Hello everyone!
I have searched online for a guide on exactly how to get Magisk on a Motorola Moto G41 but have only found very generic sounding step-by-step guides.
Want to know that I am doing it the right way the first time so that I don't end up bricking the phone or doing something stupid. Have always had Samsung before,
but now I went with a Motorola since I got it for a very good price (they had a sale on them).
All I want is standard rooting on the phone using Magisk so that I can use apps that require root priviliges.
I do not NEED custom recovery such as TWRP if that is not availble. Happy as long as I can get Magisk!
If someone would tell me exactly what to do to make this happen.
P.S: I did look for guides on XDA but I found none for the G31/G41 models.
If there is a current guide that would work please point me to it.
Kindest regards.

First of all thank you for your help.
I did find this tutorial before that you linked to but from all I've read you have to unlock the bootloader before following it, and also it felt a bit too easy to just flash it using stock recovery? Usually that is not permitted.
Also from what I understand you have to extract a certain boot image file from the original firmware and patch that using Magisk...
I also found this general tutorial for getting Magisk on Motorola Moto devices right here on XDA which I intend on trying:

Hi all!
I have created a Moto G root solution - well, 2 actually. The first is a 'superboot' and I also have an alternate modified recovery method in case that doesn't work.
The downloads are stickied here - http://www.modaco.com/forum/751-motorola-moto-g/
The approach i've used for the alternate method should also let us do a custom (CWM / TWRP) recovery.
Cheers,

i have already linked both on the FAQ, directly to your original MoDaCo threads, so that most people could access them

Option 1 : then follow this guide [original thread - on MoDaCo]
Option 2 : via a customized recovery [original thread, on MoDaCo]

After you get root, please read Q19
one question though, is the second method to be used only if the first one failed or both are "equivalent" in terms of efficiency and risk taken ? If the second method works for everybody, then it should be the one preferred
edit : this thread should be stickied here too
Many thanks for this. Will there ever be an unlock for the boot loader that doesn't void our warranty?

Tried method A with Linux and Windows, didn't work. The second method worked like a charm as soon as I understood how to navigate the bootloader (note to me: read instructions on screen).
Good work.
recovery method works perfectly with my telcel Moto G, since the superboot method doesn't work.
I did it yesterday. The superboot.img worked good after the second time. The recovery didn't... My moto comes from German amazon.

I rooted my device with the first method - worked.
Now i was finally able to install Xposed to get rid of the carrier label and block Ads with Adaway
Thanks!
Successfully unlocked and rooted my Tesco 16GB using Paul's method 2 recovery type.
German retail version, Linux
Method 1: no go (3 attempts)
Method 2: success
GB retail, worked fine on first attempt using superboot Win7 32bits
Root
Recovery sideload method worked for me when superboot did not.
Had my Moto-G a couple of weeks now and its rooted with dpi set to 240 global and Xposed framework installed with app setting module so i can set other individual apps to other more usable dpi scale.
all in all this is a great device and priced in such a way that its an easy device to try any mod or attempt any hack without worrying too much
Cheers for the tools again Paul.
all we need now is a fully working recovery where we dont have to select the line above to perform the action we want, twrp would be super cool !
==PEACE==
Root with superboot r2, moto g dual sim Brazilian. Works fine.
Thanks
Both are failing for me. Says everything copies right but on boot up nothing. Also cant sideload the SU app.
--Edit--
I was able to get root by using TWRP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2561757 and then flashing the SU app from the first method.
Rebooted opened the SU app and it asked to updated using TWPR
Phone flashed the updated files in TWRP
Rebooted phone with root access!
Tried solution 1 (no custom recovery) with Windows 7
no problems at all
Thanks
****** UPDATE ******
rooted a second Moto G - solution 1 (no custom recovery) - also working like a charm!
thanks for the Guide!
Moto G - German Version
So is there any method to unlock the bootloader without going through Motorola? Then you could unlock the bootloader but relock it if you need to send in your device for warranty service. Otherwise, they'll have your ID on file requesting an unlock code, and I assume would refuse any warranty service (wonder how strict they are about this?).

