Hi, people!
Spoiler: Old message:
Porting our TWRP for A12 (ZUI 14.0.127).
Now it's fully working, exept touchscreen. But with mouse connected via OTG you can to do all neeeded operations.
IMPORTANT! The method of decrypting /userdata is not implemented there (different from A11), so you need to install the DFE-NEO patch to make it work properly with your data.
EDITED: New version v5
Added ability adb/MTP on encrypted /data.
MTP works on demand, pressing Disable MTP-Enable MTP, displays SD card only.
UPDATED Febr. 08:
Built a new full-featured version with data decryption from source. For Android 12 - ZUI 14
Decrypts data by default, if the tablet is not protected.
If it's protected by pin/password, it asks for it and decrypts internal storage.
I haven't tried the pattern, see here: https://twrp.me/faq/openrecoveryscript.html (Specific pattern decrypt note), try it yourself.
Device tree lies here: https://github.com/F1tm0t/twrp_device_lenovo_J716F
Many thanks to:
Yahoo Mike - for useful tips on decryption implementation and general support.LSS4181 - for Q706F device tree, I used it as a basis for mine.Ungeskriptet - for his J716F device tree for A11, it was useful for me.TWRP_J716F_A12_DD. img DD means Data Decryption.
Working: Everything, excluding vibration.

PS.
Welcome to collaboration.
I have another variant of TWRP with a malfunctioning touch. The pressure points do not correspond to the position of the buttons. It need to add some calibration files or the right firmware or the right driver for the screentouch. This is too complicated for me I'm just advanced user, no guru.
Please, write me in PM if you can help with this issue.
Nice to see some development for the TB-J716 tablet XD since the developer don't want to release the kernel source/ open source to the public.
Die you add the firmware for touch to TWRP? I have it like this in my TWRP port: https://gitlab.com/ungeskriptet/and...tree/android-11/recovery/root/vendor/firmware
I suggest you extract the firmware yourself from the latest ZUI, the older versions might not work.

Yes, I was trying this.
Thanks for the tip. I have a couple of questions. I'll write you in PM, if you don't mind.

Many thanks to Ungeskriptet for helping.
To be continued (I hope)
New version for ZUI 14 with new features:
* added many partitions for backup/restore
* added some partitions for flashing via Install IMG

I offer version 4: https://mega.nz/file/g4VBnIpC#_4_x0b3V-Z6oSoXDA2xbHSN7hBKXRgjnwfFMLfPcYXA
My version cannot decrypt /data, so you have to install the DFE-NEO patch from TWRP.
After rebooting to OS you must to enable USB debugging, it create adb.key in /data.
And after rebooting to TWRP you can use adb/MTP, because TWRP sees adb.key in not-encrypted /data.

Hi, I just got this tablet and it's working great.
Thanks for your files, I've used some of them to work on the tablet.
Do you know how this fastboot.exe is modded to work with the p78hd ?
Because I couln't find any info on the proprietary bootloader Allwinner is using on the A31. And I'm kind of amazed it support fastboot, but would like to port it to linux.
Yesterday I managed to kind of port the a10hd twrp recovery, there is a lot more to do, and it would help to use fastboot to boot the recovery without using a Windows machine. (Actually, I haven't tried the modded fastboot.exe yet, but I reinstalled a Windows yesterday on a computer lying around in order to use PhoenixSuite)
edit: Could you reupload the OTA update ? The link is dead :/

I want it on Linux too, i found the modded exe here => http://linux-sunxi.org/A80#fastboot_.28under_windows.29
So lucky because i've searched many times why standard fastboot doesn't work, and with the PID, i found this wiki, and exe.
Strange there are nothing on the A31 page => http://linux-sunxi.org/A31

All I want to do is provide R/W access for /product/media/audio and everything in that folder including /ringtones . Can you please explain the steps this script can do to accomplish that. And please, act like I'm a 5 year old because I couldn't get the script to work. Currently working with a Moto One 5G Ace. Thank you very much.

Hi, it depends what u want, its an installer with multiple uses, but if u only want to mount the main partitions as RW, add auto_mount_partitions to the updater-script and then flash it (Partitions will stay mounted while u in recovery after flashing)

Hello! Is there any possibility now to leave data partition unencrypted?
Tried to install miui.eu with PBRB with dfe toggles enabled - no result.
Tried to install same through TWRP + latest dfe - no result
Tried to install havoc treble + dfe - no result.
Am I missing something?

If your data partition is encrypted right now, you have to format it first, then flash DFE to prevent encryption. I'm guessing that's what you did?

Yes, i did it and it was not helpfull. Seems that i've found something. Looks like I should repack vendor image with patched fstab.qcom and then reflash it through fastbootd. Because of superimage dfe patch cannot replace this file(vendor is RO even in recovery mode)

What's the pros of leaving data unencrypted?
Do we have to do this unpacking and repacking process for every new version of stock ROM?

The only real benefit I know of is being able to switch between different ROMs without having to format data - it would still be recommended to wipe it, but you would be able to preserve your internal storage between ROMs.
Theoretically there's also some performance that you could reclaim by getting rid of encryption, but on such powerful SoC any gains would not be noticable maybe outside of benchmarks.

Minor CPU performance and NAND lifetime gain. Also if you somehow clear contents of /metadata partition - you will loose all of your files on /data partition ( and internal sd as /data/media too).
Also several years earlier days I've faced a problem when new firmware can't decrypt data after previous one(it was in lolipop times as I can remember). So, if I can preserve /data unencrypted - I'll try to do so.

