Bump-- Any answers to this? The link above is a bunch of neanderthals. I just ordered the 8T but may have to return it if call recording doesn't work. Does it work after 8T root?
Thx

It depends on your model and where you are. If you don't have it enabled, like the U.S. unlocked KB2005 variants, you cannot enable it through the system right now. No matter what model you have, there will be a way once we get root. I am sure there are regular apps you can get as well. I use TotalRecall which lets you choose the method for recording, including root.

LOL, that's very very true. But we have to live on with this situation. On rooted phones you can get most call recorders to work, after reading their help files (skvalex Call Recorder, Boldbeast, I have both paid versions).
Disadvantage is, with root, secured apps mostly do not work any more, issues with Widevine Level 1 and SafetyNet will arise, and there is no certified Play Store for GPay any more. In addition, Android 11 forces more security than previous versions. You may need to go back to older phones (i.e. my Moto Z3 Play) to get what you want. For my part, fixing all these issues (with Magisk, the like) is too much work, which likely has to be repeated after monthly security updates.
I'm on KB2003 (EU) and we don't even have half of the OnePlus apps. Messaging and Phone for example, have been changed to Google's. Not to mention there's some other preinstalled Google bloat, although you can easily uninstall them as a lot of them aren't system apps. We also still have netflix added as bloat too? I'm not sure what's happening anymore

On Pixel 3a XL I was able to root Android 11 and skvalex Call Recorder works on that. But I am worried that it will not do the trick on the 8T. Now I'm just waiting to push the order button - but I NEED call recording. It's the most crucial feature of a phone I purchase.
I'm not rooted on OP8T and I used jOnePlus Tools and enabled it using shell commands then enabled call recording and it works with native phone app....if I had it rooted I'd rather have truephone+skvalex but that's my preference

Which 8T? KB2003, OOS 11.0.1.2.KB05BA and com.google.android 55.1.335513515 dialer?
Until now, I only installed skvalex CR and gave it adb permissions and device helper access as requested. Did not test this, though.

Sorry, I don't see anything useful in your 7 seconds imgur video. But thanks for your efforts, maybe it is helpful for other users with your 8T version.
EU variant (KB2003) has no native OP dialer, it's Google's com.google.android. That said, jOnePlus Tools show a switch with enabled call recorder and call recorder service, but nothing is recorded because there is no call recorder in EU firmware or Google Dialer, which can be enabled.

Does not open after installation and setup (rights, telephone standard app), (OnePlus Phone 4.9.5 August 7, 2020). I think it is not possible without root on Android 11 and several additional "Phone and Messaging Storage" and "Phone Services" apk, at least in Europe.

If you have root, you can try Google dialer mod to force enable call recording.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a working call recording app for this phone? Preferably one that works with WiFi Calling.
CubeACR works for me
I just tried CubeACR with all the options. The default Voice Recognition (Software) I can only hear my voice and not the other end. The other options fared the same if not worse as I couldn't even hear my voice in some of the options.
I tried BoldBeast Call Recoder as well with the same issue.

Can confirm BoldBeast isn't getting both sides of the conversation, only my spoken part, with the T-Mobile variant.
I haven't tried messing around with the different options in Boldbeast yet though, just the default setting. I recall there was a way to submit info to the dev and they could make some suggestions.

Came here looking for a free ad free gsf free automatic two way call recorder app for my Android 11 A325G (SM-A326U) after "Call Recorder" (com.call.recorder.auto.call.record) kept crashing.
A search on Google Play shows no other GSF independent call recorder available.
F-Droid shows two possible free ad free call recorders.
Simple call recorder (com.github.axet.callrecorder)
Call recorder for Android (com.callrecorder.android)
On Google play there are only two other free ad free automatic call recorders but both of them are GSF dependent (and both seem to be from the same developer, MMDevs).
All Call Recorder 2021 (com.call.recording.callrecord)
Automatic call recorder 2021 (com.mmdevs.callrecorder)
However there are many other automatic call recorders listed on Google Play which have ads but the question is which work for two way automatic recording with the least amount of intrusiveness on the Galaxy A32 5G (Android 11).
I saw that for some people these (with ads or purchases) worked on the Galaxy A32 5G.
Call Recorder - Cube ACR (com.catalinagroup.callrecorder)
Boldbeast Call Recorder - No Ads (com.boldbeast.recorder)
And a search reveals ACR Unchained seems well respected for Android overall (the full app is not available on Google Play or on F-Droid as far as I know).
Another Call Recorder ACR (com.nll.acr)
One by one I'll test them each out, but of those candidates do we know yet which seems to work best for most people on the A32 5G (SM-A326U)?
To clarify, BoldBeast was tried by 2 of us on this thread, it did NOT work for either of us. (But I haven't tried tweaking the settings or contacting the dev yet).

