Android minimum brightness fix - General Questions and Answers

Hello all
I've used Samsung and some other android devices which their brightness can go very low but some other devices can't
This brought me to install pixel experience gsi and it solved the problem but there are many limitations on a gsi so I'm back to stock rom
I rooted the device and went to root directory and changed the brightness llevel from 255 to 50
But although it does get lower, the maximum brightness is now really low
I want a fix, how do custom roms solve this problem

Failure screen brightness at different roms

Hello.
I have one year the nexus S, and during that time I spent three or four times the following.
I turn off the phone and when you turn it lose screen brightness by 50%. And I have to leave at 100% brightness and do not know how to recover the brightness.
It has happened in different roms.
How could restore the default value without being forced to change rom every time I pass?
Which ROMs are they? Which kernel?
It has happened with these roms.
FASTEST ICS 4.04 03/03/12 Pixel Rom 1.60
Codename android (varias versiones)
CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ICS v.9 HYBRID+Matr1x 17.5
I have proven different kernels, which come in the roms and Matrix.
what about stock roms ? are you on auto brightness ? auto brightness always behaves strangely ...
I stoped using auto brightnes. Too annoying. . Stock user
Sent from my Nexus S
Once I had to re install the original rom ice cream to see if the brightness again. I got back the shine, but it happens again with other roms. Sometimes installing rom cuaquier recovers brightness.
The funny thing is, sometimes when I install the new rom, the first time does not recover the brightness, and i install the rom and it works.
Brightness What strikes me in both manual and automatic mode.
I try restarting many times to see if I recover the brightness and does not work. Yesterday remove the battery, and recovered the brightness.
It is very rare ...

How to set the minimum brightness of android via ADB?

I flashed a custom MIUI 8 rom on my android smartphone. But accidentally when I reduced the brightness it went pitch black. I set it to 50 via adb. Is there any way I can set the default minimum brightness value to any other integer than zero so that I don't have to wait to get to my laptop to be able to use my mobile again?

Oxygen tweaks for OP6 with replacement screen

I have replaced my panel with an aftermarket ips lcd (not amoled). While the display is perfectly acceptable oxygen os doesnt seem to be able to handle the brightness on the new replacement screen. It often freezes on a setting if i keep it at that particular brightness level for too long and requires a reboot to start working again.
These issues don't happen with Lineage, and while i could run lineage, i would like to run oxygen as i like it.
What is it about the brightness settings that lineage does differently from oxygen, and can that be somehow patched back into oxygen?
It's baked on the op system i dont think there is a way... Custom rom is the only way

POCO F2 PRO LOS / Crdroid Decreasing min brightness using livedisplay and Tasker

As some of you already running custom roms are aware, the minimum brightness currently possible in LOS roms ( Pixel experience, Crdroid, LOS) is far too high to be used at night.
Yesterday i figured out that by decreasing RGB values in LiveDisplay ( Settings->Display->LiveDisplay->ColorCalibration) from default 100% to 10% ( lowest possible) i could achieve similar minimum brightness as with my previous phone which i measured at under 1 nits.
Here is the problem: It's a PITA to go through decreasing and increasing values each time you want to decrease the brightness. I have tried multiple solutions but it seems that the only viable one is trough use of Tasker. Here is the catch. I have little experience with its programming language and its UI is confusing at best. Is there anybody here that has experience with tasker and wants to help me with this? My current best approach ( dunno if each part even works yet)
CASE IF BELOW 5% brightness
THEN set Livedisplay RGB to 10%
IF ABOVE 5% brightness
THEN set Livedisplay RGB to 100%
Or just make a widget toggle.

Question Adaptive brightness on GSI?

My concern is adaptive brightness not working on GSI ROM (not even one)
I have LineageOS 19.1 and adaptive brightness ain't working (had Pixel Experience and AOSP, but doesn't work either).
I have also tried "force alternative backlight scale" - that only enables brightness to be changed
I have read and found the one way about overlays' /vendor/overlay stuff, but overlay is already there, folder permissions are 755 and APK permissions are 644. And mo matter how much reboots or termux commands still nothing... Also found treble-overlay-samsung-galaxy-a53.apk in root files but that one also doesn't seem to solve the problem.
Night Light works perfectly, still don't get why adaptive ain't working.
I've seen people on GSI roms on this forum, so help would mean a lot.
Same problem here. I heard that overlay require root so I didn't try it since I dont want to root my device.
Any help would be appreciated
If its the same as my other Samsung phone and if I remember correctly then its due to the adaptive brightness being custom implemented for Samsung's official rom that isn't compatible with unofficial roms. Something like that.
Either way, its just how it seems to be with custom roms. You can set low brightness if you want it and less battery usage and if low brightness is offered.
Since I'm not working on the rom, I could be wrong for this phone. But, since you bring up its not working here, it seems like its probably it.
