I did a search but no solutions came up.
Basically, when I touch the screen to move the little lock icon over to unlock it nothing happens.
I powered it off by holding power for 10 seconds and then powered it on again.
No bueno, nothing happened.
Anyone else run into this and was able to solve it?
yes, i had the same problem, you will not like this..
do one step at the time and check if it works, if not continue to the next one
1. cold reboot (hold power button for 30-60 seconds),
you can try step 1 several times
2. turn it off, let it charge for 2-3 hours, turn it on
3. reboot to safe mode (this not really sure how i did it..lol.. i think is, turn off and turn on and quickly hold both volume keys until it boots up, if you did it correctly it will boot and say "safe mode" at the bottom left corner).
4. reset to factory settings, hold volume (-) and power key at the same time, (this will erase everything)
when i had this problem, i actually had to cold rebooted several times and reboot into safe mode after step 4 to have the touchscreen working again..I was about this close () to give up and return it to walmart..
I had the same thing happen to me, and all the rebooting in the world couldn't fix it. I don't know if you're still on stock rom or not, but what I did was reflashed the Prime rom and it worked again.
Nothing helped, even hard wipe.
Returned the TF.
I had this same problem... Unfortunately the only thing that worked was letting the power drain out. That was a huge pain because the Transformer has a killer battery and there are only so many times you can turn the screen on and off to drain it. It took about 4-5 days to fully drain. After that point I had upgraded to 3.1 and it has worked flawlessly since then... definitely a firmware problem not hardware.
Hi,
I've been running Megatron ROM for the last couple of weeks with no issues. Tonight when I turned on my tablet it offered me a ROM update to 1.1.3, so I downloaded the update, rebooted into recovery and installed the zip.
When the tablet restarted it kept saying "unfortunately system ui has stopped" and I couldn't access the menu buttons at the bottom of the screen. I managed to get the tablet to power off and I was going to boot into recovery, wipe and reinstall the full ROM again but I couldn't get the tablet to power on.
I plugged it into the wall charger and managed to get it to boot (system ui crashed again) so I powered it off again and now it's completely dead.
I've tried to power on with all combinations of the Vol Up/Down and power button, nothing.
I guess I wait for the battery to discharge and try again?
Any other ideas? Am I bricked?
1.1.3 is a update only. Install 1.1.2 from the thread and then 1.1.3
and delete this directory "/data/data/com.android.providers.media"
I can't get the tablet to power up, it's dead!
I'll wait until the battery has discharged and try to power on.

connect the charger. if it doesn't power up, hold the power button until it does
I held the power button for 5 minutes, nothing.
Will try again tomorrow, the battery was at 45% when it died.
Still couldn't get it to turn on this morning, i'll keep trying over the weekend.
If I still can't get it to turn on after a few days I'll try charging it overnight to see if I can revive it. It's looking very bricked at the moment though
Let sit for a full day or so
Plug in the charger to the tf but not the wall and ground it somehow (piece of metal etc.)
Hold the power button for 3-5 mins (to discharge)
Shout, PRAISE ODIN!
Plug in tf to wall for a minute.
Unplug
Hold power.
This is how I revived a Sph-d700 that I had in a really bad state, the odin step is crucial. Good luck.
Is it not even possible to boot into the recovery mode when you only plug the tablet to the PC?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
last case scenario, try and boot into APX and use adb to reinstall your system
I had it attached to my pc last night and tried all combinations of vol-up/down and power, the tablet never appeared in device manager. I understand that APX mode the screen stays blank but something should appear in device manager, right?
I'll see if I can get any life out of it tonight and if not, i'll give it a charge and try again tomorrow.
Thanks for the advice everyone.
Guys, after a 1 hour charge i've managed to get the tablet to boot again.
System UI stops on loading.
I've used adb reboot to get into CWM, the up and down buttons work but the power button doesn't respond. I can't choose any options in CWM.
How should I proceed to get the tablet usable again?