I looked it up what that is so I put it here so the rest of the people reading this can start there.
LSPosed Xposed Framework [8.0-12.0]. Simple Magisk Module, EdXposed Alternative.
Is that a good starting point to figure out what your sentence is trying to tell us?
I think Magisk requires root though.

Scratch that , only managed to record outgoing voice not incoming.
I don't have samsung device. But I run an aosp custom rom. Everyone who has one side only issue, they have to systemize the recorder app. Whatever recorder app you systemize, it'll then work without any issues. But root is needed to systemize.
Axet Call Recorder, when installed through Magisk or systemized via terminal systemizer module, works without any issues.
Systemized Cube ACR works on "Voice Call" source. For VoIP, use "Voice Recognition" source.
Bad news for 3rd-party automatic call recording apps.
As of tomorrow, May 11, 2022, Google apparently is nixing them.
Google will kill call recording apps on Android for good starting May 11
Google is removing all call recording apps on May 11
Google will block all third-party call recording apps on Play Store from May 11
Google is killing call recording apps on Android phones from May 11
Google Will Kill Call Recording Android Apps Starting May 11
From May 11, call recording may not be possible through third-party apps on Android phones
Android call recording apps won’t work on your Galaxy phone after May 11
You May Not Be Able To Record Phone Calls On Android Smartphones From May 11
etc.
I have no idea what this means in terms of HOW Google is doing it.
However... I suggest you get those ACR automatic call recording apps now.
I would suggest you get these 3rd party call recording apps now, while you still can.

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at as there isn't much information in your question, but I will try to help where I can.
If I assume you simply want to REPLACE the default phone dialer, I have a Samsung where I NEVER use the default Google apps and it works just fine WITHOUT those Google apps (I've disabled most of them).
As for the phone app, it gets confusing what people "mean" as things changed since Android 10 in terms of separation of the parts that people often mix together.
Specifically, in later Androids, AFAIK, there is a "Dialer" and a separate "Contacts" app (yet which often are combined) and there is even the concept that the "SMS/MMS" messaging app also can often dial out and use the contacts - but there is no longer a default "Dialer" as of Android 10 (AFAIK).
Me?
I don't keep a contacts file (for privacy reasons) in the default sqlite location (because Google/Facebook/Microsoft/etc. motherships upload that database, that's why!) so I use only {dialer,contacts,sms/mms} apps which can work both with and WITHOUT a default contacts sqlite database).
Note that Simple Mobile Tools has a lot of related privacy-aware free useful apps which don't necessarily need the default sqlite contacts database, which is a boon to your privacy (if you care about such things).
Here is a screenshot of what I use in my dock for phone apps on my Samsung, none of which are the default apps by Samsung or Google.
Thank you for your reply. I am actually looking for a way to record phone calls on phone. Phone by Google is the app I was referring to, as you may know it has a call recorder and I was wondering if anyone were able to enable it on their A32 5G.
There's a lot of information about call recording for this phone in this Galaxy A32 5G thread over here...
Anyone know a working call recorder app for this phone?
There's also a generic thread about call recording issues after May 11th when Google made their most recent changes over here...
Is there any way to get 3rd-party call recording (ACR) apps working after tomorrow, May 11th, 2022?
If you're rooted, you probably have more options though.
**Update** Thank you all for your comments so far. I have now tried Call Recorder by Skvalex and recording "works" but on my unrooted device it's clearly using the microphone to record both sides. Quality is ok, here is a link to my sample recording https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-nbKtZHSsf5g_qlFLP7wYzcm-nwwwRZd/view?usp=drivesdk
I would prefer inline recording so I'm now considering rooting **/update**
I'm looking to purchase the pixel 7 pro but call recording is important to me. Please no debates over the legality/morals of call recording.
Can anyone confirm if call recording is possible and how it is done? Ideally I want line recording from both sides.
I'm currently using a Xiaomi Mi Note 10 with Call Recorder by Skvalex and it works fine. I like the software by Skvalex and have been using it for years (about 7 years I think) so would like to continue using it on my new phone if possible. Although any software that works would be fine
I would rather not root the phone as banking apps and warranty are important to me.
Thanks in advance,
Oliver
it works via Cubeacr without root.
But my phone is rooted - I use skvalex.
The warranty is not affected and bank applications and google pay work fine after root.
I also use skvalex with root. All banking apps work and it passes safety net...

