Question Galaxy S22 Ultra charging. - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Anyone's experiencing charging issues where the phones charges and stops rapidly?

Nope. Are you using Samsung or 3rd party charger?

well, no, even using a 25 W charger from a Xiaomi device!

Samsung has programed the phone to charge faster when battery is low. As charge increases, charge speed decreases.
Maybe this is what you're experiencing.

Have you activated the charge limit?

Question Wireless charging heat

Hello everyone, i just bought a new wireless charger form Baseus and charge my s21+ with fast wireless charging on, and while charging i notice that the phone battery get as hot as 40 degree Celsius. SO i try turn off the fast wireless charging option and let the phone cool off to ambient temp (around 32-34 degree) and charge again, but it still reaches 40 degree.
I want to ask is this normal, and please share your temperature while using wireless charging and the brand of charger you use.

Well, phones getting hot while charging is usually normal.
Sometimes it happens when the phone charges for too long and at a higher voltage and amps.

Appreciate your opinion. But i want to ask if 40 degree while fast charging is normal or not. On cable, phone is only around 37 degree

Yeah, fast charging is faster, and wireless charging sometimes in some phones is hitter than cable. Depends on the manufacturer of the phone and the model and the wireless charger itself.

Hmm maybe it would be online, I don't have the particular phone and a thermal imager so i wouldn't know exactly.
Hi guys, hope it's ok I ask a similar question here.
I do to have S21 5G (exynos) and samsung 15w wireless charger with 25w brick.
The issues I'm having is with charging speeds. If I use fast charging, the current is around 2700mA. But as soon as the temperature hits around 35-36 degrees charging current starts oscillating between 300-600-900 mA. It takes around 5 hours to fully charge the phone. It's faster if I turn off fast charging. It takes around 3 hours.
Room temp is around 26 c.
I don't remember having similar issues with S20.

Fast charging increases the wattage of the charge so your phone overheats.
If it overheats too much the phone limites the charge rate to protect the components.
It seems like a flaw in the fast charging or smth like that
keep fast charging off if it overheats your phone, and maybe try keeping it in a cooler environment

S22 Ultra 45W vs S22 Ultra 25W vs S21 Ultra 25W charging test
wouldve expected it to charge much faster, especially when you consider the smaller battery.
Totally expected, 45W works just at lower temperatures and under 50% charge as it was back in the Note 10+ days. It's useful only when you are topping up on the go, for 0-100% it's almost the same

Well it is improved, it was downgraded 2 years ago to be fair and now is back to that state. It charges faster from 0% to 50% which is exactly how it used to work before. If you expected something different your expectations were wrong, don't know what to say. Even devices with very fast charge charge faster for the first half then slow down considerably. Samsung has always had a more conservative approach on charging after the Note 7 debacle, that's why I expected it to be managed like it was before.

I've traded my Oneplus 7 pro. A 3 year old phone and It still charges much faster than S22 Ultra. Considering to I'm paying for a flagship phone which is over £1000 and it's charging technology called "Super fast" charging. Yeah I'm a bit disappointed.

The N10+ with the 25w brick will fast charge from 5-70% at the rate of 2%@min on its 4300mAh battery. Between 70-82% it may ramp down slightly, at 90% fast charging disengages.
This is dependent on battery start charging temperature, if too low or high fast charging will not engage, and battery condition. A 20% charge in 10 minutes isn't bad...
Fast charging is limited by heat buildup in the battery caused by internal resistance. The Li cell charging process is actually an endothermic reaction but is outweighed by the internal resistance generated heat.
I can see it being an issue for those that prioritize fast charging over battery longevity. I charge my device overnight and use a Chargie to regulate the charge to a maximum of 80% and limited to 8 watts. I'm not a power user and this method may not work for everyone.
Looks like they're using an older 45 watter. The new ones are the real 45 watts.

I heard that was the case. The old 45W charger throttled, making it act like a 25W charger. The new one has PPS and is PD 3.0?

The old 45 Watt averaged about 28 watts of power iirc. The new one will supposedly give the full advertised wattage. I'm just shocked sammobile out of all sites did not know this...

That is shocking. Do you think the new charger will output less heat to the S22 Ultra because of better efficiency thanks to PPS?

I doubt it. QC boosts the charge wattage by increasing the voltage; more volts less amps means less parasitic waste heat.
What's left to improve on the charging protocol side? They to improve the battery itself now for any meaningful performance improvements.
These manufacturers push the hype, the reviewers do too, then long after the release the truth finally comes out.
If you can wait a few months for the dust to settle you'll get a better idea of what to expect.
There is a new 45w charger, model EP-T4510XBEGGB. This one seems to work fine and not overheat.

Curious as to what your thoughts are regarding the Chargie since Samsung has now added the same charge up to 80% feature in Android 12 under device care. Is it now redundant?

Question How do you charge your phone?

