Recomenedations for creating a emulation mini portable - General Questions and Answers

Currently I have two phones Xiaomi phones in my possession, a redmi note 8 Pro and a Mi 9T, both with 128GB of memory. I would like to use one of them as a mini emulation portable and the other as my phone, hopefully emulating PS2 and Gamecube games but I'm happy with N64 games. Since both of them have similar specs I would love to hear you guys opinion, specially since the Note 8 Pro has SD card memory capability.
Also I would like to use a USB C controller like the Backbone One, Razer Kishi V2 or GameSir X2 so you guys know if there are any compatibilities issues with the devices and these controllers or any of them are fine?
Finally since MIUI is bloated AF, for performance should I load a custom ROM? If so what do you recommend? I have done basic debloating in MIUI before with ADB but in my opinion is too buggy and I have installed custom ROMS before without problems so I'm more inclined to install a custom ROM.
Thank you.

Don't have any of the specific hardware you mentioned but it should work. I just wonder if a little USB-hub might useful (more controllers, charging etc)...

Sure, can only help! Did you check if any LOS is available?
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/#xiaomi
There is probably more in XDA's threads... just use the search above, stock ROMs are moot
Just one thing: How would you attach it to a TV/monitor? I tried such gaming setup years ago with a Note 3 and it was running... but I never managed to hook it to a bigger screen... (nowadays I'd prefer a PC with linux proper anytime over those crooked phones)

[Q] Switch between Android, Win Phone 7, and WinMo 6.5 on the same device?

hi guys,
I'd like to know if it possible because I've been using my Xperia x1 for about a year and i think it's time for a change but when I checked all the available phones I got confused a little.
it seems like Windows phone 7 looks great but in a review i saw somewhere it says that it lacks some important features such as:
No Bluetooth file transfers
No USB mass storage mode
No multitasking
No copy/paste
No Flash or Silverlight support in the web browser
No DivX/XviD video support
No internet tethering support
Swapping memory card requires hard reset; cards not readable by computer
and Android has great features but IMO I think WinMo gives more freedom in the terms of using or hacking
and as a WinMo 6.5 user I find it a great OS with all the features needed and if there some feature I want that is not already offered it's available here on XDA-Dev either as a .cab or cooked in a ROM
So the Main Question: if I buy a Sonyericsson (X10 maybe) or a HTC with a 1 GHz Processor will I be able to install any OS of them as a ROM???
Thanx in advance.
The only device capable of running WP7 is the hTC Leo and it has actually working Android and some working on Ubuntu and Maemo as well.
not any other device will be capable to do so
Thanx for reply
So the HD2/Leo is able to handle all 3 OSs
but i have more questions please
how is the HD2 up to date regarding the specs? like the RAM, ROM, and processor
can there be 2 OSs in the same time and to be able to switch between them?
and does android 2.2 froyo work 100% i mean with everything working??
thanx again

I'm intreagued, what about the duplo phone looks great to you?
The basic HD2 specs are up to date on paper (RAM, ROM, processor) and even beat some newer phones but dig deep and you'll see the latest version of the chips are better. Android 2.2 is running perfectly but WP7 is still work in progress.
It's more than a year old but still the best phone EVER.

Any chance for Desire to use WP7 too?
I would be great if it is possible.
I wanna try WP7 too.

