Android version has nothing to do with it. All FYT 7862 units are Android 10 even though they might say 11 or 12 (already so much said about that in this forum).
If you saw it on YouTube and it is for a Mekede 100-700, just try it.

Xtrons 8 core model

Somebody already bought the new Xtrons 8 core android 6.0 model?
What is your experience with this model and Xtrons in general?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...x3-vs-px5-initial-impressions-issues-t3549946
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately worse than Ownice C500.
To bad because the front of the Xtrons seems "flush" with the metal housing, the front of the Ownice is sticking out
had it about a day

I got it off ebay, it was advertised to include a backup camera which it didn't include.
I don't like the lack of a physical volume control. Hoping I can find a steering wheel remote via bluetooth that mitigates that. Also no physical home button makes getting home a pain in the butt. I would like the option to remap power to home.
Data limiting options are not present, so the HU doesn't know that it's wifi is or is not metered. It would help given data is expensive in the US and I don't want it syncing spotify over my cell modem.
That's it so far.
Install is easy
Unit is clean.
It works as advertised.
Screen isn't great, but I don't think it is any worse than what's out there.

In my experience, avoid Xtrons.
You'll never get any proper support or updates from them.

Any time I've contacted them it's been a max 6hour wait time, they even sent me a new mcu & software update for my PX5 unit now. As well as for my older PX3 that I had.

New HU with 7.1.1, bloody confused- need help!

Hi Guys,
I found a non-branded HU in aliexpress with RK3188 CPU and 2 GB RAM, an updated Amplifier IC 7851 and running android 7.1.1. This is the link- https://www.aliexpress.com/item/And...32812654291.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.RS7tIA
I am planning to get this one, I was closely following the XDA threads on Androind HU for some time. I got a plethora of info, but I still need to clear up some doubts, hopefully you guys can help me to get my doubts cleared. Please let me know if my understanding below are right:
(1) If one is not so worried about the technical support then branded non-branded HU doesn't matter right? As far as I understood, the internals are same for most of the HU. For e.g. there will be many brands coming out with the same spec as above, 2 GB RAM, RK3188 (PX3) CPU and the firmware can be cross flashed? Or atleast we can flash the malaysk rom irrespective of the Brand/Vendor, if the internals are the same?
(2) If there is something that is going to differ that would be the MCU (and yes screen resolution). Am I right? However, we can flash Malaysk rom irrespective of the MCU?
PS: I am rooting and flashing ROMs since the Samsung Galaxy S2 days, but Android HUs are a little different so I thought- "When in doubt, ask"!
Thanks in advance, guys! Please let me know anything else I should be taking into consideration before buying the above mentioned HU.
Cheers,
Rahul U S
Guys, your response is much appreciated. I just want to be sure, so asking.
Cheers,
Rahul U S
The unit you linked to is pretty much the same as the one being discussed here,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...t/dasaita-android-7-1-1-headunit-px3-t3588871
You would probably get more support going forward if you went with the PX5 octa-core version.

what support?
PX3 has 2 custom ROMs (malaysk & hal9k), plenty of mods, xposed support, etc...
PX5 has 1 custom ROM (only malaysk's, but with half of the features available on PX3 version)
Intel Sofia has no custom ROM
go figure...
@s.rahus: go for it. 2GB ram is a winner and upgraded TDA7851 is the cherry on top.
not sure if malaysk's 5.1 rom can be flashed on this 7.1.1 unit and yes, has nothing to do with MCU, that needs to be vendor specific.
Thanks much, guys!
Well, that seller is not responding at all, I would probably go with the below one. Anyway, the brand really doesn't matter. So I am trying to find a seller who responds well and something that is reasonably priced.

There are no 'better' tuner or amp ICs in these, the better is so insignificant its not worth worrying about. If you want the best audio amplification, use external amps. Regarding the tuner, you can install an RF amp at the antenna, but that doesnt overcome the shyte selectivity of these units. Best have a decent antenna and accept the hit-or-miss quality of the tuner.
I suggest buying a HotAudio, witson, joying or xtrons as they atleast have some support, even if second rate compared to major brands.

MTCD is MTCD, they're all based on MTCD reference design with some minor differences. For context, I have a JY (originally px3 1GB) with latest HCT PX5 2GB and HA 2.56 MCU.

@Topfar, as both RK3188/PX3 MTCD and RK3368/PX5 MTCD units are being made (including developing N for the RK3188/PX3 BEFORE the RK3368/PX5 gets it) then theres no reason to suggest that "support" is going to be better for the octacore ones, but basically the only support your ll get is from XDA, whatever MTC unit you buy.

