Question How can I get the google assistant working on my galaxy active watch 2 with my P7P? - Google Pixel 7 Pro

I need help. I'm no developer. I've been following this video to try getting my wife's G2 Active and Google assistant working on her P7P. This method worked several years ago and she had the assistant running on her G2 active over her Note 8. Now we've upgraded to the P7P's though. However, since this video was created there are more required fields to creat the Oauth client ID. A package name and SHA-1 certificate fingerprint are required. I can get the package name of the GAssist.net companion app (com.cybernetic87.GAssist), but i don't know how to get the SHA-1 certificate fingerprint or even really what that is. I tried setting up the OAuth as a limited input device since it's a watch. When I load the secret json file on the phone the app crashes during the authentication attempt. What do I do? It's absolutely ridiciulous that the google assistant could never be put on the galaxy watches directly.

Google Assistant is built into the Pixel software. Are you talking about a custom ROM?

Sorry. Thanks for the correction. The title missed a very, very important detail that I want the Google assistant working on my watch. This could used to be done with a GAssist companion app and enabling the assistant API, downloading the oauth. Json API thing to the app that is on the watch and the phone, and it worked. Now the instructions seem to need updated a little because the Google cloud page is a bit different and I think more info is required to be input- that's what I've tried explaining in the OP. I was hoping someone would know what I'm trying to do and see this. I'd I had to guess this is probably something simple. I just don't know what it is.

Are you saying that based off the fact that he hasn't updated it in a while? Wouldn't the original idea still work though? I just need to know how to get that Json file in which options need selected to access the Google Assistant API when setting up the OAuth key on the Google cloud. Shouldn't that still work?

[APP][MOD]Samsung Milk Music Modded for ANY device no root required

Original concept taken this thread but when I noticed that it hadn't been updated in a while and the OP stated that he had abandoned the path I figured I'd step up..
This mod is super easy so I'll try to keep it updated to the current iteration of the app.
Installing just the app won't let you save your channels or enable explicit lyrics. To do so you'll need Samsung's account service apk installed as well. I tested many apks and got many FCs until I found this one. I'm currently using it on klte Resurrection Remix on my G900T variant S5 Nexus 6p that is my daily driver and it's working great.
EDIT:
Milk Music updated to 1.5.1700015344 (May 18 2016 Playstore version)

Samsung Account Apk
Can be found in this post (version 2.1) that I installed on the Nexus 6p and it works here. Your mileage may vary..
(This is no longer needed, FYI)
Thanks!

Device restriction was removed not the code where it checks your region/country. Milk Music is by default only available in the United States. I can attempt to modify this but unsure if that would be against XDA policy to link here.
No it is not against the policy u can provide a link
Attempted to create a "new account" and was told my email address was invalid...so what part am I missing? The two apk's are installed.

Well I've never used milk music before and I've never owned a samsung phone so I don't see how I would have had an account already. I would think it would give an account already exists as opposed to a "email is invalid" message. I gave them an @gmail account.

What about country checking code removal man?
Login Issue
Both apk files downloaded and installed; however I was unable to login to my Samsung account (processing Failed error). I tried a different password to be sure but I got an incorrect password error that time rather than a failed processing error. So, I tried logging into Milk Music and I entered my username and password. It took me to a webpage error.
Any chance the Samsung account apk was updated more recently? I'd love to access my saved stations.

Looked into this.. the evaluation for country check isn't stored in the apk.. There's an internal url that the app calls which returns a true parameter as part of the returned string. Haven't been able to narrow down the code that parses that string.. Sorry.

Very well could be the case.. I tried 5 or 6 different 'SamsungAccount.apk' files before I found one that worked.. Most just FC'd which tells me the newer ones are most likely calling to code on the Touchwiz parts of the ROM on Sammy devices.. That wouldn't be a shocker.. If you or someone wants to share the latest account apk as an attachment here I'll take a look more in depth.

This one doesn't specifically but I figured it out. Download the following Samsung Account apk: Samsung Account APK
Download Milk Music latest APK: Milk APK
Install both. Go into your settings and add your Samsung Account under Settings, Accounts, add, then Samsung Account. Once you add this open the milk apk. You'll be required to login to it as well but it should open and work perfectly with ZERO modifications. I just did it on mine and it's working great!

