Fyi,
Google Maps is available again on Wear OS 2 smartwatches (Update: Statement)
It was discovered that Google pulled support of Wear OS 2 from a few of its apps, including Google Maps. It has now restored support.

Wear OS Watch?

Hey guys,
I'm looking at potentially buying one of these and I can live with side loading most Google apps i need but, i've seen some info on the web that suggests due to the lack of GMS that Android Wear will not work. Can I use my Wear OS watch fully with this or, not at all?
Thanks!
Hi,
I've owned the Mate 30 Pro for all but 12 hours last week and managed to move all my apps via "Phone Clone" but remember that one of the reasons I returned it was the fact that even though I managed to have Wear OS app on the Mate 30 Pro, it wouldn't launch due to lack of Google support.
Hi,
Even if you still manage to install GMS on the phone, you will not be able to sync the Google account from phone to watch. Due to this you will have only calls, notifications and health tracking working.

Not true for the people who have GMS fully working except google pay and netflex. My fossil gen 4 is working fine, installed a bunch of paid watch faces bought on google play store on the Mate 30 pro and transferred on the watch. I had GMS installed in January this year and have no pop-up warnings.
I also don't have any issue with GMS on phone. I don't use GPay and i use the older apk for Netflix. Only issue i have is to copy the account from phone to watch. BUT... i think this applies only to Huawei Watch 2 users. I don't know for other types of watches.
I have not found a way yet of adding my Google account from my mate 30 Pro to my Android Wear watch too. Notifications work ok from other apps on the watch, so not a complete loss but 'Google' wear apps can not be installed as Wear play store and it's account does not exist on the watch.
I have the Moto 360 and works fine with my mate 30 pro
My Huawei Smartwatch 2 (2019) is working fine with WearOS

( ? ) Covid-19: API from Google for Mate 30 Pro with GMS installed.

According to the blog that I left you in the following link -> here , Huawei phones released after the US ban will not receive an API from Google Services to track phones using BLE bluetooth in order to make a tracking system that allows better monitoring and predictions. of infections.
But if for example a Mate 30 Pro has installed Google services on it and they work right, will it receive that API from Google through the Play Services update?
Interesting...here in France they are also talking about a tracking app under excuse for the Covid-19 virus. I was planning to reactivate my old Alcatel dum phone. It has a whopping 2MP rear cam, fixed keyboard and best off all, no android. Sorry Mr Micron, cannot comply. But if my Mate 30 pro is not able due to being blocked by Google mobile spy services I can leave the Alcatel in the drawer. That said, my Mate 30 pro has GMS installed and working without any hitch, well at least the few google applications I am still using are working flawless. I could also pick up my retired HTC HD2 with Windows Mobile on it...
Google will build the tracking API into the Play Services. This allows them to push it even on Android 4 devices that no longer receive OS updates. So, yes, if you have a working sideload of PS that gets updated, you'll get the API. Not that you actually want to. Bluetooth based contact tracing is a dangerous security hole.

Harmony OS update and Google

Hi, I have a P30 (model ELE-AL00) bought from China a few years back. I have Youtube, Google Maps, Chrome browser, Play store, Gboard keyboard, Google, WPS Office, Office, Drive, Google Voice, ... apps installed on my P30 (with EMUI 11.0.0.155(C00E155R1P5)). Now I receive an update for Harmony OS 2.0.0.165. If I update from the current EMUI to Harmony OS, will I lose all the above Google apps and Microsoft apps? Thanks

Thank you so much for the info and the link. I will upgrade my P30 to Harmony OS in the next few days.
My guess is that everything that has to do with Google (apps / services) will no longer be installable / executable, and Huawei can also live well with it: Huawei's main market is China itself and the company holds there a market share of ~40 percent.

As far as I know, both Google apps and Microsoft apps will continue to work well on a Huawei P30 phone after the device upgrades from EMUI to Harmony OS.
Just please make sure that you have disabled the 'Pure Mode' on Harmony OS in order to sideload an apk.

Alternative to Google's GPS service after disabling Google services and framework

Hello all,
Phone: Samsung Galaxy A20 (A205YN)
Android version: A11 R
Rooted: Yes
Custom ROM: Project Sakura 5.1 Official
Some months ago I uninstalled/disabled (via ADB) most Google packages, including .gms, .vending and .gsf. I haven't had any real problems since then (notifications don't work, but whatever), however I also never had any maps app, so I decided to download one last week. It was then that I found out that most apps use Google's GPS service to display location to the user, and obviously now that doesn't work for me.
I've tested this with the Organic Maps app and through mylocation.org on Firefox, so it's not an issue with any app in particular (I believe).
What I was wondering was if there's an alternative I can install on my phone that utilises my phone's GPS sensors that apps can recognise to display my location back to me, or if that's impossible/not how it works.
I've searched for this elsewhere and the only thread I found is around 8 years old, so maybe it's changed.
Any help is appreciated.

Issue on Harmony OS 3.0 with Google Play Services installed and Google Maps in some apps.

Hello everyone.
I would like this post to reach more people on XDA who could solve it.
Since I received the update to Harmony OS 3.0 on my Chinese Mate 30 Pro 5G, all those apps that use Google maps for geolocation do not work.
I'm typing this thread here because I'm looking for people who has got this issue like me.
Examples like WhatsApp for location sharing, Wallapop, SocialDrive, etc. None of them work with Google maps. I get a message: "Updating Google Play Services", and it does absolutely nothing else.
I have Google Services installed on my Mate 30 Pro almost natively with the Googlefier and MicroG method from Eloy Gomez, a Spanish developer, and everything was perfect until Harmony OS 2.0
After Harmony OS 3.0 update no longer.
I am attaching a screenshot of one of my weather apps where it does not show the Google map and therefore does not work and another of sharing location by WhatsApp using Google Maps.
Has anyone who has experienced the same issue been able to fix it ??
Or has someone from XDA who has experienced the same issue been able to solve it?