You can use the "touch" recovery. Use the repacked by Roach.
It only read from the internal SD card so put all your files you need to flash there.
Just DON'T use a superwipe script or you'll have nothing to flash.
Right, i've managed to flash Megatron 1.1.2 again, the system ui error is gone.
However, it looks like my power button has failed which would explain why I couldn't turn the tablet on or work with CWM.
I guess I try and flash to stock and contact Asus....
It looks like the power button isn't broken, it just needs to be pressed harder than usual to get the tablet to turn on. I've changed the settings so that the volume rocker wakes the tablet.
Flashed Megatron 1.1.2 then 1.1.3 and we're back in business
Edit: PRAISE ODIN!
Just a quick update, I noticed that my power button was at a slight angle, it looks as though it had slipped and the bit of plastic behind the button was sitting below the actual button on the tablet, meaning that I had to push the button harder to turn it on (if that makes sense).
I got a small bit of blu-tac and pulled the button up, which appears to have reseated it and it's now working as it was before.
Glad to here everything is working again. The question now is why this happened in the first place?
Did you go from 1.0.4 to 1.1.3? I am on 1.1.3 with no issues but as said in the Megatron thread, you have to fully wipe coming from 1.0.4 plus 1.1.2 has to be installed before installing the 1.1.3 update.
I don't know, I was on 1.1.2 and installed the 1.1.3 update then when I rebooted I started to get the UI error. That's really the only problem that I had with Megatron, it would have been easily fixed by just wiping and reinstalling.
It was just at that point that my power button started to play up which confused the issue.
Does anybody now how to get into recovery mode on an Xtrons HU? I tried every combination I could find and I've already been in there but can't remember how I got there. Xtrons support is horrible. They just sent me a video showing a factory reset procedure when I asked for the combination.
I have that one:

You installed malaysk new ROM for our MTCD units via the settings menu or another ROM?
malaysk rom
1. downloaded his rar file
2. unrar
3. copy .img file (dupdate.img) to my sdcard for maps
4. in settings clicked check update (rom is installing from recovery after auto reboot)
btw. Have one problem (i think that its problem with I cant wipe data and cache) u can find it in malaysk thread (last my post).
I have an Xtrons HU as well. I'm not sure the exact buttons to press to get into recovery, but I have done it, so it's possible. Try holding down power button until it totally powers off, then keep holding it until it starts to reboot, eventually you might get in.
On my Xtrons, it doesn't like dupdate.img name, and preferes update.img... but for whatever reason, it gets an error during flashing malaysk's rom, and reboots back to stock rom. I need to look more into it... it seems like it is flashing rom, but at some point an error flashes by too fast to read. I only tried it once so far, will again when I get more time to play.
On my unit, I tried the combo power/reset without any success. Before I read up on this, I did however get into recovery once by accident with just the power button. So after playing around with this more, I can get into recovery consistently doing this:
1) Hold power button until unit turns off and (on my unit) light flashes.
2) Let go and then press the power button again. This somehow shuts off the unit since it would normally just reboot after releasing the button it seems.
3) Press the power button again to turn it on. It should hopefully go into recovery.
I have no idea if this works on other units, but I have not seen a description of this in any of the posts/videos I have seen.

same to me. XTRONS HU, got into recovery by the same method but then, cannot flash. The unit is a GS.
Did you make any progress?
da_anton, did you ever get into recovery mode? I have the Xtrons PF75ATTA which looks the same as yours. After changing the /system directory to read write and adding 3 lines to the build.prop file. The unit only showed the car navigation lollipop screen and the android/car logo.
I have tried almost every combination of power and reset button. How did you do it in the end?
Thanks

Yes I managed to do it. First I would recommend you have a really silent place. You can hear some very quiet sounds at different stages. At least I could.
I managed it that way:
press the power button till the unit is off. I can hear a sound like a "plop". But very quiet. That is my indicator that the unit is off now
release the button. You should now hear another quiet "plop" when the unit is turning on again.
wait maybe 1sec or even more to press and hold the power button again.
the unit now enters recovery
It took me a while to got it working so you have to try it a couple of times.
Thanks, I managed to do it, took me about 20 minutes. I have to say I couldn't hear the noises you were referring to but just knowing the process worked only on timing and the power button narrowed down the possibilities. Thanks again
Xtrons TD696AS recovery mode buttons
This method works on the TD696AS as well.. Press and hold power button until dvd leds flash 3 times and then solid on., release and press momentarily a couple of more times. Wait a few seconds and unit will restart into recovery mode.

It worked on a Xtrons PB76FSFAP-S.
Thanks.
Just installed Oreo on my px5 Xtrons unit. (Mine doesn't have physical buttons minus the reset button).
From any point...hold the reset button for 25 seconds, let go of it...when you see the boot animation press the reset button again (not hold).
You will have to use the reset button as the method for going down through the menu...then hold reset button for it to choose the item.
Worked for me.

