Note 8 vs S8+

Question for @norbarb and @Venom0642,
(or anyone else who has, or had both....)
Both of you have mentioned having both the S8+ and Note 8. Nearly every review I have read says something like "except for S pen and camera the Note 8 has no advantages". Do you(s) agree with this assessment? Any other observations? I ask, because I'm on the fence about upgrading, and I wouldn't use the S pen, and don't use the camera very much. Thanks, in advance...

My opinion
My wife got a Note 8 the week before my 8+ arrived, both unbranded, unlocked from Samsung. After seeing both, regular daily use for a month...I have to admit, hers seems snappier, more responsive opening apps and navigating around on the phone. She has 7.1.1 and I'm on 8.0 beta 3. Maybe the extra RAM, I don't know for sure. I also thought I would not use the pen enough to pay the premium but, in hindsight the Note would have been a nicer phone.
This is a nonscientific evaluation, she was like "you shoulda got a Note" from day one. If I had to replace my 8+, I know what the choice would be. I did pick the Note for her considering her job, she does take notes on hers. She is a MSN Charge Nurse of the OR and really needed the productivity features of the N8. On my job its just messaging, taking pictures and the basics.

Completely agree, I have the Note 8 and S8+ and AFAIC the pen is the only difference. Don't use the pen that much but since I was a previous Note 7 owner I got the Note 8 for $424.00 plus tax, couldn't pass on that.

Have the S8+ than Note8 ... after 7 days back to S8+. Why ? because changed Note8 for S8+ + 300 euros (insane)
Note8 have S-Pen (didnt use much) little just little better camera , screen is very sharp / brighter then S8+ , overall smooth just a little better (6gb RAM) on Note8 . But battery is way better on S8+ and basically its 90% same phone with insane price difference , ... will see what is goin on with Oreo on both devices or just waith february / march for S9 .

I like my Note 8 more personally...
The extra 2 gb does go a long way to improve the experience and though I don't use the S-pen all the time sometimes it is just too good at replacing my ham-fists when I want to do something precise...
If you have the money to spend I would consider it over the S8+...

I had Note II and I NEVER used that pen. Seems like a great idea but in practice NOBODY uses it. Or if they do, they do just to show off, any task is faster done without that s-pen. So, since the screen is just 0.1" bigger... no real advantage IMHO. Camera should be a little better as well, but who knows. IT all comes to personal preference, whether you like more curved edges (S8+) or less curved phone edges (N8)

The reason the System UI is snappier and apps are opening faster is the new version of Samsung experience. Just flash a Note 8 ported ROM on your S8 and it's as quick as the Note 8. You can instantly feel the difference. The 2 gigs more RAM may keep more apps open in the background but it doesn't really affect the smoothness of the UI. The S8+ also feels a lot more comfortable in your hand. The Note 8 feels huge compared to the S8+.

Good point. But I'm in the US, with only the Snapdragon version. Hence, bootloader is unlockable = no ROMs for us. But thanks for the observations, anyways.

I thought the same thing too about the pen but she is not a show off and does scribble notes on the screen quite a bit, she added. I am experienced with roms coming from past phones but no desire to root this 8+. Beta testing is enough for me. As far as size difference, ya'll are nuts. We both use ugly pelican cases because dropping phones really happens (all glass, really?) and we are constantly picking up each others phone, size and shape are so close. I dont understand all the crying about the finger sensor, I guess my hands are big and its easy to find...i don't see what all that whining is about. Its all about preference. Since I flashed 8.0 v3 the 8+ has really been trouble free, just a couple of apps need updates.
I'm very happy to have NOT gotten Pixel2xl's...no regrets there. I cancelled my orders twice and there is no looking back.

Anyone getting the S10 or S10+?

Anyone considering the S10 or S10+? Why or why not? They're offering a $550 trade in with Pixel 3 XL, so just more curious what people are doing and why.
I'm considering it. Not sure if I can actually pull the trigger on a Samsung device.

