How useful is the SD card of Zenfone7? - ASUS ZenFone 7 / 7 Pro Questions & Answers

zenfone7 it is theoretically impossible to mix the SD card with the internal storage or install the software to the SD card, I have brushed the phone on OmniRom and rooted, I would like to ask you guys if there is a way to mix the SD card with the internal storage or install the software to the SD card?

Welcome to XDA.
You never should mix internal storage with the SD card even if possible.
The SD card is the data drive; all critical data goes here including data needed to do a full reload.
Internal storage: Only the apps, DCIM and download folders go here. The data drive can be used to backup the DCIM folder but that folder's name can't have dcim in it!
Backup the data drive regularly and redundantly.
Congratulations, you now have a dual drive device

[RANT]Mount Points for Internal/External Storage

Can we please all come together and agree on how to mount internal/external storage?
I had Bionix flashed and downloaded a new rom from a different dev. I rebooted into recovery and did the usual wipage before flashing to the new rom... except I forgot that Bionix mounts the SD card under External SD (I'm used to CM7), so every Android app sees the internal storage when saving files, instead of the external SD card. So now I have to reinstall an old rom just so I can re-download the files and move to SD card in order to flash the new rom.
This is getting ridiculous. I really don't care where the mount points are, I just wish they'd be consistent among the different devs.
*steps down off soap box*
I agree with you. Although I'd rather stick with the stock scheme of /mnt/sdcard/_ExternalSD. JM2C
I wouldn't. I'd rather the SD card be "SDCARD" and the internal storage be under mmc.
The thing is stock roms have it screwed up. They have SDCard as internal and SDCard/External as the micro. Plain confusing. Why have the microSD card as a folder on the internal.
They both need separate locations. The good thing about having the SDCard as the microSD card is that programs that usually write data to that location would be saving it to the removable disk vs internal storage. For Example Launcher Pro stores its backup to /SDCard. If my phone screws up or takes a swim... my LP backup is gone vs the microSD card would likely survive.
I say put the internal storage on MMC like CM has it. Load it up with music or videos and be done. Let the apps install backups and data to the microSD card so they are secured across devices.
Honestly, coming from a N1, I don't even know what to do with the 8gb internal storage. I'll probably throw my music on there to free up space on my 16gb microSD.

SD card not being used? (Concept ROM)

Hi,
I'm on the Concept Marshmallow build 3657.
I chose the option to combine my 64GB SD card so it can be used seamlessly with the internal storage (ie- not as portable).
But when I plug my phone into the PC, I only see the ~12GB of internal storage available. Also in a file explorer on the phone, I only see the 12GB internal storage.
In "Storage & USB" I see the internal storage is almost full, 11.00GB used of 11.57GB. And the SD card is listed there, only 739MB used of 56.7GB. I have some apps installed on it.
But how can I either: move photos, audio etc to the SD card from the internal storage (SD doesn't show up in file explorers). I thought the SD card would act as a seamless extension of internal storage, but that doesn't seem to be happening here.
Any advice on what I can do?

Migrating data to sd card not working properly

My phone is always out of storage space, and whenever I try to migrate my data to my sd card, my internal storage becomes even fuller. I installed a custom rom today, and formatted the sd card as internal storage again and copied some music to it, but it went to the internal storage instead. Help
What are the exact specs of the SD card?

You should read this thread about moving apps to external storage:
Unable to move Apps to SD Card Samsung A20 on Android 10.
New phone and new SD. I just added an SD card to my A20. I formatted the SD. I have transferred files (varying types - videos, images, pdf, etc) to the SD. I can see the files if I connect the phone to my laptop. (My point here is that I'm pretty sure the SD card is OK.) Now I'm trying to move...

Sorry if it's not the answer you were looking for.
It's not a good idea; the SD card access speeds/transfer rates are slower than internal memory. The data buses don't support the speeds that given to internal memory.
Use internal memory for the OS, apps and the temporary download folder
The SD card as a data drive; all critical data, backups, movies, music etc go here.
Backup the SD card at least to 2 hdds that are physically and electronically isolated from each other.
Use a fast SD card for best results.

How to use sd card as internal storage & portable storage together?

I want to keep my files in SD card . Also I want to move apps to SD card at the same time.
I have tried creating 2 partition in SD card using aparted app. Both were in exfat format (means portable). Then I went to settings > storage and formatted one of the partitions as internal storage. But unfortunately both partitions became internal instead of one.
Look inside here:
Make your SD card Semi-adopted. Works great!
EDIT: MARSHMALLOW ONLY I hate the small amount of internal memory, but I don't want to make my ENTIRE SD of 128GB Adopted and unremovable. So I found this post describing how to make your SD only partially Adopted by splitting the partition in...
