Question Can you restore root backup and settings with Swiftbackup? Magisk, Themer, AOSP mods etc. - Google Pixel 7 Pro

As above, can you restore root backup and settings with Swiftbackup? It works great for normal applications but none of my root mods show. Is it possible to back them up to just be restored like a normal app? If not is there another app I could use specifically for root apps? Thanks

if you mean magisk modules or lsposed modules, there is no backup program afaik

SwiftBackup restores only the apps, not the settings and our mods.

Yeah that's what I was hoping for. I basically can't backup anything to do with root which is a shame as those things take the longest to restore and set up. Thanks for the replies

Well...at least AOSP settings is very easy to save and it seems to save perfectly...just gotta export it to a settings file...

I've used Tarb to backup and restore magisk modules all the time without incident.

Titanium backup: Apps crash after restore

Migrating to a new phone and discovered an issue with the backups on my old phone. This is tested and happening on both btw.
If I backup and restore a working app it then will force close on opening. Clearing cache and data and still force closes.
I tried uninstalling titanium, deleting titanium folder and reinstalling.
Same issue after a backup and restore of an application.
Running Oneplus 6 and Oneplus 7 pro
Unlocked and unrooted with magisk
Titanium at latest version from market.

App restore with titanium doesn't work for switching to a new phone, only restoring to the same phone and same os. When it does work the apps tend to be super glitchy. I'll drop a link to the xda thread where you can get more info/ help. Good luck.

Agreed. I've only migrated app data to a new phone using TB import/export (.TiBkp) feature. AFAIK, you can only do that one app at a time. So I've only done it with a few apps that I really wanted to save the user data.
More folks on this forum are recommending Swift Backup these days. It seems more reliable for this phone. I've use TB for years, but now I've just started trying out Swift Backup.
It appears TB is not compatible with the newer "split apks" format for newer apps in the appstore.
Basically TB will only backup the "base.apk" for an app when it does a backup. But with split apks, there are other APK files besides base.apk, like one for the app's language (split_config.en.apk) or the cpu type (split_config_arm64_v8a.apk) and the screen resolution (split_config.xxhdpi.apk).
So, since TB does NOT backup these extra apk files, these files will be missing when you do a restore with TB and thus the restored app will crash when you try to run it.
Luckily there is a new open-source backup app that works well with Slit-apks on Android 8+:

And I think it's better then Swift backup because:
1) Swift backup requires your google account login
2) Swift backup throws errors if you block internet access to it for security reasons
3) Swift backup is not open-source, so it could go the way of TB in the future.
4) And OandBackupX is FREE

Those errors seem like there is a problem with xandbackupx not being able to gain root access.
When you first started OABX, it has a bunch of cards where each card requires a different permission on your device - did you go through each card/step and give all those permissions, including root?
Are you using android 8+?

Thanks for the reply,,, yes I checked all and granted all permissions, Iam on a11 firmware running a a12 rom Bliss, ,, I will mess with it some more with it , it looks really robust with alot of options so maybe one of the settings need to be ticked or maybe it's just this rom, it's not a big deal as I have the other one to fall back on until I do some more testing

A few questions - Nandroid back up - Disable System update/notification

Hello folks.
Slowly but surely getting my nord ready.
I installed xxxnolimits and have a few questions.
1) Nandroid/Backup - what are my options here as I see TWRP does not fully work yet. Also I will have parallel apps installed.
Is there a way to backup with parallel apps? TWRP used to give an error.
Titanium backup - will backups made on titanium backup be safe and still work when restored? Is this my only option of a "backup" at present?
2) Is there a way to disable system update and system update notification - I used to to it in titanium but ive read that wont work on current android versions.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.
Hi!
My Nord is unable to restore apps with Titanium in android 10.
The new app called "migrate" is the best alternative to save all your apps, data, permissions and more.
This app make a flashable zip for your twrp companion (for a new clean rom install) or direct flash (like magisk) to reinstall your apps without reinstall a new rom.
You need others apps for direct flash: "migrate flasher" and "migrate helper".
Find all stuff in google store.
The full backup work on the (new) last version of twrp for the Note (exclude user data).
Migrate and twrp is best solution to make a full full backup
For remove system update, use a debloater terminal (magisk module) to remove com.oneplus.opbackup package or just disable it by this command:
Code:
su
pm uninstall --user 0 com.oneplus.opbackup
No more update notification after that.
It's possible to remove update menu in your settings menu:
Use a setting editor on edxposed or other source (magisk, root app,... ?? I don't know if exist)
Bonus: use oxygen updater on play store and you able to find the last fw for you and flash it in ota without remove root stuff.
Bye!
I got my Nord a few days ago and restored all my (200+) apps from my previous phone with TB. At first try it couldn't restore some apps but disabling Verify apps over USB in dev mode fixed it.
I made backup through the adb backup command. Because any recovery backup solutions is unavailable and backups from the apps can't be restored if my phone is in brick mode or on bootloop.

Back up my apps and settings. without being root

Good
I have a Xiaomi Note 10, I would like to make a backup of all my applications and settings on my computer, I use the swift Backup - Shizuku program; but this only copies the applications, configurations, messages, but NOT the user data, which is what interests me the most, to do so, it asks me to root my computer. I would like to know help me and if there is any way to make full backups without being root, and I have seen that the vast majority of applications (app) ask me for the same thing.
A NANDroid backup requires Android is got rooted.

I honestly think there is no way to backup application data without root. Try Alpha Backup but I don't know.

if you have a custom recovery you can copy those folders somewhere
"data/data"
and
"data/user_de"
those folders have apps settings (data)
but in order to restore them you have to install the app 1st then reboot ,then copy the data folder with the recovery
but root is still recommended to avoid problems ...

Question Would like to root my device and keep my data

I've seen many websites and many videos on how to root my phone. However, I can't seem to find anything that I would trust. I would like to keep all my data, would prefer to not wipe it. Would you be able to help me through this? My model is SM-G996B/DS with android 12 and one ui 4.1 bought in The Netherlands. I also want to know, if I would actually have to wipe all data, would I be able to use my back up and have all my data back while keeping my phone rooted?
You will need to unlock the bootloader first before rooting and that will trigger a factory data reset.
But there's a few ways you can backup your data first, Samsung's Smart Switch, Google backup and Swift Backup are probably the most reliable of the bunch.
I mostly use Swift Backup as it saves my wifi passwords, text messages, apps etc even my wallpaper background!
Swift Backup now supports Android 12 and rootless batch backups via Shizuku

It doesn't seem to save my photos though, so i save them to my PC first or use Google photo backup.
Magisk patched AP file is probably the safest way to root.

Thank you for your answer. If I then back up everything and wipe up the phone, would I be able to restore my data, all my apps and all into my phone after being rooted? Won't for example smart switch or swift backup say that my phone is rooted and deny to restore my data, or even having a problem while doing that? Or would I have to install everything again and all that?
I wouldn't do a restore until everything has successfully flashed. Unlocking the bootloader, installing TWRP and rooting with Magisk will all trigger data resets. No problems with swift backup and root.