Try it out in the store first, I had the s4 after my Galaxy Nexus, that was unlocked and had stock Android flashed, then the s5 which was rooted, but only years after I got rid of it, they got the bootloader unlocked.
The s5 was fast, but it doesn't hold a candle to stock Android.
If you won't miss the stock sounds, UI, apps, root, etc. Then go for it, I consider most of that stuff bloat and a lot of the exclusive features would go unused by me.
My own opinion, but everyone has their own taste.

After the S9+, I'm done with Samsung. I always end up going back to Google devices. I had an S8+, Pixel 2 XL, S9+, and now Pixel 3 XL. Samsung just keeps making it harder and harder to modify MY PHONE, and I think that I should have the right to root, etc., when I pay for the phone outright. I enjoyed my Exynos S9+, dont get me wrong, but the Pixel is so much easier. Here in the US, you need to buy an international Samsung if you want to do anything with as far as Roms go, but then you loose functionality because the phone is not built for use in USA. There are ways to make things work, but it is tedious, and time consuming, then Samsung changes crap each time they update. Also, its to the point now that the Snapdragon processors are out performing the Exynos processors.

Phone looks pretty sick but still not enough to convince me to switch to sammy phone. Its a sammy........

Been with Sammy for so many year. Please no more. Happy with them, even happier with Google.
I still look forward every time to pick up my phone, turn it on and use it,. Loving it. I dont even have a need for Pix 4. I can easily go stay with it for another year. Knowing me id get P4 tho.

I have been very disappointed with my xl 3. I am getting either the s10 or LG v8

What is an S10? Until Google locks the bootloader, I wouldn't be able to tell you what other phones are out there.

I am on Pixel 3 and its been only like 2weeks now. Before this was using a S9+. Best in Pixel 3- rooting and using custom roms with hell lot of features and the bestest camera in the smartphone market now. Cons speaker and display.
Pros of S9+, the best display on a smartphone and speakers tuned by Harmon. Speakers are like the best I have heard ln a smartphone. But worst ever front camera for a flagship, it literally paints everybody in the scene.?

I'm not into locked bootloaders and phones that take 6+ months to update software. My TMo Note 8 is still waiting for official Pie o arrive. I don't care how amazing the hardware is if the software is 1/2 a year or more behind all the time.

It’s very tempting but the updates are really slow with samsung even if it’s the international version.

I am proud of Pixel 3 getting updates first and all. Unfortunately Pie has been buggy since release and I feel like I have been beta testing the phone for them. I see Samsung's slower release as a more mature release after what Google has fixed.

Not sure which bugs you refer to, but my phone has run in top notch condition since day one. Good luck with your Samsung. All you have to do is look at the Note 9 forums to find million of complaints about the software. The only mature thing about their software is the release date because as per the many forums on XDA there is a ton of stuff wrong with it.

I have posted my issues on this forum before. Such problems include:
1) lag even after the most recent update
2) I restart my phone daily and on several occasions, the phone restarts to a dead black screen instead of Android
3) the clock on the status bar is stuck, restarting the phone fixes this
4) "always on display" gets stuck
5) LTE connection is bad. Instead of dropping down to 3g, it stays on "No Data" state.

I've got both the pixel and note 9, I've also had the s8 and s9+ wasn't impressed with them but I am with the note. The screen is amazing, no notch and the pen is a huge plus. I'm leaning on keeping my note for now and getting rid of the pixel. I've got the international one so bootloader is unlocked barely any bloat. Then maybe getting the S10+

Other than a rare lag when first opening the camera, I can honestly say I haven't had any of these issues on my phone. I guess which apps you use has a lot to do with it also, but it sounds to me like you got a bad Apple. Maybe the Note 9 is better for your use, but my Note 8 experience is crap (slow and painfully laggy). Good luck.

