Restore Developer options - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

Hi, does anyone know how to reset developer options to default? Or can you send me a screenshot of how they are by default?
I have activated them and scrolling through them I have accidentally pressed something but I do not remember how it was before.
Thanks for your time.

Almost at the end of the list, you should have "reset to default values."

Hi, I don't have that option.
Could you send me a screenshot with the default options?
Thank you

Looks like it's about 5 or 6 from the bottom.

Thanks and how do I check that it really restores the default values?
If I leave the HD audio option activated, it remains the same after using that option.

It's neither in the quick settings, nor in the proper settings menu
i guess there is no other way but backup and factory reset
You need to go to Accessibility > Auto-rotate screen and enable it, then the icon will be shown on quick setting.

Quick Launching Camera from Lockscreen

I must be missing something but hell if I can figure out how to launch the camera from the lockscreen.
Used to be able to do it with a double power button click on my S8 but on my VZW Pixel 3 it brings up the code unlock first. I find that there are many times I just want to take a quick shot without having to unlock the phone.
For that matter, does Pie offer lockscreen widgets at all?
Thanks for your help.

Yep. Double checked it. Still forcing me to unlock before allowing the camera to launch.

Strange, works for me. It's possible a Device Administrator (work email, etc) is preventing it... They sometimes disable certain functions while the screen is locked.

Yeah that's why I came here to ask. It doesn't seem to make sense. Especially since I have not set this up for work stuff yet.
Is there a general lockscreen widget area?

I would check Settings > Security > Advanced > Device admin apps to make sure there is not an administrator enabled that could be interfering.

Ah, yes, those were the days (pre-Lollipop) when my lockscreen was super useful and interactive, and so was my notification ticker in the status bar. I feel like an old man now remember how good things USED to be. lol
But to the OP, something is clearly wrong as this feature is turned on by default on Pixel devices. Try a factory reset. You can backup your phone to your computer using the adb backup and restore commands.
Did you select Camera as default app when launching with the phone unlocked? The first time it will give you the "open with" dialog. For me it was Camera and Snapchat. I selected camera and always, and now can launch camera from anywhere.

I noticed this as well. OP, are you having the app selection menu popup after entering your pin?
Press the power button twice to activate the camera from the lock screen. Can't activate the camera from the touch screen
Kinda sucks though it doesn't work if u have a passcode it still needs entering to use the camera

No, it'll work. You can't view pictures taken before using the camera unless you unlock
I try and get this screen
Works for me with pattern lock, don't use pin.
Just go to the camera settings then scroll down and turn on Quick launch
Enter your pin, and select one of your camera apps as "always" then it'll allow you to skip the pin when you double tap. ?

Thank you for the tip!
I hope by now the problem has been resolved, I was also looking out how to access the camera from the lock screen and it turns out (thanks to advice from friends not from anything I found from the many internet searches) that if you click the power button twice the camera pops up. You can check this by going to Settings- System - Gestures - Jump to Camera.

Ran into the same issue. Turns out it's the always on display. Turning it off in the settings wont work the only way to do it is disabling it entirely. The only way I found do it is disabling the app with adb or buying package disabler pro online and disabling it with that app.
Hey Jazz,
You hit the nail on the head. I went directly to the PluginAOD service and disabled it.
I really appreciate the help!
What app are you guys disabling as I cannot find it in all apps list
What's the app or service name?
Thanks

I'm using CCSWE App Manager (Samsung) from the Play Store.
Look for "Always on Display" and then disable the PluginAOD service

Does this allow you to still use Always on display?
Edit: I answered my own question, nope.
Hello Folks,
I ran into the same issue for my Note 10 + and I think am on the track of resolving this gracefully. I know of a developer who has created custom AODs which can disable a lot of elements of the system AOD, like clock battery etc for Note 9.
I have just contacted him here on the forum requesting for a paid version to fix this issue. It's just about removing a few lines of code from the AOD app which will resolve the issue.
Can you please support my post here and request Mr. Ash Man for help ? I am sure he will be able to fix it. Pls go here to support and read about his AOD mods. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80135868&postcount=223

There's a work around where you don't have to disable AOD or install any other apps. It's posted in one of the other half dozen threads about this issue. A quick search, or even just browsing the thread titles, and you should find it pretty easy.
Wow, what a helpful post. Thanks for providing no help or guidance to these answers with a simple link. If you can't halp, then don't comment
There is an option now to turn it off now (not sure if it is in android 10 only). Go to
Settings -> Display -> go to the bottom and search "Show charging information"

Just received the Mi 10 Pro. Anyone advise on the quick settings toggle when swipe down? There are only 12 options unlike previous phones and no way to change their order as far as I can find... the settings wheel in the top corner takes you to phone settings. Thanks in advance guys.

Yup, global version here too. MIUI global 11.0.2 stable 11.0.2.0(QJAMIXM). Yours the same MIUI version?

Yes, exact same. This makes no sense to me. It looks like you only have one page of toggles?
Makes no sense to me either, limited options and can't arrange most used to the top... maybe someone will be able to shine a light on it

Hi.
I have MIU version 11.0.10 on the global model And he doesn't show up either. With how useful it is.
This is a known issue, when restoring from a backup. Just reset the quick toggles: https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/how-to-reset-restore-quick-setting-to-t3671583
This should fix it
Thx for that... no backup as first Xiaomi... and the link there to Google+ is no more...

Hola
1. This is a known bug but seemingly only affecting certain people.
2. The easiest way to fix this without the tedious resetting of your phone approach is to download System UI Tuner and reset the Quick Settings to the default configuration. You'll find the Edit button thereafter.
3. I had this issue on my Mi 10 - Global version running on the latest v11 of Xiaomi.EU custom ROM.
Hope this helps.
The link is not needed... Run the adb command... You might have to enable USB debugging and USB debugging (secure settings)
Hi.
Using this method with the app System UI will not affect when an update arrives?
Thanks a million that has sorted it out.... kept coming up with ADB server version doesn't match client but somehow figured it out adding just the line of code, restarted phone and the 2 page quick toggle menu is there along with the ability to edit it.

Question HELP! Apps draw over front camera hole

I use KOReader which wasn't working well with the Pixel 7 Pro because of the front camera hole.
So I made it so the app would draw over the camera. This means the status bar icons also draw over the camera hole.
Now I want to revert back to the default state so the system and apps won't draw over it.
I thought I did it via Developer Options, Display Cutout. But it's already set to "Device default".
Now I can't figure out how to go back to the default.
Is there some other setting that could affect this?

If you can't find and correct the hidden user setting you altered you'll need to do a factory reset to purge the erroneous setting.

Hi thanks for your time helping with this, really appreciate it.
Not sure if I'm misunderstanding you, but I will try disabling "Developer options" completely. The phone is now rebooting after I disabled that.
(I've tried to switch between different "Display cutout" settings and going back to "Device default" hoping it'll fix it, but it didn't.)

Exactly. Sometimes Developer options goes nuts. Disabling resets all changes to default settings.
If an app you installed started this, reinstall it and see if you can disabled what caused it with the app's settings. That's the easiest way to access the hidden setting change. After it's fixed get rid of that poorly coded app!
Had a reader the altered the display color. After uninstalling the app the change remained. Reinstalled, turn off the setting that caused it, uninstalled the buggy app. It should have reset the hidden user settings to default when uninstalled. Rarely some Android apps don't uninstall cleanly and cause damage to the system. I avoid "sampling" in part because of this. This OS (Pie) load is 3 yo now... still running strong with no system upgrades or updates.
