AFAIK a thumbdata4 file ( what by nature is a database - created by the Gallery app in the DCIM folder ) can't be converted to any other file format.

Hello everyone,
I'm an android user, with a Galaxy Nexus running 4.2.1.
I have a QNAP NAS which I can easily access from my android phone via WebDav or Ftp.
Currently, when I select a file (doc, xls), it downloads the file to my phone and then opens it in in it's respective application.
When I edit the file and save it, the changes are only made to the local file which was downloaded to my phone. I then have to upload the file back to the server and overwrite the existing file. Such a pain!
Are there any methods or applications that will open the file directly from the server? Such that edits and saves are done on the server instead of on my phone?
Thanks,
Daxton

try File Expert, I think could help you.
Thanks Ikubik,
Unfortunately File Expert doesn't work.
It connects via FTP and gives me a directory listing.
However, when clicking on a file, it says "Opening Directory..." and then does nothing. It doesn't even appear to download anything either.
This is really chapping my a**. You'd think this would be possible??
I've tried FX file manager - connects via ftp - only opens files as read-only
Solid Explorer - connects via ftp - saves files locally for editing & changes are not made on the server
X-Plore, couldn't establish connection
Kingsoft Office - Has WebDav support which refused to connect
ES File Manger - Same result as Solid Explorer
How to people manage their files on the go?
I want to get away from online cloud services and manage my own data. Apparently, this is more difficult that I thought.
I found an application call FolderSync which keeps your server files synchronized with your android. But, it downloads all of your network files to your phone. I've got 13 gigs of documents = no thanks.
Any other suggestions?
Guys, I'm using an homebrew app to navigate inside my phone but I can't find the folder where the downloaded files go (especially xap files).
Anyone knows where is this specific folder? Also because when I download again a xap file, the system renames it with a suffix (like [1] or [2]) and the space available decreases
Also, do you know the folder where WP stores the pictures just taken and the ones modified with photo apps?
Thanks for the answers
xap files and other browser cache - Windows\Profiles\quest\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\...
fotohub - My Documents\Zune\Content\...
cache of other applications - Applications\Data\(App_GUID)...

I backup my photo from SD to external HDD, I connect my HDD to tablet with OTG cable
in photo folders i have RAW + JPG and it king to get difficult to view only JPG
any file manager allow to create a smart folder that filters single folder ( and subfolder ) contents?
I'm on samsung tab S but samsung file browser doesn't seem to allow this
I also tried FX file manager that is pretty cool, with spit view, but i can't find a way to do that
I guess is not possible with IFTTT to copy all JPG to a new folder

Your device experts are located there.
Good luck!

Simple and easy way on how you can add custom fonts to Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint & Word android app.
Prerequisite:
RAR file archiver app OR any other similar app.
Your custom TrueType font (TTF) file.
OBB data file location:
Excel - Android/obb/com.microsoft.office.excel/*.OBB
PowerPoint - Android/obb/com.microsoft.office.powerpoint/*.OBB
Word - Android/obb/com.microsoft.office.word/*.OBB
Steps:
Open RAR file archiver app.
Copy the .TTF font you prefer.
Locate and open the .OBB file.
Go to the folder: fonts.
Paste your font.
Links:

Notes:
In order to appear your font to the app's UI clear it's data from the settings, then relaunch the app.
The Opaque Binary Blob (OBB) data file can be found either on your device's internal memory OR external memory (SD card).

Did you use RAR file archiver? Cause I tried this before using FX file explorer but it doesn't work. RAR file archiver was my option.

Or maybe while the app is setting up things and downloading the .OBB file something went wrong... Btw here's a new thread for the newer version of Office apps that currently doesn't have these .OBB files.
OP, there's no reason to create new threads for updates. Just edit and update the one and only thread next time. Otherwise you only create confusion and forum clutter.
You've already linked to the new thread, so I'll close this one.

Hey Guys,I'm exporting attendance report from Chinese fingerprint machine in XLS format
I can't find an app that will open that file, microfoft office says can't open file,I tried many other excel apps ,it says bad file ,can't open, other say file is corrupted.
However I can open the file on my laptop in Microsoft excel ,but there is a warning message that I must accept ,before the file will open, something about that file came from unauthorized device.
Can you suggest me what app I can use on my Android phone to view the file ?so I don't have to carry my laptop with me?
Use AndroXLS app - it's free of charge.
AndroXLS can open the file, but all data messed up
