I do a lot of HTC device hacking and unlocking, but have never done a CDMA device. Is it possible to unlock the XV6700 and use it on another USA CDMA Carrier? Also, I presume there are other ROM's to install on this device? Any guidance would help a lot.

CDMA devices aren't actually locked per se, the device itself will work great with any CDMA network u tell it to work with as long as the service provider agrees to register your device in their ESN database. In other words all phones released by verizon have ESNs specific to verizon and all sprint phones have ESNs from sprint's database. The providers share the ESN data and know when a phone you're trying to register with them is not one of theirs. So it really comes down to your service provider agreeing to register your phone in their database (which is most likely not going to happen unless you have connections). The other and not so legal way of doing this is to clone the ESN of your old phone (which you can just throw away) and download a new prl (preffered roaming list: tells the phone which towers to prioritize) to your new phone. So it IS possible but illegal due to the ability to copy somebody's esn and charge up their bill. Hope this helps!
this might not be for cricket but its a start

Yes, CDMA Devices aren't locked like GSM Devices. You will need to have Cricket register the ESN (Electronic Serial Number) in their database. I have family who has done it and have worked with a guy who got a 6700 ESN changed over to Cricket.
Need to go from Cricket BACK to Verizon
I have the opposite problem - bought a used VX6700 that is already on the Cricket network, but I am on a Verizon plan (yes I was a doofuss and get my old Verizon phone wet, but it was locked LG crap anyway with no option for customizing - so GLAD to be coming back to the HTC world!)
Whenever I dial *228 to get it programmed, it says "welcome to Cricket". The Verizon 800# tech people had no clue how to get it back, even after they had me try a few unusual settings in the phone. Then they sent me to the Verizon store - they said they could not do anything, no real explanation why not. The used store I bought it from thinks they could try to reflash it - but I'm not so sure that is really necessary.
I have successfully flashed my old HTC Wizard for practice - so I know sort of what I am doing if flashing IS needed. Just hard to find information even after doing a lot of searching. There are a few threads on going from Verizon to Cricket -- but none for how to get BACK.
Thanks in advance.
Update
The phone guru guy at the Phone Smart store I bought the used phone from was able to get it back onto Verizon for me. He said something about modifying the PRN Provide Roaming Number - or at least I think that was the one - so that Verizon's towers would know to look for this phone now. So all good for now. I need to get WM6 on it soon though! Currently it is on a slightly enhanced build of WM5.
Looked all over site..sounds like info I will need..but I just started.
I have HTC Ozone that I bought cash when I had Verizon wireless. I canceled with them over 5 months ago after being with them for over 10 yrs. I have T-Mobile now and would like to see if I can use my HTC Ozone (or Motorola q9c) with my current carrier T-Mobile.
I just started attempting to do this..so I did get a site where I got an unlock code..and I unlocked the Verizon SIM card. I did not know what to do next. I put the TMobile SIM in and it does not recognize SIM.
I saw on posting that I needed to change my network from CDMI to GSM? (I hope I have those letters correct). I did do this..and no matter what I do with trying the Verizon SIM or re-trying my current TMobile SIM..did not recognize, but I noticed that when I change from CDMI to GSM..it always goes back to CDMI. And the network name above it is fixed on Verizon with no change option.
I am new at this..but I am a computer geek..self taught, so terms like FLASH it and others, I am not familiar with yet. (ROM? means what)
I really did not use HTC Ozone for email, internet much..then I got stuck with Required data..so if there is some way to use internet..I don't care. it would be nice option to choose.
I just had to get out of that phone, as the rules changed with that carrier and it suddenly became a required DATA phone. (I had simply updated from my Motorola Q9c..'which is another option to update if it is easier to able to be used on T-Mobile..it just needed new battery.( I wish I never updated). T-Mobile phone I actually downgraded from my $500+ phone to a basic Gravity2. I miss the calendar and basic OS features. But I do like my new carrier very much.
Is there any way to remove all this Verizon software? or change the settings they have set on so it is locked with their Version only, I would prefer to see if it is possible to unlock and use either my HTC Ozone or Motorola q9c.
I have seen others mention 'removing carrier firmware and installing clean software..and I have seen on this site, real cool development stuff done.
I do not know if my phone has 'Cedar? or whatever the other name was?
Does anyone know a good first steps to look into to do this? I did already unlock my prior HTC Ozone..I had used when I was with VerizonWireless..over 4 months ago, so it is here..and Motorola q9c real good phones I would rather have the choice to use.
Will I be able to use my T-Mobile SIM in my HTC Ozone? or on Motorola q9c? And Use one of these great phones?
Here is my phone specs on Ozone: (getting info on Motorola)
HTC Ozone (bought Verizon) have Verizon SIM card..I was able to unlock it.

