Hi, has anyone run into this?
I'm used to play music from my phone to my car (Toyota Auris hybrid) over Bluetooth. Worked good with my LG G4 but with the Mate 9 it miserable fails. BT connects but it won't play anything.
There's loads of forum messages around since nougat came out, it seems to be an android 7.0 problem that seems to be solved in 7.11
Do you guys have successfully streamed in your cars over BT? Please let us know!

I'll test it when mine arrives as I use bluetooth also.
Some other info, it really seems to be widespread and only with cars. Will check if calling actually works, I was so busy with music I forgot to check.
Btw, I have a Pebble time steel and that now has a better and more stable BT connection across a longer distance than with the lg g4.
Update next day:
Car/phone BT connection is fine.
Audio suddenly worked after a few tries but no tags visible. Much in line with what others say. Really erratic behavior.
Same for my BT speaker, perfect connection.
Another update: It played audio only once. After some more digging on other forums it seems that Android 7 is the issue. A lot of cars won't play audio over BT anymore or just handle the stream only now and than. The connection is there, the song is playing on the phone, it streams to the car but there's no sound. Oddly when you receive a phone call there's no prob whatsoever.

My Nexus 6P on RRemix rom rooted with Marshmallow does this with 2017 Audi A4. Only thing that makes it come back is to hit the bluetooth icon in notification tray off and back on, and it syncs back up with sound. Try that? It might be a Huawei bug?
I had a similar issue on my mate 8. Spotify worked but deezer didn't in relation to showing what's playing etc.. it's likely to be nougat 7 as I've got a pixel xl and no issues with 7.1 at all over Bluetooth to my car. Looking at a mate 9 though as I miss the bigger screen

I have had issues with my S7 Edge where everything connects up and all seems normal but when it plays it either delays before sound works right out of car speakers or you have to do a dance of connecting and reconnecting before sounds works properly. Also think I recall similar glitching with my previous car and my previous android phone but maybe it was previous phone (Nexus 6P) and current car (2015 Nissan Murano Platinum). Only regularly ever play podcasts in car from Beyond Pod app, BTW. Occasionally play something off YouTube but don't recall it glitching.

I have a Japanese 2014 Mazda Demio, and my Chinese Mate 9 (MHA-AL00C00B109SP01) connected, played music no problem, over bluetooth. The artist/song name shows up. But it doesn't support browsing the song library like the iPhone or Galaxy S7 did.
I also have issues to connect my mate 9 to my car (Renault Laguna 3 from 2011). I simply do not succeed to connect the phone to the car: when I try to connect, my car gives me a 4 digits pin number to enter into my phone to establish the connection, I try to connect to my car from the mobile, the box to enter the 4 digits opens and closes before I have the time to enter the digits with a connection error message.
I suspect a software bug on the bt connection with pin validation on the mate side. I can connect without issue to a standard Bluetooth speaker.
I think some cars, maybe many, just have suck computer systems. It is why I always laugh at the idea of self driving cars - like these same morons that make these terrible in car computer systems will be worth trusting to drive you around.

I also have issue on Bluetooth with my Renault Megane 2009
I had to choose nomade device to pair my mate and I have some problem on mp3 play-back that suddenly stop where has it continue on music player.
It seems to be better since I install A2DP switcher from playstore but don't know why
So I have had this issue since I got the phone yesterday and just got it working in my 2012 Toyota Tundra.
Settings > Apps > hit the 3 dots > Show system processes > Bluetooth Share > Force stop, clear data. After that try pairing your device, mine has stayed connect with frequent breaks for 5 hours today
No issues with 2 of my vehicles.
I'm having no issues at all. I'm connecting to a Tune2Air bluetooth adapter ('11 A4 doesn't support Bluetooth streaming).
same issue with Pioneer Android Auto unit.
Sometimes it works out of the box, sometimes music plays (as per screen indicators) but no music, sometimes music plays for split second and stops.
disabling/enabling BT helps
no issues when phone is connected over usb with android auto
Same thing with me as well. I have reached out to Huawei but no response. I have a US version
Just got a new Huawei Mate 9 from Optus Australia. It would not connect to my car bluetooth although it would connect to two bluetooth speakers I have. Optus technical support finally resolved the issue by changing the car bluetooth PIN from 1111 to 0000. Looks like a Huawei bug in that it can only connect to devices without a PIN or with a PIN of 0000. Checked my speakers and one has no PIN and the other has 0000 as the PIN. Hopefully Huawei will fix this.
I have a recent Japanese Mazda, as well as a gear s3 or a Huawei watch connected at the same time, and no issues with Bluetooth at all with any recent Huawei firmwares.
My Fabia plays over BT just fine, Android Auto plays it fine too.

