Honor/Huawei DSU loader - General Questions and Answers

Hi! I recently got a Honor X7a. Does anyone know how to sideload GSI images using DSU? Bootloader unlock is enabled, but no option for DSU loader. I tried DSU sideloader many times and adb but I keep getting a notification saying installation failed. I might have done something wrong using adb. Not sure.
Device: Honor X7a
Android version:12
GSI image used: Stock GSI from Google/Android developers website
Partition style: A/B
It has been a while since I have been modding android devices so it would be nice if you gave me instructions for doing this using ADB, I did do it using instructions and android developers website but I might have done it wrong
Thanks!

Hey! I just got the X7a today, how did you unlock the bootloader?
Have you been able to do other things like rooting and installing a custom recovery?
Thanks in advance!

Tap build number 7 times to get developer options, you should see oem unlock, just tap on that
I am not sure if the options come in all firmware versions(global, chinese, etc)
THIS MAY VOID WARRANTY
I have not been able to do anything else yet as we need it's firmware image to get boot.img for rooting

Oh I see.
Yeah I already had oem unlock enabled but that's as far as I got.... same as you.
You're the only one to even mention the X7a on this forum, so I doubt there's going to be any development for it...
What a shame , damn Huawei and Honor for blocking that possibility

I got the update url for the recent update with security patch and new apps, here it is:
https://update.hihonorcdn.com/TDS/data/bl/files/v152469/f1/full/update_base.zip
I am pretty sure I have the global version
and not so sure if this has the files for magisk root(I am not doing that right now)

Hi!
I got the update url for the new update that came a few days ago, here it is
https://update.hihonorcdn.com/TDS/data/bl/files/v152469/f1/full/update_base.zip
But I doubt it has boot.img, I am downloading it now as its less than half a gigabyte

It's not a full firmware update as mistakenly noted on the post title, my bad!

Okay bro but I don't have unlocked bootloader plus root yet and I tried flashing the June Oreo 488B to flash with OST from here, https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...ia-8-official-firmware-links-updated-t3678487 but the file is password and no one to help with the password yet.
I like the Nokia 8 but I'm not enjoying it yet and no money to unlocked the bootloader yet also. Its frustrating not been able to use the phone well yet.

Unfortunately you can't do much with a locked bootloader.. but since you're curious you can extract the nb0 file with this tool:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/nb0-unpacker-packer-tool-t3699464
You need to have at least 8gb of ram on your computer or else it will throw errors during the extract operation!

Maybe you can create a thread about the .Net error to document it for others to see an to get help too!
Also you should check this other thread:

the script which specially patches SONY KERNEL is/was popular because of the DRM FIX which is/was specific with SONY kernels only
however there is GENERAL script to perform many kernel operation by using ANDROID IMAGE KITCHEN
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2073775
all we need with NOKIA is to
1. unlock bootloader
2. find flasher & download official firmware
3. flash kernel via fastboot ( AIK can switchoff the dmvarity)
4. flash magisk
and DONE
we should have ROOTED NOKIA 8 / 7+ whatever

Yes you right, the drmfix is really a big deal for Sony Xperias and it makes it easier for patching of kernel ing and with Sony providing bootloader unlocking officially.
I really love the Nokia 8 and Dats why I purchased it. I hope things turn around soon cos it's almost a year from date of release.

Huawei wants to stop users from rooting?

A tweet from John Wu a person who created Magisk:
"I am informed that a new Huawei OTA will make installing Magisk unable to boot at all. At this point I might just simply ignore this brand even exists."
First they stopped providing us codes for unlocking bootloader and now we won't be able to root our phones?
Is root necessary for flashing custom ROMs on our device? As I remember I only needed to unlock bootloader to do that on a Samsung phone.

Already in AL varient.Won't boot after magisk installation. As for now we can flash custom roms but I read that Honor is going to remove FRP lock switch, which will make you unable to flash at all.To be honest this brand is nothing but rubbish in terms of Android tweaking etc.

No, you don't need to have root to flash custom. But you have to have access to PC to flash it through fastboot
And i prommised to myself after that, that this was my lasy Huawei device. I paid for device that can be unlocked and rooted and now thay are taking this back from me. I wonder is it legal? Maybe we could give phones back now?

IF huawei wouldn't lock anything else - yes. But on Huawei you flash ROM directly through fastboot (since all custom roms are treble ones), not in recovery.
However i wouldn't wait, because maybe next OTA will lock something else. and you will be forced to use EMUI.

For now, I'm up to B372, and still able to do whatever I want, fyi.
Keep on updating... and supporting the Apple wannabees of the Android world. They learned and stole the ideas they wanted from the community and now will completely lock out the devices, bootloaders, root methods, anti-rollback measures, etc.
Oh, and as for that "spying" part? Just search for "Huawei D.U.B.A.I.". Every single aspect, action, usage and telemetry of your device is logged and sent to Huawei's Big Data Analytics servers, and it's embedded on kernel and can't be disabled. Most i could do on my kernel was disabling it on GPU framework, but the rest remains. If i turn it off on kernel or eliminate it, the mobile comms framework is killed and sim card doesn't even get activated, turning your device into a small tablet at most... so you either accept it or get yourself another phone.
Since using Treble Roms gets rid of the "system" part of EMUI, like their store, services, etc, it's possible that the Analytics part is somewhat suppressed but i can't be sure of that.
My advice is, stop updating EMUI and go Treble. Or just sell your device and get another. Or just resign to the new Huawei's reality and forget this community.