Seems yes, at least for now. Not for every rom, just for vendor part.
You can apply this patch to any rom based on 12.0.6.0 vendor. You'll only have to edit original dynamic_partitions_op_list file from rom archive - replace "resize vendor" string with
resize vendor 1563119616
Thanks for the work. Confirmed worked on ArrowOS build 2021.05.04. Flashing dfe and masgisk are not necessary
Thanks !!! It works !!! This is what I have been looking for...

So.... To get an unencrypted phone on Android 12 Custom ROMS you still need to flash patched Vendor?
Twrp 3.6 for 12 can't encrypt System/User data.
So to create backups one would need an unencrypted phone. Correct?
To switch between different Android 12 Custom ROMS with Userdata and system ready to flash back.

Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) is an open-source software custom recovery image for Android-based devices. It provides a touchscreen-enabled interface that allows users to install third-party firmware and back up the current system, functions often unsupported by stock recovery images. It is, therefore, often installed when rooting Android devices, although it isn't dependent on a device being rooted to be installed.
Compatible with Lineage Modded 18.1 only!
Instructions
1. Download TWRP image
2. fastboot boot twrp-3.5.2_11.0-2-nio.img
3. Enter Passcode if you have to decrypt /sdcard
4. adb push twrp-3.5.2_11.0-2-nio.img /sdcard
5. Click Backup -> Only Select Boot and Swipe to Backup
6. Go back to Main Menu, -> Advanced -> Install Recovery Ramdisk
7. Find and Select twrp-3.5.2_11.0-2-nio.img -> Swipe to Install
8. Done! If any issues, restore the backup made before.

Is recovery somehow tied to the ROM? I thought recovery can be anything regardless of what the ROM is, as long as bootloader is unlocked.
Tried while stock rom was installed. Its fine when booted from fastboot. But if installed, touchscreen doesn't work.
Will try on lineage modded and see.
Edit: it works with a mouse. So touchscreen doesn't work, yet to try on lineage modded.
can't start adb sideload mode .
failed reason unkown.
lsusb shows no device presented while enter the sideload mode.
i flashed it directly, like this:
Code:
fastboot flash boot twrp-3.5.2_11.0-2-nio.img
is this ok ?
Hello,
What's going on with TWRP? twrp-3.5.2_11.0-3-nio.img just flashes and won't work and twrp-3.5.2_11.0-2-nio.img isn't booting on my G100 any ideas?
Thanks
Hello,
Finally was able to get this installed on my Moto G100 but it's essentially useless. I can't access the internal flash on the unit from Windows in MTP mode after formatting flash to wipe so I can install lineageOS and Gapps. Essentially have to get LOSrecovery installed and then do sideload because I can't do what I need to with this. The newer version just flashes the screen. Are we going to get one that actually works?
Thanks!

Yes I have a beta version that has that functionaility working already, just working on slot switching bugs.
Hello,
Awesome!!!! Cannot wait to give it a go. You're doing great work and I hope to use this along with LineageOS and have this as my new phone to use!! WOOOHOO!
Thanks and sorry if I came across as rude!
Additionally I can't sideload gapps as it says there isn't enough room... uhg these two slot phones essentially suck a lot... the DooGee S95 Pro I have is so much simpler!
ETA? Oh yea sorry don't ask for ETAs ever!
Oh I just hope it's soon so I can start using the phone. Do you need some bug spray?
Anyhow I'll use whatever version you have A/B switching aside because you can switch from A to B easily with fastboot, while you work out the last bugs.
Thanks and appreciate your work.
And then I ask for an update!
Any updates or development of this?

Hi
How is the proper way of installing GSI images? I have tried TWRP method and Fastboot method, neither of them works. Is it even possible on this device?
Fastboot method gets error @ "fastboot erase system" (remote: Check device console)
BL Unlocked ofc and adb/fastboot is up to date as well drivers
TWRP - i lose all my partitions for some reason and have to MSM back to working state
GSI i tried https://developer.android.com/about/versions/12/gsi-release-notes#downloads
This is my first fully treble supported device and i actually do not know how A and B partitions behave while doing gsi/rom flashing. Perhaps someone can explain it?

This is my first fully treble supported device and i actually do not know how A and B partitions behave while doing gsi/rom flashing. Perhaps someone can explain it?

The 8T is not only an A/B device, it is also a virtual A/B device. I'd be very surprised if you could get a"normal" A/B GSI to boot on an 8T.

There is this Dynamic System Updates feature, i have used it earlier to test android 12 GSI
But now I'd ike to delete wherever those GSI's stored, so that i possibly can test other GSI there is

Click discard on the notification of dynamic system updates.
If no notification then the gsi is deleted
I did that in hopes that it clears this dsu dialog up from those that is there now, but no, they are still there and i can use them if i want. it's like they are stored somewhere? (i have no other GSI type file stored on my local storage btw)

Do you mean that the installation of the dsu is so fast that it is impossible to download a 3gb GSI in such a short time?
Well, i did not know that it requires internet connection, i always tough it uses file from local storage

It also occured to me, only takes a few minutes to install dynamic system.
To me though, when I discarded the GSI at that instant there will be a few gigabytes freed and that is a sign of the GSI deleted.
For me it takes a while tho
All the DSU magic happens in this folder
Tried deleting the gsi there?
It was empty before i started dsu installation, also i have no dsu install file on internal storage download folder, that proves the fact that is takes dsu file or filename from internet, because when i rebooted i was greeted with OOS, the same i have primarily installed, with only 4gb on internal storage, and i made screenshots there, but they're gone now.. obviously