Wish it had a manual mode, since i need to record on demand which is only 15% of my calls. This module records all calls which introduces an extra step of deleting the unwanted recordings ever so often but hey, it works better than using googles way which is really primitive. BCR also connects to your contacts helping you save the recordings with the contact name which is better than the guessing game.
Im pleased with it.

BCR records independently and won't show a record button. It will record all phone calls which then you can access in the /mnt/user/0/self/primary/Android/data/com.chiller3.bcr/files

Installed this mod and after that it keeps getting stuck probably because of overwrite of files. Had BCR already installed and still proceeded to install the Google dialer mod. Restarted the phone about 7-8 times and still getting stuck so roves both the
The phone simply restarts on its own every 2 minutes. Deleted all the latest apps installed, also uninstalled and reinstalled the phone dialer app and installed the public version on my rooter pixel 7pro. Need some solution as this has happened due to overwriting of files.
Hmm, the mod works just fine here. Not sure what you mean by overwritten files. Did you do any changes systemlessly (via Magisk) or did you really change files in the system partitions ?
Its difficult to judge the best approach on how to fix this without exact knowledge what you did and how the phone behaves. You could try reflashing the currently installed ROM - just take care you disable any options that either wipe data or relock the bootloader, depending on the way you install the ROM. Such a dirty flash should leave all your data intact, but to be safe I would make sure everything important is backed up somewhere
This behavior is happening on my new phone and the data still exists on the old phone so am safe for now. Just simply Magisk and i had BCR file and on top of that i installed the google dialer mod. I guess there wld have been compatibility issues. Stuck.

Without root, you'll have different types of problems. With changes done by Google, you have to root your phone to enable call recording that works properly. On Samsung devices, you may try changing CSC to a supported region like India/ Indonesia and others where call recording is supported.

After taking a glance at that app (well, two, since APH is a companion app), I think what it ends up doing is you install the app ACR Phone app to replace your default phone app, then the APH is a companion app that allows recording on the ACR Phone app -- since it is a separate independent app, it theoretically can work without root.
I imagine it's as if Google Meet/Duo/Voice or Facebook Messenger or Whatsapp (I'm not certain, I don't know any phone calling apps) had a companion app that records the conversations that are have'd on them and you used them as a default phone app instead of the stock one.
I've never replaced the default phone app, so I don't know how viable this is on Android OS, but I imagine it could, again theoretically, work without root....

The companion app is required because the Google Play Store version of the app had to remove the Accessibility permission to comply with Play Store guidelines. Previous versions of the same app that used Accessibility permissions (before May 2022) did not require this companion app.
Call recording works and both sides are audible when I tested, but you'll hear a lot of noise.
Don't use closed source software in a trusted manner!
The proper call recorder to use is called BCR, which is open source and installs as a Magisk module. Note that while it does depend on Magisk, it uses the "systemless" process to gain the privileges needed to record calls, and NOT root.

Can we blindly trust a software just because it is 'open source'?

I am confused. You say "NOT root" yet you say it requires Magisk and the link clearly talks about rooted phones.

'Root' is just a user with administrative privileges. Systemless is when you don't make any changes to the System partition during the rooting process.
In simple terms, if your region doesn't allow call recording, the only way for you to enable it on official ROMs made for your region is by rooting the device, which can be a systemless process.
Without root (irrespective of whether it is systemless or not), you cannot have proper call recording functionality.

Does it work on non-rooted phones properly? Clear audio of both sides with no background noise?

Even ACR works with the helper app, but there is a lot of background noise. My questions:
1. Are both sides recorded?
2. Do you get clear recording without any background noise?
Ye I'd say it's clear