I sold my P2XL & bought an S9+. They are good phones but I couldn't wait for the P3XL to come out. I'm happy with my Pixel. Everything I did with the S9+ was tweaking it to be more like a Pixel, both with looks and adding Google apps to use instead of the Samsung apps. I had duplicates of a bunch of apps. I tried to like Bixby but that was hopeless. I use the camera quite a bit, nothing like the Pixel's that I've ever used.

That wasn't very clear. I had a P2XL, sold it and bought an S9+. I used that until the P3XL came out. I sold the Samsung and bought the new Pixel. I take good care of my phone, keep the packaging & accessories in the box. I got a pretty good price for the last few phones I sold on Swappa. It makes it easier than paying big money for a phone every year. I probably got 70% of the cost after 9 or 10 months of use.

From a now-reluctant Samsung Note fan to OP7 converts

I'm sitting on a fence I've been scooting on for the past 2 phone upgrades. Always felt like "OK, this is the time I jump off the Samsung ship" but have never done so. I currently have a Note 9 and in my head, the natural choice would be a Note 10+. That had been my thinking until Sprint released the OP7 Pro 5G. I know all the specs and all the differences between both on paper. I guess maybe I'm trying to get someone to convince me one way or another. I don't think I've seen a screen better than the ones on Samsung flagships and I'm afraid I'd be trading down if I went OP7. I know about the 90hz screen but since I've never seen it on a phone, I could live without it since I wouldn't know what I'm missing out on. At the same time, my s-pen use has dropped dramatically since I first used on on the Note 4 and honestly, I never use it unless I'm cropping a screenshot, which is rare. I live in Dallas. So I'd have access to Sprints 5G, as rudimentary as it is now. Hence the fence sitting. Basically, I'm looking for someone to slap the ish out of me and help me choose -_-

First off, I've read multiple reviews stating that the screen on the 7 Pro is as close to a screen on a Samsung phone as you're gonna get. The 90Hz is pretty badass. Especially when you can have a 60hz and a 90hz screen next to each other, the difference is night and day. Second, Samsung is garbage, trust me, I've had every Galaxy since the S7 Edge (except Notes) up to the S10. The software experience is sublime compared to Samsung's. Granted, OneUI has definitely come a long way from TouchWiz, but it's still laggy, heavy, and bogs down after awhile IMO. The cameras are far from Samsungs quality, but it's a phone camera, and to be honest, I prefer OnePlus's camera over Samsung's because it's not oversaturaded and punchy (OP is more natural). The pop-up camera is awesome, just because of the added screen real estate. The phone screams with an AOSP based ROM, hell, even on OOS. The performance is amazing. I had the S10, and it could barely play a full match of Fortnite without running out of RAM. I'm always using 3.8 out of 7.8gb of RAM at all times even with heavy gaming such as Call of Duty: Mobile, Shadowgun Legends, Asphalt 9, PUBG Mobile, etc. To top it all off, can't go wrong with the Alert Slider. Good luck with the 5G version though, to me, it's worth getting the 7 Pro over the 5G version, especially if you wanna get into rooting/modding. So many people complain about it not having ROM/development support. Plus, 5G is just getting started, I would personally give it a few years before it's something to even write home about. LTE does me fine enough since I have 100mbps at home and I'm not on my phone much at work. If you need to know anything else, let me know.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is not a device you get cause of it's bells & whistles. You'd want to get it cause it gets the job done many $900+ phones already do. I believe The OS is the main feature for OnePlus phones. It may not have stuff stuff OneUI does but OxygenOS is very, very fast. OnePlus makes sure their OS is consistently fast
The 90hz display is out of this world. It is HARD to go back to a 60hz display. Using my girlfriends Galaxy S10+ looks jittery when scrolling & I just don't like it, haha.
Updates, this is where OnePlus shines. 3 years of guaranteed Android version updates. Not quarterly security updates. We're talking full on Android versions. The OnePlus 3/3T is on Android Pie & it came out in 2016! Same year the Galaxy S7 came out & it's stuck on Oreo (officially) forever.
The only thing you'll be missing is Wireless charging & a headphone jack. The camera does a pretty good job, but it could be better.
So, if you're the type of person that wants fast updates, a fluid, consistent, stock-ish Android experience, & 3 years of guaranteed updates. This phone is for you.

