Since the last update, some mkv files that I play will miss subtitles. I extracted the subtitles from an MKV file and found out that if they have italic formatting in them, e.g. "Hello <i>world</i>!" then they do not get displayed.
I'm running 'MX Player Pro 1.51.8 (ARMv7 NEON)' on a 'Chromecast with Google TV'.

Tanks
same here ... looking for a player capable of reading also subtitles (.srt)
It is not a player, but you can
a) recode a movie to shrink it size without noticing any difference in Topaz's screen
b) Embed subtitles
c) play the mp4 movie it produces without any additional software: just the HTC video player included in your ROM

Tested and is really working + it gets frequent updates
For playback I use CorePlayerâ„¢ Mobile, because i never managed to get tcpmp 0.7*/0.8* to work with a subtitle plug-in.
So I also re-encode .avi (xvid) + .srt files with AVI ReComp
I read that RockPlayer and VPlayer can read subtitles from text files but i can't set this up to work. I was trying .avi movies with .txt .srt. and .mlp subtitles. Which app can play .avi movies with subtitles from file?
RockPlayer can. Simply put the subtitles file in the same directory as the movie file and make sure they both have the same file name.
Which type of subtitles RockPlayer supports? Beacause i tried couple of times and it never succeed.
I love your player, but I'm having a problem playing videos using subtitles at MX Player 1.8.6 and 1.7.32
I use KODI to manage and catalog my movies and TV shows.
The KODI is configured to automatically download subtitles.
When I run any video that had the subtitles automatically downloaded by KODI, the subtitles only displays the times of the speech, not the text (example attached)
To try to solve this problem, I made the following tests:
I tried to run the file both locally and by streming
I tried to run video files of different formats (AVI, MP4, MKV)
I tried to run on another device (MX PLAYER attached report)
I tested several text codification settings
I tried to change the subtitles folder
I tried to rename the subtitles
subtitles only worked properly when I downloaded through the MX PLAYER or when I manually download the subtitles and copied to the SD card
I would love it to be possible to watch videos without having to download the legend again.
I am sending attached:
MX PLAYER report on both devices tested
Sample screenshot of a legend with error
Subtitle file that was automatically downloaded by KODI (not working)
Subtitle file that was manual downloaded (working)

Next version will be able to handle this case.
MX Player is popular in Android TVs, nowadays.
This site "https://sites.google.com/site/mxvpen/features" says MX Player does support "text styling and coloring script", but it does not explain how or which format of the subtitle this assertion was meant to be. Perhaps, it means SSA may be, but certainly not in SRT format.
I mean, MX Player does support displaying SRT file format subtitle, but refuse to display according to instruction tags on the text line, such as <i>...</i>, {\fs12\fnCalibri}, <font color=#AAAAAAFF>....</font>, etc.
I like helping community to translate and sync subtitles, and I find SRT being most popular.
I really hope MX Player would considering in supporting SRT text styling and coloring scripts, so that what appears on PC (VLC, Codec Home Media Player, etc) may also appear on the Android TVs using MX Player.
Kindly share a sample subtitle. It will help us to investigate further.
Could you fix the subtitles bug? When some files has subtitles inside of them (not srt file separate) the player don't show. As an example I have Zack Snyder Justice League and the TV Show Falcon and the Winter Soldier (torrent files).
I know its something wrong because: 1) Other players can use the file subtitle. 2) Extracting the subtitle as .srt and opening with Mx Player Pro makes them work as it should.
Thanks for your attention

PS: The problem isn't with subtitle coding because when I extract subtitles with programs in my Computer and save as .srt they work fine with Android. The same thing happens with Android TV.