[Completed] Need Professional Help/Advice Buying An Android Device

Hi XDA Members,
I am getting desperate! I have lost all faith in myself to choose a good Android device.
Although poor, I have managed to purchase many Android devices to try and suit my needs.
For example:
I got a Galaxy S3, only to find the signal and battery were crap, and I couldn't use the Tincore or sixaxis app to use any controller to play any games properly.
I bought a Doogee Valencia Y100 Pro thinking it was a great deal, only to later learn that it couldn't be rooted, and the unofficial remote play app for the PS4 lagged far worse than the Galaxy S3.
I bought an unbranded Quad Core, 1.5GB Ram tablet, and guess what, it performed FAR worse than my Sony Xperia E1 ever did, and the E1 is crap!
These are just a few of the examples. As you saw, all of these are budget devices.
Guys, I give up, I take off my cap, I'm not even going to try anymore. I am so disappointed with all this and myself, that I will never, again in life, brag, about, my technical knowledge. Ever.
I need your help. Can you please tell me what are the best budget to high price android devices I should get, it can be anything, a tablet, smartphone, smart console, that can also do the following:
Use Tincore Keymapper or the PS sixaxis app well.
Be able to properly use either a PS3/4 or android bluetooth controller.
Root.
Have atleast a 64GB capable micro sd card slot.
4G signal would be nice, but NOT necessary. Phone calls are not even necessary.
Remote play with PS4 either officially, or smoothly through the unofficial apk.
Run PPSSPP, N.O.V.A 3, Modern Combat 5, and Dead Trigger 2 well.
Have USB OTG.
Not necessary, but HDMI or MHL would be nice.
And have atleast 8GB of internal storage (more is preferable).
Please list the devices you think would best fit this fussy description. Also, please list expensive devices if you think they're the best, but I'm not rich, so cheaper ones would be good too.
Also, would a JXD S7800B or GPD Q9, or Archos Gamepad 2 be any good, or are they crap too?
Lastlty, I would be extremely glad if someone had such a device that did all this, and could personaly testify. Opinions woulf be greatly appreciated too, but, I'm just saying.
I shall eagerly wait your replies, and as I'm sure you pros will help me out, thanks in advance.

Can anyone give advice on what stylus they're successfully using with this device? I'm a lefty with less than stellar handwriting, but the stylus seems terrible regardless. I would love to use this as a tablet to take notes and, in a perfect world, turn them into text. Any stylus that is compatible, I'd be willing to try if it gave me a shot at doing that.
OR- Maybe just helping me know what type of digitizer is used in the tablet so I can better shop for a stylus?
Anyone else facing laggy experience in windows 10?? eg when pressing chrome to execute, it takes almost 10 seconds for it to get ready.. Or when double taping an exe, almost 10 seconds to even start executing.. Any ideas??
My Chuwi is Hi10 Pro HQ64G42170302xxx. After flashing rom CM12, camera doesn't work. I flash stock rom again, but this problem isn't resolved.
Hi all, I have the HI 10 pro, can iOS be installed on this tablet maybe instead of Windows or android? Thanks

Hello., I have the HI10 plus, and it says TF card and NOT sd-card.
Can I use only TF micro-cardsmicro or, sd-cards, and, as I read somewhere: NO sdhc micro.... I do not want to buy a 64 or 128GB sdhc and then find out I cannot use it in the Chuwi HI 10 plus...
Thanks
connect to pc
I have rooted several phones and tablets, but this Chuwi is impossible.
It won't even be recognized by PC, I installed all drivers , and enabled usb debugging .
Tried every type of lead imaginable, and nothing!
Any help anyone?
Thank you so much !
You're a life saver lol!

I have been using the Hi10 Pro / HiPen H2 Active Stylus Pen. I bought it when I bought the tablet because they still arguing that Hi 10 Pro is compatible with active stylus but in fact it worked like a ****. In Android I am using INKredible app but stylus work pretty bad and in Windows I download an app specifically for stylus and the stylus still not work properly when I try to write. It only work to swipe down and up and recognizes touching buttons too.
So I think that this tablet don't have real compatibility with an active stylus pen. It quite sad but it's the truth.
Cheers

Link for "Official Firware" does not work anymore. I found some downloads on this link instead:
https://forum.chuwi.com/t/hi10-pro-official-version-chuwi-hi10-pro-windows-android-bios-driver-tutorial-download/909
Before also those link won't work anymore, I downloaded all the things.
I modified my Chuwi Hi10 (HQ64), removed Android and installed Windows 10 only. Everything works but battery doesn't last long and lags badly. I assume if I change os to a custom android rom would eliminate both issues. Can anyone confirm? If so, which custom rom and how? Tha KS in advance.

Is there a way to manipulate an Android Phone with broken touchscreen?

