Question AT&T Galaxy s22 Ultra sm-908u..can anything at all be done with an AT&T variant - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

There are so many threads I can't weed out what's possible..
I know rooting isn't possible... My oem switch is disabled and no tricks worked.
Can I load a different firmware? I see there is a guide for sm-908u but doesent specify the att variant

All the U firmware is the same. It will provision to your Sim. At&t sometimes has a different build number from the other carriers. If that is the case then you need to stay with At&t build number to get OTA updates. But if the Ota falls in line with other carriers you can flash with Odin and be ok to recieve Ota from At&t. But if you flash a different build number, which ok, you will have eventually flash the correct firmware that At&t device is on in order to get Ota

Can I directly flash T-Mobile firmware on a AT&T SM S908U?

At&t never post their firmware..

Yes all the firmware is the same. If you have At&t Sim, the firmware will provision to At&t sim

[FIRMWARE] G950U1 Unlocked AT&T QK2

As of this writing (11/29/2017) this is the latest firmware for the G950U1 att unlocked S8 . I'm leaving this here for reference so people can return to it if/when they need it.
Download, extract, remove .md5 file name off the end of each file, flash.
G950U1UEU2AQK2 (This WILL update your bootloader so after this, no going to QH3 or before. Not that you'd have a reason to)

you donnt need to remove the .md5
you will need modded odin though.

You don't need to no, but it speeds up the process. I'm just posting firmware not making a hand holding tutorial. There's enough of those around
Thanks Joe I was tired of returning all the way back to the beginning and getting all those new updates on my unlocked S8

Yeah and on a Mac you do need to, or it freezes Odin completely
If I flash unbranded FW on a carrier specific device, loke tmo or att for example, would it sim unlock the phone?
If I flash tmo FW on an att s8 would it in turn allow me to use the att original device on tmo? I ask these questions because I feel like it would work for both my questions since flashing the FW flashes both boot, kernel and baseband/radio. The which is needed for signal. Just some theories but would love to know the answers.
Btw, I have a F model S8+ and was planning on buying some US branded devices so I was curious.

No, it will not unlock the phone (Note: Verizon phones are factory unlocked and remain that way after a firmware flash)
Yes, you can flash any carriers FW to a US S8 and use it with a different carrier.
So I understand, your saying if I flash att FW to a T-Mobile s8 I can use it on tmobile? If that is the case, to me that's an unlock of sorts tiny book lol. Just wanna make sure is all

You can flash att firmware and use it on TMobile but it will still be locked to TMobile. Just running att firmware.

Just realized the typo.....what I meant was, if I flash ATT on a TMO variant I can use ATT while locked to tmo? I'm very unfimiar with combination fw and always opted for the UK models for alot of reasons. Sorry for the confusion of my op question. I know on the s7 and edge if you flashed the US unlocked firmware it not only removed AOL bloat but it unlocked the device. So that is why I ask.

I had a TMobile S7 edge and flashing unlocked firmware never unlocked the device. That's handled by TMobile servers so...
Flashing unlocked firmware will give you just that. The smoother, bloat free firmware from another device but not the actual sim unlock.
I bought an unlocked device and wanted wifi calling so I flashed the g950usqs1aqf7 att firmware with Odin and it worked to enable wifi calling but I'm unable to get any ota updates and I hate the bloat. Is it possible to get WiFi calling with an unlocked firmware like this one? Also what is the difference between the U and U1 firmware variants?

There are plenty of threads on this, but I don't think anyone was ever successful. I flashed att Oreo to my u1 and got the options, but can't get my company to change my imei back.... My personal phone sim works fine. Quit at that point since it's an Ims registration error. You can try merging the wifi calling apks, but I'm pretty sure it's baked pretty deep in the os. The Verizon guys got some of it working. You can try their threads and see if any of it applies to us.

Thanks. Some threads made it sound possible but inconclusive. I'll just assume it doesn't work.
BTW, can you link to the att oreo fw? And what do u flash that with Odin or comsey?
The thread right below this one entitled Oreo ota has all the details and it needs to be side loaded through adb. Not Odin. But you will need to Odin the 950u base to get off u1

Ok thanks. I need to flash anyways because I'm having terrible battery issues and just debating whether to go to a newer version of 950u or back to U1 and losing WiFi calling. In your opinion is oreo beta worth it
So just to confirm, I have read everything, but I am just a bit confused. If I flashed the unlocked firmware via modified odin on a locked AT&T S8 it will remove a lot of the carrier bloat and give my my wifi hotspot back, but remove wifi calling. Similar to when I flashed the T-Mobile firmware on my AT&T S7 and got rid of a ton of the AT&T bloatware but was able to activate my wifi hotspot but lost wifi calling. I stay locked to AT&T which is fine that is not my purpose for flashing

and can you re-upload the link is dead now
The links don't work. Any chance you've still got the firmware? I've been overseas since october. I have an unlocked AT&T phone that I intend to keep using when I get back, so I want to keep it AT&T FW.
Hi.
I have a G955U Galaxy S8+ AT&T Factory Unlocked on Android 7.0
Baseband Version: G955USQU1AQD9
Android Security Patch Level - April 1, 2017
I no longer live in the US, and currently in the Philippines. Phone works great and the signal is too and all, but I cannot get OTA updates.
Can I just download the firmware file in this thread and flash straight through ODIN, or do I need to follow another guide?

Sim Unlocked T-Mobile branded Galaxy s20+ ported to Verizon, flash Verizon firmware?

