i remember, in the older android versions, google calendar notifications would stay on top until i swipe them and then they would disappear, it was a good thing for me, cuz i would only swipe when done with the reminder. now, as soon as the time set for it passes, it disappears, so there is even a big chance you can miss it, is there any specific way to make this possible?
Thank you

I went ahead and went back to stock 4.1.2, rooted and trwp just in case. In any case coming from CM10, which allows me to adjust anything, this rom sucks. My main problem is the top down slide down menu with all the icons to turn on wifi, bluetooth, etc. I want to get rid of some of those and just have wifi, airplane, gps, and screen rotation, I don't need the rest but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get rid of them or adjust that bar. Any help would be appreciated. The second thing is the notification area get's filled up too quickly, especially when mails come in. I just want sms/mms notifications there and no mail notifications , an indicator of new mail on the top bar is sufficient. Thanks a bunch...
Jeff
Since you're rooted, you can get Xposed Framework to get most/all your customizations, including your toggles.
You should be able to stop individual apps from posting notifications in the app info settings. I think that came around in 4.1, hopefully Samsung/AT&T/Rogers didn't disable that for whatever reason. If I understand you correctly, though, you don't want any email notification in the shade but you still want something in the bar? Not sure how to go about that, but you can always get a launcher with an unread count that shows up on the email icon.
I am a new Z3 owner (D6603, rooted, locked BL on 23.0.1.A.5.77) coming from a long list of Samsung devices. I've noticed two small things that bug me and wanted to ask if these are normal.
The first thing is, for lack of a better word, keeping apps in the background. For instance, if I am in the twitter app, click on a link to a story which opens in Chrome, then share the story via email by way of chrome's share function, it then opens my email app. When I'm done sending the email and hit the back button, instead of taking me back to Chrome, it returns me to the home screen. This is different than every other Samsung device I have. Those will return me to chrome, then hitting the back button again returns me to twitter app. Basically it reverses the complete path. I'll admit this might seem silly but given my normal workflow of going from app to app, returning on the same path is important. Is there some setting on the Z3 that I need to set to enable this behavior?
The second has to do with notifications. If I have multiple notifications, as expected, the icons for each notification appear in the notification bar when the notification window is collapsed, but as soon as I click on any one of the notifications, the icons disappear from the collapsed notification bar. If I expand the notification bar, all the notifications are still there, but the icons don't show when the notification bar is collapsed. Is this normal for the Z3?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Hi there
Regarding your first problem: I actually just tried this with Facebook (clicking a link), open Chrome and sharing it via Gmail
and it behaves just as you said you wanted it to, it brought me back to Chrome and then back to FB.
That notifications disappear from the status bar (collapsed notification bar?) is really unusual.
Never happened to me before, neither did I hear/read about such problems.
I'd suggest to either check if some apps are causing this (like apps which handle notifications)
or reflash the firmware through recovery (but a different, maybe your own created zip) as I think
the first problem is a system failure.
Maybe someone else can help you better, just wanted to let you know that this isn't usual for the Z3
Settings, Personalisation, Clear viewed notifications
Edit: The default setting is unticked btw, so I guess you must have changed it.

Click to collapse
Thank you! That took care of the notification problem.
So I just noticed the back glass panel on my phone wasn't fully glued at the factory. Kind of a major defect for a waterproof phone. Shame, I really like the phone but sending it back for replacement. Hopefully the new one doesn't have the recents problem. Thanks everyone.
I enjoy using Google Now. Most useful thing, if I don't want to go into GN itself, is when it presents me with the current weather on my pulldown notifications (or time to home when out, etc). Obviously it can only show one piece of info in this area. Lately though it only ever shows me a headline from "Stories to read" which is utterly useless in that location. I don't mind the "Stories to read" card in GN proper, I just don't want it to be what GN places onto the notification pulldown. Is there any way to control GN's behavior to correct this?
I agree. I still want the "Stories to read" in Google now, I just don't want the notifications. I can only seem to turn it completely off (No longer in Google Now) or completely on (where I receive notifications). Any one know if I'm missing something?
Hi guys,
I am facing a strange issue since I installed the latest update on my S7. The notifications for S Planner events, that are shown when you pull down the top menu disappear after 1 hour. It used to stay there until I cleared them out manually.
I also tried Business Calendar 2 pro. Same thing happens there.
This is very annoying as I leave the notifications there until I deal with them and if they disappear I just forget that I was supposed to take care of something.
I was trying to find the setting that is controlling this with no luck. I really hope that this is a matter of setting or a bug.
Could someone help me with this please?
Thank you.
Same here. I have installed Google calendar - the same happens.
Any solutions anyone?
same here.
i also tried google calendar, but it does the same-
the reminders disappear after the event's time is up
====================================================
EDITED - Solution
I found a workaround solution: i installed "Events Notifier for Calendar".
One of the app's features is configuring how a reminder stops: manually stopped, when the event starts or when the event ends.
So now i can still see my reminder notifications, even when they disappear from the calendar notification since their time was up.
Bump. Anyone figure this out yet?
Google search (with quotes): "Samsung or Google Have Screwed Up the S Planner App".
You can try Samsung's alternate UI, "Good Lock"
It has two tabs in your notification pull down where you can store notifications you want to save for later.
I thought I would just post this here, it's both my question with my answer as a work around that I found...
My question/ Problem is that my Hangouts Notifications weren't always coming through. Hangouts (and Gmail) is not displayed as an application in my "Notification Center" (in EMUI 4.1). ((I was also trying to turn off the banner display, which I find incredibly annoying. )) It's like it doesn't exist on my phone. Too bad it's a system app, so I can't uninstall and reinstall it. I tried rolling it back and updating it to get it to show up, but no luck. Because it wasn't showing up, I couldn't change it to be a priority notification. (I had already set it to protected in the battery manager with no luck.). My question is: How do I get it to show up in the notification center so I can adjust it?
My work around is to change the notification through the "Apps". I toggled it to be a "Priority Display" and I was able to turn off the banners. Hopefully that takes care of the missing notifications. I'm sure it will take care of the annoying banner.
Has anyone else experienced applications missing from the notification center? For beta testers, is this fixed in the EMUI 5?
My notifications work perfectly fine for Hangouts and Gmail. Like you said, I have the applications setup as being protected. And yes, Hangouts and Gmail may not show up in the notification center, but if you go to Settings>Apps>Hangouts>Notifications, it gives you the option there, including setting as priority. Try that and see if it works for you.