Depends if you want no corner cuts, a much better camera, battery knife, and the extra features like reverse wireless charging which is now good at 10 watts vs 5 and etc.
Keep in mind the note 10 has a much brughter and higher quality OLED panel as they do have the best displays in the world 90HZ aside.
In terms of 90HZ, it's still not supported in 99% of apps and 99% of games, and will automatically turn itself off even during scrolling in your browser like chrome, a lot of users don't even notice. It depends if you like it that much, and wether that's a gamble you're looking to take.
The op 7 pro has had a ton of software issues, might be due to R&D but I'm not sure, I think most are fixed by now though.

You're most definitely missing that higher quality camera, and what about expandable storage? No official IP rating? The phone is water resistant I'm aware, but I just don't think it'd fair well on the dust rating[emoji2371]

For a while Chrome got updated and only displayed in 60hz on the 7 Pro. The issue has since been fixed though.

First of all, I appreciate the answers, fellas. I've been in the Samsung ecosystem for so long, its become a crutch when thinking of buying something else. That said, this worries me if accurate. Maybe I've been spoiled by Samsung and all their bells and whistles, but I really was looking forward to the 90hz screen. Though ever since Samsung began locking down all their phones, quick updates like on the OP7 are really appealing. I almost feel like I'll end up flipping a coin

This isnt true, i feel his comment is from someone not owning the device.
I use latest OOS 9.5.11 with twrp, magisk, forced 90hz script and renovate ice magisk mod.
And i can tell you, in every app i use its on 90hz, some games Are locked at 30fps but its not that many but thats not OPs fault, its the games fault. Many games that run 30fps Will run at 60+ when you have the forced 90hz command and the phone feels blazing fast in Chrome, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, using the phone in general!
I had the S9+ before i changed to OP 7 Pro, and this is the best phone ive ever had! And ive had alot og phones! P30 Pro, iPhone X, S9+ and more, and none og these can Even touch the op7 pro in software and speed.
This is my 2cents, if im changing phones again itll be either a pixel 5xl or OP 8 Pro ?

Get the OP7. OOS is so much better than the Samsung interface. And if there is something about the OOS interface you don't like, mod it!
You have so much more choice and so much more freedom if you go for the OP7 Pro.

Exactly this. Loyal Samsung users have this weird... Lack of a better word, hatred for OnePlus & I never understood it.

I own the Note 9 and the OP7 Pro and the Note is sitting on my desk. yes, the Note 9 has a better, brighter screen in the daylight and has AOD and a 'slightly' better camera IMO. I never used my S pen so thats useless feature to me. never used Samsung Pay either. I like the direction One UI is going though. But using the latest OP7 Pro open Beta based on Android 10, I absolutely love the phone. the screen to me just seems better with everything. I'm not talking the 90hz, I'm talking looking at it. Somethign about the OP screen just is sexier to me. Plus the screen is much smoother, not bloated, and better experience to me. And the battery life destroys the Note hands down. Like, seriously.

Just go to your local Sprint or T-Mobile store when you have time, and play with the device. Go through the software, play a few games on it, turn the refresh rate to 60 then 90 a few times, use the cameras, etc. Please don't buy the device just based off our opinions, buy it because of what you think of it. You have no idea how many times I've had buyers remorse due to the hype of a new phone (S10 as a perfect example). Good thing I have Jump on Demand which let's me upgrade 12 times a year or every 30 days, which helps a lot when I pull the trigger too fast. Plus the OnePlus 7 Pro has liquid cooling as well, I don't know if that means anything to you, but to me, that's pretty damn cool seeing how only the S10+ had it and the S10 didn't. Plus $700 VS $900, the only place I'm seeing a $200 difference is very slight screen quality, and lack of camera quality, but then again that's because OnePlus seems to take more natural looking pictures. What made me jump from the S10 to the 7 Pro was because the 7 Pro had basically everything the S10 did, but it was cheaper, and you could mod it.

