So the normal G logo that appears during boot up is black and white. There's a color version showing up for a second before that.
Sometimes though the color one persists for several seconds while booting my device. What's the significance of this?
I´m not too sure, but I think it has something to do with Material colors. Are your colors black & white?
Material colors before boot? Weird. But no they're not
I find this is the case when you boot following a Security update or Google Play system update.
Normal boot ups the 'G' will be matched to whatever your material colours are set to (usually based on wallpaper).
Following an update I usually observe the official Google colours 'G' (red, yellow, green, blue) displayed for a period of time - likely while applying the changes in the update as these boots take slightly longer.
Ah, the update part makes sense. I think there was a Play services update these days so it matches.
Strange thing is though, my wallpaper is all deep purple and some red, not really the b&w of the boot logo I have... I'll try changing wallpaper and observe, but I think it was always b&w for me!
How do you change the material colors? I really don't like the washed out pastel colors.

I've suspected for a while that my phone has issues with it's colors, because I can't seem to use any background without it pixelating (text mostly) or shows very unsmooth color transitions from black to white.
Whenever I select an image for wallpaper, the part outside the orange area has a browning overlay on the colors that just looks wrong.
Images full of colors look very good, it's the black and white ones with fading from dark to bright that looks horrible.
Could someone do me a favor and download this image, set it as background, and tell me if it looks clear and good on your screen, and the text looks good.

It seems like I keep running into problems with this phone
Thanks in advance.
Kit Kat changed the colors from blue to white, but there are still blue left overs. AOKP is doing a nice job with getting rid of it, but my kernel doesn't work with that ROM.
Change button color to white, as well as the little check mark, loading screens for power off, power menu, etc.
Not going to change. This was intentional UI design by Google, and changing it can potentially break the UI of many apps.
At some point theme engine support will be back in place, but this is an alteration of the default theme that should not be done.
I don't understand. If this is the way Google intentionally made it then why does my stock AOSP ROM on my Nexus for had grey accents? I'm running Omni and I love it but this blue color sometimes bugs me a bit.

Hi,
I want to get more cold color temperature. Also overall white balance - everything seems to be too warm and yellow. I can't change this using CM color Hue setting, because it doesn't change white balance, it only makes all colors to be weird. Also I found display when using revovery (for example , twrp), screen seems to be more cold color, no warm no yellow and they say Color OS has colder display too.
So it this some kernel related setting, etc? Some kind of hidden system configuration (build.prop or similar files)? How can I force colors to be colder, how can I change white balance. This is because that yellow colors are very annoying for me. Did you experienced the same?
Hello!!!
Is your screen has pure white colors with a little of bluish tint or a maybe yellow one? Is the white color cold or warm? You can check and see the screen tint if you open the stock lg calculator and look on the top part (the screen where the numbers are written)
Thank you!!!
Yellow here.
mine too I had LG G2 before and it had pure white tone... I prefer the cooler tones. I would like to see more answers....
yellow for me too. Actually, the hue shifts when you place it on a table or so, then spin the unit slowly. It's making me nuts
so all the units of g pro 2 have yellow tint?
yea me too but i love the screen it is great
well if you follow the OP and use the calculator app, and look at the "top part where the numbers are written"... then yes, everyone will be yellow, since the app itself is a yellow/green colour at the top. the bottom part where the numbers you press are, it's a grey colour.
I'm not sure how that is a reliable method to check screen tint.
surely, you'd use turn the brightness to 100% then use the LG "hidden menu" screen test to bring up a white screen to see if it's got any tint? which, when I do, is a pure white screen. no hint of blue/cool colours/yellow.

on my lg g2 the top part of the calculator was grey and not yellowish. the app itself is light grey on the bottom and darker grey on the top.
Is it possible to adjust the white balance or something else in the displaysettings?
Hi, I'm trying to use Tasker to change the theme with light, dark theme, but every time I changed it, it won't reflect the actual display theme. When I set it to black, the display settings show that theme is black bit the actual theme is still light. I tried restarting systemUI but only the status bar gets changed.
