You didn't write anything about the device.
Usually, pressing the power button for a long time turns the device off. Turning it on again starts the system.
Is this what you meant?

Oh sorry my device is A1 Alpha 20+ (ZTE Blade v2020) and my power button is not working (same with volume up)

There's two things that put something in recovery.
BCB and misc.
The misc partition can use the characters right at the start of the partiton "reboot-recovery".
Normally recovery erases that again.
The BCB is more squirrely. I don't know where they park that on my own device, let alone yours.
In any case, check the misc partition.

How To Get Bootloader Info

How can you get to the bootloader screen to find out if the phone is s-on or s-off?
I have been trying to hold volume down while the phone powers on and nothing seems to work.
All advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Try holding volume down button and then select to restart your phone (in the power prompt). Worked for me.

You follow the steps you would in order to Perform a factory reset using the phone buttons
1. Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery.
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER
button.
3. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release
the VOLUME DOWN button.
The details should now be listed on the top line...
Got it, that worked.
That definitely worked well. Here is my screen.
No need to pull the battery, just turn off Fast Boot (in Settings -> Power) before you shut down the phone. You can re-enable it afterwards of course.

help! stock moto g won't boot into recovery

Hi, I'm hoping i'm just being stupid but i can't get my moto go to boot into recovery.
i powered it off, changed sim cards and now it boot loops.
so boot into fastboot menu and choose any option(except barcode and the one that changes codepages or whatever) and it just goes back into boot loop. any bright ideas anyone? not been a good day so far today, my number just got ported over to OVIVO today. but they stopped operating yesterday - the joys... :crying:
cheers!
What did you else do with your phone? Is it stock? Or did you flash anything? Are you pressing volume up to select option? Did you try a factory reset?

nothing!
it's completely stock. i think i installed 1 app (philips hue). was working fine. powered off normally, took the sim out, put new one in - boot loops!
i can't do a factory reset as it when you choose anything out of the fastboot it reboots. and that's using the volume up to select options.
i think i'll just take it back to the shop. but it's a pain in the neck
Yeah 2 options fiddling around yourself or going to the shop.
I would go back to the shop and ask there as it is untouched.
Maybe it has seriously some problems.
If you want to try it yourself i would reccomend you to reflash.

Are you sure you are pressing volume up?
Last days somebody had security case for the phone.
When he pressed the gum layerd buttons he accidently pressd the power button.
Once he took off the case it worked for him.
Maybe restore firmware

hopefully this helps restoring your phone back to factory settings
I think this will help
1. With the phone powered off, press the VOL DOWN KEY for 2-3 seconds then POWER key then release.
2. The device will display different BOOT OPTIONS
3. Use the VOL DOWN Key to SCROLL to Recovery and VOL UP Key to select
Tip: If the device reboots, you may have waited to long to make a selection, you will need to begin the process again.
4. The device will display the Motorola logo and then the Android in distress ( logo with Exclamation mark)
5. Press and hold the VOL UP key for 10-15 seconds. While still holding the VOL UP key tap and release the POWER key
Tip: You can try this step, holding the phone in landscape. If you are stuck on step 6, try a force reboot by pressing the Power key and Vol Down key, and start the process again.
Try to perform a wipe data. In my case it works.

Phone stuck in bootloop, can't boot into fastboot or recovery, Please help

After trying to flash a TBO calendar/calculator inverted app I rebooted from recovery only to now be stuck in a bootloop. The only thing the phone will do is begin to reboot itself if I press all three buttons to "hard restart". (power+vol up+vol dwn). Tried using adb/fastboot to reboot into recovery or bootloader but I don't think that the phone is far enough into the boot process to be recognized by adb/fastboot because typing adb reboot-bootloader just returns "waiting on devices". I have also tried to use power+ vol dwn combo to reboot to bootloader. I have noticed that this only works for stock and other certain ROM's. It's a hit and miss as to why this occurs.
So right now I am stuck in a perpetual bootloop with no way to get to recovery or bootloader. I don't know of any other way of getting into recovery to restore a nanroid. Any one have a good suggestion? Please!
The combination of power + volume up (for like 10 or so seconds) will force a reboot. As SOON as it reboots you just need to hold volume down to get into bootloader.

