Hey everyone,
I am using LineageOS 20 on the Galaxy A52 4G for a while now and now decided that I would like to root it. Since I managed to install LineageOS previously, the bootloader is unlocked. I watched a few tutorials on how to root, but they were somehow confusing and not tailored to LineageOS. I would be thankful if somebody could quickly summarize the steps to root my phone while keeping LineageOS (optimally even without any data loss but that's negligible). I have the Magisk app installed via F-Droid.
Best regards,
Chris

There is already a guide to root with TWRP.
Would be great if you find way to root with exploit - without TWRP

That guide causes bootloop on F2FS.This method also works on f2fs file system.
I have a problem with this guide though. When I install Magisk through TWRP, when it flashes boot, it gets stuck, screen goes black for a while, then the phone vibrates and shows blue notification LED.... Really don't know what that's about

Is any of our (unfortunately only) few developers handling P2 working/trying to look for a method of rooting without unlocking bootloader?

Try Kingroot.
Do we need to unlock the bootloader and wait for 14 days to apply this root method ?
Please add it to this guide if so.
Thanks.
EDIT :
Your device needs to be unlocked by OEM.
Your device must have TWRP installed.
I didn't see it when I read the post for the first time. So we do have to wait 14 days before flashing TWRP.

Sorry for reply on a months-old thread but, has anyone firgured out how to root and install custom roms without unlocking Bootloader? I got a Chinese unit and not having a Chinese number is huge roadblock for me. :/
Is it necessary to flash both supersu and magisk for rooting device?? Will the device get rooted if i flash only Supersu?
There is not a lot of Updates released by Lenovo for this model, so if it breaks the OTA, just download from here

Without unlocking bootloader you cant do anything
Sent from my Lenovo P2 using XDA Labs
Will this method work with the S244 Nougat build?
I have a P2c72 model hardware which I bought from China, but it came loaded with P2a42 firmware which updated itself to Nougat S244 via OTA updates. I'm not sure how to root it and I'm currently in the 14 waiting period to unlock the bootloader!

Hi peeps,
Root an S7 SM-G930W8 on SM-G930W8_1_20190110160127_itm7x65trh_fac or (Rogers latest Factory Image). Magisk isn't showing up on first boot after installation.
Followed Guides:

Both from scratch and factory fresh. Any ideas why Magisk isn't installing would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How do you know root not installed? Did you check with root verify app?
Magisk remains hidden untill you install magisk manager from play store
make sure OEM unlock is off before flash.

Have you install Magisk Manager manually and it not rooted. OEM Unlock is part of the guides, so yes, that instruction was followed. Strangely, TWRP booted back into after all this can't detect file systems like if it were part of the Format part of the guide.
Oh and Magisk has been removed from the Play Store for a while.
Hello, I have the SM-A127M.
I have been able to do the following:
1.Unlock the Bootloader.
2. Root with Magisk.
But I want to follow this Guide "Installing TWRP and LInageOS" and I have the following questions:
1. Is it possible to install LineageOS on SM-A127M?
2. Is there a version of TWRP for Android 11 on the SM-A127M? Download a version to install with Odin as AP from here: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/a12/
But the only thing it did was go into an infinite loop in Download mode. Lucky that I was able to unbrick it by flashing the full firmware.
3. Is the reason for switching to LineageOS to improve the phone's performance, do those who already have it really feel an improvement in performance or is it the same as using it with Stock Android from Samsung?
Thank you for your answers.
Don't bother bro, nobody responds to the A127M variant, I got the same phone and a few post before yours i wonder to a custom rom and no one reply.

I think so. Have you tried this model using the installation guides on the forum to install TWRP and/or LineageOS? Have they worked for you? Have they failed you? It does not matter if it is for this specific model.
Thanks in advance.

no my mate, I don't do that for fear to brick the device 'cause it's my main phone and the backup phone have a issue with the battery. Thanks for the suggest.
I have the same phone, but i searched for a12s(sm-a127f) because the specs are the same
The physwizz dev have all on his channel. Twrp kernel etc... I've tried the twrp for this phone and it works well.

Twrp is fine but LineageOS no dont you cant call or text at all sometimes the sim isnt recognised even mention it in the sub reddit and everyone screams at you to download the official even though it happens on official builds
Try installing this custom and unofficial twrp for A12 Nacho.
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=330751
[ODIN] If you couldn't install it on AP, try to install it on BL.
(No need to disable vbmeta I guess cuz I installed it on my a127m and my phone just booted normal)
Hey everyone so I have my OnePlus8T all unlocked and ready to be rooted via Magisk. This includes both OEM unlocking turned on and I have successfully gone through the SIM unlock process with T-Mobile.
However....how can I root with Magisk by doing the step of payload dumper without being able to obtain the latest firmware online? I've looked everywhere but looks like T-Mobile keeps it on a tight leash.
Thanks in advance.

Hello!
As you haven't specified what firmware is installed on your phone at the moment, i see several variants:
1. You can find patched boot.img here on xda for your firmware and boot it, after install Magisk app as usual (Magisk -> Magisk Install -> "Direct Install (Recommended)")
2. If you're unable to find patched boot for your firmware version, you can temporary boot twrp recovery, and install magisk apk with it.
Sorry should have indicated my firmware which is the latest:
11.0.16.18.KB09CB
After doing another search I find no links through Google or XDA
It's possible to use TWRP temporarily even without root?

Those instructions apply to the KB2007? I'm not seeing the model discussed anywhere in that thread and don't wanna brick my phone.
If so, when I go through the process to patch the IMG file through Magisk will it wipe the phone like it did when I unlocked the bootloader?

The rooting process isn't device specific. And it doesn't wipe your phone.
Also, if you are going to use TWRP, you could take a backup of your phone (see https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ect-8t-kebab-2022-03-09.4302449/post-85292199) which you could use to restore your system.
But, as always, there are no guarantees and you do this entirely at your own risk.
And, yes, I understand how scary it is to do these things the first time.
Hello everyone! I wanted to consult something else, yesterday I asked how to install lineageOS or any rom and it worked perfectly, now I would like to install magisk to pass the SafetyNet test to use some banking applications that I have, also install some modules that interest me, with lineageOS as I know does this rooting process? Is it the same one that appears in the forum or do I have to download a newer file?
Greetings and thank you very much!
PS: thanks RandomLatinDude for the help yesterday!

Rooting Lineage is pretty simple, download the latest Magisk apk from the Magisk github and rename it to Magisk.zip and flash it in Lineage recovery like you flashed the ROM with adb sideload.

+1 sideload. Easiest way hands down. Patching boot img is way outdated.