Unless someone cracks the protection that the ID provides (which may not even be possible if it is in hardware), no. By law in most countries in Europe the voiding your warranty part is a bit tricky, for obvious hardware failures, they would still have to support you in any case. In the US, you are, as usual, screwed..
If you only want to root, MAYBE someone can come up with a privilege escalation exploit that would do that job. Would be easier than trying to crack the bootloader protection, I'd imagine.
Hello there.
Hi, I fixed the problem was that I used the google back up of my previous phone with the motorola migration, I had to delete everything with the recovery mod and then it worked.
I got this problem what should I do. Thank you
Then I tried the other method and comes up device no found
Try running it as administrator

After unlock bootloader will be possible to re-lock in future? Or it will remain lock for always? Thanks
I found there many ways to root moto g.
i want to know which is safest way to root.
I found 1 simple process without installing custom recovery.
is this ok to root with out custom recovery???
plz clear my doubt, requesting those who are already rooted & expreience.\\
also mention which process u use to root ur moto g??
thank u.
To be honest theres no safe way to root a phone. Unlocking bootloader, installing custom recovery or rooting a phone can hard brick your phone. Just make sure you follow the instruction carefully.
Although I do not live in India, and, I do not own an XT1033, I did us this site's instructions to load TWRP (custom recovery), and root my XT1045. I read a lot of posts here on XDA but the linked site seemed to make it easier to understand.
But first you must go to the Motorola Bootloader site and determine if you phone is eligible to be unlocked. If so, you will need to get the unlock key. All the instructions for doing this is on the Motorola site.
I do not know anything about process for not installing the custom recovery. I would recommend that you do install the custom recover.
Good luck!
Hi. I just got a new phone so I no longer have a need for my lg stylo 4 plus so i thought "why not experiment". How can I safely root this phone? I've heard that a lot of rooting tools are spyware and im not really sure what I should do. Thanks for the help in advance!

First, you need to establish whether or not the bootloader is locked on the device, if it is, you can't flash the device in order to root it. If it is locked, your only options are to try all of the one-click universal rooting apps and PC programs and hope that one of them has an exploit that works on your device.
If it is unlocked and you can get a copy of the stock firmware for your specific device model number, you can try extracting the boot.img from your stock firmware then try the Magisk rooting method. Do a search for how to use Magisk to create a patched boot.img and how to use it to root a device, then do some searches to learn how to flash the patched boot.img using your device's compatible flash tool.

Bought a Moto g plus a few years back and unlocked the boot loader, rooted and installed Lineage. I have purchased a Moto stylus 2021 and cant remember a damned thing about how i went about doing any of it. Could you folks point me toward the correct information to go about doing the same for my stylus? I know I can do a search but I figured if I came here to you folks I know i would be pointed in the right direction. Thanks again.

Hey thanks a bunch!
Unfortunately I see no Lineage version has been made for this phone. Does any have a version installed that works or is anyone out there running a different rom for the Moto G Stylus 2021? I really want to degoogle it if possible.
Thanks again everyone.

This phone has no custom ROMs, or even any custom recovery yet that I know of. It is relatively easy to unlock and root this phone, just be extra cautious with any changes you make, because they may not be easily undone.

You can use the Lenovo Rescue and Smart Assistant to fix a lot of stuff that you do to it.
Originally when flashing the magisk patched boot.img it didn't flash to part_a and Part_b, just to boot.img.
So, I had to wipe the whole thing after unlocking the Bootloader using that lenovo tool.
Here's how to undo many of the things you can do to break a lenovo or motorola phone -

You could try any of these guides, just make sure they're set up for a/b partition type.

Not for this phone, that's last years model of the phone, tried it, doesn't boot.
I have rooted many Kali Linux and Kali nethunter approved devices, mostly nexus, virtual and modular(pi) devices.
Id like to root my moto g stylus 2021 minsk if at all possible, see what else I can do with a rooted device with a larger storage space... Maybe try andronix, make a few custom roms, run a remote server etc.
Or is there no point, & just get another tried-and-true rootable phone?
I unlocked the bootloader... Now how do I root?
Do I push a custom ROM in first?
how exactly do I do that?
where do I find the twrp for my model? Or the closest to it that works...
Any help, a how-to, a thread or developer Repo would be appreciated