Voice input solution needed for Google-free LineageOS 15.1 (Samsung Galaxy S7)

Hi, I've recently set up my new S7 with LineageOS, and I'm determined to not install GAPPs or Google anything on this device. I've been able to find almost everything I need, but I'm still missing speech-to-text functionality.
I installed AnySoftKeyboard from F-Droid because it said it did speech-to-text in its description; however, when I attempted to use STT on the keyboard, I got a popup error message that said, "Voice Input is not installed on your device." The box had a button for installing this feature, but I suspect it pointed to a location on the Google Play store, since it offered to open F-Droid or Uptodown, neither of which had the needed app.
What can I do to obtain STT on this device without getting entangled with Google?
Even if you are using Los there are still Google closed binaries on your device. There is no way of getting away form Google with Android. Not completely.

The only one I know that works on Android (was origianly made to work on feature phones.) is controlled by Google or Apple. There is no real open source free, none tracking, setup.
You could look up the Google less preoject and see if they got it working but last I heard most abonoded the project because it just wasn't worth it.

TTS and SST is bound to google, you can't download it from anywhere, and even if you download it, it won't work without google services, you must install Gapps (Nano), hope it'll help
Seems like this is a dead end, for now, but I found lots of things in the works. I expect that we'll be seeing viable alternative STT services in a few years. Google, Microsoft, and Apple are always going to be at the front in this sort of thing because of their budgets, but open source will catch up.
This may be the reason I get into android app development... local, although not as good, STT is possible, I wrote some stuff in Python to do this on an embedded system. You just have to train, or purchase voice models. There are also many cloud based solutions other than Google at this point, so I don't believe this to be technologically impossible.

Yeah, I'm using the synology nas and suite of apps. They are pretty OK. The sacrifices we make to opt out of data mining and the selling of our data to third parties... I currently have no plans to use microg. If elon makes a phone, I'd buy it, hopefully it would be better and more open.

Question Is there any app in the Samsung Galaxy Store worth the login requirements?

Is there any app in the Samsung Galaxy Store worth the login requirements?
On principle, I don't have any mothership login on my phone (not to Google, not to Samsung, not to Facebook, not to any mothership) and, as far as I know, my phone works just fine.
This avoidance of mothership logins, of course, is based on my assumption of how leaky computers are in terms of privacy & security.
As far as I know, my phone works fine without any login to any specific repository, as I have hundreds of installed apps at any given time, some of which I consider to be the finest apps ever made (e.g., Akon AppManager, Aurora Store, Cellular-Z, DevCheck, Keepass2AndroidPasswordSafe, Lexa FakeGPS, NetGuard, NewPipe, Nova Launcher, OSMAnd~, SatStat, Star Chart, Tor Browser Bundle, Ungoogled Chromium, WebDav Server, etc.).
However, since I don't have any login to the Samsung Galaxy App Store, I wouldn't know if there were any kick-ass utilities that I might want that are ONLY found in the Samsung Galaxy App Store.
Are there any apps you find only in the Galaxy Store that are worth the privacy loss of the mothership login?
Thats your call. I used one before I was rooted (I think Good Lock?) that moved the clock back to the right side.
Now Im rooted and dont have to worry about any of that sh*t.
Maybe Good Lock (If that's even available in your region). TBH I can't think of an other app that would really be worth it

Thanks for that advice given I don't have a Google Account or Samsung Account (for privacy reasons) on my non-rooted Galaxy A32-5G.
Since two people suggested Samsung's "Good Lock", I read the official description of Good Lock posted in 2016 by Samsung first:

Then I found an update by Samsung who renamed it from "Good Lock" to "Good Lock 2018".

Then I read this XDA thread from 2018 about that renamed Samsung Good Lock 2018, which contains about a dozen or more modules.
Good lock 2018
Which pointed to an Android Authority article on Good Lock.