Xtrons PB7646BAP Recovery
On the Xtrons PB7646BAP:
I tried everything mentioned in this thread. Nothing worked because my unit does not flash lights or make a "plop" sound. As long as the the car ACC is on, the lights on the unit are on. There is, however, one way I can tell if the unit is on or off after pressing the power button -- by the hissing sound from the speakers.
1. Hold power button down until you no longer hear speakers hissing. Then release button.
2. Not fast, and not too slow: Press then release the button. Then press and release a second time.
3. Unit should come up in recovery. If it doesn't, repeat above.
This sometimes doesn't work. Sometimes because I press too quickly or too slowly. You will have to do it a few times to get the feel of the rhythm you should use.
- Bought new October 2016, unlocked Exynos Galaxy S7
- Have been using it without issues until roughly one month ago, when it started to randomly freeze reboot itself, sometimes after corrupting the graphics of whatever screen it was on just prior to rebooting. I chalked it up to it needing a Factory Reset, which I was planning to do shortly.
- Last week I had the issue where the phone worked but the screen didn't turn on; the LED worked, I could hear notifications etc but the screen would remain unlit. I forced it to reboot by holding power and volume down, and it seemingly returned to normal after the reboot.
- Yesterday morning I was browsing Facebook when the phone froze and I got a corrupted screen, except this time instead of rebooting it just shut down itself and became unresponsive. Plugging it on wasn't doing anything, no orange charging LED; power and volume down didn't work.
Went on the phone with a Samsung rep and they told me to plug it to the charger and hold power + home + volume down for 15 seconds; A blue screen came on warning about installing a custom OS, rep told me to push volume down and decline the installation. I did, the phone turned itself off, then the battery charging icon on the middle of the screen came on as well as the orange LED. I let it charge up to about 30% and then tried to turn the phone on; the phone started bootlooping at the point where it animates the Samsung logo.
- Thought I'd try to wipe the cache partition, so I pressed power + home + volume up and it came to the blue maintenance screen with the white droid, but instead of proceeding to the part where it shows a dead droid, several black rectangles started to blink in and out across the whole screen, not always on the same places. Then shortly the phone went dead again, without responding to anything.
- After maybe half an hour I could get it to the blue custom OS screen again with power + home + volume down, and upon pressing volume down to decline I could get the battery charging icon again, but after a few seconds the green animated dots that come up when it's charging just froze, the phone went black, and that's it.
- Let it sit plugged in the charger for a few hours, but can't get it to respond to anything since; power + home + vol [up/down] doesn't do anything. Connect it to a computer doesn't do anything. Samsung rep has no help to offer except suggesting I take it to an authorized repair center.
Anything else I can try?

Hi mate
I could be a hardware problem ...but before saying so lets try flashing the firmware again
Check this thread as a guide .
If you can boot , first do a backup of all your things
Find out what CSC you have , use an app like phoneinfo
Now go to Sammobile or from the thread i gave you and download a firmware with your CSC.
When flashing use AP, BL , CP and CSC ( not home_csc) why? because we want to format all partition , see here how to select re-partition , step 6.
If is a firmware issue this should take care of it
Hi,
Hardly doubt that this is a software/firmware problem. Probably the mainboard or the battery went faulty. Just send it to the repairing service. I suppose it is under warranty. Good luck!

Unfortunately I can't try that because I can't put the phone in Download Mode, it doesn't respond to vol down + power + home for whatever many seconds.

Sorry to hear that..
Not to many options left , you could try to use a USB JIG to get it into download mode......but it looks more and more like a hardware issue..
I made a factory reset; it started as usual, but after about 10 minutes, an error message appeared. I left the phone for about an hour while charging and since it was still stuck on the error message, I turned it off long pressing the power button. At the next boot-up, it seems to be resuming the factory reset, but after a couple of seconds it reboots again in this weird bootloop.
At first, I decided to flash the image via fastboot, but if I try to enter recovery mode while it's rebooting, it works, but again, after a couple of seconds it reboots, so I don't have the time to do anything.
Do you have any idea of what it could be? What can I try to do?
P.S. at the moment of the factory reset was installed a stock build of Android 6 (I don't remember which one, but surely not the latest)
Possible power button problem?
I was hoping that was a software problem, but since my power button has been not working well for a long time, it was the only possible reason.
For anyone else who's having a similar problem, i adjusted the position of the power button from the inside with a small screwdriver (you have to remove the cover and the motherboard protection) and then just a simple flash via fastboot.
