[Q] Built-in "Downloads" app

I'm running 2.3.4 stock.
If from the browser, I save a jpg, it gets saved to my SDCard in the
downloads directory. When I use the builtin "Downloads" app, it shows the jpg
and I can view it, delete it etc.
When I save an jpg from email ( K9 ) it also stores the file on my SDCard
in the downloads directory. However, the "Downloads" app does not show
it !
My question is why does the "downloads" app (see Android 2.3.4 guide page
55 for description ) not show all files? Other file managers show all files in the
downloads directory. I'd like to just use the built-in app to view my downloads...
It only shows downloads from the browser. Just like your computer. If you download a file or picture in outlook, that download doesn't show up in chrome under downloads.

According to the Android Users Guide, it should display items downloaded from
other applications... I can see multiple files on the SDCard downloads directory
however, the downloads app doesn't show all of them ???
From the Android 2.3.4 Users Guide Page 55
Files, applications, and other items you download in Browser, Gmail, or Email are
stored on your phone’s USB storage or SD card (depending on your model of phone).
You can use the Downloads application to view, reopen, or delete what you’ve
downloaded.
...
Downloaded files are stored in the download directory in your USB storage or SD
card. You can view and copy files from this directory when connected to a computer,
as described in “Connecting to a computer via USB” on page 67.
I read this as saying the "Downloads" app shows and manages files in the SDCard's downloads directory...
What is the .apk name for the download app? Is it even needed?
You should take this up with Google.

You should also update past 2.3.4 because most of the reason in having these phones is having the latest and greatest. Update to the latest and see if it fixes it. Then go from there.

its only for stuff downloaded through the browser, period. be it from the browser or apps that use the browser to download stuff. besides for the market, when you see that download arrow show up in the notification bar, itll show up in downloads. people write manuals and other sources of information, people make mistakes.

[GUIDE] Make Google Play think you have a device feature you don't actually have...

So, I was looking around my ROM and I discovered this neat little trick.
You know when you power on the device after a factory reset, and that setup comes up? When it says it is communicating with the server, it is actually getting the features of your device and sending it to Google Play.
How does it get the features of the device you may be asking. Well, it parses the XML files located in the /system/etc/permissions directory!
So, how can we use this to our advantage? Well, we can add features to our device/ROM!
How to do this? Simple!
Step 1: Copy a file in that directory and paste it in the same directory. I recommend you use the Root Explorer app.
Step 2: Rename the new file with the feature you want - if you want the android.hardware.telephony feature, rename the file to android.hardware.telephony.xml
Step 3: Open the file in a text editor. Remove the <text> part of the name="<text>" tags, and replace the <text> with the feature name (the same as the file name, without the .xml extension)
Step 4: Save the file!
Step 4.5: Delete the backup file if using Root Explorer
Step 5: Open your System Settings menu and clear the app data and cache for the following apps:
Google Play Store
Google Services Framework
Package Installer
Setup Wizard
com.android.provision
Step 6: Reboot the device:
Step 7: Open the Google Talk app, and sign in to your account(s), sign out, then sign in again. Open Google Play, and see if you can install an app that needs the feature you just added!
List Of Features
No matter how hard you try, this wont add telephony to your wifi only tablet It only spoofs the features for Google Play - it doesn't actually add them, and some apps will force close if they really did need the feature you 'added'!

Calendar Storage

My phone is a Blu Pure XL and rooted.
So I guess I made a slight mistake with wanting to get rid of the stock Calendar app because I just disliked it. Maybe should have just disabled it or something instead. I did a factory reset on it and somehow or another the Calendar app reappeared again. But I am still getting the issue where it shuts down because of the Calendar Storage not being installed anymore (Whoops). I looked online elsewhere and cannot find any apk. Help would be nice! I have tried with reinstalling the app as well and that does no good, I am assuming because it has nothing to do with the app, but rather Android itself.
I don't know if there is just that part I can install through TWRP or something? I know there is an apk app in the Play Store, APK Manager Downloader I believe, that allows you to save apks onto your SD card to send to others. Maybe that would download the apk files from the Pure XL calendar app, then it could be uploaded to this page and I could download and install it.
Resolution!
I was able to find a link (download.apks.org/?apkid=com.android.providers.calendar&ver=5.1.1-981c9024fa&server=darkkiller) for Lollipop 5.1+ Calendar Storage APK. Somebody helped me out on Google+.
You need Link2SD and ES File Explorer and the zip file you downloaded from above (DO NOT UNZIP THE FILE)
I saved the zip to my internal storage, opened the zip in ES File Explorer, and installed the APK in the zip. After that you will have a pop up where you can install. So install the Calendar APK.
Once that has finished, head on over to Link2SD and you should be able to find Calendar Storage. Tap on that then in the top right menu select "Convert to system app". You will have to reboot your phone after after that completes.
This should resolve your issues!
If you are running 4.4.4 and need Calendar Storage APK: (download.apks.org/?server=12&apkid=com.android.providers.calendar&ver=4.4.4-a1d45e8141)

How to change virtual download folder to the real one?

SFA is a system manager which uses when we save/open files in the system for other apps.
For instance: i open pcloud to upload some files, press choose and it opens SFA.
The problem that SFA has virtual download folder which shows all downloads: from real download folder + downloads from apps which have no access to device memory.
When the Google assistant had no access to memory it downloaded files to its folder which in the system.
I have no root, so I can't delete these files. Maybe somebody knows how to remove these files using ADB?
Here are the screenshots to explain and show the problem. The screenshots show: the folder in total commander, the folder in SFA (root /downloads), the folder "downloads" which i underlined.
mediafire() com/folder/jvcz2dhmqkwje/SFA
PS Can i add my own folders to SFA favorites list (you can see on the screenshot: downloads, root, bugs, cloud storage)? Apps can add the to this list. Maybe it's possible to edit it?