Hi all,
I'm having a serious issue with my phone that just recently bought off kijiji, I suspect that my phone could be blacklisted or blocked.
So, heres the issue we, me and my friend went and tested this phone out. Since my sim was too big for the Note 2, my friend tried his and worked fine with WIND. After the person who's selling to me swiped the note 2 and gave to me. Deal done. Ok, once I got home, I cut my sim to size and tested it = invalid sim. Asks for unlocked code, but when i called the guy (person who sold it) he told me originally the phone is factory unlocked and suspected that i may have damaged the pins but wait if i did damage the sim slot pins it would've said NO SIM. Went to the store got it unlocked and still have the same problem. Went to a virgin store gave me a new sim that's actually to size and same problem. After virgin told me that on their records the IEMI # - listed a completely different phone like Galaxy Ace S6802 but the serial number on the phone is registered as a NOTE 2. So that's major red flag. Next, went to Wind, they said their going to charge me to get the phone registered on their networks. But there's the thing the phone worked with Wind sim card but after unlocked NO SIM cards work. I went to the settings of the phone and it supports multi band network so LTE and GSM and all the others should work. Also, when i use my friend's sim it says roaming but still doesn't work.
So, i'm assuming the original person stole the phone and it has been blacklisted and maybe he got some hacked to make it work for himself. By the way i do know where this person lives and i have strong evidences to support my claim against this person and will file a report against him if necessary.
SOOOO...any ideas guys?
Anyone got any input on the topic?
I bought a Samsung Galaxy light (SGH-T399N) from MetroPCS for $29 on the prepaid plan last November and never made another payment on the account as I unlocked the phone and placed my T-Mobile prepaid sim card in it and have been using it fine up until a couple of days ago.
Even though I did not sign any contract, MetroPCS has decided that they did not like me only paying them for one months service and have blacklisted the IMEI number of the phone with T-Mobile!
I want to keep using this phone on T-Mobile network and want to *LEGALLY* change enough of the phone with a donor phone's IMEI that is not blocked on the Tmobile network and I do not want to do anything illegal, so I just bought a working SGH-T399 T-Mobile phone that is beat up with a cracked screen, yet is working.
How much of the donor phone do I need to transfer to the blacklisted phone to make it legal?
A. Take the sticker with the IMEI barcode label and transfer that along with the complete EFS directory?
B. Remove the main PCB with the modem chip from the donor phone to the blacklisted phone (It has the IMEI label on the PCB) and transfer it to the new phone that has everything else new?
I'd like to do option A as I have it unlocked already and the modem is different than the Tmobile modem and MetroPCS came with 4.4.2 on it and I have it already tweaked as I want it.
Can I avoid using the old PCB from T-Mobile and just use it as a donor IMEI device and then put it in my parts drawer with no IMEI label?
I'd rather keep the main PCB from the new phone rather than swap to an unknown condition older PCB.

Why doing soo much efforts just simply pay the amount and enjoy till the works :good:
IMEI tampering in any way is illegal in most areas.....and NOT discussed on XDA. Take the previous posters advice, or look to another site for help.