Yes, I had an MTCB unit with the 7786 and then one with the 6686 and the 6686 is deffo better reception wise, wit a boosted antenna I get lots of stations.

That one has pics of MTCB/C SWC screen, not the MTCD one, guessing thats an error, unless theres N for MTCB/C coming, probabaly not, unfortunately.
Anyway, currently there are a few N ROMs for RK3188/PX3 but theyve been labelled as experimental, seeing as units with N are now actually on sale, a full N ROM for RK3188/PX3 cant be far away . . .

My guess is that they just edit and reuse the existing photos (of course superimposing the user interface). Have a look at the physical key layout as well, I think that too is not updated?
Will ask the seller anyway.

Posted in wrong thread sorry
As title im thinking of buying this unit

like this one

This looks pretty weird to me. The hardware facts (Octo-Core [Big.Little], 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM) sounds like a normal PX5 unit. PX5 however is not available with Android 7. Only Android 6 is available.
The description also says "OS: Android 7.1 Marshmallow" which is kind of wrong since Android 7 is Android N (Nougat), not Marshmallow.
I guess if you order it you will get a PX5 unit with Android 6 on it even if all pictures seem to be indicating Android 7.1.
Alternatively you might get a PX3 unit with Android 7.1 on it. There are PX3 units with 2GB RAM as of my knowledge. But then the Ocata-Core description is wrong. So either of them is wrong or you would get some complete custom design.
Anyway there are rumors that soon there will be Android 8/O/Oreo available for PX5. So I think this is the best way to do. It also seems that the first PX5 units with 4GB RAM are about to appear on the market.

This is true. My reply was more about the first link with technical data which does not seem to comply to PX5 units or are invalid anyaway (Android 7 isn't Marshmallow).
Likely both units are PX5 based. The second one is pretty sure a normal PX5 unit with 4GB RAM.
I also don't believe we will see any issues on 2GB devices on Oreo. Oreo isn't much more demanding regarding CPU and memory resources than Android 6/M. Also I am personally using this device as a head unit (some navigatin, music, streaming, perhaps some video playback) but no real heavy applications which would require more than 2GB of RAM. Of course there are lots of inefficient apps out there but get real, 2GB is quite a lot of memory.
Looking forward to see the first Oreo releases.
Too bad nobody seems to release the code so we would see much more and better custom ROMs.

Well, this won't be very helpful. I currently own a Subaru Levorg and got something like this here. But it's car specific shaping, no standard 2-DIN form factor. Also it didn't really fit my cars connectors so I fixed it by soldering my own cables. But it's a standard PX5 unit from KLD manufacturer.

No Major issues with it, only minor. Not counting the wrong cable harness as this was an issue of my car not being in any supported list.
So I am mainly suffering from standard PX5/ROM limitations. For example Google Maps in latest version hangs if terminated by auto-shutdown. There is a fix available here but it requires root access to clean the cache of another application.
Also my unit has some audible noise level which is noticeable at low volume levels. Not really an issue while driving but still annoying. The noise seems also to be dependent on touchscreen input. It's a sign of inappropriate filtering inside the unit.
My unit also suffered from very bad WLAN reception initially but this was clearly related to the bad antennas mounted to my device. I did a post about my modifications here. In addition I have meanwhile added some good WiFi Antennas directly into the dash center display which further improved reception.
These units are also known to cause slow WiFi when Bluetooth devices (phones) are connected. In such case the WiFi transfer rate drops to almost 0. Disconnecting Bluetooth helps.
Also there is a know problem called "bluetooth echo" which appears on most MTCD units during bluetooth phone calls. There is a fix available here (again, requires root). For me this is not so important as I don't use Bluetooth calling in my car regularly.
Some devices seem to have a really bad integrated microphone. Attaching an external mic usually helps. My car has ana amplified microphone built-in which I used. It works pretty well. I am not using the built-in microphone from the head unit therefore.
There seem to be unresolved issues about mounting portable mass storage devices. The re-mount after resume seems to take several minutes. Can't comment on this really as my unit only has the GPS card and I rarely use USB/GPS storage to store some music currently.
I also do have DAB+. It works pretty well. I initially bought my head unit with a DAB+ box like this (black metal box with 8-pin proprietary connector). However this never worked and the DAB+ app did not recognize it. Then I went for a simple Joying USB DAB+ receiver like this. This worked very well. Except my antenna setup with stock amplified FM antenna and splitter did not work very well. My recommendation here: Don't waste your money on splitters and amplifiers, get yourself a decent DAB+ roof antenna, install it and you will be happy. I spent lots of time on this as I didn't want to touch my rooftop antenna. Finally I was bout to trash DAB+ as it was just no fun with the bad reception. Replacing the roof antenna changed this completely. I have mounted the Antennentechnik Bad Blankenburg (ABB) 3785.01 with FM, GPS and DAB+ including 20dB gain on DAB+ band. Since then I have very stable reception and I am happy with DAB+ and never used FM again.
There was another issue with the DAB+ application included with my head unit. Always when it was sent to the background the music playback was stuttering. So the application only works when in foreground. Very annoying. However for this there is a modded/fixed version available here.
Hmm, this looks all very complex and many issues. But I am still happy with it. The Android HU allows me to run my own software or use anything available on the play store or even develop some custom solution myself. Currently I am mainly using it for DAB+ playback as well as offline navigation using "Here WeGo" or online navigation using Google Maps.
I am still hoping for the sources to be released so we could make these units a thousand times more useful - but this might remain a dream.
thanks for the excellent info posted there much appreciated. ill probably wait a few months to see what new unit appear but i guess they will have there annoying little issues too. I mainly want mine for gps nav and music via sd or usb and dab radio. not neading bluetooth but will connect to my phone hotspot for online nav.
thanks for the info mate.
Just within the last month RK3368/PX5 units have appeared with what looks like a slightly updated version of MM (different apps), these are the units in the second link.
The 7.1.1 Marshmallow (lol) units are either Allwinner or Tegra based units but theyre not MTCD/E units.
Oreo is being worked on for MTCD/E RK3368/PX5 untis, but its not out yet.
I think the 8 core Android 7.1 units are Allwinner T8. They've been popping up in China the last few weeks
So what does this all mean with the allwinner t8 good or not . I'm lost lol.