90hz screen is cool but not a deal breaker going back to different devices. Used my op7 pro for a few weeks and had to use note 9 and lg v30 while finding a dual SIM version.
This is the first OnePlus device I'm going to keep longer than a month. Could never get use to the 1080p display coming from good quality qhd devices. And no this display doesn't come close to Samsung's flagships but it gets the job done.
Pro and a con is that it's stock Android. It's boring but clean and consistently fast. currently playing with Android 10. Nice not waiting forever on the oem's to update.

I came from Samsung's since s2. 1st op I owned is the 7 pro and it's badass. Serving a kernel or rom on this is tremendously easier vs s9 note 9/10 and oc is easier Samsung I had to do a lot to get oc on the S7 s9 .

Been there (Samsung) done that. I have not looked back after getting the OnePlus 7 Pro! Cheers

I've been a Samsung user since the S5. My last Samsung was the S8+. All have been the Exynos variant because it used to beat Snapdragon performance-wise. Then Snapdragon started to beat Exynos but has a locked bootloader. That's what made me switch to OnePlus 7 Pro. I love that it's so easy to unlock bootloader and root. Like it's MY phone and I can do with it whatever I want. I also have the forced 90hz script like people mention here and I haven't seen any apps revert it back to 60hz aside from some games. I get a lot of compliments on the screen and the color (Nebula blue). OOS is fast. The battery life is amazing for me. I'm very happy with the switch. I also really like the stock screen protector it comes with. Still in great shape and it feels great.

I've been on all Samsung's haha and by far this phone hasn't made me look back , mainly cuz I hate the notches and hole punches on screens , only thing I really miss is being able to copy text from pictures with the spen other than that I I'm not going back to Sammy till they get a not hole punch screen , last two phones where note 9 and s10+

A potential replacement phone

Good Morning all,
Hopefully ive placed this question in the right location. I`ve been a avid user of the Google Pixel 3 XL for several years now having moved from the Samsung Note 8. I`ve recently had the opportunity to move over to a Samsung Note 10 + Exynos (Australia) and started the Smart Switch copy process as a test before possibly moving over to the device as a daily driver. Upon completing the copy process and testing Samsungs OneUi for a few hours i found myself installing Nova and finding a user created Pixel Nova backup and trying to make the Note10 looks as identical to the Pixel 3 as i could. Previously on i think it was Oreo on the Note8 i just used the device but this Samsung OneUi i dont like at all. I find that the Ui just isnt what up to my personal liking. In saying that when an alternative launcher like Nova is used i lose access to swipe gestures as part of Android10 which ive become accustomed to on my Pixel3. The reason im on the fence is as part of my job im required a times to be onsite at other locations for work consistently on the phone for my 8 -10 hour shift depending on the work where i have noticed the Pixel3 battery just cant cope with my day to day demands without me need to hook up a battery backup to charge the device.
I guess i just am trying to weigh up the pros and cons. From what ive seen the Note10+ has a huge power gain and battery life and performance than the Pixel3 but then Samsung from past experience take quite a long time to release Os and security updates whereas the pixel3 gets them when they are released.
I love that the pixel doesnt come with any bloatware and also prefer the google messages and phone app over Samsungs as i can hook connect message to my work WebGUI while im at my desk which makes it easier to respond to text`s in my work day, Also the Pixel3 camera is amazing and appears to trump the Note10+ for taking photos which i do a lot of for work and personal. Also the Pixel3 fingerprint reader is so much more faster than the ultrasonic in the Note10.
I`ve become so dependent on the google suite of apps referring to Google Phone,Messages,Photos,Calendar,Gmail,Chrome,Assistant,AOD & Home Screen widget to name a few.
As stupid as i sounds i`m trying to find some justifiable reason to move to the Note10 over the Pixel outside of the battery capacity between the 2 as well as the cameras.
Does anyone have any input on how the Note10+ would benefit me over the Pixel3?

