Stop auto delete OS update - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I have a rmx2155 (Realme 7) and there's a software update for my device. Where is it downloaded to and how can I stop it from being deleted after installing?
I want to extract and patch it. And If there's an update anyway, then why should I download it twice, one for installing and one for patching on PC?

Why not find the update on the internet and download it from the web instead of trying to download and extract the OTA update?

[Q] Removing GRJ90/2.3.5 update file before installation

After rooting my new Nexus S 4G I inadvertently uploaded the GRJ90 (2.3.5) update file, but it has not installed. Now I'm being hounded by requests to restart and install the update.
Can I just locate the file, remove it, and continue on (and if so where is the file)? Or am I stuck having to install it and then re-root?
No. If you remove the file it wont matter. That is what a ota does. Notfify of the update over the air....
There is a way to stop it but just install it and rerooot. The time it took you to write your post you could have done the entire process.....

[Q] How can i cancel update download

I accidentally started downloading the 2.3.6 update and o don't even want to update because I want to keep root, anyway to cancel the download?
I am not sure if you have used CWM but i had done a nanodroid back up before i had pressed the update button. So i restored the old back up and now i have no problems with the update.
There's two steps to the update process- download and install. Once it downloads it asks if you want to install. You can say "no" and I think it will prompt you every hour or something. If you want it to stop prompting you to install the update, you will have to be rooted. You can either delete the update file (it's the only .zip file that's located in the /cache directory) or you can freeze the following apps: "2.3.5 updater and upgrader 1.0.0" (thanks unsivil_audio).

you can't install apps that have been signed by a different developer, and replace with the current one. metaphor, you have a girlfriend, but your trying to get another girl who looks, and smells like your current girl, but her name is different. Since your in a beta OS, you can definitely expect bugs.
have you tried Factory data reset? there may be residual files from previous OS.

If you have secure boot on disable it, restart your phone, try Again. Worked for me couple times
It's a vice versa situation. If your secure boot is on then disable it else vice versa. And reboot your phone and then install the app. It will surely install. Its not like you've a girlfriend situation?

Go to settings-lock screen and security-and scroll till you see secure start up. If it's on disable it. Restart your phone and try to install again.

Reboot your phone and as soon as it starts up try to install it
I'm pretty sure you just can't, the only way to do it it's through root... unfortunately

Are you sure you solve the problem?
Clear cache partition in recovery helped with this issue.

I use ESFile Explorer to copy the new APK into the folder where the old APK is located - firstly delete the old app then replace with the new app (ensure the same name is used). Some apps are hard to find so I use BKDisabler to find the exact path of the APK I want to replace.
It worked for me as I replace the Device Maintenance App on my S8+ with a newer version off APKMirror
If still having issues, the method below may work too:
TAKE A BACKUP FIRST IN CASE IT GOES TITSUP
Download AromaFM here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108&page=2 ((its a file manager that doesnt install on the phone, just runs in recovery)
Download the APK to are trying to update and put it either on an sd card or in the download folder on your phone: You will need to know where the current APK is located on your phone (usually apps are located in /data/app or /system/priv-app/ or system/app/ before going to the next step...... so for this example the APK is located in /system/priv-app/camera)
Reboot into TWRP Recovery
Install AromaFM
Go to your downloaded APK and either cut or copy it
Then navigate to the /system/priv-app/camera folder and delete the old APK then paste the new APK
Reboot
Now you should have the updated APK installed
Guys, what are you trying to solve here, he didn't even state which apk he is trying to install....

Is this an official update from Huawei?

Hello guys, today I found a new update for the music app of my mate 9 ( I uploaded a photos in the links bellow)
ibb.co/csfhCy
ibb.co/fKDPQJ
1- how is it possible to be version 12 and get an update with a lower version?
2- when I clicked update it moved me to accept installs from unknown resources?
What do you recommend for me guys, is this a virus or what?
50 View and no reply, come on guys =(
I wouldn't install it.
Sometimes I install apps from unknown sources but then I have actively and intentionally downloaded them.
An official update from Huawei doesn't come this way.
Simply delete it.

I've got updates from Huawei like that before. If you don't have any mods that bypass signature validation, then you should be fine. If the application was not officially signed by Huawei then it would fail to install on your phone anyway. So the mere fact that the update got installed successfully is an indication that it is official and from Huawei.
I don't know about the version number though. If the version number of the APK itself was lower it would have failed to install. So I'm guessing they just have a problem with the in-app version numbering.

How to stop Honor v8 system update notify?

My Honor v8 is rooted. Current version is KNT-AL20C00B391, and there's a new version KNT-AL20C00B397. It seems that the official system update package is not supported by TWRP recovery. But it will notify me to update the system every day.
1. How can I stop the system update notify?
2. Can I modify the system version to cheat the system, if I can't stop the notify.
3. Is there any recovery that can support the official system update package.
4. Can I update the system manually? I want to unzip the update package and replace files. But I don't want to reinstall, my data will lost.
Please tell me a way to stop the notify. Thank you!
Hello, just unroot and update, no?

Will the data be lost, if I unroot and update? And now I know that the notification is limited to 30 times, so I don't want to update.
What I did was use titanium backup to freeze the native update app.