Then I found out Samsung updated it to "Good Lock 2020", and then Samsung again renamed the app in 2021 from to "Good Lock 2021" and that it contains 15 modules, according to Android Authority:
Here's everything you need to know about Good Lock 2021!

MultiStar

This Tom'sGuide article also says it's the first app you should get.
This is the first app you should install on your Samsung Galaxy phone

Dang. Thank you for confirming what (apparently) isn't stated in any of the references that I found, which is that the Samsung "Good Lock" tool suite won't work without also having a Samsung Account on the phone.
The original question remains whether there is anything people find truly useful in the Samsung Galaxy Store (with the caveat for me that it can't require a login account to be used - but for others - they might not have that privacy requirement).
BTW, I'm not saying there's nothing truly useful as I wouldn't know.
I'm just asking if there is anything truly useful in the Galaxy Store.
EDIT: I should probably note that I generally repopulate a new phone by dragging and dropping the APKs from Windows to Android over Wi-Fi as the entire Android phone is mounted as a drive letter on WIndows over Wi-Fi so whenever any app APK is installed on the phone, it's also automatically saved directly to Windows over Wi-Fi at the same time (it's just not deleted after it's installed - which is what the Google Play Store does but the FOSS Google Play Store client has an option to NOT delete the APK after installing it).
You need to slow down a little.
So that others benefit, we've covered some really gory details on how many apps update to their latest versions over here today...
Can I prevent an update (or at least stave it off) or must I accept the upcoming update? (I don't want the baseband to increment for rooting)

Themes / Apps / Mods SPayToGPay: Remap Samsung Pay long-press shortcut to Google Pay on watches in regions shipping without Samsung Pay

There are regions where Samsung Pay isn't supported, and the app is therefore not preinstalled on the watch. As a result, those users are unable to use apps such as GW4Remap to remap the bottom button long-press shortcut to anything else. In order to help that group of users, I made a simple app that remaps the shortcut to Google Pay.
The app works by simply being a fake Samsung Pay app that launches Google Pay whenever it's invoked by the system through the use of the long-press shortcut. Since trying to install the app on a watch where the real Samsung Pay has been preinstalled will result in a signature mismatch, this only works on watches from regions where Samsung Pay isn't preinstalled.

NOTE: Requires rebooting the watch after installing the app.

EDIT 2: Version 1.2 hides it from the recent apps menu. No other changes.

When you say that Samsung Pay shows as installed, can you be more exact? Do you mean the package name or an app with that name?

It's up to OS to decide when and where the shortcut works. This app just pretends to be Samsung Pay and launches Google Wallet when started.

Hi, I've recently installed LOS 18.1 for MicroG. All is fine but I can't get my galaxy watch 4 to work with it; I can't get it to finish the pairing with the Galaxy Wearable app.
I've been looking around and found very little information about this.
Is it known not to work or is there something extra I need to do?
Some more info about the setup:
a) MicroG has enabled:
1. Google device registration
2. Cloud messaging
3. Location modules (mozzilla and nominatim)
b) but has disable:
1. Google safetyNet
2. No google account is logged in
c) All the self-check are checked
Thank you for your support.
Have you solved this? I have the exact same issue but i have a google account logged in. This is the only thing holding me back from removing GAPPS.

No, I have not found a solution. My watch has been off since I made I switch.
It's a little sad that no one has answered at all to my post.
Also having the same issue, on LOS 20 with MicroG... it looks like I might have to give up microG... too many things not working as expected
I had massive issues authenticating earlier as well, since my Google account kept defaulting to 2 factor.
To answer my own question and since people keep coming back to this thread I thought to give some info:
You can find the state of the MicroG API here -> https://github.com/microg/GmsCore/wiki/Implementation-Status
In our case we should look at the API for wearable. As of today 20th of April 2023, the status is "No functionality is implemented at all".
Additionally there's a bounty to add support for the wearable API. You could tip in if you would like someone to work on it. You can find this here -> https://github.com/microg/GmsCore/issues/4
So to my original question: there's nothing that can be done about wearables with MicroG. It is known not to work as the community hasn't had resources to work on reimplementing this part of the API.