Hi,
I totally understand you, Google delivers, in my opinion, the best User Experience. Despite its devices not being racecars, we still want to buy them for the UI.
Here are all the pros for the Note 10+:
Better CPU, more RAM ---> Smoother experience
More storage, faster (UFS 3.0) ---> Fast file transfer+ no struggles with pics
Quick Charge ---> Phone Charge faster
In display fingerprint ---> Best thing
Gorilla glass 6 (vs 5 for the Pixel)
Plus you get a freaking stylus man!
So the overall experience will most likely be better, smoother and faster (for charging, gaming, taking photos and storing them)
Also, try to see if you can get a OnePlus phone. It has all the pros mentioned above plus it has almost no bloatware (only uninstallable preinstalled apps like FB or Netflix) and the UI is close to stock. You get also a lot of customization.
But to me, the Pixel UI is above OxygenOS (OnePlus UI)

Well i took the plunge for a month and have moved back to the Pixel 3 XL. The Note 10+ itself is aesthetically pleasing to hold and touch. But there`s just something about the Samsung experience that irks me the wrong way. The biggest issue i had was the under screen fingerprint reader, It was IMO the worst experience, 9 out 10 times not working at all requiring me to use my pin code to unlock the phone. I recorded my fingerprints in all different angles to cover everything but more often that not it just didnt work. Samsung Dex was ok but certainly no where near a usable point. Running Windows 10 i can tie the My Phone app straight into the Pixel/Samsung and it worked well, even with the latest update. I never once used the stylus for what it could be used for, only a few times using it for the wireless photo taking. The camera on the Samsung is ok but no where near where the Pixel camera. The Google default apps are for me a lot more user friendly than the Samsung one. Samsung's OneUI although aesthetically pleasing didn't cut it for me, oversized icons and restrictions in places i thought wouldn't be, it felt like i was using an Apple device at times. I needed to use OneUI due to gestures only working with OneUi and not an alternative launcher like Nova. Having the now playing on the lock screen is something i always used, As someone who loves music hearing something and then just looking at the Pixel and it showing what was playing was always a plus. The AOD on the Pixel was better with calendar entries showing up on AOD. Turning the Pixel over the mute was sorely missed especially when i could be working and avoiding phone distractions and just turn the phone over and not be annoyed. There`s so many more things i could report on and im not bagging out the Note10+. Just come to the conclusion that having a Note8 then Pixel 3 XL and moving to the Note10+ that there`s just too many things on the Pixel that are sorely missed and i had to revert.
The biggest issue on the Pixel is the abysmal battery and how long it lasts and it`s something i`ll just have to deal with.

I'm sorry that you bought something that didn't pleased you. Some people aren't bothered at all by all the restrictions and all the stuff you said above, but IMO you made the right decision. Samsung are all about making you buy, from the in-OS ads to the short support (which has been a bit lengthened recently). But I think once you get a taste of what Google has to offer with its own OS, you can't get back to the previous experience and don't feel a downgrade.
It's all specs and power now, but I think that if UI, support and features aren't here, your phone won't be good. If I knew that the Pixel 5 would have a battery this large (rumored at 4000 mhA), I would've waited before buying my OP8.
I hope you still enjoy your Pixel 3 tho, and I hope it will last

Curious which device users are going to run to. If you're happy with the S22 Ultra's performance you're fortunate since there's not much out there that's comparable. With that being shared it's apparent a number of users are moving on. Besides the iPhone which smartphone compares most favorably to the S22 Ultra? I'm inquiring since I've skipped the S22 and will be looking to replace my S21 Ultra soon.

And why exactly would you replace a perfectly fine working S21 Ultra? Just for the sake of having a new phone? I love my S22 Ultra because it's Snap Dragon and no Issues other than video recording jerkiness but fixed that by turning off image stabilization. I haven't even got that 1.5 gig April Update yet. But if I did have a problem and was looking for another phone I would be trying to find an S21 Ultra.