I'm having the same exact problem, I figured out the volume up + power, turns the phone back on in a hardboot. But, exactly how long do you need to hold the volume down button for once it's rebooting?? I just got a replacement phone on 9/24, my previous phone had no problem with this & had the option of fast boot in the settings. Just rebooting my phone takes FOREVER to turn on (or so it seems in comparison). Any idea how or why this is now? Is it due to an update, can I uninstall the update to go back to a fast start setting?? Thanks!!

When you hold the volume down button are you also holding the power button? You need to use volume up + power to restart. Then, when it restarts, immediately hold volume down without letting up on the power button. Needs to be volume down + power to boot into hboot. As for now long do you hold it, until it boots to hboot.
Thanks for the info...
Thanks for more details I'm pretty sure I did let up on the power button thinking it was keeping it from loading. I'll try this out now!!!

Mi Note 3 Boot Loop

Hello,
My phone went into bootloop and I cannot do anything to open it. I cannot connect it to the computer or wipe all data from the phone. I have never done aything on it and the bootloop happened while i was sleeping. Woke up to find that the phone is constantly rebooting. Also the phone does not stay in fast boot mode. I managed to open the recovery mode and select wipe all data but the process interrupts and the phone reboots again. I also think that the power button might have a problem because when i only press the volume down button the device enters fast boot mode. Thanks in any help
Your power button may have been stuck. Try to press it harder or from one end.

I have opened to phone to see that the power button was indeed stuck. Had to jam a piece of paper there to make it stop for now.
Install the Recovery ROM with MiPCSuite.

How to enter recovery mode on 9860?

Tried to press power+volume up, doesn't work. Is there any other way?

connect to computer while doing and it works
You can boot into recovery without having to plug into a computer by holding power + volume up, and then once you get to the "this device is unlocked, press power key to continue" screen, rather than just waiting for that screen to disappear, press the power key and then you should be taken to recovery... at least, that's how I was able to do it

Ah gotcha, that makes sense, I've never been able to get recovery booting via power + volume up, until I randomly tried pressing the power button at the device unlocked screen, and for some reason doing that took me into recovery

What is the unlocked screen? Never saw this
Are you powering off your phone first? If so wait a few seconds after then hold down both power + volume up buttons at the same time and hold for 10 seconds. It still works for me doing it this way.

This works like a charm. I was about to give up my phone because of this predicament, I didn't want to have any issues restoring my phone in the future in case. THANKS A BUNCH!
It's kinda strange but it is bootloader issue. I am on BTK3 firmware (latest Android 10 release) and i'm experiencing such misbehave of key-kombo to enter ot recovery mode since September or October FW update. Has jus tried to downgrade bootloader to initial firmaware (ATGM) by flashing BL in odin and now i can enter recovery by only pressing vol-up + bixby. It work always. Cables, headphones... nothing needed. just keys-combo.
Then i tried to update BL to latest Android 10 (BTK3) and again recovery mode doesn't work. Only if N9860 connected to PC by cable and even with that it doesn't work for me 10 out of 10 times.
Can someone text/call Samsung support to report this issue ?
BTW thanks to @Mentalmuso for helping me!
Same things happen to Android 11.
Tried to flash on my N9860 old BL over Android 11 firmware (was installed before that, all files AP, BL, CP, CSC), flash was ok, but system was unable to load. constantly bootloops. but i was able again to enter recovery without cable and etc. Tried to wipe cache and factory reset from default recovery but no luck - bootloop.
I thought that game over and old BL is not compatible with new android 11.
But then i wanted to try do the same but with custom binaries (@Mentalmuso TWRP and kernel) and ta-da - system loaded from the first try. For me it's surprise. Now i have Android 11 latest FW for TGY (CUA3) with initial BL from the box (ATGM) and everything looks like working fine. No error in OS, no random reboots (at least after 30 minutes of test) and recovery can be simply loaded only by key combo, without any cables, headphones and PC.
I'm happy now =)
Strange thing is that after fladhing old BL system did not show error message that vbmeta changed and some error in vbmeta header. It was showed always on Android 10. But i flashed twrp again (it has vbmeta inside .zip) to be safe lol.
