank your posts, But next time don't keep editing your posts just like you did to your last one. even if they are quick, im a quick replier and i won't see your edit. you should also try to come out more polite then with a stick up your Va-Jay-Jay

Turn tables? You're the one raising your "voice" towards me.
I answered your question in regards to the rooting process. I gave you what you wanted and this is how you repay me by talking "smack" to me because I told you to re-read what I said.
Try to help people and people don't even have the courtesy to say thank you.
Anyways, I'm done here. Take it how you want but I gave you the answers to what you were looking for and I don't think its fair to feed drama around the forums to this absurd argument.
Better get used to me being around the forums because I'm pretty active. No harsh feelings though. Good luck rooting and have fun with your new device
I said thanks in my last post and here goes another for you so you don't get too upset, Thanks.
Enjoy your day

[Q] HTC Sensation Root using Terminal Emulator

Hi guys, so maybe an extremely retarded question (since I haven't found anything to help me no matter how hard I looked), but why can't I go into SU mode?
I have a HTC Sensation recently updated to ICS. Debugging mode is activated and I installed Terminal Emulator from the Play Store. However, almost anything I write in the console gets the reply "Command name" : Not Found. So if I try su for example I get " su: Not Found". I activatet non-market app installation, in case it has any relevance but I still get Not Found on anything I tried (except for ls and pwd).
I'm doing this in order to see whether I can unlock my phone using the first method described here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107
Can anyone help, please? Sorry if I haven't searched long enough and there actually is an answer. I've even looked on the documentation page of terminal emulator but I didn't find anything on this.
Thanks!
I have a sensation so I can help you out there
First things first next time post in the sensation forum.
Next what are you trying to do. That guide is to sim unlock your phone not to root it. How did you update to ICS was it over the air or did you install a custom rom. If it was over the air then you aren't rooted your following the wrong guide. You need to root it first following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 that guide
First of all sorry for posting in the wrong forum, the "noob" video on registration scared and confused me a lil' bit
Okay so I got it all wrong then, I firstly want to root the phone, I was under the impression that root automatically does sim unlock and that they're basically the same thing. Sorry about that. Okay so I first do the root, my other question is, would that (except for voiding my warranty) get me to lose anything? Like, I'm on a UK contract with Vodafone and I've got 500MB web usage monthly, would I need to set that connection up manually after rooting or will everything stay as it is, except for the fact that I've got root permissions?
As I said, I'm only starting out with Android tinkering which is why I'm happy following instructions on what, when and where I need to do
Thanks!
Lol no problem welcome to XDA
Sim unlock is an extra process it isn't needed but its all about personal preference. I don't know how things work over in the UK but over here I can put an AT&T sim card in my HTC Sensation (I have T-Mobile) and not have to go through the process of calling into AT&T and ask for an unlock code in order to use the phone.
Your connection and everything stays as is.
Happy Flashing

[Q] root one x running 1.85?

I've attempted to root via the root script that uses att servers and it seemed successful, rebooted device twice and said complete, but when I check with root checker basic it says "device not properly rooted." any suggestions where I could be having the problem?

You should probably post this in the root thread but if I had to guess you need to go into SU and update the binaries.
In the OP of the root thread it says that if it doesn't work, set your date ahead 2 days, reboot, and try again. Probably would be a good idea to try that.
I actually did reset the date before creating a thread. In the OP it says to do that if you become stuck at the ... screen. I didn't get stuck. WHole process went through like clockwork, said complete, rebooted automatically and now, well i dunno. Phone works fine, just don't have a super user.
Try it again.
go in the dev forum and follow one step root instructions...did mine the other day. have to set date ahead like mentioned above and re install the root like 3 times before it works.
I was able to do it using the steps outlined in this post.

ATT One X 1.85 Root Successful!
To all the "try it agains", thanks! Being new to android and rooting i wasn't sure how to read what was happening, but after a lot of google-ing (with results that said try again, set date forward etc..) and really trying to read all the script, I finally got it! For the other noobs that come to this link... continue to re-run the root process exactly as the instructions say. It will take a sitting session of doing the exact same thing 3-4 times. Each time it is rooting or installing another package. It took me MUCH longer than it should have because I wasn't familiar and more importantly, wasn't paying attention to the script, you have to look at more than the instructions on web page. Unlocking bootloader is very simple as well, given that you can look at exactly whats going on in front of you! Thanks again to all the developers and posters that make it easier on a rook like me!