I previously reported no issues, but now BT is very problematic. For me, it seems, the issue stems from multiple connections. Before I needed two bluetooth connections in my car: one to the car itself for phone calls, and one to a BT adapter to stream music to the car's audio system. A couple months ago, I added a Huawei watch to the mix, and things went south. Typically I'll put my watch on in the morning and it will connect to the phone no problem. But when I get in my car, it doesn't want to connect: the car itself is not connected at all, the phone reports that it's connected to the BT streaming adapter, but no music plays through it. If I turn off BT on the phone and turn it back on, typically that will fix the streaming, but not the phone call connection. The phone will report that both the streaming adapter and the watch are connected, but not the car. If I click on the car connection, it will then connect. The watch connection in the list with then lose the "connected" status, but strangely, it stays connected.
So, I can't get three devices to say "connected" in the BT device list simultaneously, BUT if I turn BT off then back on when all three devices are available, THEN manually connect the car connection, all three will work, even though only two of them will say "connected".
Hi all,
Mobile: Honor 6
Android Version: 5.1.1
Build: H60-L04C675B570
Issue:
Honor 6 Music play (Poweramp or youtube etc) via bluetooth in Ford Figo (2011) car stops in 3 or 7 secs automatically. The app itself does NOT go to a not responding mode because player's buttons are clickable but nothing happens when we do so. Songs are changing from forward button in mobile player/car's physical button but not playing. My mobile streaming was working in other cars and other phones can be streamed to my car without any issues.
Note: I have been using this all for around 8 months and this is the first time I encountered this problem.
Done the following:
- Unpair from mobile and car.
- Reset bluetooth pref from car and mobile.
- Uninstalled Poweramp and reinstalled.
- Cleared the app chatch via AppstoSD.
- Restarted the phone every time for the above steps.
None of the above worked.
Solution:
Finally noted that I installed "Google Home" recently and I also had a doubt in the app "AllCast". So UNINSTALLED BOTH.
Result:
The Streaming is working flawless after this. I did not do any steps I mentioned above in "Done the following:".
Other Problems:
- My Wi-Fi Hot spot was also getting off automatically after few seconds even when devices were connected. Magically this got solved automatically.
- My Wi-Fi icon from notification was flickering sometimes. [No Solution].
Hi all,
I have a 2008 vehicle in which Bluetooth seems to be a problem depending on which ROM I have installed on the device.
I'm currently on Android 9 OB 7 and Bluetooth connects and stays connected through incoming and outgoing calls. Works flawlessly.
However, with for example Lineage (among others), the Bluetooth pairs, but connection drops soon after or drops after the first call with the car stereo showing "Net Search", meaning the car BT lost service but the phone Bluetooth is still connected. I've tried restarting and resetting network settings but no luck at all. Changing dev options doesn't work either.
I'm thinking it could be a Bluetooth stack difference?
Is there a way to replace the lineage Bluetooth with OOS?
There is no bluetooth.default.so file that I could find
Any help or direction is appreciated.

I am having the same issue with 9.0.2 OOS. So not sure if this us a compatibility issue with more than 1-2 years old vehicles or something else? Glad to hear that OB7 is working fine for you. Hope fix is coming soon. It's simply annoying.
I am having car connection issues as well. I have a 2010 Ford Edge. Just moved from Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra on Orea to my first OP device - OP6 Pie 9.0.2 - I can connect to my car initially but once I turn off my car, I have to go through a series of reconnect steps. I called tech support and we spent about 45 min troubleshooting - of course I was told I was the only one who had complained of this issue - anyway no resolution. The only way I can "reconnect" is to go into my car's system settings and select "connect to BT device" then toggle bluetooth off and on in the phone - sometimes this works with the first go, other times I have to repeat this cycle 5 or 6 times. Simply selecting "previously paired devices" in the phone app doesn't work either.
Really a pain in the tush, because I am usually in a hurry and don't have time to go through all this scenario to get a connection.
On the other hand, I have a bluetooth ear piece (made by Samsung that is like 5 or 6 years old) that reconnects every time I turn it on, no problems.
Car connections too but was not present in omni
I found for stock, performing a network reset (mobile, wifi Bluetooth) then restarting the device fixed the Bluetooth connection issue.
For custom non-stock ROMs, for my issue at least, I found its not a Bluetooth issue at all but rather the mobile network drops and the car Bluetooth cannot reconnect. The same network reset as above does not work but what does work is toggle off the "automatically select network" and manually select the mobile network from the menu that pops up. This keeps the mobile network intact (until the next device reboot, at which point repeat the steps) with the car and all is good.
I only figured it out by accident; hope this helps others.
Hi,
since I got Android 11 on my Pixel 3a, Spotify tends to interrupt the streaming. As long as the screen is on, it works smoothly. If it is off, it goes on smoothly as long as the buffer is still full (I guess), but then the dropouts come quickly, sometimes several seconds long. It's not the Internet, energy saving mode is not on as well. I installed Spotify again, that didn't help. What could I do?