Hey there, I've tried to find this everywhere but no luck. S20+ purchased originally from T-Mobile. Ported to Verizon and would love to flash Verizon firmware but no luck so far with ODIN. Software is SM-G986U. Tried flashing Verizon firmware and Odin completed but still see T-Mobile startup screen and it wants to install T-Mobile apps. Tried flashing what I thought was carrier-agnostic software and then Verizon, both complete but still seems T-Mobile branded. Saw another forum post in a similar situation but with different phone/carriers stating that the phone software was locked to the carrier since it was branded to the carrier.
Can someone tell me if this is possible to do this? Not afraid of rooting my phone but haven't done that for years.
When I do a factory reset now and it offers me apps to download via checkboxes, one line reads "Verizon software" but then lists 3 T-Mobile softwares, so it's very slightly hybrid right now it seems.
Or is there another way to do this? Glad to post any info or screenshots. I would think people try to do this all the time but I can't find any useful info anywhere.
Is it true that no matter what I do, with a SIM-unlocked T-mobile branded phone ported to Verizon, that I won't get any OTA updates?
Thanks!
Wait I think I"m getting it from this thread using the patched ODIN ... will update on progress.

Convert N20 Ultra from VZW to T-MO

Hello, I have an unlocked Galaxy Note 20 Ultra from Verizon. I am wondering if it is possible to fully convert this device to work fully with TMobile I was specifically wondering if it's possible to use TMobiles 5G Network on this device. I have flashed the U1 Firmware to the device but it never showed me an Option to choose my carrier or anything like that, and even though the Signal shows 5G whenever I turn a speed test or view the cell info it pops up as LTE
You need to change your device CSC to TMB and flash TMB U firmware, not U1.
You device currently shows VZW/VZW/VZW in your screenshot.
It should read TMB/TMB/TMB, or at least VZW/VZW/TMB.
The SIM card itself will determine what network you have access to.
Be careful though as you have now flashed newer firmware with the new version 2 bootloader.
So you can only use firmware with that bootloader version. No going back.

If you change ur CSC from VZW to TMB, then it will read TMB/TMB/VZW in your screenshot.
You can only change to TMB/TMB/TMB if you root your phone .
For more details, visit https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...bands-and-services-5g-low-band-on-u1.4182293/
Please note, some codes in original post don't work for some, with latest 10.1 Update.
Using Sammobile, I've seen U1 firmware with a T-Mobile CSC. That way you won't have all the T-Mobile apps or boot screen.

Can I flash a firmware with a different CSC code?

I recently bought an unlocked AT&T Samsung S20 ULTRA 5G (SM-G988U), it doesn't get any OTA updates, I found out that I would need an AT&T sim card to do so but I'm not an US resident, so I can't get one.
Since AT&T doesn't publicly publish their firmware files and I want to update my phone, I was wondering if flashing my phone using another firmware with a different CSC code like USC (US cellular), would be risky or is it a safe procedure?
This would be my first time doing this procedure and that's the only part that really got me thinking.
Thanks!
U firmware is identical, no matter which carrier it's from. So if AT&T's latest release ends in UH2 and there is also a UH2 firmware from US Cellular, flashing it would be just like flashing the AT&T firmware, if it were available
Also have same question I have Samsung S20 . SM-G988U , service provider software version SAOMC_SM-G988U_OYN_ATT_RR_0018ATT/ATT/ATT Baseband Version G988USQS2SUE2, I am not able to get new updates as I am not in US, I need suggestion which firmware of android 12 I should update on my phone.

Question I have an unlocked AT&T Galaxy S21+ outside of the US. If I flash a different firmware(USA - USC) with a different CSC, will I be able to receive OTA

Hello, I would like to preface this by saying that I don't actually live in the US. I got this used unlocked AT&T Galaxy S21+ a few months back and an issue I noticed after using it for a while was the fact I was not receiving any OTA updates due to the fact I was not using an AT&T SIM card.
Now I want to switch AT&T to carrier-free firmware where I will be able to get regular OTA updates automatically
My current specs:
Model: SM-G996U
chip: Snapdragon 888
Baseband version : G996USQU1ATLF
CSC : G996UOYN1ATLF
AP/CP : G996USQU1ATLF
Is it suitable for installation?
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g.../SM-G996U/USC/download/G996USQU5CVDB/1640229/
N.B/: May doing this flash will brick or damage my phone?
On SamMobile, underneath my device model, there list of several firmware labeled with different US carriers. As long as the firmware I flash is under the model number I have (SM-G996U), nothing should break, right?
Please suggest me firmware. I want to get rid of carrier barrier and want to get regular updates automatically safely.
Did you try the rom? I have the same problem
OTA is CSC based. You'd have to use Samkey to unlock the CSC to a unlocked US one.
Flash the u1 xaa firmware. Works on my phone in canada
I have a similar issue!
So I received a refurbished S21+, it is unlocked and all but it has AT&T bloatware and I can't update to oneui 5.0... I live in italy but this phone comes from Germany and apparently has a US AT&T firmware (SM-G996U-OYN-ATT). I was following a tutorial with odin to flash to SM-G996B with ITV, which is the italian version with android 12 and oneui 4.1.1 is it safe to do so and then get the android 13 update the standard way? Could I straight up get android 13 and oneui 5 flashing the most recent rom or is it even worse?
The other solution I thought about is that I could just get the U1 XAA, but i have U for now and I don't quite understand if it's completely risk free or not.