Only the iPhone 13 pro max is comparable in the high spec big storage category.
And I'm not going down that iOS rabbit hole ever again.

The S21 Ultra is a good device, better than the S22 Ultra IMHO but to answer your question I typically upgrade every year. I also use an S10+ and when I switch back to the S21 Ultra it feels so bulky and heavy, ready for a change. As far as the 1.5 Gb update goes, I might pass on it. A number of users with the S22 and the S21 have experienced new issues after updating. I'm on Android 11 OneUI 3.1 and it works perfect, won't risk having the device corrupted by Android 12.

I do that most years for a bit. Get tempted by marketing promises, get excited when I manage to order the model and color i want, then get disappointed when I use it to find it's basically EXACTLY the same experience as the model I used 5 years ago, and go back to android... so I can complain about the battery life!

I´m was waiting for xiaomi 12ultra mix5, but they take long to comme, maybi not now....

Keeping my Zfold3. It has issues like poor battery life and I have doubts about the durability of the inner display but there's nothing really else on the market I like at the moment and it's performance is way ahead of the s22u Exynos. May wait for the Zf4.

i think that Oppo Find X5 Pro is a very intriguing device

iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple I loathe to admit has been on a tear lately hardware wise improving its flagship and with the upcoming 14 Pro Max finally getting rid of that hideous notch and possibly a slightly bigger battery it'll be hard to beat. The days have gone when android manufacturers used to be hardware kings and now have seceded everything to Apple while trying to be Apple ironically.

I was in an Apple store last weekend (one of my kids wanted to check it out), and so I played with an iPhone 13 pro max. Not gonna lie, I didn't hate it. It now has sort of an app drawer if you swipe to the left a couple pages. I didn't try to move the apps that were on the home screens, but I *think* you can just use that. The left from home screen is not bad, has weather, news, stuff like that. However, the settings screens are pretty much still the same as they were when I had the 3Gs though (seriously...). Also, barely any widgets, and almost zero customization. I won't buy one, probably ever, but it's come a long way since I last had one. Not quite as boring.
If Android and their phones could just figure out how to be super responsive like iPhones, I would like them sooo much better. Battery life too. Apple is killing it with those two things.

For now I'm still unsure wether I'll keep my S22 Ultra with all the problems the phone's got. It got better with updates, so I'll decide in a few updates if I keep it or not, to see if all the problems are fixed or not.
I kept my iPhone 12 Pro Max just in case, so I would go back to it.
For me the choice is simple: Note experience or iPhone experience, but I do prefer the Note experience thanks to the S Pen.

I think users can relate to the review of the S22 Ultra by arsTechnica. It gets to the meat of issues with the device which most reviewers gloss over. The reviewer makes an honest assessment of Samsung's approach to it's skin and software, a no holds look at the problems a number of users are currently experiencing.

I went back to my Fold 3 after returning my 22 ultra still have an s21 ultra and Note 20 ultra as well but hard to stay away from the fold lol

Interesting review but it is hard to take it seriously when they say the Pixel 6 pro is the better phone, it just isn’t.

Indeed. For a phone that Google made to try to jump into the mainstream flagship market, they sure screwed this one up. The fpr on the one I had never worked worth a sh$t. That plus constant network dropouts made that phone an epic fail IMO. I traded it for the ultra as soon as it was announced. I think using a two year old modem, as well as a garbage fpr was a total cheap out move. Also, did I mention the phone is ugly as hell?

I am not changing mine since Ive had 0 issues with it and April's update improved battery quite a bit. However the only phone I would consider replacing it with would be the Oppo X5 Pro.

iOS is out of the question because I can't tolerate iOS. The other Chinese phones are out as they have minimal presence in Canada. Google is a no go because as mentioned it's more of an experimental device at this point.
Thankfully my S22U has been working flawlessly. If this were not the case I guess I'd dig my faithful old LG G7 out of the drawer and use it until something better came along.