Question!
How do you charge your phone? What type of charging do you have selected?
-fast charging
-super fast charging.
I use a 25W charger and I have super fast chargers selected. I try to charge the phone in the range from 30% to 85%. I also have the battery protection option selected
I always use wireless charging, and I place it on the charger when I go to bed, and pick it up when I get up, as I have for the previous S20 Ultra, and before that the S10+, and the S5 before that. I have never had a battery problem, don't baby it, use it!

I do the same as you. Have wireless charger on my bedside table and one in my car. That's all I use and don't worry about battery dying on me.
I bought an Anker 45W charger, and I have a question.
On my first days, should I use it or use a normal charger? Use health protection or not?
After those few days, I have a meross Smart Power strip , WIFI, that I can schedule each plug individually, even the USB ports. I usually put 2 hours charging for my actual phone and 1 hour for my Galaxy Watch 4. Is this ok? Can I keep the 2 hours for the s22 ultra or reduce the time, since I'll use a 45w?
Thanks for the advice!
I plug it into a 25 watt charger at night. Unplug it when I wake up. Charge as needed throughout the day.
Currently on my 3 year old Note 9, awaiting delivery of my S22U, as with previous phones, I disable fast charging, if the phone has the feature, as it generally isn't good for battery life expectancy. I always plan to keep my phone longer than the one or two years many people do, so battery health/life is important to me. I have a timer-socket adapter, like this, I use for through-the-night charging, whereby, I set a timer duration, depending on the battery level at bedtime. I'll perhaps set the timer to be on and charging the phone between 4 & 5:30am. Apart from the first few charging cycles of a new phone, I don't like to fully charge/discharge the phone often, only occasionally. I top the charge up during the day, if need be, in the car etc but I never use wireless charging even though my car has the ability to. I'll probably start using the wireless charging with my S22U though, as not using it probably doesn't lengthen the expectancy by much. I appreciate battery charging technology has improved greatly recently, I'm just stuck in my ways I guess.
Everybody is talking about charging the phone between 20% and 80% but what about the result? What would the capacity of the phone be in the end of three years of usage if someone charges his phone in that range? and another thing, when you charge your phone, from 20% to 80%, you charge your phone more often than compared to 0-100%. It's said that If you charge your phone more often it's battery will wear off faster, in the other hand you will charge it less with 0-100 but this time your battery will wear of faster because of the known reasons. I'm a bit confused here. Is there any data compares the result of the both cycles after some time?
Baseus 65W GAN charging brick. Bixby Routines set to disable super fast charging at night and enable Battery Protection. I have another automation that reverses that before my wake up alwarm so it's still full when I wake up but stressed the battery less.

Question Slow charging using 5w Apple adapter

Hi.
I'm thinking about using a 5w apple adapter to charge my S22U whenever I'm not in a hurry in order to extend battery life. Is this safe to do? Anyone here using this? It kind of concerns me to use any non-oem chargers with such an expensive device.
Thanks
Rather pointless. Simply use a 15w brick or disable fast charging. Charging to and storing at 100% puts a lot of extra stress on the battery.
Limit low end discharge to 30-40% and top charge of 62-72% to extend battery life.
Avoid starting a charge if battery is below 72F, preferably between 82-90F.
Avoid going over 103F
NEVER attempt to charge a Li that's below 40F
Almost all USB chargers will default down to the lowest common denominator and give you basic USB level charging. But unless you have no other options...why bother?
The Samsung 25w brick has a very wide input voltage range. It will even charge on 60VAC.
I have 2, both bricks and cables are still working after over 2.5 years.

General Charging the device feels very slow - Exynos

Hello, 4 days ago I bought this new s22 ultra with exynos processor, but it is generating many doubts that the loading of the device I feel that it is going very slow or more than it should be.
It always takes 2 1/2 hours or more to charge 100% with a 47w essenger charger or a Samsung charger that I have from the s10+ which I think is 20w and 3a
Measuring the charging speed in a plant or portable battery that I always have mark at most 20w but never stays at that speed, usually oscillates a lot between 10 and 16w, and stays much more at 10w which makes me weird and annoying because it is very low
I do not know if I should buy a Samsung charger of 25w since from what I have seen the 45w charge does not work, and that charger would be 5A unlike the one I have that is 3A but I do not know if it would make any difference.
I would like to know if it happens to someone else or if it is something normal, this makes me think a lot about changing phones since the charge seems to be very slow.
Please would appreciate any help, I will also leave attached the charging settings I have placed and the measurement I have made with my charger, I serve any advice you have please

It's a QuickCharge 3. It's an old standard for Snapdragon phones and Samsung S-series before s20. To charge fast You need 45W PPS PD 3.0 charger. PPS is crucial.
If i remember correct samsung 45watt charging is 9v x 5A not 5v x 9A. If you have 3A the maximum you can charge is 27w (9v x 3A) but if your charger is 5v then only 15w (5v x 3A).

Turn off adaptive battery. It will change the charging speed for battery life savings. It's a new feature but has been making people think fast charging modes aren't working.