[Q] Bootloader unlocked, rooted, clockworkmod installed now what

So far this is the first phone where I've been able to unlock the bootloader. I've rooted several phones with no problem. I do know how to make apps on a beginner level and I'm very eager to do some programming for this phone. I would like to learn how to create and reprogram kernels. Right now I'm stuck. What do I do now. My Photon Q is ready!!!! Bootloader unlocked, rooted, and I have installed the clockworkmod. Can someone help me get started on programming roms, kernels, and etc. I WANT TO FULLY CUSTOMIZE THIS PHONE.
So far all I've been able to do is change the boot animation...lol
I'm also trying to figure out how I can block my carrier so I can tether and stream videos without CSPIRE restrictions.
custom kernel, custom rom etc, start tweaking now
You could try and give Interloper a hand on developing CyanogenMod 10.1 for the Q. I'm sure he'd appreciate any assistance you can give.

They havent been developed yet for this phone. If you want to learn something please go to the Photon Q development forum and find the CM9 or CM10 thread and help interloper or aaargghh with some troubleshooting on those custom roms. PM them or whatever, they are asking for testers. CM is what this phone needs, bad.
Unlocked How?

I am wondering exactly how did you unlock the bootloader? I recently purchased the Photon Q from CSpire but I am unable to unlock it. I went to the Motorola site and went through the entire process only to be told my phone is not eligible to unlock. Spoke with Motorola support and they informed me that only the Sprint Photon Q could be unlocked. I hope you can point me in the right direction. Thank you very much in advance for any help you can give.
Ah yeah, here's the thread about CSpire. Are you sure you didn't make a typo?
hey guys, i found my way to this thread as well, haha. i hope you find a way to unlock, robcross72... keep us posted.

In answer to your question, what I did was after manually typing in that long "code" I finally did a cut and paste of all the numbers. At my sons baseball game so I will attempt again when I get home. Maybe it was my work computer. You know how IT likes to block all sorts of stuff. I will repost my results. Thanks again guys for your help.!
Still can't unlock
Hey guys, I just wanted to post what I have tried so far. I again went and tried getting the unlock key from Motorola. I have cut and pasted the code into Microsoft Word 07, Word 10, and a trial of Word 13, as well as used Note Editor. I have also tried manually typing the code in but still no luck. I tried late last night and again this morning. I read where one guy used a different email to login on the Motorola site and it worked for him. I tried that as well. I still continue to get the message that states "You're device does not qualify to unlock". In another thread yogi2010 pointed out a way that people were rooting without unlocking. I have read through that forum and though it has been successful, from what I have read, I would have to have the bootloader unlocked in order to install custom rom's. I may be wrong but that is what I have learned thus far. Anyway, I said I would post after I re-attempted. I appreciate everyone's help. Maybe the original poster will make his way back here and explain how he unlocked his CSpire Photon Q. I will keep trying.
Well, if you make any typo, then it will say that the phone does not qualify to bootloader unlock.

Well, I have manually typed it in many times. I have had someone else call each digit to me and then had them double check. I have counted the digits in the code to make sure I had the correct amount. I have also copied the code and pasted it in but still I continue to get the message that my device does not qualify to be unlocked. It just seems for whatever reason mine will not be unlocked. However, I cannot thank you guys enough for your advice and assistance.
Update: Success!
Hey all! I just wanted to update y'all on what has happened. I have literally been trying to unlock my phone every single day. I have continued to receive the message that my device is not eligible to be unlocked. Well, today I found myself with a little free time at work. So I again cut and pasted the code into the box on the Motorola website. And again when I clicked on the box "can my device be unlocked" I received the same message. However, since I had some free time, I clicked the button again, and again, and again..... and on the 14th try (honestly I counted) I received the message to get my unlock key. I clicked on "I agree" and within a few minutes I received the email with the unlock key. I have not unlocked yet due to my work computer will not allow me to download the Android SDK. But I will be doing the unlock in a bit when I go to lunch. Now the next step is to search the forums on how to get CM10 on my phone, if I can. Thanks again to everyone who offered advice.

[Q] Just about to receive my OPO, what now?

I'm finally moving over to my first android phone (don't ask why it took so long), and want to maximise the utility of my OPO.
I'm new to having an open-source OS on my phone, although am relatively technically savvy and am confident in my ability to safely customise my phone to preference. However all the information on this forum is slightly overwhelming for someone new to this scene. So, if you were receiving an OPO now, what would your first steps be towards having the best phone you can? Preferably with some beginner guides with how to do this.
First thing to do: unlock your bootloader.
It is mandatory to customize your phone. You want to do it as soon as you get it because it needs wiping your internal memory and you don't want to start over once you'll get your phone fully seT.
There are many guides, don't use toolkits but adb and fastboot commands
Sent from my Oneplus One
While you're waiting for your phone you should download and install adb/fastboot and drivers, that way you'll be ready to go when your phone arrives. I have a guide in my signature that will explain it to you.
