A Hi, can someone help me with setting up google discover on the home button? I did a factory reset, before that I had set if I held the home button instead of the google assistant I had google discover. now google assistant keeps showing up. If I turn it off, after holding the Home button it wants to turn it on. I can't figure out how to change it with google discover. I would appreciate any advice.
I see you posted this question twice. I assume this was by mistake, so I am removing the other post. Please keep in mind that duplicate posts are not allowed, per the Forum Rules.
Thanks

Hi. I am trying to get my head round this tasker. I have learnt it to some extent, and can create profiles / tasks.
However, what I am trying to do (its for my blind wife really) is create a simple toggle that can be placed on the home screen or a toggle via a button press / combo to turn talkback on or off.
I have got as far as getting to the accessibility page with a keypress, but I`d like to actually TURN talkback on or off, instead of just getting to the accessibility screen (where I have to go into talkback and turn it on/off - hugely inconvenient if you need to go back and forth in apps).
I have tried other apps like Home2 shortcut which... gets me to accessibility screen
Anycut... accessibility screen
Xshortcut (really hoped this would work as it can "record" your actions... but get a permissions error)... no dice.
Can anyone PLEASE help me to accomplish this, it would hugely benefit the blind community, this is a big fail on googles part IMHO
Thankyou
Matty
I`m unsure if google allows this?

Hallo Matty
I've run into the same issue in trying to set up Talkback on my dad's phone. I see there was no response to your post. Did you find a solution elsewhere by any chance?
Mike
Hi all,
Just did the OTA update for 4.1.1 and I'm eager to try Google now, but I cannot seem to get to the main screen. What I mean is that if I swipe up from the softkeys and bring up google now (or by any other method), the main screen appears for a second, then jumps to the search screen. The option to opt-in and use Google Now does not appear at all and there is no response to pressing the menu button when I am on the google now main screen.
Any ideas on why this is happening?
Thanks!
For me the main screen is just the one when I press the "Search" soft key when I am at home screen, or the search bar at the top of the home screen.
You have to activate/opt-in by hitting Search Key>Menu button>settings. It's the first item to select in the settings.
Thanks for the feedback.
I took some screenshots to clarify my issue:
When I get to the google now home screen by either hitting the search key or the top search bar, it looks like this: db.tt/9jaob1Rv (sorry I cant directly post pictures yet, add the http in front)
At that page, the menu button does nothing until the screen changes to look like this: db.tt/TKsdxrBM (again, put the httpin front)
When I click the setting screen, I get these options with no mention of Google Now: db.tt/Mf4jqMvM (again, put the http in front)
Any ideas?
Thanks
That's odd. Could it be because you're in Canada? It might be a regional thing. I wish I knew how to help, but that's the only thing I can think of. I don't see why you wouldn't get GN though since it's available in a ton of languages.
Are you using a gmail.com account as your main account?

You sir are a genius! I usually use my university address because it uses the gmail engine but when I added a gmail account, it gave me the option to use google now.
Thanks to everyone that helped!
I accidentally somehow disabled the function where you long press the soft home key to call up recent apps. This is the only post i found on how to re-enable this, but the "Buttons" menu they talk about in Settings is not in the ROM I'm using(Cloudy G3 2.1 on an LG G2).
I already posted this question in that forum, but the only proposal was to use G3 tweaksbox, but that didn't have the option to restore this funcionality. I'm pretty sure that the long press home key for recent apps is a stock android function anyway.
Does anyone know how to get that functionality back?
Thanks,
Craig
Hi,
You have already asked in your device section, which is the best place. ?
XDA Assist is here to help navigate the site, not for support.
Thank you for understanding, thread closed.
I've seen many people asking about the Allview A5 Easy and how to hard reset it without needing to go through the "This account was reset. To continue please log in with the account that was synced with the Phone". While browsing the internet i've found this video which helped me alot regarding the phone, but it's not the same as he does there.
So he does that on an Alcatel One Touch that has the keyboard built in with Google Search. On the Allview A5 Easy, when you get to the Gmail part you simply need to do this :
1. On the left bottom corner near the button that switches from letters to numbers you have the @ sign. Hold it down and you'll get the keyboard settings. Acces one of those settings.
2. While in the keyboard settings menu, hold the left digital button ( the one near the HOME Button ) till you get the opend windows manager.
3. From there you will see the keyboard settings tab and above it you'll see the Google Search bar. Click on it and type in Settings and it will pop up the settings app. Click it and then you will have full access to the phone settings and you can factory reset it without having the gmail trouble.
I can't post the link in here since i'm the "new kid on the playground"
While we appreciate your time and effort, Assist is not the place for this

First, please forgive me if there's a sub thread for this phone. I didn't find it, and the help saying use the device forum went back to the menu where I already didn't find it. ?
My issue is that my HTC 10 suddenly decided that every press of the overview button will now activate split screen, not just long press. I remember when I first turned this function on there was an option did I want it to activate split screen on normal press or long press, but now I've spent two days on Google and cannot find this option! I can't seem to turn the function on or off as the help pages refer to menus I do not have. (Device and Multi window - they aren't there!!) and other help only tells me that long press should be working. I've had no updates since it was last working normally.
Please, anyone know where this option is hidden?

Go to your application manager and find the app(s) that control split screen and clear data and wipe cache.

Any ideas what I'm looking for? I had a scroll through and nothing jumped out at me to be the service the controls this feature. Then again, they have names that aren't particularly intuitive.
Update - Looks like I found it, thanks. I cleared out system UI and it's normal again. Still odd that the option vanished, it was definitely an easy menu.