Hello folks,
I have few different Android phones with broken touch screens
one was sit on;
another was liquid damaged, but the rest works;
and the third one is Nexus 4, ha!
I don’t want just to throw them away, and nobody will ever buy them even for parts, those are pretty obsolete.
Can I manipulate the phones somehow?
Say, adb interface.
or a kind of SSH, if that’s possible.
or bluetooth keyboard or trackpad; I have those from Apple, I tried at least keyboard with Android 7 and 8, and it works wonderfully.
or maybe another Android phone.
The phones are on stock firmwares, but I can try to reflash any different, if that’s possible with no touch screen working. Android 2.3, Android 4.4, Android 7.1.2, if that makes a difference.
Of course, I don’t need to use them on my daily basis. Maybe I’ll find them some other ways of serving, since Android has Linux kernel. E.g. make a FTP on one of the phones (it has a lot of free space), or playing with a web server there, or anything else.

Thanks to linux you can.You can do two things
1-buy a mouse and use it full time
2-Install Halium or Ubuntu or linux natively on it and run it like however you want ssh telnet you name it.Works well with an external keyboard and a mouse.Even a Bluetooth mouse.

Can you help me to come to this point? I don't understand how to do that: what should I start with? Halium documentation first?
According to their First steps section:
While 1GB of RAM is sufficient to start the OS, it is recommended to have greater than 2GB to have a good end user experience.

You can see if your device is listed. If it isn't well then go for it.Also you can search "install debian natively on android" and the search hits you with a linux installation natively on android. That I have tried on A Note 3 and worked without touching recovery or other partitions.Halium is just Ljnux with KDE plasma on top(A ****ty one)

Thanks! I'll search through it. But I think it's worth it only with Nexus 4, as it's still kicking in some forms.
Other phones are useless for that, and all I'm looking for them either there's a way of making them useful, or they’d better to go to a trash.

Has anyone bought generic unbranded smartphones available on ebay etc?

1) I'm hoping someone can advise pls! I'm a very light user mostly for wsapp and sometimes maps/gps when walking (no gaming and occasionally watch youtube videos) so was hoping to find something £40-£50.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M20-Pro-...var=564119885073&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649
There are others I'm looking at but they don't mention anything about the processor (sometimes it'll mention the number of cores but no name)? The specs seem way better than even xiaomi phones for the same money, I know there's gonna be no support updates etc. how important is that? Couldn't I just search for a custom ROM, try to upgrade to higher android version etc? Would it be difficult/impossible to find roms for an unbranded phone?
Also I've read that there's a possibility they could just be sneaky re-brands so potentially could be getting a xiaomi etc. phone for less?
2) I'm also considering paying a bit more if unbranded is a no-go. Xiaomi Redmi 7 3GB/32GB around £100 vs Xiaomi Mi Play 4GB/64GB if it's £6 more?
I like the extra ram and storage for only £6 more but the battery seems better on R7 and larger screen

I've seen some advertisements (on wish.com or Ali Express) for devices with no apparent name brand that mention having 10 core processors, dual sim, Android 9 and more. These are all MTK devices which pose difficulties if you want to flash a ROM into them to upgrade or change something. RCA tablets are MTK devices and I, along with many others have spent a lot of time just trying to gain access to such devices. It's been done. However, it has been more than difficult as of yet to find any compatible ROMs and these devices are extremely picky when it comes to using other ROMs. For those of us that are currently still working on it, we have yet to find anything compatible. That's not saying they are bad devices, they are actually pretty good I've had mine (the RCA Maven, Viking and Galileo) for years with little problems.

Theoretically there should be, but many here would rather work on the newest devices most of which are not MTK (Media Tek). They're not built like Samsungs and if you open one up the whole motherboard is the size of today's phones or roughly one quarter the size of the tablet which could be the reason they're so cheap. The only thing I've been able to flash into mine is the original stock firmware, anything else led to bricking. And recovering from a brick is difficult the SP Flash tool is nothing like the Odin3 we use for Samsungs.