I experienced the same issue on Android 10, when I connected my Pixel to my VW car with bluetooth. In Spotify settings there's a checkbox called 'spotify connect in the background' (or something like this). I selected this and my issues were gone. Maybe this can help you too?

It does not happen when my Bluetooth Headphone is connected. Only when using the internal speakers. Any idea?
I've been experiencing this same issue with my 3a XL too. Ever since the Android 11 update it's skipping audio streaming over bluetooth but I've noticed it with podcasts mainly. It happened while listening using Pocket Cast and Youtube. I also noticed it stopped happening when the screen was active but when the screen went out it happened every 5 or 10 seconds or so. It's really annoying and makes bluetooth playback practically unusable. I hope I can fix this and not have to buy a new phone.

Yeah, I found some more people with this issue. It's definitely not a user mistake or device-specific. I also did not find a fix so far.
I've been having this issue with all audio. I really only listen via bluetooth but has been experienced on spotify, stitcher (podcast app) and audible. Super frustrating
The same is happening on my wife's Android 11 Pixel 3a, only with Amazon Music instead. When she plays music via bluetooth to a speaker, it will be okay for a minute or two, then start skipping. I made to download the playlist offline, so it's not a network connectivity issue. I also placed the phone right next to the speaker, so it's not a bluetooth signal issue.
My guess is that it's something to do with the screen and power-saving or something. IT SUCKS
Similar. Pixel 3a Android 11.
Bluetooth connected to 2 different Bluetooth systems skips terribly, more noticeable with Spotify podcasts, sounds fine in headphones and phone speaker but over Bluetooth listening to podcasts or audiobooks is just intolerable happened with Android 10 as well though to be fair.

Hey everyone, I found a fix that worked for me on some subreddit (credit to /u/Langduscher). If you haven't come across it yet, here it is:
1. Settings
2. Go to apps
3. See all apps
4. Click the 3 dots and show system apps
5. Find Bluetooth
6. Storage & cache
7. Clear storage
That did it for me. Spotify has been working over Bluetooth for half a day now without problems
Edit: as for internal speakers, if you have problems, I don't have a solution for that sadly. Internal speakers working fine for me

Thanks, that sounds like a reasonable solution. We ended up doing a factory reset on my wife's phone, and that solved the issues too. She noticed that after the wipe, the previous bluetooth devices (3 different audio things, plus her Garmin GPS watch) were organized differently. Wiping the bluetooth settings makes perfect sense.

I had the similar problem on my pixel 4a. You just need to sign out and sign in again to fix the problem. If you do not have premium I would recommend you to download modded spotify app for the best results.
very strange thing.
skoda car, i've used for 2 week without any problems the call when connected via BT to the car system.
but now every call i make or receive, both I and the responder/speaker, hear only a big noise.
Tried with another smartphone and no issue, but very strange if i connect the xiaomi to a BT ears no problems at all, if i connect the xiaomi to a BT speaker no problems at all...
I have already tried,:
-delete and reconnect the phone to the car
-reboot the phone
-manage the bt option on the phone, disable AAC and absolute volume
I have to try the xiaomi with another car....
any suggestion?
android auto isn't connected but it's possible that interfere with something else?
Many thanks

Hello. Any updates on the topic?
Let me add my story here too. The thing is- my phone is mi note 10 lite.
Here it goes. So, recently, about a week or 2 ago the Bluetooth audio stopped working completely on my device. I don't understand where to look, and how did it happen. The phone was global official rom, locked bootloader no root etc.
The situation is as follows : the headphones /car audio system can connect and pair. But there's no sound when you press the play button. Moreover, the Bluetooth works, at least I think it works also because I have a huawei watch connected to the phone. And I have notifications everything is fine.
So during these 2 weeks I tried to clear cache/bt and wifi settings (no need to tell you that my headphones connect and play music with no problems with other devices. Tried on my wife's p20 pro.) i tried to make factory reset. No results. Today I even rolled back on android 11 rom from 2021. Offcical rom. Sadly nothing changed. Everything works perfectly, except Bluetooth audio.
Have redmi buds 4 pro and amazfit powerbuds. With my phone they connect but no audio. With huawei p20 pro they connect and work how they should. Also they have no problems with my mi tab 5.
Don't know what to do.
