UART pins sony xperia 5 devices - Sony Xperia 5 Questions & Answers

How to access to uart pins of xperia 5 ? for dev purpose

Hi,
I'm trying to get the UART working on xperia xz3. So I contacted the [email protected] and they confirmed the guide on their website.

Modern xperia devices have the uart in the SD card interface (Rx on the CLK line for SD card). So there should be no need to open the device.
I've took mine Pine64 micro SD card extension adapter and remove the shielding on the other end.
PINEPHONE microSD EXTENDER - PINE STORE
PinePhone microSD Extender. Feature: Custom designs for PinePhone and PinePhone Pro Secure locking mechanism on microSD folder fits with PinePhone TPU case

Now I just need to figure out how to enable the UART itself. Which is what's missing in the Guide.

Possible to add an extra SD Card slot through connector

I want to add another SD card slot so that I can access an additional memory card while I have my WIFI card in. Assuming that the connector has the same pins as documented here, is there a way that I can communicate over the RX/TX pins? I would like to be able to connect a mcu to the pins and talk to it with a program on the phone.

You don't really need a flash drive flashdrives are more computer based cause flashdrives was made to burn computer images onto when you can't officially update a operating system on a laptop what is perfect for phones is more of something like this cause it's more appropriate.
https://m.ebay.com/itm/USB-3-1-Type...102651?hash=item1c93e155fb:g:zQAAAOSwm9tZ1g9w
The reason I say that is this cause a flash drive doesn't have sd card support I remember the big issue when pixels came out was the lack of External SD card support it's always had External SD card support Also can work for USB Type C OTG supported Android mobile phones. It's just everyone failed to use otg I can't live without External SD cards cause it's just all that extra space if you do a internal to external swap where external is new storage by rom modifications which enables the swap only if the otg device is attached and detected. Plus it's great for holding ROMs at which you can just leave in your phone.
Description:
100% brand new and high quality.
Dual card slots design, the card reader function can support SD(HC) / MicroSD (TF) (memory card is not included)
Compatible with USB 3.1 Type C port computers, such as for Macbook/Air/Pro.
Also can work for USB Type C OTG supported Android mobile phones.
USB 2.0 port can work for USB U disk / mouse / keyboard etc. low power consumption devices. (NO Power supply port, cannot work for high power consumption devices)
Simple and fashion appearance design; light weight and good heat dissipation ability.
No drivers required, plug and play.
Notes:
Pls make sure your Type C device has OTG function first before purchase,

I added more images to the original and the flash drive is working just as it should...
Picked one of these up after you mentioned it. Cheap and works great.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Hello, I'm still not clear reading these various threads about OTG transferring files to & from Pixel XL, and any and all variations: I'm still not understanding— can you get fast file transfer speeds coming off the Pixel to a flash stick, or has Google (typically) thrown a wrench into the works with their FAT32/ exFAT issue, defeating the ability to get the normal transfer speeds you'd expect on other phones using OTG?
I know this is close to a year after the last post to this thread, but this is driving me nuts just trying to find the answer. Can anyone help? If I can't get the expected fast speeds transferring large video files, then I can't buy a Pixel XL, in which case I am back to the drawing board.
Life was so simple with my NOTE 4's... It just worked, a premium camera that was hard to beat — up and until the Pixel line hit. Thank you

Fairphone2 (FP2) how to use UART ?

Hi there
I own a fairphone wich suddenly dead a few weeks ago (won't boot, wont charge, black screen).
Since murphy is great, I relealize my backup procedure wasn't working for my internal storage (but worked great for my sd card wich I don't care .
So my goal is to find a way to dump the 32gb emmc internal chip to a card in the phone's sd card slot, or downloading a dump of this even by serial ..
My first attempt is to use the uart port inside the phone, to see if it's says something usefull.. It seems to do, but for weeks I can't have anything more than garbages (like parity errors or grounding defect).
I have by now:
- tried 3 differents pl2303 usb/serial adapters (working perfectly for beagleblackboard & olimex arm boards), 1 motG rs232 (real uart to rs232),
- tried putty (with serial settings) and differents terminal emulators (outport, coolterm, telix on dos)
- started with 115200bps/8/n speed settings and a bunch of variations ...
- soldered at first tx/rx & gnd directly on the FP2 board and since, bought the "real" connector from mouser.com....
The uart/bootloader say something but I definitevely can't read it... Can someone help me ?

how do I get USB OTG working?

Hello.
I have registered here with one question - how do I connect my doogee mix (4/64) to a camera to download all of the photos?
I bought a generic micro b to usb adapter cable off ebay and installed some otg explorer apps but I can't get my phone to mount any usb storage devices. This is actually just to easily collect photos from a trail-cam without having to swap sdcards or lug my eepc901 halfway up a mountain... and geeky curiosity, so not that important in the scheme of things.
regards
Andrew

Question Micro sd type c 1024gb

Hello, someone knows how to read sd card type c 1024gb on a s22 ultra ?
Thanks for replies
You're going to need a USB-C microSD card reader.
Something like this:
C356 Type-C MicroSD Card Reader with USB 3.0 Super Speed Technology, Supports MicroSDXC, MicroSDHC, and MicroSD for Window, Mac OS X and Andriod (Midnight Grey) https://a.co/d/bicbNJT

If you have a notebook computer and an external usb drive you could transfer your data from the SD card to the usb drive. You would then need to just connect the usb drive to your phone and then transfer the data.