Like most sellers, Pumpkin have very little idea of what theyre actually selling, theyve just told you the number of cores and the ARM version of the cpu, not the manufacturer.

Eonon are sellers only, there are no "Eonon" units, they sell units from a several different manufacturers, the MCU will tell you who makes your unit.
And youre in the wrong forum - this forum is for MTCD and MTCE units, there are no T8 MTCD/E units, try the Android Headunits General forum.

Ok i now that Eonon is not a "factory" the model is a eonon GA2168 made for eonon with Eonon seal and labels on. can not find simular models from any of the other sellers, only at eonon website..
sorry did not know this was wrong thread as it started out with octacore and a lot of T8 posts.
Thanks for advice to the right forum.

You use the MCU to identify your unit, using that and going through all the threads in the Android Headunits general forum should help you identify your unit.

Hi, I think that You can with no problem install this version here:
https: //yadi.sk /d/umCvHqCDzHccr/ RockChip %20PX5 %20%20 Android% 209/MX/ HCT4_PX5_9.0_OTA%20 (12.06.2019) (without spaces)
It is for MX radios, but installing it onto a GS radio shouldn't cause you any problem at all.
I have a GS radio which was mounting android 8, installed this version and everything goes smoothly.
This update apparently fixed fm radio autosearch problem definitively. I even updated the MCU firmware to GS 3.10.
I can't grant You that Your radio, having a bigger screen than mine, could work, however. Try to make a backup before doing anything
Hello,
Has anyone updated MCU MTCE_GS_3.17
I'm on 3.10 and was wondering what are the fixes or updates in it
Anyone test GS rom - 2019.06.28 from link above ??

I have a ISUDAR 8" inch and this version work like a charm.
Do NOT Update MCU on your Xtrons units to the latest MTCE GS v 3.17 just yet. It totally messes up the SPLIT SCREEN function for the APPS which worked just fine w previous GS v.3.10 update!!! (CONFIRMED)

You might be confused with Android ROM vs MCU, the MCU update won't affect Android Split screen.

Hi, thanks for the response.
But I also think you are mistaken or misinformed, the MCU is the micro-controller in the unit and can't affect the split screen function that is a part included in the Rom software.
Anyways I'm not going to update yet, or at least not until there is someone that can throw some light on any improvements that could be in the latest MCU version.
As for the rom i'm on stock android 9.0 and I only have a minor bug with the radio app and the LTE usb modem crashing from time to time, so i'm waiting for Malaysk to release his latest rom for 9.0 and then i'll try and see if the bugs are already resolved in that rom.
What are the benefits of 9 over 8 anyway in our case? Almost none.

You're a little bit special aren't you? You're comparing Apples to Breeze Blocks.

Which of those particular features is most useful for your in-car experience?
Wellness perhaps? Or maybe the battery management eh?
App slices at a push might be useful. Recent apps as well.
Realistically though, you're just impressed by the big number aren't you? :good:

Is the unit an MTCD type or variant. Post answer with screenshot of mcu version.