What OS for Mediapad T5?

Hello guys,
I made a big mistake - I bought the Mediapad T5 in the 16GB 2 GB Ram version because I thought this is enough - however, it turns out that their EMUI occupies already 1.6 GB of RAM and therefore, even the keyboard crashes, lots of jerks when playing a video in HD, apps crash it is really a mess;
So the only idea I had (although I am not too familiar with custom ROMS) to replace EMUI by some system which does not occupy too much RAM; So I first was frustrated that the bootloader is naturally locked but I found a solution by downgrading the system and then unlock the bootlader with DC unlocker for around 4$;
Now I think I need to do the following steps:
1. Install TWRP
2. Flash a new OS
3. use TWRP to install a patch called the "low-ram property patcher", see here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...mod-low-ram-property-patcher-android-t3737373
Now in theory it seems easy; TWRP is naturally compatible to my device, right? So I can probably find many explanations how to get it; But then I need to find a new OS compatible for my device which is a problem; I want an OS compatible to my device with not too high RAM consumption; I thought of Lineage 15.1 but only the Mediapad M5, not the Mediapad T5 is supported; So anyone an idea what OS I can choose?
Many thanks

Hi everyone.
I have a Huawei mediapad T5 AGS2-L09. It has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory.
I updated the software and a new option in the developers optons emerged:
"OEM Unlocking" - Allow the bootloader to be unlocked
When I turn it on a dialog box pops up with a warning:
"WARNING: Device protection features will not work on this device if this setting is enabled."
You have the option to CANCEL or ENABLE.
This is it, right?
Does anyone know how to root it from here and hopefully has a custom ROM?
The build number: AGS2-L09 8.0.0.222(OCEC432)
Android security patch: September 5, 2019
This option may or may not help. On Xiaomi devices the bootloader can only be unlocked by Xiaomi. The option you see in do is not made by Lenovo I think, it is an Android option. Please check it and try to install TWRP. Afaik Huawei does not allow unlocking...
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO USE ONLY TWRP THAT IS PROOVEN TO WORK WITH YOUR DEVICE!!!!

I understand that yes but my problem is that I don't have a laptop or PC to run the program so I'm trying to find another way to get the firmware for my Edge 2021, And if I can't do that is there any custom ROM compatible with this device that I could use to patch it with magisk?
So far I have not seen any custom ROMs supporting this device (I think it should come eventually; the last gen has support).
This post includes a download link for an up to date Android 11 ROM. I haven't used it yet though. I'm a little nervous about downloading ROMs from random links, but since I used the guide from the same user (last post you replied to), it feels trustworthy. But use at your own risk.

oh forgive me for forgetting to mention this...
but I'm 99% sure you REQUIRE a PC to flash images onto a phone, since you use the adb debug tool to manipulate the phone while it's in fastboot mode.

1st method: You need a code from Infinix to unlock. and put that code after the command like "fastboot OEM unlock 0x<insert your unlock code>" if you have otherwise contact the service care at this phone number 1800-4190-525 and ask them regarding unlock code of the bootloader/fastboot/ or OEM key.
2nd method: Go to your nearest service center of Carlcare or Infinix/Itel/Tecno/Spice and ask them about these scenarios maybe they will help you to unlock the bootloader/fastboot/ or OEM.
3rd method: Wait for the next firmware update maybe they will make an update that probably can unlock the bootloader/fastboot/ or OEM.
4th method: Wait for the completion of 1 year, they could maybe make an update that probably unlocks the bootloader/fastboot/ or OEM.
5th method: Sell your phone if you can because probably they will never give the privileges to the users after all it's a budget phone.

I did not find information on how to unlock the bootloader for X6817, X6816C, X6816 or X6816D.
How do you know that this is possible?
What model variant do you have?

Predicted as I unlocked many bootloader of different brands.
I have Infinix Hot 12 Play ( X6816C).
Ohh sorry, I thought you replied to me.
So do you have any other ways to bypass/skip or deploy this thing?
Try this method also, this guide isn't guaranteed to work on all Unisoc devices especially if they require a different private ke: https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-32287.html

For the best experience, you need to install Linux based any variant just like I am using Fedora 36. But the famous hacking-based Linux is Kali (Backtrack) Linux which have many tools and hacking application installed by default.

Currently, I am using Fedora 37 from the last 4 months and I am using Linux distributions from the last couple of years approximately 2 years.
Also, I have properly installed the package of adb-tools and 51-android.rules for better connectivity from device to device as well as I have made a helpful setup process at this link https://pastebin.com/Fc8xnaag
So could you help me to find out the proper tools to unlock Infinix Hot 12 Play (Unisoc version) which you have discussed?

No problem dude, by the way, you can use Universal Android Debloater application to debloat your android phone just like your Infinix phone graphically without root or Shizuku. I have a good experience after I debloated my phone.
It's available on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux as well as on other operating systems.

Don't worry brother it will not effect on your warranty related things. I have tested that things early which you are talking about. By the way you can restore your all the applications which you are going to uninstall by UAD. And also if you reset or format your phone then all the applications will come back. It's 100% safe.