Completely lost. Samsung Galaxy S7 bought off eBay for "Verizon" not working.
Ok guys I'm completely lost here on what is going on and hopefully someone can help. I've flashed tons of firmware, rooted and unrooted several times.
I bought a Galaxy S7 off eBay. The model number on the back of the phone is SM-G930V, the box says SM-G9300 on the back corner.
I thought it would be good, put my SIM card in it, and it won't recognize it, says "No SIM card - No Network Connection"
So I did and IMEI check, and it comes back:
Brand: Samsung
Phone model: Galaxy S7 G930P
Blacklist status*: CLEAN
So the IMEI is actually coming back as a Sprint IMEI. *#06# come back "Not Registered on Network"
In the about phone settings the IMEI matches the IMEI on the back of the phone.
currently I've flashed the latest Verizon firmware using the Verizon software upgrade assistant.
Phone Details (From About Phone)
Model: SM-G930V
Android Version: 7.0
Android Security Patch Level: August 1, 2017
Baseband Version: G930VVRU4BQH4
Build number: NRD90M.G930VVRU4BQH4
Network: Searching for service
Mobile Network type: unknown
Service state: out of service
Roaming: not roaming
Mobile Network state: Disconnected
MIN: Unknown *This field is not on my actual Verizon S7*
PRL version: unknown *This field is not on my actual Verizon S7*
ERI version: none *This field shows "6" on my actual Verizon S7 without SIM card inserted*
IMEISV: 00
ICCID: Unknown
IMS registration status: off
Phone status: Official
My main goal here is to get this phone to work on Verizon. Any help is appreciated.
Boot into download (Vol down + home + power) and get the model number from there, can be faked in the OS.
Sounds like it's a different carrier model and is still carrier locked to me.
Yep check download mode for actual model, but if a Verizon SIM isn't working and IMEI says G930P, then try putting a Sprint, Boost or Virgin Mobile SIM in it
You might need to pay to unlock it for Verizon
Download mode shows that is it a G930V, and that is what is on the back of the phone as well.
I'm not sure how if this phone is a G930v and it has all of the IMEI and G930v markings how the IMEI is registered with Sprint.
I used a co-workers SIM FOR some pre-paid plan that works on the sprint network and it did show signal
It has the Verizon OEM ROM on it though, how can I get it on for Verizon? Do I have to flash a sprint ROM or something first?

Strange one, unfortunately flashing different carrier ROMs doesn't switch it over to be open for that carrier, you'd need to SIM unlock it with a paid service, but as it is a G930V it should be working with Verizon SIMs unless someone has somehow modded it for Sprint, not sure if changing the IMEI (Which is not allowed to be discussed here) would do that, no idea
Personally I would give a SIM unlock service a try, or try another Verizon SIM in it in case it just doesn't like yours
Is starting to sound like it was originally a 930V and someone has changed the IMEI to Sprint, and that IMEI is still carrier locked to sprint.
Unless Sprint offers a service where they change other carrier phones onto their service?
bump, anyone?
It might be a damaged device.
Eureka!
So, something is definitely funny with this phone, i hope this can help other people who bought a phone from an eBay seller that might be less than reputable.
The Phone is IDENTICAL to my OEM purchased from the Verizon store S7. literally perfect, but I think it might be "fake". For one, the wireless charging does not work. and for two, the IMEI when checked definitely comes back to a G930P, however on the back of the phone, underneath the glass it clearly says SM-G930V and has the IMEI # engraved that matches the phone, which comes back as a G930P.
That being said, here is what I did to fix it.
I flashed the G930PVPU4APL6 Sprint 6.0.1 ROM
I then used Zx3 box to root the phone
Once rooted, I used ZX3 box to unlock the phone
Then I flashed the VZW-G930VVRU4API3-20161121101036 Verizon 6.0.1 ROM
and boom, it works on Verizon!
I do have another question.
If I go into the phone and do a "Factory Data Reset" will I lose my unlock?
No. It's safe to do a factory reset.
Sounds like a damaged ROM (possibly damaged SIM).
You CAN do a swap to a different firmware, though.
True story - my current S7 had VZW firmware (from the jump); however, the original owner blew up the phone and left oweage on it; therefore, it was "network locked". Basically, I was not supposed to be able to take it anywhere.
How I end-ran the network lock - I put T-Mobile firmware on it. (Permissible - the phone itself has a universal SoC - I downloaded T-M firmware via updato.com, installed it using the current version of Odin, and plopped a T-M SIM from Tracfone into the phone, and migrated it to the T-Mobile side of Tracfone - replacing my VZW-hosted Tracfone handset - a Galaxy Nexus. Absatively legal.) End result - VZW (supposedly) S7, running T-Mobile firmware, on the T-Mobile side of Tracfone - as legal as an American eagle. I have LTE and VoLTE working (in fact, I have it set to use LTE right now, since I'm at home; however, were I too far from a T-M tower, I could use VoLTE (this is, in fact, explicitly supported by T-Mobile as a standard feature for this phone - even for their MVNOs - such as Tracfone)). Not perfect - however, blame the carriers for not following the MVNOs and allowing non-stock firmware; VZW, for example, REQUIRES stock-only firmware on their sold-by phones - their MVNOs don't. Do the other carriers - including AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile, Sprint, etc., have the same policy? I get WHY VZW has that stock-only firmware policy - their-in-house support folks know diddly about third-party firmware - how can they be expected to know anything about all the various sorts of third-party ROMs? MVNOs don't have in-house support folks the way VZW, etc. do -most of them don't have their own retail locations, either. (Tracfone, for example, is JUST starting to deploy branded locations.)
